Definitely FAMOUS :worship::worship:

Thank you!! I am sure he will love the worship!!

My hair takes ages as it's quite long at the back. Might have a few inches off though and I am going lighter. I have been known to fall asleep at the washing / head massaging stage!

I always end up reading those trashy mags in the hairdressers .... makes me laugh how those same so-called celebs pop up in each one with totally contradictory headlines :rotfl2:

My guilty pleasure as well if I am not planning trips!!

Birkner was a legend in the hallowed halls of Maynard, so I would say famous.

Thank you for the compliment. I will pass it along. Where is Maynard?

Ooooooh...famous!:thumbsup2

Funniest comment we ever heard was one young engineer told him that meeting him was like meeting Moses!!

I know what you mean Marilyn, Hello/OK etc are my guilty pleasures while I'm in the hairdresers! Rubbish but has to be done :rotfl2:

:littleangel:

I knew there were more things we had in common!!

Just back from having my hair cut and coloured. Another new hairdresser.:confused3 They just don't stay in one place long at all these days, and I don't normally like a new one just before going away in case they make a mess. Anyway she, and my hair seem quite nice, and she doesn't seem to be going anywhere in the near future.

Another thing to tick off the list.:lmao:

Me too. Just now catching up on what I missed while I was gone. I had the same hairdresser thank goodness. I'm thinking of changing, though, because she's so expensive.

Rene

I normally don't have a passcode on either of my devices. but since I will be leaving my comfort zone, I decided to put them on. I was afraid that I would "loose" them somewhere and there are things on there I really don't want strangers to have access to.

I am wondering tho, if an honest person found my things and wanted to return them how would they know who they belonged to?

I was thinking about making some sort of a sign with contact info on it and taking a picture of it and using it as my start screen.... Good idea or bad?:confused3
I think it's genius!

We are in barcelona now! We arrived yesterday at 815am, picked up our luggage and took the Aerobus to Placa Catalunya. The bus was easy to take. Only 5.05 per person, plenty of room for the luggage and not crowded at all. The Pratik Ramblas is 2 blocks from Placa Catalunya. We took a few wrong turns before we headed the right way, so I thought that I would share what I learned. When you get off the aerobus, look around you until you are facing a lárge tan colored building (Banca de Espana de Credito). Ramblas Catalunya will be to the left of that building. Walk up almost 2 blocks and the Pratik is on the left hand side of the street before the end of the 2nd block. It is right past the restaurant Piscolabis. Le Meridien is one block the other way from Placa Catalunya, you can reach it by turning towards the Samsung sign on top of a large white building and heading towards the right side of the building.

We bought a 2 day HOHO ticket, rode around all afternoon of the first day just to stay awake. Today we used it to check out the Sagrada Familia. We were there just after 9am and the line was around the block, so we just took pictures from the outside. It´s pretty amazing. Next we stopped in Barri Goti, visited Santa Maria del Mar, which is a really beautiful church dedicated to the sailors. We had a great lunch in Eñ Born, then walked through the alleyways of Barri Gotic before ending up in Las Ramblas. DH hled tight to his very big Nikon and I made sure my hand was near my shoulder bag. Nothing bad happened. The street is crowded with tourists and street performers, so it can be easy to be distracted, but I didn´t see any one looking suspicious. There were a lot of police present.

Tomorrow we plan to visit Parc Guell using the no. 24 bus from Placa Catalunya. I bought tickets for the Opera and Flamenco concert at Palau de Musica Catalana.

The weather is identical to So. California. Mid to high 70´s in the day, cool at night. You´ll need a light jacket or sweater at night.

The Pratik is a very interesting hotel. The building is old and very beautiful, newly renovated using a lot of dark colors. Our room is small and has one window looking into a center core open to the sky. It is warm with no cross ventilation or AC. The bed is good with great pillows. The bathroom is dark green tile with black countops. The wifi is intermittent. I can´t seem to connect on my ipod touch or my laptop so I am using the one computer they have set up in the hallway.

More tomorrow. Someone is patiently waiting.

Thank you for all the helpful information. I'm disappointed about the wifi at the Praktik Rambla. They shouldn't advertise it if you can't really use it should they?:confused3 When we are all there it will be a mess!:rotfl2:

Glad it is cool in the evenings/night with the hotel being warm!!!

Enjoy your stay.

This puts things in perspective as to why we are a little nervous

4115914.jpg

A picture is surely worth a thousand words!

So, I didn't give myself the injection of the medicine this morning and I felt SOOOOO much better! I was myself again...not the sick self that I've been for the last 2 weeks. When we return from the trip, I'm going to call the doctor to discuss other options, but for now I'm happy to not feel sick to my stomach all of the time.

I hope you find a better solution; glad the nausea is gone.

I can't believe next week at this time we'll be almost in Spain! It's exciting but I'm very scared for the flight. I hate flying so I'm freaking out a little...

You and me both!

Tomorrow I'm getting the candy for the candy swap and going to AAA to look at PacSafe's...not sure if I'm going to get anything yet. I'm also going to start picking out clothing (that is my sister's) to take with me. That's one of the good things about being a twin - we both have double the wardrobe!

You're lucky you wear the same size and have the same taste. I've got twin daughters and the only clothes they can share is scarves :rotfl:.

Thanks for letting me know. I better get to work trying to get this shifted. I just hope that I can get this organized in time for the 11 Eastern cut off. It would not be a problem to make alternative arrangements for Noel and Joanne if it came to it as I have a little overflow group anyway on the morning of September 21st that they could join, but I really want to do the Mojito tasting and don't want to cancel this unless I absolutely have to. On the other hand, I don't want to pay for a tasting that I cannot attend.

I am having a bit of an unfortunate start to the weekend. I managed to chip a tooth at dinner yesterday and woke up in the middle of the night with the most horrendous tooth ache. So in about 15 minutes, I have to ring my dentist to see if they can see me today. This is a complete pain as today is my last day off before the vacation and I have lots to do. I am hoping that I still will have time to go into town as I need a few last minute things for the cruise and then I have a Hot Stone Massage booked at a local spa at 6:15 PM.

Right, I better get going if I am even going to have a chance to get everything done.

Corinna

Good luck w/the dental work. I hope they can get you taken care of. :flower3:

Dont let len read this, he LOVES fighter jets, we go places on hols where there are raf bases just incase they are out and about.he will want to come stay with you.

My DH is just the same; loves those jets (he was a jet mechanic in the Marines).

Oh and thanks again for all the well wishes, they must have worked cause Im a bit better today, work was a real trial last night, we had a client that was a bit eh,,,,,,,, difficult, actually he was so bad it was almost funny, some folks realy do come in looking for an argument at every turn, :confused3
Oh man, it is the only good thing about getting old, you can deal with things better and calmer than 10 years ago thats for sure.
He had an accent from another european country, :rotfl2: wish I could get it down how bad/funny it was but I just couldnt do it justice, in the end he said as he left, being sarcastic " well thankyou very much " and I said
" no sir, thankyou you very much and a good night to you":thumbsup2

I cant wait to hear what the day shift make of him.

By the way , the cats fine, even though it did not get an mri scan for its sore tail like the owner demanded. (we dont have an mri scanner by the way,and if we did he had no money, all it needed was a pain killer shot but he had been watching too many er tv programes I think)

Other funny thing was I asked for a contact number, he said.......
"well the telephone folks are as bad as you(me) and gave me beep beep service, when i told them they put the phone down on me and seem to have cut my phone of so I have no phone"
Ps , lovely big smelly entire tom cat, day shift will be loving the aroma;)

I'll never figure out why some people can be such idiots. It doesn't help anything.

My date w/the hairdresser is Wednesday. Fortunately, I've been going to her for years and I hope she stays put.

What else am I missing? Mind is really like a steel sieve lately

:lmao::lmao: There must be an epidemic of that lately.

I'm loving the cooldown in the Midwest after all the 90's we've had. I think allergies are causing all your sneezing. We desperately need some rain to wash all these allergens out of the air, not to mention green up the grass. The leaves are also falling early due to being stressed from lack of water.

Sounds just like here in VA.

I just noticed my DH is in wikipedia. Does that make his famous or infamous?
John Birkner

Ooooooo, we're traveling w/a celebrity! :dance3:

Hi Everyone,

Our flight is Sat. 9/11/10 at 12midnight to JFK then onto BCN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today will be my crazy day with tomorrow the home stretch if you know what I mean....:laughing:

Looking forward to seeing everyone very soon!

Everyone have safe travels and Let the Magic Begin!!!!!

Safe travels and have fun!

Today I got to browse/read about 5 Hello type mags. Jordan is pregnant, Jordan isn't pregnant. Jordan and hubby are about to split, Jordan and hubby are fine. So and so got married, so and so is pregnant. So and so looks too fat, so and so looks too thin. So and so looks great in this dress. So and so is showing her bulges in that dress. Oh and all the female stars have bunions and terrible feet! I know that for a fact as I saw the photos!

Oh dear, my mind is numb. But I love to look at them at the hairdressers.

How funny! That's definitely one of my guilty pleasures, too :rotfl:.

More tomorrow. Someone is patiently waiting.

Sounds like you are having a great time except for the computer interface. St Maarten tour is in good shape!! Signs are made and I sent you my last communication with Bernard!!

Have a great time!! More trip reports to the thread would be welcome. I saw that it might rain next week there. Did you hear the same thing?

See you on the Magic!!

I have just one issue now - I printed up a TON of magnets and now I can't find them... Guess what I will be doing tomorrow after work? yep, tearing up the house trying to find them all!!

Nighty night all!!

Just wondering of those magnets are already there. I remember you posting about how they got them and will have them on your door before your Arrive:goodvibes

Glad it is cool in the evenings/night with the hotel being warm!!!

I got my wifi up, but am running out of charge. It was supposed to rain today but didn't. Ende3d up being sunny and warm. There is a Carrefours grocery right next to Le Meridien and El Cortes Ingles is one block down and one over from Le Meridien and 3 blocks from Pratik. Got to go.

This is the site I used. I'm sure that you can put in other airport codes and track the flights from that airport. I clicked on her flight, and a few pages later there was a "Track This Plane in Real Time" option and when I clicked that it opened up Google Maps and showed the plane in real time. It's cool!

http://www.flightstats.com/go/Airport/airportDetails.do?airportCode=YYZ

Lets see the flight DCL chose for use has a rating of

1.6 out of 5 meaning overall rating

FlightStats Rating is a merit measurement considering both on-time performance and delay severity. The score, 1.6, shows that this flight has on-time performance characteristics better than 31% of all other flights in the FlightStats database.

2.1 out of 5 for on time performance

This flight has an on-time performance of 76%. Statistically, when controlling for sample size, this flight has on-time performance characteristics better than 42% of other flights.

1.1 out of 5 for daily performance

This flight has an average delay of 35.0 minutes with a standard deviation of 47.9 minutes. Statistically, when controlling for sample size, standard deviation, and mean, this flight has delay performance characteristics better than 21% of other flights

But the good news this flight has never been cancelled. I am sure that some bad flights brought the number down.

But nothing was delayed longer the 175 minutes so we should be to the ship in more than enough time cause we are scheduled to arrive at 7:25am so no worries

I knew there were more things we had in common!!

:thumbsup2 wonder how many others we'll find while on the cruise? :thumbsup2

Me too. Just now catching up on what I missed while I was gone. I had the same hairdresser thank goodness. I'm thinking of changing, though, because she's so expensive.

Thats the proble with hairdressers round here too, they cost the earth!:sad2:

Thats great info for everyone spending time in Barcelona thanks :goodvibes Have a great time!:cool1:

:littleangel:

You might do what I do is bring books about our travels and make plans for the trip. I can get lots of things accomplished while I am getting my hair colored.
I know, I picked up my novel I was reading and then left it in the car, doh.
Bythe way, iread about john, def famous and I definatly dont understand.
Famous of course!!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Well this one was really quick and I was out in under 2 hours. I have been places where I have been in 3 hours for the same sort of cut/colour! Now that makes me a bit cross.

Oh dear, my mind is numb. But I love to look at them at the hairdressers.:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
:rotfl2: They are such drivvle, why do we read them, of course I say read them, I would NEVER buy them.
Too funny!! Glad you are able to laugh about it. It always amazes me when folks are rude to people that are going to have the wellbeing of their pets or family in their hands. :confused3 My step sister and BIL were really awful to the medical staff caring for my Dad before he passed. I was appalled for more than one reason. Dennis and I apologized for them, of course. I was thinking if 2 patients need assistance at the same time who are they going to help first....the nice family or the awful ones. Besides, it is just so much easier to be kind.

Thanks for this info!!

Got mine done this week also and thankfully she did an ok job as well. :thumbsup2

Famous in our eyes!!!! I know HIM!!! :snooty:
I can promise you and I am sure human nurses are the same, the level of nursing my patients get has no relevance whatso ever to anything ,including if the owners are rude to me or have any intention of paying the bills, I love nursing.

How sweet!! I will be sure to tell him!!
