I have my suitcase packed--1 bag for my clothes weighing in at 43 lbs. I still have another suitcase to pack with all the goodies for the cruise and my cordless blender. I am hoping to get our clothing for Paris & Barcelona in 1 carryon for the both of us--I don't want to have to rummage through the big cases. My part on that is packed too----Alan hasn't gotten out the 1st thing :scared1:and we leave next Sunday.

It is going to be a very busy week at work. But we will get through it all and I can't wait to get on the plane Sunday and to see Disneyland Paris for the 1st time.

Happy packing everyone--hope it isn't too stressful:)

You will love DL Paris! It is lower key and less crowded than here. At least it was two years ago. Have fun!!!!

See you on the cruise,

Judy

OMG, I'm with John on the techie stuff and I'm having a hard time. My DH bought me an iPad for the trip so I wouldn't have to lug the laptop, BUT...I won't have a usb port to charge my shuffle and I won't have Photoshop to work on my photos. I do have the camera connection kit so I can d/l my sd cards to the iPad and I have three 8gb cards so I should be okay unless I take more than 10,000 pictures.

Good luck with the packing. Took me 24 hours and I finally just decided to stop stressing and just take three rollaboards, one I will carryon and they all collapse to fit under the bed. I packed everything including formal wear. Decided if needed I'd send out for pressing the first day onboard.

We're doing Palo the first night out but not able to book tea yet so will run to GS to do that first thing. Hope there's a reservation slot available.

Judy

I believe it is Rockin Bar D you need to go to for Palo reservations or changing dining times etc. It has been in the past. Get your name on a wait list if they have nothing available at the time. You will problably get a booking at some point!!:thumbsup2

So sorry about your sister. She will be in my prayers. What is her first name?

This is my favorite quote...thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the prayers - Cathy, she is an intensive care nursery nurse. So far the doctors and the hospital say she can continue to work. In addition to working at the hospital she is an instructor, teaching doctors how to put lines into new borns and other classes. She has an autistic son that she worrys about. So life has not been kind to her but you would never know it to meet her. Guess the saying "God never gives us a burden to heavy to carry" is true. val

I still have to do my DCL check in too. I don't remember, is there something I have to print out or is it just all done online?

I just checked and they haven't updated who is the CD this week. I'll keep you all posted.

I'm feeling better, thankfully! I had chicken noodle soup and it tasted wonderful! I'm going to take it easy today though...

I thought this might be of interest to those of us who are following the New Zealand earthquake news.

Thanks for the link. When you look at the pictures, it really is amazing that there weren't more injuries.

Alan is the man!:worship::worship::worship:

I guess I should think about packing...I haven't even done my DCL online check in yet!:scared1::scared1:

Paul
I thought I'd finally get around to it and worked on it a few hours ago, but I couldn't finish because it kept giving me an error message. I'll have to try again later.

I'm back in!!!!
:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

For some reason some of us couldn't get on the Dis today. had a strange page up I haven't seen before. Not country related as many over in the US couldn't either. Thank goodness for Facebook where we could check in with!!!

Very strange morning for the DIS board. I never had any problems with either posting or answering PM's. Good think we all can chat via FB!!.

I use the USB on my computer for so many things that I don't think I could not bring my computer. Won't buy an ipad but am wanting to look at the Samsung Galaxy Tablet when it is released int he USA.

You have the same plan as we do except we have one additional rolling garment bag filled with space bagged clothes. All all our clothes are going into space bags to save room, not weight.

John and I are not doing Palo this time as we have done all three meals on previous cruises. We decided to do a special anniversary meal in Barcelona. Our only time in Palo's is when I am doing the lady's tea.

You need to print out the pages you need to sign which are the cruise contract and the payment authorization forms.

I just checked and they haven't updated who is the CD this week. I'll keep you all posted.

Hopefully, you are going to feel better today. I hope you have not caught some sort of virus or could there be another cause?

Well I'm off to go visit. I can't finish packing because my Mac won't upload my Word document because it has overlays and my PC won't load Word because my DGD downloaded some crap onto my PC. :cutie:

So tomorrow will be technology day. I need to get her laptop working so she'll stop using mine. :cool1:

Today I'm going to practice keeping my iPhone with the girls and not in my pocket. Gotta get back into big city mode and out of suburbs / farmland mode. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Next week we will all be together, finally after two long years of planning.:banana::banana:

I just can't wait to meet you all in real life. Can't wait.:dance3::dance3::dance3:

I hope it is better maintained than the last time I saw it. It has been several year but it was, at best, shabby. I was very disappointed. I went three times in about 5 years so it was not a matter of just being in between updates. In my opinion, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea were the most immaculate of the Disney parks. That being said, I loved them all. Disneyland Paris has the Alice in Wonderland Maze! How typically French. If I remember correctly, Indiana Jones was all outdoors and it went backwards as well as forward. Quite different than any of the others. I would go back in a snap. It's just that, compared with the others, it wasn't as Disney-groomed, if that can be considered a word.

Just be sure to keep everything close and keep an eye out when the taxi driver unloads your cases. Try to have a bellman take things directly from the taxi. Barcelona is known for having people walk by and grab things as they're being unloaded from taxis because you're tired, in a strange place, distracted by paying for the taxi, etc.

Barcelona is also known for conmen pretending / dressed as Bellmen who help you out of the taxi & while you pay for the taxi disappear with your luggage.

I have almost finished packing!!! :cool1:

What is everyone wearing while doing tours of Barcelona? We are arriving on Friday and going directly to a city tour then to the hotel and to HRC for the meet. I dont know if I shoud wear jeans or capris/shorts :confused3 I dont want to stand out to badly as a target for pickpocketing but also want to be comfy. I will also be watching the weather as we get closer to see how warm it will be.

What are your plans of what to wear around town?

In our family, it is my DH to who everyone brings the technology problems. For example, my sister's MIL calls once a year for him to help her do her annual DVD for her Kirwin Relief foundation. Diane, who is over 70 goes to Bodhgaya, India where she helps a village.

Next, it will be my GD Aspen's computer won't work. He will patiently reformat and reload all the progams so it works perfectly.

Or it will be that my desktop has crashed. DH will have to transfer all the files to a new hard drive so I can have a backup to my laptop computer.

I am just so grateful that I have a husband who can attend to all our family IT needs!!

DLP is a shadow of the real thing, but is great to go to in between trips to the US or if you haven't been!!!! The main park is lovely, but the CM's were a miserable bunch when we were there a few years ago! Hopefully they will have cheered up by now. For us, we wouldn't go back unless we happened to be staying close by.

Beware of smoking, and pushing in line!!!

I am trying to follow what I read on this site. Shows a picture and makes perfect sense to me.

We went back in 1992 when it had just opened, appears not to have changed apart from a few more rides etc.

FIrst and mostly I want to mention this OBC opportunity because everyone on board shares good ideas and good opportunities. I am not trying to solicit business.

I usually book a trip on-board to take advantage of the OBC and lower downpay. I know a lot of you mention you do this too. Then when I get home I have my sister, who is a TA take over the booking. She just called to tell me her agency, which is an Ethan Allan worldwide company, is having their Cruise Week promotion while we are aboard the ship, week of 9/19. We usually go to it. They are offering a $50 OBC if you book a cruise or have them take over a booking within 2 weeks of those dates. So she wanted me to let her know within the 2 weeks, if we book onboard, so I get the additional $50. She is salaried so while it is true she wants the company and her ratings to be high, there is not the same pressure as with others. I asked if I could tell the boards about the offer and she said sure. I mean -- $50 is $50 and she really does a good job for her clients.

Her telephone number is 415-242-0277, ext. 302 (shirley.allgood@summittravelgroup.com), or you might want to look for another agency that is offering this kind of deal. val
