Eye surgery went very well - as we knew it would!! Dennis was released an hour after surgery and we stopped by friends' house for coffee for an hour or so. Now we are home and he is napping. Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers this morning. :grouphug:

:goodvibes Great news!!!

Jon, Sorry to hear about your Aunt.

Erik, A belated Happy birthday to you as well. Nice haircut, now I know who to look for when I doing laundry:rolleyes1

:bday: Sue!

Welcome to the new cruisers!

 Good luck for the next couple of weeks, Sarah - you can do it!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I have had a very BAD weekend - mainly because, for the first time in almost a year, my brain went MIA and I 'forgot' I can't eat wheat!!! :faint: I demolished a Big Mac and it wasn't until it was almost finished that I realised what I'd done!!! And I've paid the price... :sad2: So I'm 100% focused on the STRAIGHT & NARROW from now on. I can't believe I had such a blip - I'm normally very good. Oh well. Lesson learnt... :teacher:
My DW has a Gluten Intolerance as well. What's your fav (not too pricy) Restaurant in London?

We bring some candy for the roomhost. We'll leave some out each day then what ever is left over is left on the last day.

Jon:

Both John and I want to express our condolences on the loss of your Aunt. Even though you indicated that you knew it was coming, I am sure you are feeling a great sense of loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you tonight.

Warmest Regards,

Noel and John

Jon,,,,,hugs to you and your family :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Well done on your cruise prep but sorry to hear about your Aunt

So sorry to hear about your loss. Even when you know it's coming and it's a blessing, it's still never easy. :grouphug:

So sorry to hear that Jon. :flower3:

Our condolences to you Jon, and to your family x

Sorry for your loss, Jon...

Thank you and we hope your family has peace as well. It is never easy, even when expected. :grouphug:

So sorry about your Aunt Jon.

Sorry Jon! Big hugs to you and your family. No matter how much you know its coming its always a shock!

Jon, Sorry to hear about your Aunt.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. The timing is unfortunate, my Aunt and Uncle lived in Hong Kong for several years, so they have numerous close friends there. So in order to give anyone time to travel the funeral is most likely going to be Friday, which is the day we fly out. Not the way we wanted to start this trip but, I am happy to know that she is now with my grandpa, grandma, and cousin (her daughter who was killed in a car accident several years ago)

Again thank you to everyone. :grouphug:

Well, our flight home from Orlando was going to be PERFECT! Got to spend a good chunk of the day wandering around F&W before we headed to MCO for the flight to Mexico City.

Well, last Friday Mexicana Airlines ceased operations. Yup, went bankrupt! OY!

Much scrambling this morning - as we really thought we were on AeroMexico -to grab another flight at a decent fare. We did grab AeroMexico this time. Not the best fare but not horrible either. At least it's a nonstop flight from MCO to MEX!

Finally got around to prepaying the Praktik Rambla, too! Got the Euro for $1.27US so not horrible.

Michael

Glad to hear things did work out for you.

Eye surgery went very well - as we knew it would!! Dennis was released an hour after surgery and we stopped by friends' house for coffee for an hour or so. Now we are home and he is napping. Thank you all for the good thoughts and prayers this morning. :grouphug:

Continued thoughts and prayers for speedy healing

Happy Birthday Sue:cheer2:

Jon

OMG....I stayed up until 1 am last night reading from page 80 to 134, then I get up this morning and there are 4 more pages! How will I ever catch up????? Maybe another late night tonight. Did I mention before that my DH thinks I have too much free time?!

We are flexible with our schedule and are thinking about Paris for three days first. Anyone have any suggestions for hotels? Kinda late looking I know. I've been several times before with my DH but those places are booked. My friend has never been so thought it would be fun.

I'm going to do a trial run packing this week to make sure it all fits. I have taken all the suggestions I found here and on passporter's and bought EVERYTHING...well almost. I think my DH is getting dizzy from shaking his head.

Looking forward to meeting you all,

Judy

Awwwwww , Its getting close ...Heres the Magic pulling into Malta this morning , and the next time she does that we will be on her..... Matter of fact the next time she makes port in Barcelona she wont leave without us :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I have a silly question for those who have done the WBTA (or EBTA) before. On our first sea day, can we "see" anything during our travels from Barcelona to Gibraltar? Or are we far enough away from the coast that we will not see anything. Silly.

P.S. 12 more days of work !!!

Hey folks....

U all are chatty as always...but gratefully I'm not a million pages behind..only had to catch up with about 10 on lunch break.

As a general announcement----I thought I'd let you know (I didn't see anyone post about it here on the boards but I might have missed it skimming) that I got a PM this morning from "Sue L"----because of an ankle injury, she and her husband are NOT going to be able to cruise with us. :sad2: She wanted to let me know that she wouldn't need her lanyards----which ended up being serendipitous for DizzneyDAnn and her husband who wanted lanyards but were late to the game....and so now I was able to give them lanyards!!:thumbsup2 I mention this because if Sue L is listed on any other lists like FE exchange, secret mickey, tastings, etc. then the organizers should make sure to pull her off. (Note: I still have a couple people on my "waiting list" who joined us late after all the lanyards were gone....but I am still thinking there are at least 3 people on my list who will not actually be on the cruise----figment795, tigger795 & KAP158 have still not responded to any PMs or emails...so we'll see if they materialize...if not, then the lanyards I have reserved for them will go to the next folks "in line" for lanyards)

(Also, has anyone heard from kcashner? I have sent a few PMs to her and still no reply and no room # for her. Anyone know her room #? Or if she is even cruising with us still?)

And THAT is a good reminder to everyone to PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THE LANYARD LIST by clicking HERE. I know I've asked you to do that a million times...but we're in actual crunch time now----please double check it to make sure that your cabin # is listed there and that it is correct. This is immensely important to you actually getting your lanyards for the trip.....because Jason and I will be printing the final version of the lanyard list to bring with us on the trip on Wed. morning. We are going to print one in alphabetical order by DIS name so that at the DIS meet and during the sail away folks can come and find us and we can easily locate their lanyards and check them off. We are also going to print a list sorted by cabin #, because anyone who hasn't gotten their lanyards from me by the time I get out of dinner on the first night of the cruise can expect to find me knocking on their cabin door later that evening (and if they're "home" then we'll confirm who they are and give them their lanyards) and/or leaving a note under their door asking them to contact us at our room to confirm they are aboard and their room # and to make arrangements to get their lanyards from us. (Note: Also, if you change your room # and you do not get your lanyards at one of the meets----although on what seems to be a pretty full ship that is probably a bit unlikely----make sure that you contact me with that information at my cabin # with a note or a phone message at #6584).

OK, that is my public service announcement(s) about lanyards.

Beyond that......

.....thanks to everyone for the compliments on my new hair. I unveiled it at work today and it was a big shock...but seems most people like it. I am still getting used to...but I def. got ready faster this morning...I can sleep an extra 15 minutes every morning now!! :thumbsup2

And on a final note...Jason and I had a RIDICULOUSLY productive weekend!! We finished EVERYTHING we needed to do for this trip except for setting up our blog, which we plan to do tonight (we are hoping to blog at least every other day with a quick report about what we did that day and some photos so that our friends and family can keep track of us on our month long voyage!!:thumbsup2). We also cleaned our entire house so we'd come home to a nice clean home......and....are you ready for this....

....WE PACKED!!

Not we started packing...not we set things aside to pack....WE PACKED!! Our suitcases are fully packed and sitting in the spare bedroom (no room by the front door or they'd be there) and ready to go!! The only thing we have left to do is to throw a few important items in our carry ons.....but otherwise we are good to go!!

......oh....and it's 2:55pm EST on Monday here.....exactly 3 days and 5 minutes from now I will be getting in my car and heading to the airport to catch our flight to begin our vacation!!

That is unfortunate Jon, as you say, a sad start to your trip.:guilty:

Hey everyone!!
I know that the address for shipping boxes to the ship was posted last week but I can't find it among the amount of chatter that we do :) Could someone please post the thread or the address? That would be great.

Thanks
Annette :)

I added the World Traveler for $6 which gives you some discounted per minute rates in some countries. If I was just doing the TA I probably would not have added this. I also added Global Messaging 50 for $10. You can read about them here. I was also able to put this on my phone to become active on Friday, 9/3 before I leave, since they prorate the plans for the dates they are active on your phone. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information...I'm going to look into it.

Then we slowed down a little. Got a call from my dad telling me my aunt passed away last night. It was something we knew was coming, she is now at peace.:littleangel:

Jon

I am very sorry to hear about your aunt.

I'd recently given Mum all my ones to listen to so was able to call her to see which ones were missing from the collection.

I got -
The Incredibles
101 Dalmations
The Sherman Brothers
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
Dinosaur
Home on the Range
The Happiest Millionaire
Oliver and Company
The Rescuers Down Under
Pete's Dragon
and also Lilo & Stitch and Tarzan which I've already got but these are really cool moving cover images

I don't think the have ever been played. The shop assistant said a lady dropped off a huge pile of them last week and many had already sold. I left a big stack behind of ones I'd already got. I'm guessing we are probably less one Disney fan in the world as I imagine it was a deceased estate.

That is quite the list! What a great find! :)

Just love those magical 'Narnia' wardrobes, don't you? :thumbsup2:cool1:

I already found one shirt I want to take! I'm sure there will be many more!

Well, our flight home from Orlando was going to be PERFECT! Got to spend a good chunk of the day wandering around F&W before we headed to MCO for the flight to Mexico City.

Michael

This happened to my friend - his airline went bankrupt. However it went bankrupt while he was at the airport- waiting for his flight home from Europe! :scared1: Needless to say, he ran around the airport "Amazing Race" style and found a flight back home.

My hubby is working late tonight so I'm just hanging out at my parent's house for now. Sadly, I'm still really tired from being sick and I may have to work tonight. I need the hours, but just not tonight! LOL!

We can do it!

Steffy, where did you get that insurance? We really want to get that too. My sister's DMIL had a massive stroke in Italy and it cost them over $25,000 to fly her home since she didn't have the insurance. Don't want to make the same mistake.

If you have AAA you might want to look into your membership level. Many of the clubs have three levels of membership. The middle level (AAA Plus) which costs $35 more a year for me here in California includes:

Emergency Medical Transportation* up to $25,000 per Occurrence
Repatriation of Remains* up to $5,000 per Occurrence
and other "stuff". You might want to call and ask about the coverage in your area and compare it to any other policy. Be sure to ask about things like "pre-existing conditions exclusions".

Could be cheaper if it meets your needs. val

BTW, I'm Laura and DH-Steve and DD - April. I, however, will be traveling on the back to back with a few of the other cruisers so I won't get to meet you in at the HRC if you go - but catch my cruise buddy - Pam AKA DisneySweetie. She's a sweetheart and a great person to know.

 Awwww Thanks Laura.......Cant wait to see you in 19 days!!!

Oh dear, poor you! I've had tummy troubles the past couple days too so feel your pain......trouble with dieting is I eat loads of fruit and my IBS doesn't like that too much :rolleyes1

I am just the same and for the same reason. Yuck. I hope DisneyGirl02 is feeling better; that kind of illness really wipes you out. :flower3:

It looks really great - I never got to see the first one - are we making any addemdum sheet for corrections?

I had signed up to bring alchol wipes in the medical supplies (they are already packed)

and if anyone needs to change sizes or pick up their bracelets they can come by my cabin: 6018 - I will have them with me at the terminal and meet also.
