She and I were told they wouldn't be assigned our cabins to GTYs until 2 weeks before departure. I hope those of you in the know are right when you bet it will be sooner. This is driving me nuts. Only good thing is I've put my reservation number into their search so many times I've memorized it.

Val

In the world of customer service....tell them two weeks prior and if you get it done four weeks (2 weeks early) they are thrilled. Tell them four weeks prior and if it is 3 weeks and 6 days they are unhappy.
I think they will be assigned far before 2 weeks out. We have been GTY many times and DCL has always assigned us a room ;) and done it before we got our documents which is usually about 4 weeks before we sail. :thumbsup2

Hi all.

We've just joined this thread, because we didn't know it existed until today. Well, just wanted to introduce ourselves, as we'll be on the cruise with you. It's our first cruise, and we really don't know anything about the Disney ships or taking a cruise, other than what we've read on the internet and learned from our friends, who are taking their fourth cruise.

"We" are my husband, Tom age 47, and myself, Rikke age 39.
Tom is German, I'm Danish, we're living in Nuremberg, Germany, but spending approx. two weeks per month in our house in Denmark.
Tom and I are both self-employed with our own companies. Tom is a composer and producer, I am strategic marketing consultant. Just this month we're starting a new joint project, Sportunes, which is a webshop for training music. We look forward to sharing not only our private lives, but also our professional lives with each other.

Both Tom and I have spent a year in the States - ages ago as we were still young:flower3:
We both have limited Disney experience, and absolutely no cruise experience, so we're looking forward to what is expecting us. Fortunately we are travelling with our friends from Germany, so we have some experienced advisors with us. We look forward to also making new friends on the cruise, and we're sure that it will be a trip we'll never forget.

Look forward to meeting you in 7 weeks.

Rikke.

WELCOME!!! Thanks for giving the introduction. We are Dennis and Angie from Montana, USA. Dennis is 65 and I am 60. Our 11th cruise, all with DCL. Our first as a 4 night and we were hooked!

Check out page 1 and 2 for things to sign up for. Some are closed, some are still taking folks. If you want shirts to match all of us embarkation day, send a PM to Todd right away. And a PM to Krisann right away to get armbands that will identify you as "one of us", providing you want to be identified as one of us!! :rotfl2: Also, I think a PM today to Erik would get you a lanyard. Armbands and lanyards are FREE!! A very good price. ;)

We are using the same company who has promised to pick us up at 8:00 AM to get us to the Le Meridien so we can join our tour mates for a tour of Monseratt.

Same on the quoted us 55 Euros for 2 and 4 suitcases. Interesting the price differences. Perhaps Praktik Barcelona is a bit farther from the airport.

Welcome aboard!! I am Sue, traveling with Glenn (Buckeye Goofy) and our 2 kids, Stephen 13 and Becca 6.

Check out pages one and 2 for details of things happening. Then take a lookat the website - www.transatlanticpirates.com. The database is off line right now, so you can't add yourself, but as soon as we are done with maintenance I will send a note so people can sign up or make changes again.

For anyone doing the Wine and Dine Race on the 2nd. I called them about my WDW tickets what a bargain. 4 Day park hopper is 199 w/tax. To buy them thru WDW was 277 w/o tax. Needless to say i have 2 on the way.

Annette is our list maker. I have one but her's is more detailed.

thats sounding like a great day out!
Can I have some advice?

I got a quote of 100euros all inclusive for a taxivan to pick up 7 of us from our hotel Praktik Ramblas, and all our luggage, to take us to the port. Is that expensive? I know the conversion to dollars, and it seems expensive, but is it expensive for Barcelona? What would a regular taxi cost (and I think we'd need 2-3 for all of us and our stuff).

Thanks!
I think they have mini vans parked outside for hire as well so you dont need 2 taxis.

Not sure what is normal for Barcelona, however, it sounds reasonable to me based on what we are paying to go from airport to hotel (alsoPraktik Rambles). I made the arrangements with max allowable luggage (and hope to come up short...) - so 4 people, 8 cases, 2 backpacks. 50 Euro all inclusive, prvate transportation, and they meet us in the arrival hall with a sign with my name on it! (Just adds to the excitement :thumbsup2)

Your other option is to get sith Stephen (Nacho 1337) and see if there is room on the bus that morning! I am not sure if he has made the arrangements or not as yet. :confused3
The excitement is whether they will be there or not:lmao:,sorry, only joking, Im a horrible person.

We are being quoted 40 Euros for two of us to go from the Marriott Renaissance at the airport to the Le Meridien so I personally think it is a good deal for 7.

May I ask who you are getting your quote from?

Just my thoughts...

suitcaselady.gif

We just got a second quote from Barcelona Day Tours (we're using them for our airport to hotel 4 hour tour our first day) and they came in at only 79 euros which is the way we will go. They require prepayment by credit card (they only charged a deposit for the tour). Great deal methinks.

For anyone planning to visit Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, I understand that the Pope is supposed to consecrate it on 7 Nov. As a result, there is a flurry of activity trying to move construction along (as if they can do in two months what hasn't been accomplished in 100 years!!!) and many parts, inside and outside, are blocked by construction fences, etc.

Thanks for the heads up. Do you think that means that we will not get see very much? Sure sounds like it to me. DH and I are going to be disappointed....

Welcome!! This is a very friendly group so just jump right in.

Those Spanx get everywhere!!

I couldn't leave them back on part 7 now could I?

PHOOEY! This is the one thing that I really wanted to see!

I think we'll still be able to see a lot; there just may be construction fences, scaffolding, etc. in the view - more than usual!

Cant he(the pope) not just wave a wand or something,:confused3

Wow, what a warm welcome.
Thanks for your greetings, all of you.

Our fellow German cruisers are also here - the Pankotsch family (FrauP) travelling with their baby son. I think they have ordered lanyards and wristnads for us.

I'll be sure to take your advice, and read the first pages of this thread thoroughly.

Thanks again

Rikke
