I am so sorry. I tried to catch up and read the posts, but in two days you guys were very chatty. I hope I did not miss anything good.

did you see the post to put in sizes for the wristbands that a group of us are giving to everyone?

Krisann

Yay, there are a few that will come, at least I will be among friends when I pass out. :thumbsup2

Ok then, I'll meet you on the floor next to the bikes! :rotfl:

Sounds good, there are a few younger girls, I'm sure they'll all get along great. My girls have already made friends with Sue's princess Becca. :cutie:

My girls seem to find friends every where they go. "Mom, I have a new best friend!" "That's great! What's her name?" "I don't know" :rotfl2:
:hourglass

I was in the second to the left driving to the shopping center when someone in front of me suddenly changed into the lane in front me of me. The traffic had been slowing down, so I was not going very fast, but they were pretty close in front of me. The traffic then came to a complete stop. The car in front of me had to suddenly put on their brakes. I literally stood on the brakes on and stopped about a foot from the car in front of me. Of course wouldn't you know it, I was promptly hit by the van behind me, and the car behind them hit the van. Lucky for me, I saw the van a split second or so before it hit me so I just took my foot off the brake and tried to mentally relax so I don't think I am hurt at all.

When I arrived home, DH John took lots of pictures of the damages to the Suburban.

I am glad to hear everyone was ok. Glad you were in a Suburban (not a smart car).

It's actually in Google Earth rather than Google Maps. Google Earth is a much more powerful program but you do have to download it (it's free) rather than just using it off the web. If you want to download it, I can then send you the .kmz file for you to play with.

That would be awesome... I have Google Earth.

Trying to keep up with chatty people!:lmao:

Tom, so sorry about Peanut:hug:
Noel, Wow, so glad you wern't hurt. Yup cars can be replaced:thumbsup2
Todd and Helen, That first pic loked my laundry room!:lmao:
Thanks for all the work you have done to make this a special cruise for so many of us:worship::worship::worship:

Now ... on to my question....
I know these pieces of art are in Bacelona. They are of Ramon Berenguer III Count of Barcelona. He's family and I want to take pics of all I can.
Q: Where is he ... a museum or ??? where???
Im bringing some genelogy with me so we can look up dead relatives:rolleyes1

The statue is in "old town" Barcelona in Ramon Berenguer Square next to the Cathedral of Barcelona. You can get to it from the street named Via Laietana. Is that enough info to find it on a map? I can keep digging if not. :flower3:

:worship::worship: You are my hero!:worship:
I have looked everywhere and came up with nothing. So Im guessing that the painting could be in the Cathedral. I have a map, just didnt know which way to go:confused3

Thanks a million!!!

Monica,

Might have been answered but its literally a stone's throw from HRC. In fact, right in front of HRC is Plaza Cataluna, then think of those roundabouts, and if HRC is at 5 pm, then El Cortes Ingles is at about 3 pm. Really simple. You can walk there in about 1 minute. Big tall building, will usually have a big billboard with the words: El Cortes Ingles. Its about an 8-10 story building. Can't miss it. Hope it helps. And foods on -1 planta (floor) along with sundries, beauty and candy, smokes. Interesting. Remember if you need to go to the bathrooms, skip the first couple of floors and go to the higher ones. Also, the bathrooms are what looks like the stairway exits. Look for the signs. LOL

Its an amazing experience. Everyone should try it once. :)

Good place to buy beer and wine? What's HRC?

I am glad to hear everyone was ok. Glad you were in a Suburban (not a smart car).

I am glad too!! I love the Smart Car but would not be driving it that far away.

That would be awesome... I have Google Earth.

Don't you love Google Earth!!

I am a hug genealogy buff and have tons of family history on both of our families. John is a Mayflower descendant so that is how I got interested in family history.

You are great at finding out obscure things for people!! Kudos to you!!

You're welcome!

Regarding the painting, it appears to be at Palau de la Generalitat de Catalunya. (See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ramon_Berenguer_III.jpg.)

As for the statue, Wikipedia has the coordinates, so check that out. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ramon-berenguer-III-BCN.jpg) I clicked on the location, and it brought up "this". Right above where it says "Global Services", there's a link to take you to Google Maps. The only thing I'm not 100% comfortable with is that the coordinates say "camera location". Regardless, with knowing the name of the place where they are, it should be easier to now get map!

Wow! Cool! I didn't know you could drill down from a photo in Wikipedia to this level! You could do the same for the painting!

I love your mission to do this for the family!

Jeepers, I'm away from the computer for a day and come back to War and Peace (I do like the cast here better, though).

Noel, so glad you and family are OK. That must have been so scary, watching that van come up behind you.

Tom, it was so sad to hear about your little Peanut. At least she's out of pain now; I hope yours will become more bearable day by day. We will all think of her when we wear the bracelets.

Thank you, everyone, who contributed to the bracelets. What a great idea!

Todd and Helen, you are pretty gosh darn amazing! I couldn't believe what you've done.

I've been very busy taking care of DGD2. She and her mother have been staying w/us since their air conditioner decided to die in the middle of this 90-100 heat wave last week :scared1: . Unfortunately, this morning the baby woke up w/a fever ~102 degrees. Since DD had to work, guess who had a sick baby today? It's so hard seeing them looking like little wilted flowers, no energy, no appetite, no interest in anything. I hope she's feeling better in the morning, poor baby.

Thanks Laura. From the map it appears to be pretty far from the Columbus monument. I might have to make other plans. I was just going to drop my bags off Saturday morning then take the shuttle to town and wander a bit. Most importantly I have to visit la Boqueria since I missed it on my last trip.

Maybe the DON'T butter their bread, thus the weight loss. :confused3:rotfl2::rotfl:

:lmao::lmao:

Speaking of "clothing optional" I wonder if anyone will spot the famous "naked man of Barcelona" on Las Ramblas. :rotfl2:

:scared1:

I love their caption to the video - 'Randoms walking along the beachfront!!'

A special thanks to Mahal Ko Helen ...she was a trooper in helping me get these packed up today ...

pirate:

Wow, that was a good few hours work!! Well done Helen and Todd. Sorry we won't be getting a tee shirt.

I also replaced the chocolate for the swap that I have been eating - I know, I know!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That's me too!!!!

I think that I can deal with it... However how do you prep a 6 ear old for this? Or a 13 year old? I am sure he is used to be ing stared at, but I ami not sure I want my kids to doe the staring... :rotfl:

I think the people doing this are wanting to be stared at!

I agree on the artistic tattoos....do you get Miami/LA Ink over there on TV? Some of the designs are amazing!:woohoo:

That 'ugly' tattoo site is one of dd's favourites! Very funny!

I've heard of Miami Ink but never seen it - I think that is on subscription TV which we don't have - seeing we never watched free TV anyway - we got rid of it and just watch everything on DVD or online. ;)

I understand NZ has one of the highest percentage of tattooed people in the world - I guess due to our polynesian culture. There is a lot of pride particularly in Maori designs and many Maori and non-Maori have them. We have many world class artists here too and in the city there are tattoo studios everywhere. My cousin got two done here last time he was in New Zealand.

There is even a Maori man who works at the main public library in town with full face moko - not so common in this part of the country but more so in the north island.

This is what moko looks like, women tend to just have it on their chins. It usually depends the tribe and family history of the person so each is unique to the individual.

We had an interloper at our first Champagne Girls.

I know he won't mind me showing you!!!

Ummmm.... gorgeous (for want of a better word) :rotfl2:

I just got it this past January....only a handful of people have seen it or even know about it.....Now my DIS family knows :rotfl:

Love it! Promise I won't tell :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Very Cool! Thanks so much!
As long as it doesn't say "Welcome aboard" :lmao:

:lmao::lmao:Or "take what you can":lmao::lmao:

Or ... "you must be this tall to ride"

I suppose those companies just want to be sure you do ABSOLUTELY NO personal things on the web during the work day even if you are on a break or at lunch at your desk.

Pretty sad, if you ask me. I guess there will always people who abuse the privilege and ruin it for the rest.

Thats why I love working in IT - I can just reconfigure the system to let me do what I like :rotfl2:

WRISTBANDS!!!

We have our cost covered!!

Thanks to the following Diser's for donating:
Information will be coming via PM to everyone who is contributing!

Wow - thats amazing! Thanks so much for everyone who contributed!

Well, that might be our answer to the packing problems - don't bring any clothes. We would certainly be able to recognize each other :scared1:

LOL I think our holiday pics might get us banned from Facebook and the Dis though :rotfl2:

Remember if you need to go to the bathrooms, skip the first couple of floors and go to the higher ones. Also, the bathrooms are what looks like the stairway exits. Look for the signs. LOL

Its an amazing experience. Everyone should try it once. :)

We should try the bathrooms for the amazing experience... ok, if you say so...
:rotfl:

Cars are replaceable, people are not.

Well said! :thumbsup2

I need a boost today........although I lost 5 lbs last week, this week my loss was only 2 and a half....I'm really disappointed after trying so hard....still, a loss is a loss I suppose.
That is a fantastic loss, I would be ecstatic with that! Good onya! :dance3:

FYI, I can not see the shirt as link takes me to a Zazzle.com sign in window.

Neither :confused3

Hey Kiwi Group---

If you don't regularly check your PM's, take a look...you have a PM from me that we need info for your fish extender present!

Replied :thumbsup2

I would love to go to the Fountain on Friday if anyone else is going after the HRC meeting.

Looks like there might be a group. :thumbsup2

Thanks Krisann, watching.....:goodvibes

I think I'll need the drink to get the nerve to see the sights on the clothing optional beach. This way I'll be more creative with my answers to my 7yo DS.

I'll be fielding the same questions from my 8 and 9 year old, Let me know if you have any better answers than "clothes make them very itchy"? :confused3

You guys wanna have a laugh?!?
I never dared to take a spin class at my gym here at home, because all the folks looked so fit!

So I thought, why not try it on DCL.
I went to the class. And looked at all the people around me.
A pretty fit lady, some guys... and an elderly couple.
Well, I thought, two more newbies. So I won't look THAT UNFIT.
Let's get startet...
As we all boarded our bikes the elderly couple told me that they just finished a triathlon... and wanted to stay fit onboard...

There I was between fit guys, a pretty skinny spinning lady AND thriathlon people...

But I survived. It was sweaty but fun!

Come with me, I promise I'm not skinny, fit or a triathlete!

Personally, I wish I were young enough and attractive enough to go in the buff but of course I grew up in California during the 1960's and may be less inhibited.

Our local beaches are not officially "clothing optional", but often topless, and sometimes scary......:rolleyes1

On another (creepier) note - DS just appeared after emptying his trash can to report that he had trapped a mouse (!!!!) overnight in his trashcan. He said he woke up because something was making noise in his room and jammed a bed pillow in the top of the can. When he dumped the can contents into the large trashcan outside - there was a little brown mouse!!

I had him check all his walls and ceiling in his room for hole from outside/attic that it may have come in.

YUCK

:guilty:

I hope it wasn't Mickey!!! :scared1:

Hubby and I drove down to a little town called Arbovale, WV which is right next to Green Bank Observatory. It took us just over four and half hours which was great time.

Terry, it looks wonderful, so peaceful. And your hubbies pizza looks really good.....oh man.....now I'm hungry....again! :rotfl:

TransAtlantic Pirate Postal heading your way
Very organised, Good Onya. And send a big Thanks to Helen too! :flower3:

At TJMax I found something I think I will really like - see I ALWAYS take an extra duffle bag - one of those ones that fold up really small in the bottom of the suitcase - they always come in handy! Well at TJMax I found a laundry bag that is a duffle and a backpack - it holds 2 loads of dirty clothes - and was only $7 - I thought this was a great price and if needed it does close on the top and I will check it full of clothes

Sounds like your had a productive day, your laundry bag sounds perfect. ;)

Oh - for brunch day - even if it is Char. BFast, we can make it work!!!

I need MouseKeeping here at our place as well. I think after 2 weeks of MouseKeeping it will be very hard to come home...

We have to find time to get all the girls together early on so that they all get comfortable with eachother. Makes club time easier!!

After seeing Becca sleep deprived for a couple of mornings and evenings, I am now under the impression that we should do the fountain on Friday after HRC. Are you going to make that meet? I think we will do tapas for dinner on Thursday and make it an early night. Then get up and hopefully be refreshed for a very full day on Friday...

Also - I thinkthat Glenn can get you a report off of the website. Noo, that is wrong. I know he canm it is a data base. Just let us know what you need...

We can definitely make it work, character breakfast or not, I hear the brunch is worth skipping breakfast for. And as you said, if it is the char b/f we'll sit with the kids and have a cuppa or something very light.
Imagine me after a whole month of mousekeeping, I'l forget how to make a bed....:goodvibes
Hopefully the kids will hit it off straight away, we should see you guys Friday night, then meet up at port again the next day, by Sunday they'll all be best friends. Lucy is fantastic with younger kids and we'll really look after Becca.:cutie:
We are really going to try and make the HRC meet. Unless somebody is unwell, or we are complete zombies, we will be there. Then grab some dinner and hopefully see the fountains. We have less than 24 hours in Barcelona, we need to suck it up and soldier on, even if we're tired. I'll force feed the kids sugar if need be.....:rotfl:

Now I have a list of lists :woohoo:

Another list maker, I am the queen! Oh actually, have you seen Sue's master list? I think she's the Queen! :goodvibes

I'm sure we could talk him into this. We also are worried about cruise weight because we DO NOT monitor what we eat. It's a great time to try out new foods and remember some old favorites!

That's my way of thinking, try new foods, enjoy all your favourites, Worry about the weight later. Besdies we are spending 2 weeks in WDW after the cruise, with all the walking there I should level out by the end of the month.......hopefully ;)

I also tried to multi-quote reply to your response about meeting me on the floor at the spin class.....Your on, It's a date!

Oh, It's horrible having sick kids to look after, they are so innocent and helpless. I just want to take away all their pain. I hope she's feeling better soon. :flower3:

Thank you. I think that trying to relax before the crash as much as I could helped. I was shaking afterward and a bit incoherent but I think if I would have tensed, it would have been much worse!!

You're probably right!

HELP!! All of a sudden I can not receive private messages? I get a message that I can only receive messages from contacts! How do I fix this?

Oh it must be in your profile settings somewhere! Have a look at "edit your profile" and see if theres anything that says "allow pms"

My company blocks all zoho files and most Google docs. So I can't be connected to my company network and access those doc links.

Mine blocks anything it sees as personal use, mind you this doesn't include the Dis boards lol. It also doesn't seem to block Google documents just Google Spreadsheets and Zoho files.
