question: were there any extra t-shirts? I thought I read once there was - could whoever had this information PM me if there is or not and also what sizes you have.

What color is the shirt? We do not have them and do not want to look out of place in the picture so if there is no more shirts I will wear that color at least.

Krisann

Sent you a PM about the shirts.

Per the ONBOARD picture - on the EBTA we did it right before the Dis lunch - we just showed up 30 minutes early.

Just a thought . . .

Mandy, I will finish the hobnobs off for supper;)
You all on your own?

lol Lynne! I'd kill for a hobnob.....:thumbsup2 Yep, all on my ownsome, but think Mark's hoping to not be too long.....:rolleyes1

Yes,dh is gonna love that, NOT,:dance3:

:rotfl2: I took pity and decided not to :thumbsup2

Are we having a DIS lunch too??:confused3

Question on the MMC shirts. I can't seem to find the shirts on zazzle (I never could figure them out) and we seem to have bought all the ones on the Disney store website (at least the ones I could find.) Can someone give me direct links to what they bought for the shopping challenged? Thanks!

I hope you guys can make it to the fountain with us!

It's late, so I'm probably missing the mark here. I see the Rotation menus as being on nights 2, 4, and 6. If I'm wrong, I do need corrected since I referenced those in the MMC Survey Post. Assuming Rotation Menus start on Night 2, I see it as night 5 being be a repeat night.

AH HA!! I now see what you're referring to! I looked in the handy dandy mini Navigator. Night 2 is expected to be the "Flavors of the Mediterranean" menu! Got it! Thanks, and sorry I didn't dig further the first time!!!!

Glad you got it sorted. Looks like we've now received several confirmations that the rotation menus are nights 4, 5 & 6, in case that impacts the MMC shirt wearing.

Need a slight chuckle this Sunday morning?

ZEN TEACHINGS

Those were great! Thanks for sharing!!

I just had a look on the USPS website. Normally jewellery is not heavy. Up to 3 ounces would be USD2.92, up to 4 ounces USD3.76 and up to 5 ounces USD4.60. I can't imagine that it would be heavier than 5 ounces and it might be lighter than 3 ounces.

Corinna

Awesome! I sent you a PM!

Re: Fountains

Is the plan to go in the morning or evening?

I didn't think there was a morning fountain show since I assumed we were going to see the lights and water show (but I have no factual idea.) I think we were talking about Thursday evening, with the earliest show being at 8:30 with several more afterwards. Sounds like there may be some going on Friday too.

I wanted to add that we are going to the Magic Fountain in Barcelona on the Friday at the first show. We'd love to go on the Thursday but we are just getting in that day and I don't think any of us will survive a long, late night. We are planning to go to Poble Espanol on Friday evening, eat dinner near there, and then catch the fountain show. We would welcome Dis company should Friday work for anyone.

C

We're hedging our bets. If we're recovered from our trip, we hope to catch the Thursday fountain. But we figure there is always Friday as a backup. So if we don't make the first night, we'll hopefully see you the second night.

Is there any way he can stay enrolled at the old school and then not change schools until after the trip? Either way good luck figuring it out.

Unfortunately he can't stay at his current campus since he technically graduated from their program this past year, and they start a new class come Labor Day. Plus it's a private school, and I have to pay for the month even if I want just a few weeks. We've considered just keeping him home for the first 1.5 weeks in September, and starting him after our trip, and may do that if we stay on the private route. But if he's public, it doesn't cost anything extra for him to attend, and he'd be there for the first week and a half of the school year where he can start getting adjusted along with everyone else (though he'll probably have to get readjusted after our trip.)

I do not know if the following has been brought up in the talk about MMC shirt night.

It was mentioned that the first 3 nights are the rotations in each dining room. This was not true on the EBTA

It was the 4th night before we started the rotational dining.

As I said - this may have already been addressed - but wanted to bring it to your attention in case it had not.

Krisann

Thanks for your confirmation on this!

Finally got round to uploading a few pictures from my trip to Disneyland Paris a couple of weeks ago.

It's a magical place,

Sorry they're so big this is my first picture post

SW

Stunning photos .... love the castle silhouette one.

I made a Google Earth map with some of the more famous sites (plus a couple of hotels and restaurants). It shows the various Metro lines (color coded) that link the different sites.

Barcelona_Map.jpg

Wow ... this is really good. Must print a copy. Thanks Mike.

Thanks,

They're taken with the Fuji Finepix F10

I'm embarrased to say it's just a simple point and shoot camera though it does have a manual setting to that i used to capture the sunset shot.

SW

I have a Fuji Finepix something or other but I never take photos that good ... you definitely have an eye for a good shot !!

Fair rant!
I've told DD Lilly that she can't even get her ears done until she's sixteen.

I never could bring myself to get my ears pierced!

Me too! Me Too! Missed the deadline. Please let me know if you have any extra t-shirts.

We're planning to join the group on Thursday, but also hedging our bets since that will be our first day too. Maybe anyone who doesn't make it on Thursday can go after the gathering at the Hard Rock on Friday evening.

Andrea

Ok I am still on page 229 (that is what I get for having a pool party at my house last night!) and I do not know if the following has been brought up in the talk about MMC shirt night.

It was mentioned that the first 3 nights are the rotations in each dining room. This was not true on the EBTA

It was the 4th night before we started the rotational dining.

As I said - this may have already been addressed - but wanted to bring it to your attention in case it had not.

Krisann

Yeah I think someone had got confused. The Conceirge list of dates we were given said night 4-6 were rotational!

I think its DisneyVegas you need to talk to

CHEAP, CUTE KIDS' SLEEPING MASKS:

I found some adorable sleeping masks on eBay for $.99 plus $.99 S&H! They ship internationally from Hong Kong. I checked the S&H fees for Australia, Canada, USA, and UK, and they were all $.99 USD.

Find them with the following keyword search:
"Eye mask Lovely proud funny sleeping and travelling" (yes, traveling is spelled wrong in the description)

I even saw licenses characters of Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty in their listing.

...To be honest I would rather a photo on board. I think the embarkation morning will be just too fraught. I know I will be all sixes and sevens and just wanting to get on my way and not waiting around for everyone to get in in order for a photo. I'm just too impatient!!!!!;)....
Need a slight chuckle this Sunday morning? ZEN TEACHINGS....

No worries! On-board group photos will happen, too!

I love the Zen Teachings List! I even added it to FB to share!

....Not a bad idea to meet at 830 on the terrace - that way everyone is together and we are there for the bus. I am sure that we can hand cameras to someone for the shot - and if not, Glenn has a tripod, an I think a remote control to snap the photo! (And there I go signing him up for more! Again - sorry dear!)....

....So, tomorrow I am sending a package to the ship!... :dance3:

Thanks Glenn!

That's so thrilling to think you're sending off a package....for THIS cruise...ALREADY!!! :yay::yay:

ABout to rant

My stupid sil let my stupid 14yo neice get her tongue percied, I could happily bang there heads together.

Rant over.
Well till I see her again and she cant talk or eat:headache:

I don't blame you! I also don't judge kids for their appearance. The bug I have about is that at 14, these KIDS shouldn't be making (semi-permanent) decisions about their body. I know some schools around here won't allow kids to have their body piercing jewelry in/on during the school day except for their ears.

Some one at work a few weeks ago asked me If I had every thought about anger management classes when I couldnt get the window to shut:lmao:
Honestly they are so touchy.....

:lmao::lmao:

OK, jewellery people. I was looking at timings and dates and I think the best option would be 19th and 21st September from 3 to 4 PM.

....I really like Hayley's idea of doing a Champagne Girl theme (pink) for the necklace. So there are now three options: Villain, Champagne Girl or Ship. If you have given me your preference already and would like to change your mind, please let me know.

The Champagne Girl comment also got my creative juices going in another direction. One of my suppliers does little Tinkerbell charms. So for the cell phone charm, we could either go with a pirate theme (silver skull beads and crystals in ship's colours) or with a Champagne Girl theme (Tinkerbell and pink crystals)...

Awesome! I loved Hayley's idea of the Champagne Girls, too! So I'm changing my vote!

Necklace: Champagne Girl
Cell Phone Charm: Champagne Girl (because Tink is my favorite character!)

Thank you again, Corinna!!!! :goodvibes

Hi Everyone -

A while back I had pulled a master list of swaps together so we coukld track cabin changes and groups, etc. On the list I have the following:
  1. FE
  2. Candy
  3. Secret mickey
  4. Post Card
  5. Scrapbook
Were there other lists we wanted tracked? Please let me know as I want to get this updated...

I still have a few pages to catch up on, so maybe these has been brought up, but the Lanyards, Come See Me, and Stateroom Tours should also be added to that list. I know they're not "Swaps" groups, but they are all dependent on cabins.

Hi guys! Long time no post!

We got back yesterday from camp. It was really nice at times, and totally understimulating at other times.....

Carolynn, welcome back!!! it really does sound like even you made some good memories of the kids' camp!

The Fountain- Can we come also?...
.....I guess I completely missed the discussion about the Magic Fountain. :confused3 I don't want to invite myself :crowded: if this is a private event but if it's open to all, where are you meeting? 9:30 am/pm? I have an event scheduled in the evening but will probably be done by 9pm if this is a night event....

As later stated, it is private to 136 DIS families! Sorry I didn't clarify this is at night. They have a light show with the dancing music in the evenings from 21:30 - 23:30 on the half hour. I did go back to the original post and clarified the time in case anyone is still catching up. :)

It seems that many are in agreement to leave the Praktik at 8:30 pm. Since you won't be available until 9 pm, I could always bring an umbrella so you (and anyone else) can more easily find the group at the fountain. How does that sound?

.....Ok will try to keep up but with Finals this week i wont be on again until after Aug 3. Hopefully Annette will keep up and let me know. She only has 1 Final this week i have 3:scared1: What was i thinking?

Good luck to you both on your finals!!

We now have back up flights booked from Leeds Bradford to Barcelona! ....

I'm so sorry that many of you are strongly feeling the need to get a back-up plan for air travel. That just totally stinks!

What a week. I have done two telephone media interviews on Jackie (the person in the link I posted). I got out of the TV interview you guys saw by taking my PT with me to the interview. Today we had another TV interview with another TV station so I took both my PT and OT with me. Guess who they interviewed? ME! :scared1: Those two just stood back and even when I tried to get them in the interview they just smiled. I hope it comes out okay. You feel like a babbling fool talking to the camera.

Anyway, I am hoping her story will make a difference...even if it is for one person. Our hopes are that people will see that anything is possible and that there are services out there that can help you get some quality of life.

Someone asked what I do. I am in rehab. I manage a Day Rehab program. Our patients come 5 days a week for about 6 hours a day. We treat a lot of stroke patients, spinal cord, brain injury, MS, amputees and are now taking LVAD http://www.hearthope.com/?gclid=CJPuopvEgKMCFSH5iAod1yR-bg patients. I am a licensed individual, family and group therapist. My team consists of Physical Therapists (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), a Registered Nurse (RN) a rehab aide and a operations coordinator.

It is a rewarding field and as you could see from the link I posted earlier. I am always humbled by their journey. When they come to us in a wheel chair and can barely sit let alone take care of themselves to when they leave walking or independent in their wheel chair. Sadly, the mean age of the patients is 42. Our youngest stroke patient was 12.

I will post the link when the new interview is aired.

I'm actually an OT! I agree it is a very rewarding profession (most days:rolleyes1) I love the days when you think "Ok...I'm definately coming back tomorrow!" Congratulations on your success.

I can tell that we are getting closer to cruise day! The amount of posts in a 4 hour span is increasing! 4 pages today while I brought lunch to my Mom and then went to Target... I was able to get a power converter, a sleep mask (hoping it will help me to sleep), some packing cubes for items that can be rolled up (I haven't used before, wo it is a trial...). Starting to get the odds and ends for the trip - It is really time to start the packing!!

There is a muliti quote button. Who knew. I just copy each quote to word then copy and paste.:scared1:

Will have to look for this button any instructions where to find it :goodvibes

I know it was pointed out before - just be warned, it has a nasty habit of disappearing...

My husband and I are hoping for the same thing. We are traveling with our 2 DD's 6 & 7 and have already started talking up the kids club. This will be their 2nd cruise so they have an idea. We can try and hook the kids up at the Dis meet.

Looks like we will have quite the group of little girls!! I hope they all get along!! We need a Little Princess meet... :thumbsup2

Off to buy GK's first day of school outfits. Can you believe their first day of school is Monday? I would hate not having the entire summer off but DD likes the schedule.

Curious about their calendar! We start the first Monday of August, and then do a 6 on 1 off schedule for hte most part all year. So we are off the first week of the cruise, a full week at Thanksgiving, 2 full weeks at Christmas, a week in Feb and a week in April - and we still get 9 weeks off in the summer.

question: were there any extra t-shirts? I thought I read once there was - could whoever had this information PM me if there is or not and also what sizes you have.

What color is the shirt? We do not have them and do not want to look out of place in the picture so if there is no more shirts I will wear that color at least.

Krisann

There were extra shirts - Todd was managing that. They are white - and you can see the graphics in post one. Also, if the sizes you need are not available you can pull the high def graphic off of the web site (www.transatlanticpirates.com) and print your own. I would PM Todd for the shirt details.

What time are you planning on going to the Fountain on Friday night? DH and I might be able to join you.

Depending on how Becca is doing Friday night might work better for us as well... Hard to tell at this point... She could sleep on the flight and be fine, or she may nap and need to crash at 8... I worry most about her, versus Stephen, because at 13 he can handle being tired much better than Becca at age 6...

I didn't think there was a morning fountain show since I assumed we were going to see the lights and water show (but I have no factual idea.) I think we were talking about Thursday evening, with the earliest show being at 8:30 with several more afterwards. Sounds like there may be some going on Friday too.

This sounds like a great plan!!! Can I borrow it?

This is such a great group - the ideas that are shared here are awesome - and often provide an answer to a nagging concern. THANKS EVERYONE!!!

Me too! Me Too! Missed the deadline. Please let me know if you have any extra t-shirts.

Andrea - see my notes above on the shirts. If I am not mistaken they are $16 plus shipping.

Laura, I'm starting to be able to read your mind. I told Johanna at the meet last night that I thought April might be coming.

Good for you for arranging it with the school. I have not said one word to them yet. Figured I'll take care of that once the administration is back in after the Summer break. Not sure how they will react, but I'm going to ask for 2 weeks of independent study. If they won't grant it, well then he'll just be absent.

But we are women so we pick up on each other much quicker. :rotfl2: Long story short, it looked like April was going to be cut from her HS volleyball team. She was MVP of club team but current setter and coach are family friends and current setter's older sister was 4-yr setter and all-star. Turns out that HS coach wasn't playing April and she was getting frustrated. I foresaw some conflict early in summer season and was making preparations in case she was cut to cheer her up. Truth be told, I expected the school to say no. But Steve jumped the gun and told her what I was planning. LADIES? NEVER, EVER tell you DH's what your planning - they will spill. :lmao: Anyway, she got all excited about seeing Collin her fav beverage waiter and I didn't have the heart to tell her no.

Anywho, we worked out the situation, she spoke with coach and looks like he wants to keep her Hmmm, wonder if the Whittier College Coach telling him she wants to work personally with April had anything to do with that? ;) Fingers crossed for a chance to play college volleyball or a partial scholarship hopefully or at least some play time for college next year. So HS coach has told her that she's on the team but not to say anything or the other girls will want to know too. She was ready to politely quit. So that's why she ended up here, Steve opened his mouth too early.

OK, not all that. Megan - my oldest daughter suggested that it might be best to take her since I should not leave Andrew and April alone in the house together for a few weeks. Seeing as all adults are going to be home, I'm sure there will be a few parties going on while we are gone. :scared1:

But in regards to the school. I was aware that one girl for the last 3 yrs has been going to Columbia for Xmas break and takes an extended leave. I asked her for advice and she suggest I don't ask, that I "inform" them of the leave of Absence. So, I did just that. I explained that due to a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, that was too cheap to pass up, she had a chance to go to some very holy places (Hey I didn't lie) I might have implied that she was going to see the Vatician (she's been there twice) and that she could be in daily contact with her teachers via e-mail. Also, that she would have a couple hours each morning to do her homework. Then I explained that when her Grandfarther passed away in March of 2009, we pulled her out for 8 days and other than depression, she maintained her 4.0 GPA w/o any long-term effects. I also told her that due to her involvement in sports, it would not affect her Campus Ministry obligations since sports already does that. So in essence, she really wasn't missing any more than the usual time. And since its so early in the year, I was confident she could make up any work. Then I compounded it by asking for a next day answer. We had a teacher's funeral that shut down the school for a few days. Anyway, long story short, Mrs D came to bat for us - she :lovestruc us and got permission.

I, too, was going to just pull her but decided, since its her last year, I'd better play fair. Worked for me but this is a Private Catholic HS. And I'm overly involved with the school. And it doesn't help that I take pictures for the AD which just happens to be an asst counselor and baseball coach whom I give pictures too. :teeth: Sometimes, brown-nosing helps.

So that's my story, she wasn't going to go but is now and now I have to make sure that we get the waiter she wanted. Now how am I going to guarantee that? BTW, request already put in but have to get to the ship early to change that. LOL

Sorry so long, just wanted to relate how everything ended up aligning for us. I hope it does for you too! :littleangel: (sending out angel wishes that things go well for you too)

Maybe promising HW or classwork being done will help? Or even e-mail contact with the teachers? That's what I did. One condition with us is that she MUST tell her teacher's beforehand and the counselor will tell them that this is an already approved LOA by both VP and Principal. They can't say anything about it. They won't be happy but heck, it's done. If T will take his books, maybe they can sit down together and do HW. I figure - she wants to play - she's gotta pay so she'll be carrying a packpack of heavy school books if they give the work before hand. Otherwise - she's SOL and has to do it after.

First....Marilyn, thanks for the laughs!

Whom do we contact for linking early dining?

xCarolynn

Me, me!!! :yay: I sent you a PM. :thumbsup2

I also just want to say: :disrocks:
I simply can't wait to meet everyone!!!! I really think this is an amazing group of people who are working so hard to make this a trip of a lifetime!!! Thank you!!!!!! :cloud9:
:grouphug::grouphug:

IMHO these things like piercings and tattoos always look quite cool and trendy on the young people .... but not so attractive once you get beyond a certain age and everything starts to head south .. ie. my age :rotfl2::rotfl2:
QUOTE]

That's what I tell my nieces, daughters, granddaughter....imagine that cute tattoo across you back stretched out beyond recognition and then wrinkled up!! EEEWWW...no longer cute!! Just me though, and they all still have gotten them. :rolleyes1

Ok I want to throw this out there and I am willing to head it up if enough people want to do it. On the WBPC 2008 cruise we had glow in the dark/green bracelets that had the cruise info on it. These were really great to identify people who might not be wearing lanyards (no name, just an "identifier") and i tended to wear them at times I did not wear my lanyard (like at the pools, spa, exercise, etc.) and the kids loved them!

Anyway - we could do this for $1.50 each band (this is at the min of 100 ordered) or if I had 27 people who wanted to donate $10 each (or less if we have more people) we could buy enough to give everyone in the DIS group one.

It is just an idea I had as I was going through cruise stuff from past cruises - no problems if no one likes the idea - but just thought I would throw it out there.

If you are interested either way - please PM me and I will let you know if we get enough interest.

Please tell me how many you would like to get at the $1.50 and if you are willing to do the $10 for the whole group IF we get enough people to contribute.

Krisann

I made a Google Earth map with some of the more famous sites (plus a couple of hotels and restaurants). It shows the various Metro lines (color coded) that link the different sites.

Where does the ship dock? Where's the grocery store? I heard it was near the Columbus statue......

Champagne girls is open to all 'girls'. No list has been made as yet, and Connie(CQuick) is doing the organising.

Just add a touch of pink to your dress for the event, and most are going to wear pink boas and tiaras. Connie is taking more is you can't get one.

I think she will be trying to get the event organised by DCL, but if not then it could be a few folk will get a bottle to take onboard. Watch our for more info!!!!

I could be wrong, but I think our Theme night hasn't been published as yet, but on the EB, and the other European cruises it has indeed been Villains themed, so I' guessing ours will be too. Some people are dressing to kill for the night!!!:rotfl2: Others are just colour co-ordinating their attire purple and black. Some are just going to observe!!!!!

What a GREAT explaination, Marilyn! I am going to make a couple phone calls tomorrow to DCL about the Champagne Girls thing. A

A couple people mentioned perhaps after the afternoon tea? Or would that be too late? Too close to dinner? Just not sure, but ALL GIRLS are invited, whether they drink champagne or not!

Just watched toy story 2, forgot how good it was, esp the outakes at he end.
:woohoo::woohoo:Wre going on a disney cruise.
We like chocolate Hobnobs.

Woody
Yes, but Woody, i knew you had good taste;)
ooohhhh ... I am officially a champagne girl ... I just won this on Ebay:
