OK for those of you in the UK who have seen or heard mention of the Newport State of Mind video on you tube that reached over 1,000,000 hits in 3 days and has become an over night success (it works off the New York State of Mind by Jay Z and Alicia Keys as the basis) I wanted to share this with everyone. Its all about the Town where I live
You Tube
Very cool Sarah, but as others have said, I needed those subtitles. BTW, I love that song, the original that is.
Hi fellow cruisers, I'm Sue, a new cruiser, mother of 'noworriesmate' and grandmother to Nicholas and Lillian. I'm delighted to be joining them on this Atlantic crossing, and certainly look forward to meeting you all.
Welcome, Are you Aussies aswell? I am Hayley, I will be travelling with my DH, Terry and 2 DD's Lucy and Bella. We live on the Gold Coast, QLD in Australia.
I'm sure they will come through way before then. One day someone will come on here all excited, and lo and behold everyone will have their room numbers!!! Maps out ready to check where they are!!!!
Then everyone can tell me if my room is Ok or whether I need to stock up on ear plugs or sea sickness medication. I have no idea
Hi everyone!
Just popping by to let you know that I'm booking this cruise as a last minute 'sanity saver' for myself!!! My name's Karen, I'm from the UK and this will be my 6th
DCL cruise and by far my longest to date! I expect to be in a Cat 7 with late dining.
I know everyone has posted about page 1 and all the stuff going on, I'm a little behind, different time zone and all, I'm sleeping while you guys are chatting, Just wanted to say Hi and Welcome, so Hi and Welcome!
Im in a bad mood cause I was really busy at work last night and needed a sleep, summer and nightshift just doesnt go, its not our neighbours fault but they are "doing my head in" every time I shut my eyes they turn on some kinda noisyn machine. Anyway, gave up on sleep, being tired is better than frustrated and tired, waiting for Len to come in and going for a run.
Lynne, where do you get your energy from, your tired and haven't slept and your going for a run....Good for you! I must admit, I do feel better and more energetic on my training days though.
I have the terrific job of cleaning my dd's room (with her help). She is 10 and a packrat. We have spent an hour just hauling things out of her room and aren't finished yet. We are sorting, purging and organizing. As a reward we are buying her a new desk for all her drawing supplies and having sushi for dinner. I hope my dust allergies settle down before then! Her room is truly horrible. Wish me luck! My mom Tru promised to call me later to make sure I was still alive. Currently I am on break with a cup of homemade chai. Yum.
GOOD LUCK, I have a 7 and a 9 year old. We call my 7 year old a 'bower bird', she has a big treasure box under her bed where she keeps her 'treasures' which consist of pretty rocks, feathers, shells, buttons, etc......
And my 9 year old holds everything as "special", she finds something sentimental in everything she's ever been given.
So, I really wish you Good Luck, I hope you come out alive!
Here is my tv interview with Jackie. She is amazing and this is definately worth watching. I have my grandchildren watch it to appreciate what they have and how in a split second it can be taken away.

Amazing women, so positive. And you did a great job with the interview, Good Onya!
My son's the drummer for his band. And everyone knows, the band ALWAYS practices at the drummer's house!
Andrea
Lucky you!
A couple of my DIS chat-friends from the LGBT boards just happened to look at our thread and to the first couple pages of posts and I think they're exact quote was "Holy Spreadsheets, Batman!"
Love it!
So I had some fun with my return flights from Orlando to Phila today.
I told my DIL we can do more shopping and pick up a cheap suitcase since we can now bring 2 suitcases each for the way home.
Hey, more luggage = more shopping, I think it's safe to say things turned out better this way!
Yeah....Jason and I will definitely be booking at least one set of 2012 dummy dates while we're aboard the ship. We're already booked on three cruises in 2011 (the LA to Vancouver Repo B2B w/ the first Alaskan and then the Labor Day 4-night cruise aboard the Dream)....but we know the ship is doing Hawaii in 2012 probably and we're hoping that maybe even some other fun trips OUT of Hawaii, too...so we're gonna book dummy dates (since itineraries will certainly not be out yet) and then transfer them when we know more.
We would like to book a Hawaiian cruise for 2012, I'm assuming there will be a repositioning cruise to Hawaii which would suit us perfectly. I am assuming the details won't be out by the time we cruise, So how do I go about booking onboard? Do I book just any cruise and then change the dates, ie dummy dates?
Well, things are finally coming together. My jewellery for formal night finally turned up today and is utterly gorgeous. I rushed out of the house this morning and never put any jewellery on so I am wearing the set now. I can't wait to wear this with my evening gowns.
My Champagne Girl tiara arrived yesterday. It is tiny and esstially just a comb with some frills, but it is really cute and will do. I also got my pillow case to be signed by the characters yesterday. So now I am pretty much ready. I just need the components for the last Fish Extended gift, which will be custom made for me.
DH is starting to get in on the excitement as well. He has been shaking his head for months now about me making magnets and having t shirts printed for the cruise. This morning he said that he had seen a t shirt somewhere with the caption "Six out of seven dwarfs are not Happy". He really wanted one of those. So I got on to one of the talented DISigners and he made me up a great graphic, which I will have printed on a t shirt for DH. I can't wait to see his face when he sees this.
Corinna
Can't wait to check out all your dresses and matching jewellery!
I have a mini tiara too, it's all I could squeeze into the lugagge!

Great idea to make the shirt for DH. Last time we went to WDW I bought a great shirt for my DH with Mr Potatoe Head on the front, it read "I pick my nose". I love it!
I totally do not understand what you are saying - sorry - please explain my brain must be fried!
Krisann, I think it's one of those international language things, I think 'mind' means 'remember'. As in "I can't remember". Lynne, If I'm wrong please correct me.....
I would love to know, too! When I joined the thread in October 2008, I started a list, but it was just impossible to maintain it and it seemed others were managing the incoming with the website, so I gave it up. If I can say so myself, what I had kept was fun and helpful to use. It was always nice to tell a newbie that we had # of other sons and/or daughters the same age as theirs. The master cabin list was helpful as well and Sue's is nearly identical to what I did. Someone created a deck plan that highlighted each cabin where a DISer was staying. That visual map really helped with FE gift distributions and just to intentionally do a drive-by to see their decorated doors.
I would love a map of our groups staterooms, being a first time cruiser I know I will get lost, and it will take me a whole day to deliver 15 gifts! Does anyone know how to do this, If someone tells me I can give it a go?
waiting, waiting........
Well done!!!
Done. Thanks for doing this. Here are some pictures of our son's wedding from Sunday.

Love the pink and green bridesmaid dresses, very pretty. Looks like a beautiful ceremony.
Hey, I know we have a lot of plans for this cruise, but do we have anything planned to celebrate this day?
Yep, My DD's birthday! I am trying to organise for the kids to drop by our room at a certain time to pick up some sweets? Any other ideas...anybody......how can I organise this? Is a 1 hour time slot long enough? What time is best? OK, so I know that has nothing to do with Pirate day, but you reminded me, Thanks.
Well I am sitting here quite miserable for my trouble today. My allergies are quite severe, even after an antihistamine. I am so allergic to dust and boy was there plenty. We managed to strip the room bare (my livingroom looks like I am a hoarder - best close the blinds!), dusted, wet-dusted, cleaned everything, swept and washed the floors, and managed to sort, organize and put away every stitch of clothing she owns (and mentally made a packing list for the trip), and rearranged her furniture. The room looks great! The problem is, none of her stuff is in it!

Tomorrow we do the yucky stuff of going through everything and purging. She is so not looking forward to letting anything go. But part of being a parent is to introduce them to new and challenging things, and this activity has that in spades. Our reward for tomorrow is going to IKEA for new sheets and her desk.
Your totally suburban day sounds like one of mine, don't apologise for being a good mother. I hope your allergies calm down, try having a shower and blowing as much dust out as possible, helps me
Been there done that!

Love that photo, just gorgeous. Hawaii is definitely on our bucket list.
Gus just gave me an iPad for my birthday!!! Woohoooo!!!!
Now I have something cool to play with on the long flight....if we get to fly (we're on BA).
Yay, great present! We're on BA too, Wouldn't that suck, flying all the way from Australia to London, and getting stuck there! Should I be checking out alternative arrangements?
