Still trying to track down BIL. Will be online later. Prayers and pixiedust: for BIL Joe, please!!
:hug::hug:From Candida and myself

Well i got my MRI results today. Well there is nothing broke, ligament damage or tendon damage. They found a slight sprain and fluid in the wrist. This did show on the last MRI and this one shows that it healing. They think that the fluid is causing the pain and swelling. They give me pills for that and they told to give it another 6 to 8 weeks.. It has already been 8 weeks. At least I'm not on any restrictions and I should be healed by the time of the cruise. :cool1:

Stephen
That's good news, hope it heals up quickly for you.

Hello everybody. DW (PrincessShmoo) finally got me to register. I will probably be mainly a lurker, since DW seems to be keeping me pretty well informed about the goings on around here.

:surfweb:

When I posted the information about Gibraltar earlier, someone asked about the bus pass which is part of the SkyWalk Combo package. On the web site it states that you have to pick up the pass at the Spanish border, which is obviously not realistic for us (it would cost more to get there than the value of the bus pass!). Here is the reply - at long last - from Gibraltar tourism:

"I believe they are made available to the cruise liners as well.

In fact i think they offer a free coach service from the cruise terminal
to the main square, Casemates."

It doesn't really answer the question but to me the bus pass isn't a deal breaker. I think it's only 1 pound, anyway.

It was me that asked. I agree not a deal breaker. Do you know who offers free coach service to the terminal? Is this the same company that offers the Skywalk Combo pack?

Q & A's from first class website:

Q. How much does it weigh?
A. It weighs just over a pound.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. How small does it get when it is totally deflated and rolled up?
A. It folds down to the size of a bulky travel umbrella or a 20 oz. water bottle.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Does it work for car travel?
A. Yes, but we don’t want the driver using it for obvious reasons. For the passenger, it works fine, but because most car seats wrap around your back somewhat, you will need to use less air than in a coach seat.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I am 6’2”. Am I too tall to use the sleeper?
A. No, at 6’2” you should be just fine. 6’3” is right at the limit and at 6’4” you would be too tall to use it unless your are in an emergency exit row.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I’m 5’ tall. Am I too short?
A. No, but we will ask you to do one thing different. We want you to sit on the bottom 2” of the sleeper. This allows your head and neck to be cradled correctly in the head support.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. I’m big ( 300 lbs.) is it going to work for me?
A. I’m the inventor and I’m not exactly petite at 6’1” and 240 lbs. It should work for you, though you will only need 8-9 breaths of air. For anyone over 300 lbs., I wouldn’t recommend it.

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Will if work in First Class and Business Class?
A. Absolutely! Because the seat is bigger, you will need a little more air (13-14 breaths versus 10-11 in coach).

----------------------------------------------------------------
Q. How do I clean it?
A. Warm water and mild dish soap.

How kind of you to find that! Thank you.

Yes, if you use a TA you can't see the details of your cruise. Your TA will have to check for you. I've had reservations booked with DCL and with TA, and have transferred from DCL to DU, and lost the ability to see the money details once it's with a TA.

That's kind of what I figured, thanks.

Oh yeah! Not sure how to play Mahjongg tiles in cards but I love to play it on my phone. But I would love to watch. I'm so addicted.

Is the game app one where you match tiles? The real game isn't anything like that; it's much more like rummy. But once you learn, it's addicting too. I just love playing (we actually have a neighborhood group going).

I believe that this is the same as the TSA Secure Flight program in the USA:

TSA Regulation
Secure Flight is a program developed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The mission of the Secure Flight program is to enhance the security of domestic and international commercial air travel. The TSA requirements apply to flights currently being booked.

Under the Secure Flight Final Rule, airlines will collect and send to the TSA the following additional information from passengers when making a reservation to fly within, into or out of the United States:

•Full Name (required), as it appears on government-issued I.D. approved for use when traveling
•Date of Birth (required)
•Gender (required)
•Redress Number (optional)
Note: Secure Flight uses the results of the Redress process in its watch list matching process. This prevents future misidentifications for passengers who may have a name that is similar to an individual on the watch list. Passengers who believe they have been mistakenly matched to a name on the watch list are invited to apply for Redress through DHS TRIP. You can get more information on the redress process at www.dhs.gov/trip.

More information regarding Secure Flight is available from the TSA online: www.tsa.gov/what_we_do/layers/secureflight/index.shtm.

You all are so knowledgeable about so many important things, and we are very lucky to be able to tap into that knowledge. Many thanks.

As promised, I went to a bridal salon to day to check out some formals because I really really have an itch to get a new gown! princess: I found one that I thought was pretty and looked good on me, even though my flabby arms would be exposed! It didn't have as much bling as I wanted though. I thought about many of you as I was staring at the mirror, and I might have to agree that the arms are less noticeable with a good looking dress on. Anyways, it was slightly above my budget, so I had her write the style down for me in case I decide to go back. I'm still not sure about the princess ball gown I have my eyes on on eBay. It's SO stunning, but I'm still not sure it would be a better look on me than the one I tried on today. My mom and grandmother will give me an honest opinion, so since I'll see them later this week, I'm holding off. Thankfully I/we still have a little time to procrastinate!

Speaking of going up north to see DM and DGM....

Since it's officially Tuesday, I can say that tomorrow I have my mini DIS Meets with Kimberly aka Kimmy!!! :woohoo: I'm really looking forward to it!

Sadly, I'm finding myself skimming more and more. I hope I haven't missed anything too significant!

....In Gibraltar, we went to the Central Post Office. It's on Main Street between Tuckey's Lane and Market Lane. Postage to the U.S. is 51 pence.

There is a post office in Funchal right in the heart of town, close to the Zarco monument. The post office is on Avenida Zarco one half block north of Avenida Arriaga.

Excellent! I've also tucked these details away with my growing facts sheet!

.....We got engaged at WDW in September of 2008 right before our first Disney cruise ....

....My mom sewed hidden Mickey's onto my dress....

I have to share this with the group, Amy. A couple of us from our DIS Meets were (not literally) placing bets between one another that Dave would propose to Amy while they were at WDW MONTHS before September ever came around. In fact, we thought that maybe it would happen earlier in the year when Amy and her family went to WDW, so we were on the edge of our keyboards waiting to hear if it happened. No news meant it didn't. So for certain, we just KNEW it was going to happen right before the cruise or even ON the cruise. :goodvibes

Well I was at WDW for the week prior the cruise with no internet access, so I knew I wouldn't find out until we got to Port Canaveral. The night before the cruise, several families all got together for dinner at Grills. I found out then about Amy and Dave's exciting news!!! I just couldn't wait to see them!

So on Saturday morning, as you all know, you're just so anxious to meet everyone in person!! One of our DISers, Denise, who had many exchanges of PMs with me about our bets, sees me for the first time and comes running to me in the terminal saying "THEY DID IT!! THEY DID IT, AND I BROUGHT A COPY OF OUR PMs TO SHOW HERE WE HAD BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR MONTHS!!!" :rotfl2:

OMG! Amy and Dave were our own celebrities!! :rotfl: Everyone was so thrilled for them!! So I'm walking around the port looking for her, and when I see her, she throws her arms out for a big hug and says "KIMBERLYYYYYY!!! I'm so happy to see you!" Although the hug was great, I just wanted to see the RING! :rotfl: :goodvibes

Just got this text message from my nephew Will.....as it is my dad is on his way to Sacramento in an ambulance....he had Acute Pancreatitis, or an infection of his Pancreas. He and I are alright and we wish you the best of summers.

Sending prayers your DBIL's way. Can I also just say that the maturity of this 16 year old nephew is amazing? He's wishing you the best of summers after he just got his dad into an ambulance. God love him!

....I'm with you on the not dressing up really! I don't like trousers though so have to do the dress thing - with cycling shorts underneath knowing me lol!

What?!!! Now I know you didn't miss the Spanx chats! :rotfl2: Go get your Spanx at QVC

So I thought I would contact DCL regarding the fuel supplement again .....

....We regret any disappointment and hope these concerns will not continue to affect your regard for Disney. We hope you understand our position regarding this situation, as this will be our final correspondence
relating to the fuel supplement on your vacation.
...

Ummmm. Yeah. That last sentence is not at all what I would expect from a CM.

.....Ssssssshhhhhhh, listen - is that the sound of pixie dust being sucked into the black hole of Disney Corporate Indifference? ...

Funny!

Ok, CHIPMUNKS are called: Streifen - Hoernchen in German.
smiley3144.gif

So... there's the HOERNCHEN again.
smiley4996.gif

Oh Steffi! You just know how to make me smile! I'm so impressed that you are so fluent with English and that you keep teaching us! Chipmunks, squirrels....you knew Chip 'N Dale were some little critter! Kuddos to you for even attempting to translate!

I went to the mailbox and found my Purex 3-1 complete! Another thing to pack for vacation!! :cool1:

I got mine on Saturday as well!

Well i got my MRI results today. Well there is nothing broke, ligament damage or tendon damage. They found a slight sprain and fluid in the wrist. This did show on the last MRI and this one shows that it healing....

Well at least you are going in the right direction! I hope the meds will relieve some of this pain. So sorry it's taking this long!

I just wanted to share Youtube Video's to get ready for Madeira: From Eusébia ....

Oh thank you so much for forwarding, and Eusébia, if you are still lurking, THANK YOU for sharing!! This indeed gets me very excited to go and experience another culture!

....Have to share - this is Stephen all packed up and ready for Teen Expedition at our outdoor YMCA. It is a great program - but this is the first time he has been away from home (and not with family) for a week... My baby is growing up... :sad2: Can you tell I miss him already??....

Awe! It will be alright, mom! He is indeed a handsome guy and looks pretty happy to go on his adventure! Keep us posted if you hear any news from him about their trip!

....The insurance company denied my MRI so I have to go to a specialist. I should have done that in the first place. My bad. I see him on Wednesday...:rolleyes1

See this is why people abuse the ER. Any tests the ER wants to do are automatically covered.

Oh geesh. *sigh* Well thankfully you'll see the specialist really soon and not have to wait any longer.

I *so* agree with you on the abuse of ERs. It's abused on so many levels. :sad2:

Hello everybody. DW (PrincessShmoo) finally got me to register. I will probably be mainly a lurker, since DW seems to be keeping me pretty well informed about the goings on around here.

:surfweb:

Hey there!!! Glad you've chimed in!

Thank to everyone who posted their prayers and well wishes to my BIL Joe and his son Will. Here is an update:

I spoke with Joe several times since he has been admitted. So far, they think he may have Acute Pancreatitis but the diagnosis has not been confirmed. They have run numerous tests and drawn lots of blood for testing. His blood sugar when he first was seen in ER was 450 but now is down with insulin to 230. He does not know how long he will be in the hospital.

What is sad that on top of the almost $1,000 a month he pays for Kaiser, he tells me he has to pay $200 a day as a copay for hospitalization. Doesn't seem quite right to me, but he pays for his own insurance. Sure makes me glad for employer based insurance. DH is old enough for Medicare plus supplement but not me!! Lucky, as long as he works, we both will have full coverage on the excellent insurance plan his company provides.

Will is back home now. My sister Cheryl picked him up. She and her family were on their way back from Big Sur to Mt. Shasta. Though it was about a hundred plus mile detour, they were able to bring him home.

Will is concerned about his dad but acting like he is very mature young man. He has been through so much in his young life that I pray his Dad will recover speedily. I see more of his Mother in him every day. I think he will do well in life.

Just my thoughts....
:surfweb:

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!! In the last 24 hours, someone booked the seat next to me on my flight from PHL to BCN. :sad2: :sad2: I was so hopeful it would stay open. :sad2:

Noel, I'm sure Will has many concerning thoughts going through his mind tonight that he wouldn't ever speak of. It's good to know that your DBIL is becoming more stable, but that's a terrible financial hardship.

I agree about Will but at least he is talking and not withdrawing into himself. He was talking about helping his Dad change his diet, his school schedule, his college plans and other normal things to me. It just makes me feel hopeful to his future.

Totally agree with you about the hospital costs!!

That's GREAT that he's wanting to help so much!! I think you're right that he's going to be alright! Your sister is no doubt looking down on him with a proud smile and warm embrace. :littleangel:

Question for anybody -

Does anyone know the width or measurement of the slanted wall where the fish hook is just before you enter your stateroom? DH and I are having a disagreement as I bought what I consider a "good enough" fish mail holder. DH says its too wide. He's the numbers person and I'm the eyeballer. (No comments from the peanut factory please) I trust my eye - its pretty "dead on." ;)

I am so excited,,, my nephew is going to New Zealand for the Pan Pacific Tournament. He plays water polo in high school and apparently is pretty good.

They will be staying in Aukland and will be staying at the Sacred Heart College.

The width of the FE is supposed to be eight inches.

Welcome!

Noel, glad to hear your brother is stabilizing.

The width of the FE is supposed to be eight inches.

I concur. More then 8 inches and it will not lay flat on the small wall section.

Better news that your BIL's blood are settling. I hope they get him stablised soon - it can be a few days before they allow him home, depending on whether the diagnosis is acute pancreatitis, and the severity of the illness. They have to watch him closely for a few days too and make sure the pain is under control.

What a nightmare about the health and hospital costs. It is an added worry too.:sad2:

It must have been a big worry for Will, but it seems he has a strong spirit!!:thumbsup2

Good morning everyone :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 WE ARE NOW IN THE 70s .....wooooooo hooooooo

Unfortunately I am struggling to keep up with everything at the moment ... mainly because with this splint on my hand I really struggle to type. I am reading everything and when I can't use the laptop ( we only have one working computer in house at the moment, so if any of kids are about ... forget it ) I read posts on Ipod touch. So apologies for not responding to posts as often as I used to .... it is very frustrating.

To keep me occupied during this period of enforced resting of the right hand I have been to the library and got hold of some travel books. Hopefully that will keep me happy. My main gripe is that I can't get on with FE gifts :sad2:

Well i got my MRI results today. Well there is nothing broke, ligament damage or tendon damage. They found a slight sprain and fluid in the wrist. Stephen

Sorry to hear you are still experiencing pain .... it is so frustrating isn't it. Hope you are fully recovered by the cruise.

Possibly, we booked thru DCL. When I log into DCL and then go to my reservaion on the first page the first section is My Reservation and about 4 lines down is a link "View cruise". When I click there it goes to a page with the monies broken out, showing cost per person, taxes, fuel supplement, airfare, airfare taxes and total. I don't know if you can get there if you're booked through a TA. Maybe ask the TA to check?

:cutie:

I booked with DU and can't access this either. I contacted DU about the fuel supplement and they said I hadn't been charged one in the first place. I don't know if this is correct, as I booked in November 2008, but I can't check up so will have to take their word for it.

Thank to everyone who posted their prayers and well wishes to my BIL Joe and his son Will. Here is an update:

Sending :hug::hug: and lots of :wizard::wizard: that your BIL makes a full recovery. It must be such a worrying time for you all. :sad2::sad2:

Paula ......as far as I know the Advanced Passenger Information is required by airlines. I had to fill it out for BA & Virgin (to Barcelona & the U.S.) so I'm guessing it would be the same for other airlines? May be worth checking under the 'manage my booking' on the websites. :) (and there are no silly questions in my opinion!:thumbsup2)

Thanks for this and the other subsequent comments. Its looks like its something at this stage fairly specific to the UK, EU and USA - I knew about the USA but not the others. The BA website said you can do it in advance or at checkin so not to be too concerned about if forgotten. Its a few years since I've been over that side of the world and the USA one was introduced a few months after our last trip. Guess I need to get out more :rotfl:

Have to admit, I've been known to hit the GW quite a bit myself!! Lots of ritzy people in Atlanta dump some REALLY nice stuff sometimes!:cool1:

Love GW - my favourite store! I have the address for the one in Kissimmee... who am I kidding, I don't need the address, I know exactly where it is... just a couple of blocks along from the SA store ;)

When you go to your reservation, click on "View cruise details" it should open a page with the charges broken out. Fuel supplement will be one of the items, if you are being charged.

Also a Dreams customer - which is why I'm not seeing it either.

Oh my God I love the stitch pin! Need to check if I have it! - I know its bad but I have no idea what pins I have any more! Got excited over a trade in WDW in 2008 only to find I already had 2 of the same pin!

Let me know if you want to trade, its not spoken for yet.

Nice pins off chip and dale.

Thanks :) Pirate Dale has a new home but the others are available if you want to trade.

Hi, Yes you have all the right info for me. Thanks again for organizing this. Now to make sure the candy makes it to the ship . Tru

I'm having the same trouble, I keep eating it and then having to buy more!

Good news!

Im another that thinks airline bathrooms are the worst! Although I haven't ever noticed that they are sticky... Double yuck! OK, I have never gotten socks from the airline either... What am I missing? :confused3

I think you have to be on a pretty long haul flight to get them - usually in a pack with eye mask and a toothbrush/paste. Think 12 hours or longer. Mum says the airline socks are to mop up the urine in the bathrooms and save your own socks - TMI? :rotfl:
