I wish my Dh would lurk and get to know some of the beautiful people here, he is just too busy at work and even if he did find time, he's in the building industry, there are no computers on site. He gets updates from me, but still has no idea who is who :confused3

Whoa, that is not good. A few years ago we moved into a new house, it had mould in the bathroom, I was spraying bleach up at it and didn't realise it was coming back down to my face and I was breathing it in. By that night my throat was raw and bleeding, my eyes were swollen closed and my skin was irritated. It took some days to heal.
I hope you get some rest tonight and feel better tomorrow. I think jelly might be on the menu :thumbsup2

Oh no sounds dreadful! Mine hasn't bleed that I've noticed - well didn't cough any up anyway - but is sore. My eyes were stinging last night too so probably from that! I'm sure tonight will be better! Just had some potato pie as our work basically uses mashed potato and cheese so all very easy to eat!

How does he like the new iPhone? I have a second generation iPhone and I am overdue an upgrade. So I am seriously pondering getting the iPhone 4. I don't really like the shape though and I can get all the software upgrades for my iPhone. The only thing really wanting me upgrade is that the battery life is supposed to be much better. I would not stand in line for that amount of time for an phone though.

Well, I finally buckled and ordered a PacSafe bag from Overstock yesterday. Even with the high shipping cost, it was nearly half the price from what it goes for in the UK. I got the Smoke Blue version and can't wait for it to arrive.

Corinna

Well he loves his iPhone anyway, so the new one was bound to be a success. He likes the extra things it does too. The new shape is actually quite nice, and it appears smaller than his old one. He went with O2 who he was with and has sold his old phone to one of those phone recycle companies(recommended by Martinmoneysaver) for a decent amount.

I have been browsing the Pacsafe bags. How much was the postage? Will you have to pay anything else like Customs charges etc?

Its so weird how harsh the pollen is this year!

Didn't help mind last night I had an allergic reaction! Seems like Dan used a new kitchen cleaner in the kitchen and I'm allergic to it. Unfortunately I found out because some must have gone on the mugs on the Mug Tree in the kitchen. I had a cup of tea and some pasta (the pasta was measured out in a mug off the Tree) and the next thing you know my throat has swollen up and I can't breathe! It was touch and go as to whether I would need to go to the hospital. If Dan had had his way we would have but took some anit-histimines and it started dropped down a bit. Now its just red raw and swollen on one side so did venture in to work today. Taking tomorrow off though as I barely slept last night!

That is so scary. John used to react like that to tomatoes, and anything with salicylates in which is Aspirin and some fruits. We had to work it out ourselves at the time. I was just terrified. He carried an epipen for quite some time and did go to an allergy specialist, but he couldn't cope with the harsh exclusion diet he started. We had a nurse friend who actually had worked at a private allergy specialists/hospital, and she said he shouldn't cut out tomatoes etc completely but have a tiny amount in the hope it would build up his resistance(or whatever). She said if you cut it out completely, then in later years mistakenly eat something then the allergic reaction could be much much worse. We took her advise and he is fine now. I still won't let him have Aspirin though.;) Oh, and i am not saying everyone should do this, just that it worked for John. Take care and perhaps get an epipen from the doc's!!

Hello everybody. DW (PrincessShmoo) finally got me to register. I will probably be mainly a lurker, since DW seems to be keeping me pretty well informed about the goings on around here.

:surfweb:

Watchout! We are a contagious group!! :rotfl2:

I think you have to be on a pretty long haul flight to get them - usually in a pack with eye mask and a toothbrush/paste. Think 12 hours or longer. Mum says the airline socks are to mop up the urine in the bathrooms and save your own socks - TMI? :rotfl:

I thik I like the thought of sticky floors over this...

Thanks so much for posting this link. Fabulous pics and info
I will have to set alarm clock for Sunrise that day!
Dis meet for photo shoot at 5am? :thumbsup2

Lyn

That is pretty early, but agree it would be a spectacular photo! I am up for it if anyone else is... however, I think I will let the kids sleep in on that day...

Well, It is end of financial year here tomorrow, oh the paperwork, I feel like I'm drowning! We run our own business, I do most of the paperwork, I am usually very organised but I have been Dis'ing and FE'ing too much and haven't been spending enough time working. That'll teach me!!! :surfweb:

We fly Qantas (Aussie airline), we get given a little travel pack on all international flights with socks, eye mask for sleeping, toothbrush and toothpaste, all in a little zippered pouch on a lanyard. In business class you get a toiletry bag with the above stuff plus moisturiser, lip balm, eye balm, spritzing spray and a pair of pajama's. Really nice jammies too!
We only get it on international flights, not domestic. :goodvibes

Good luck with your EOY paperwork!

I wonder what Delta does of overnight international filghts? I guess we will find out in about 78 days!!

I kept eating my Candy / Choc swap too, so.....I put them in envelopes with the Dis name and sealed them. If it says somebody elses name on it, I'd feel bad eating it. :thumbsup2
Yep, has to be a international or sleeping flight I think. Your mum is right about the socks and the bathroom floors, it's pretty gross by the end of a 13-14 hour flight!
For me it is a bag thing... If it is in a sealed bag straight from the store I am good until someone opens it - and I am not one to open unless something has gone reallyt wrong. Likewise, if it is sorted and ready to go to someone then I am good too... But, if there is a bowl of candy - say for halloween - then I am in trouble...

Note to self... bring footie socks for the family onto the plane and LEAVE THEM BEHIND!!!

Yikes - hope that you are on the mend!! Allergies can be so scary!

.....I love my dress and the quality is amazing. I checked the feedback beforehand and the neutral feedback mainly referred to the dress not being exactly like in the photo or the wrong colour....... I am absolutely in love with it. We are planning a vow renewal for next year and I will get my wedding gown from them as well.....

I'm so thrilled that you love yours! I'm still keeping this one in the running. BTW, as I was dress shopping on-line yesterday, look at what popped up in my search!

For your vow renewal, I think these dresses would be spectacular!

Well, It is end of financial year here tomorrow, oh the paperwork, I feel like I'm drowning! .....

I am sure you will look beautiful in anything you choose, your personality shines brighter than any dress I've ever seen. :goodvibes....

I'm sure the relief from finishing up the fiscal year administrative stuff will be a welcomed feeling!

 You're way too kind, Hayley, but I thank you!

LOL! I have some honest, just rather shorts as they feel more comfy. Am taking some on the cruise though so actually you are right will be wearing my Spanx!

Good girl! :rotfl:

 Oh my gosh! That's scary stuff, and I cannot believe you even hesitated going to the hospital! I really do hope that you continue to feel some relief quickly.

I am in for a 5am photo but, you know it will take some work to get Candida up:rolleyes1

I do have pancreatitis but chronic rather than acute, which is somewhat different.
I send good wishes to your BIL and hope he gets well soon.

Do you have any suggestions to offer? What I believe in speaking to him is that he has had this problem for a long time and has been ignoring symptoms.

My DD Becky has hayfever, the only thing she has noticed, which is different for her, is that it usually slightly better if she goes by the sea, but this year no change at all. She is in Magaluff on a hen weekend at the moment :).

English to American translation ALERT: I think hen wekend = all girls weekend. Correct me if I am wrong.

I am so sorry that you had such a terrible reaction. It really sounds quite frightening!! I hope you get some rest today!!

Thank to everyone who posted their prayers and well wishes to my BIL Joe and his son Will. Here is an update:

I spoke with Joe several times since he has been admitted. So far, they think he may have Acute Pancreatitis but the diagnosis has not been confirmed. They have run numerous tests and drawn lots of blood for testing. His blood sugar when he first was seen in ER was 450 but now is down with insulin to 230. He does not know how long he will be in the hospital.

What is sad that on top of the almost $1,000 a month he pays for Kaiser, he tells me he has to pay $200 a day as a copay for hospitalization. Doesn't seem quite right to me, but he pays for his own insurance. Sure makes me glad for employer based insurance. DH is old enough for Medicare plus supplement but not me!! Lucky, as long as he works, we both will have full coverage on the excellent insurance plan his company provides.

Will is back home now. My sister Cheryl picked him up. She and her family were on their way back from Big Sur to Mt. Shasta. Though it was about a hundred plus mile detour, they were able to bring him home.

Will is concerned about his dad but acting like he is very mature young man. He has been through so much in his young life that I pray his Dad will recover speedily. I see more of his Mother in him every day. I think he will do well in life.

Just my thoughts....

OMG, take good care of yourself and let Dan baby you a bit.

We got our travel info from Disney. Normally they send it out 60 days before your cruise. However, I was not happy to find out I had to call the airline to make arrangements for my scooter. I hate calling because you always get put on hold forever. Disney books the flights and gets the seat numbers. They do nothing for special needs. Which I think is not right.

So I believe to make me less annoyed they gave me info early. So that I can make sure I get closer to the front of the plane. Less walking for bathroom. Not happy about this. But nothing I can do. A little nervous about how close the connecting flights are.

So my hubby and I are flying with Air Canada. Leaving Toronto at 3:00pm arriving in Montreal at 4:10 and then getting a connecting flight at 6:10 arriving in Barcelona at 7:25 Am. Can we say ouch. Who wants to sleep at 6:00pm at night. But if we want to function we need to get some. So I think I will stay up extra late the night before to make sure by 6:00 I am toasted lol.

Anyone travel through Montreal and know how fast they get you through customs.

As for my hubby he is great with people once he meets them. Great sense of humour. Though he hates message boards, facebook and chatting on line. He would make the perfect hermit lol. He is a great guy. I am his Belle and he is my beast :) ( though he is not hideously ugly :lmao: )

LOL - see I am not the only one that feels that nothing in unmentionable...

Im another that thinks airline bathrooms are the worst! Although I haven't ever noticed that they are sticky... Double yuck! OK, I have never gotten socks from the airline either... What am I missing? :confused3

I am seriously thiking about a notebook that I can have people write their countries slang in

Have to share - this is Stephen all packed up and ready for Teen Expedition at our outdoor YMCA. It is a great program - but this is the first time he has been away from home (and not with family) for a week... My baby is growing up... :sad2: Can you tell I miss him already??

Hope he has fun, he really looks like his Dad.
I skimmed.....

Anyway.. Lynne what was wrong with your leg for 3 weeks???

Kimmy, I love playing hand and foot...:cool2:

Hoagie Pie, I got a cover for my iPhone and no more dropped calls. YAY!!! My DD and I are delighted. The only covers left were ugly as all get out, but seem to work, so no worries...:goodvibes

Stephen, good news on your healing. Hope it doesn't really take 8 weeks.:goodvibes

The insurance company denied my MRI so I have to go to a specialist. I should have done that in the first place. My bad. I see him on Wednesday...:rolleyes1

See this is why people abuse the ER. Any tests the ER wants to do are automatically covered.
Stupid leg, achillies tendo...ongoing...
As promised, I went to a bridal salon to day to check out some formals because I really really have an itch to get a new gown! princess: I found one that I thought was pretty and looked good on me, even though my flabby arms would be exposed! It didn't have as much bling as I wanted though. I thought about many of you as I was staring at the mirror, and I might have to agree that the arms are less noticeable with a good looking dress on. Anyways, it was slightly above my budget, so I had her write the style down for me in case I decide to go back. I'm still not sure about the princess ball gown I have my eyes on on eBay. It's SO stunning, but I'm still not sure it would be a better look on me than the one I tried on today. My mom and grandmother will give me an honest opinion, so since I'll see them later this week, I'm holding off. Thankfully I/we still have a little time to procrastinate!

Speaking of going up north to see DM and DGM....

Since it's officially Tuesday, I can say that tomorrow I have my mini DIS Meets with Kimberly aka Kimmy!!! :woohoo: I'm really looking forward to it!

Sadly, I'm finding myself skimming more and more. I hope I haven't missed anything too significant!

Excellent! I've also tucked these details away with my growing facts sheet!

I have to share this with the group, Amy. A couple of us from our DIS Meets were (not literally) placing bets between one another that Dave would propose to Amy while they were at WDW MONTHS before September ever came around. In fact, we thought that maybe it would happen earlier in the year when Amy and her family went to WDW, so we were on the edge of our keyboards waiting to hear if it happened. No news meant it didn't. So for certain, we just KNEW it was going to happen right before the cruise or even ON the cruise. :goodvibes

Well I was at WDW for the week prior the cruise with no internet access, so I knew I wouldn't find out until we got to Port Canaveral. The night before the cruise, several families all got together for dinner at Grills. I found out then about Amy and Dave's exciting news!!! I just couldn't wait to see them!

So on Saturday morning, as you all know, you're just so anxious to meet everyone in person!! One of our DISers, Denise, who had many exchanges of PMs with me about our bets, sees me for the first time and comes running to me in the terminal saying "THEY DID IT!! THEY DID IT, AND I BROUGHT A COPY OF OUR PMs TO SHOW HERE WE HAD BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR MONTHS!!!" :rotfl2:

OMG! Amy and Dave were our own celebrities!! :rotfl: Everyone was so thrilled for them!! So I'm walking around the port looking for her, and when I see her, she throws her arms out for a big hug and says "KIMBERLYYYYYY!!! I'm so happy to see you!" Although the hug was great, I just wanted to see the RING! :rotfl: :goodvibes

Sending prayers your DBIL's way. Can I also just say that the maturity of this 16 year old nephew is amazing? He's wishing you the best of summers after he just got his dad into an ambulance. God love him!

What?!!! Now I know you didn't miss the Spanx chats! :rotfl2: Go get your Spanx at QVC

Ummmm. Yeah. That last sentence is not at all what I would expect from a CM.

Funny!

Oh Steffi! You just know how to make me smile! I'm so impressed that you are so fluent with English and that you keep teaching us! Chipmunks, squirrels....you knew Chip 'N Dale were some little critter! Kuddos to you for even attempting to translate!

I got mine on Saturday as well!

Well at least you are going in the right direction! I hope the meds will relieve some of this pain. So sorry it's taking this long!

Oh thank you so much for forwarding, and Eusébia, if you are still lurking, THANK YOU for sharing!! This indeed gets me very excited to go and experience another culture!

Awe! It will be alright, mom! He is indeed a handsome guy and looks pretty happy to go on his adventure! Keep us posted if you hear any news from him about their trip!

Oh geesh. *sigh* Well thankfully you'll see the specialist really soon and not have to wait any longer.

I *so* agree with you on the abuse of ERs. It's abused on so many levels. :sad2:

Hey there!!! Glad you've chimed in!
Sounds lovely, cant wait to see it.

What a worry
I am so excited,,, my nephew is going to New Zealand for the Pan Pacific Tournament. He plays water polo in high school and apparently is pretty good.

They will be staying in Aukland and will be staying at the Sacred Heart College.
thats cool
Don't worry Dan is meant to be popping home at lunch time to decontaiminate the kitchen for me! Have to throw out the pasta I made for the week too so not amused!

Keep well sarah, take care of yourself.

I'm sorry to hear about the continued health concerns, allergies and family members who are healing. Health is so precious, huh? Thinking of your
Sarah, Stephen, Noel and others.

Well, I made a bold move today: I'm booked for Lasik next week! I'm planning on not carrying my glasses, contacts and solution with me on our cruise. I guess it is the ultimate pre-cruise shopping! Think of me next Friday and wish me good success and not too many nerves - I'd really appreciate all those good vibes. Contacts have been the bane of my existence, and night driving has gotten particularly bad with my astigmatism, I hate glasses. So here I am going to get lasered! The doc and I have privileges at the same hospital, and he comes recommended by my chief, so I am confident in that part at least.

Good luck and let us know how everything works out. I've worn glasses since I was about 8 years old and have often thought of doing this. But then I'm not sure how it would work on these old eyes. My neice had her eyes done about 16 years ago and just recently had them re-done (that old age thing creeping in). She loves not having to deal with contacts, glasses, etc.

Maybe if I wasn't such a baby..:rolleyes1

I have often thought of doing Lasik but because I have such light blue eyes, I end up wearing sunglasses during the day. Let me know how it goes.

My prescription is:
OD Sphere -4.75 Dist 31.5 ADD +2.25
OS -4.25 CYL 1.75 Axis 180 Dist 32.5 ADD +2.25

Anywhere near your prescription?

We got our travel info from Disney....I was not happy to find out I had to call the airline to make arrangements for my scooter...
...Who wants to sleep at 6:00pm at night...Anyone travel through Montreal and know how fast they get you through customs.

As for my hubby he is great with people once he meets them....

Sorry about your disappointments handed to you. Although the connecting flights are close, the good news is that since you ARE going to have arrangements made with the airlines, they'll know once you've landed and if you're on your way, thus not closing the door on you. Fingers crossed that you leave Toronto on time! Since you are traveling within Canada, I don't think you'll have anything to worry about in terms of Customs in Montreal. Once you arrive in Barcelona, then you'll go through Customs, so hopefully that relieves some of your worries.

I think most trans-Atlantic flights we're all taking are red-eyes, thus taking off about the same time as yours. You have the same plan I do, which is to start adjusting to the time zone difference days before I leave.

I'm sure your DH will fit right in with all of us just fine! He's luck to have you to keep in informed!

....Well, I made a bold move today: I'm booked for Lasik next week! .....

I'm so jealous, and you're so brave! I can't wait to hear about your excitement of waking up in the morning with no squints and enjoying the pool with full sight! Congrats!

I think they were referring to the cruise line. They weren't very helpful for being the people in the know!

They sure were not very helpful. I am going to try to email them myself. Maybe I will get another answer. Who knows?

Better news that your BIL's blood are settling. I hope they get him stablised soon - it can be a few days before they allow him home, depending on whether the diagnosis is acute pancreatitis, and the severity of the illness. They have to watch him closely for a few days too and make sure the pain is under control.

What a nightmare about the health and hospital costs. It is an added worry too.:sad2:

It must have been a big worry for Will, but it seems he has a strong spirit!!:thumbsup2

Thank you for your very kind words and advice. Will seems to be holding up well. I will keep you posted. If you have any advice or questions he should ask, please let me know.

Good morning everyone :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 WE ARE NOW IN THE 70s .....wooooooo hooooooo

Unfortunately I am struggling to keep up with everything at the moment ... mainly because with this splint on my hand I really struggle to type. I am reading everything and when I can't use the laptop ( we only have one working computer in house at the moment, so if any of kids are about ... forget it ) I read posts on Ipod touch. So apologies for not responding to posts as often as I used to .... it is very frustrating.

To keep me occupied during this period of enforced resting of the right hand I have been to the library and got hold of some travel books. Hopefully that will keep me happy. My main gripe is that I can't get on with FE gifts :sad2:

Sorry to hear you are still experiencing pain .... it is so frustrating isn't it. Hope you are fully recovered by the cruise.

I booked with DU and can't access this either. I contacted DU about the fuel supplement and they said I hadn't been charged one in the first place. I don't know if this is correct, as I booked in November 2008, but I can't check up so will have to take their word for it.

Sending :hug::hug: and lots of :wizard::wizard: that your BIL makes a full recovery. It must be such a worrying time for you all. :sad2::sad2:

Hope your injury heals quickly!! I can imagine it is frustrating to be somewhat sidelined.

I have the same issue with my TA and the fuel supplement. Hope that gets resolved as well. Not much I can do except book directly with DCL next time and not transfer to TA.

DD and her BF are moving in today for a few months so things are a bit hectic around here. Samantha is interviewing for a job in San Diego today (second phone interview).

She and BF want to move to San Diego as she wants to go to Law School in Southern California. It didn't seem sensible to rent another condo so they are coming here.

If I miss any messages that are important, please PM me.
