Going to the doctor's soon to see if he can help with the continuing pain after having had my gallbladder out. I have given it 5 weeks, but the pain is almost the same as it was before, and indeed since the pancreatitis in December. In other ways I feel so much better, but I want to get on top of the pain. As is usual in these things(sod's law they call it), the last 2 days have been the best I have had, which is good of course, but :headache: when it comes to going to the doc's!!!:lmao: I have had good days before only for the pain to come back again, so I am going to go anyway.:confused3 We have to make non urgent appointments so far in advance for the doc you want.

Hopefully it won't interfere with all my planning and the cruise, though it does mess up the insurance side of things.

I am so sorry you are having so much pain. I know you were hopeful that once you had your gall bladder surgery that the pain would disappear. I sure hope they find a simple solution for you.

One of the things that I have noticed since I had my gall bladder removed is that I can no longer eat certain foods. I can not eat beef, especially steak without having tremendous stomach pain and loose stools. There are several other foods that I eat that give me the same reaction.

Just my thoughts...

Welcome back!! So so sorry to hear about your DH's health issues. pixiedust: to you and your DH. As you said, lots of new studies going on. DH's Dad and his Uncle both had Parkinson's. Hopefully, DH can get into some sort of clinical trial and the meds would be lots less.

Dh went to the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center, I hear it's the best in the country. So there may be some trials he can get into.
And thanks for the good wishes and pixie dust!

Good morning everyone ... only 9 pages overnight .... I call that slacking !!!!

Last evening we attended our DS's "Record of Achievement" Ceremony .... it is a sort of high school graduation over here, where they go up on stage and receive a record of achievement. They all dress up to the nines and look very sophisticated and mature. Anyway, it was a very emotional evening, my youngest leaving school etc. but it was lovely seeing him all scrubbed up.:thumbsup2

Am I the only one who's just a little disturbed at the placement of the acorns in this picture?

If no one else is going to say it, I will! Are Chip & Dale stumbling with their nuts? ...and green? Glad they're not blue. That would be sad.

(Okay...Hope that didn't offend anyone.)

Well, at least its acorns they have

You guys are so funny :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

....the lanyards ARRIVED at my house on Tuesday! :cool1:

I'm pretty happy with them----the colors that the lanyard team all voted on anonymously turned out really great (and, actually, I should say I haven't even told the LANYARD TEAM members what the lanyards look like yet....gotta keep some surprises!! ). Also I decided on this trip, after some suggestions from team members and other cruisers to go with a slightly wider lanyard than I've usually ordered for cruises in the past. They're still pretty soft and comfortable but they're now wide enough for pin people to put their pins on! :thumbsup2

We love pins as well! It will be great to be able to put them on the lanyards! Thanks, Erik!

[/COLOR]

I'm glad to see several of you are already happy with the decision to go with a wider and more pin-friendly lanyard. In the past I've always gotten the really thin one that is basically the size of a shoe-lace and just big enough for the lettering but a number of folks said they liked it better if they could put pins and decoration on their lanyard so I went with the 1/2 inch version this time....and, like I said, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. (And I actually think it makes the lettering a little bigger/more visible, too)

How exciting .... I think wider lanyards will be great. I enjoy pin collecting although I haven't done it on a cruise as yet.
I can't wait to see these lanyards.:woohoo::woohoo:

Well, I've been lurking here for a few days trying to get caught up on what is going on and I've decided that's impossible, so I'm just going to jump in and try to figure out what you have been up to in the last million posts!

This will be our sixth cruise, so our first gold cruise:cool1:.
I'm (Andrea) traveling with DH (Michael), DS12 (Zachary) and DS10 (Adam). We are in room 5012.

Hi Andrea and Michael and family. :Welcome: aboard. We are Sarah and Tony from Wales, cruising for the 2nd time on DCL.

:rotfl2: no offense here...
It's just that Chip and Dale are Nut smuggling...

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

This weekend i'm off to Paris(disneyland). Hopefully i don't have to take a day off to read all the messages on this board.

Connie

I'm off to Disneyland Paris in a couple of weeks time for 4 days .... maybe i should just admit defeat now,

SW

You guys are so lucky ... we usually visit Disneyland Paris in July ( or Halloween ) but this year won't be able to make it. Hope you both have a wonderful time. :woohoo::woohoo:

I know, I am going to Pitlochry next week for a week.

Have a lovely time in Pitlochry :woohoo: We will miss you  Is Len going too ?

Anyone seen the great new links at the bottom left of the post box, you can FB, tweet or e-mail a post to those who are away!

I send important posts to myself all the time and then copy and paste into my cruise journal.

Pj

Didn't know you could do this.

I think we're still outside of the cancellation date for non-suites. We were able to rebook our cruises today with no issues or problems.

I am so excited today! Thanks to someone's heads up on here I found out that they'd opened up military discount rates yesterday (I'd been checking daily for a month or more but hadn't yet checked yesterday until I saw it mentioned.) $999/$799/$599 per adult for Cat 6/Cat 9/Cat 11 respectively, and $399 per child. My fabulous FIL (retired Navy) who will be on the ship with us, rebooked at these rates, giving up his assigned Cat 5 cabin for a Cat 6 GTY, and rebooked our room as well, saving us over $900 and we upgraded from Cat 10 GTY to Cat 6 GTY in the process! And we didn't lose any of our Palo or other ressies (though we did both lose the rebooking benefits and DCL OBC.) Yea!! More money for tastings, pictures, drinks, excursions and SPA treatments!!!

What a fantastic rate. :woohoo:

Ok... so Ive been missing for awhile. Life goes on and on, and things change in a hurry. Dh and I spent a few days in Phoenix. Had some great dinners. (Ok.. we dont have big name eateries here, 1 Chile's.)
Dh spent time at the Muhammad Ali Center, where he was diagnosed with Parkinson's.:sad2: Wow, can life change in a blink of an eye.
Changes are being made and meds are added and more Dr's appointment.
Hardest part is Phoenix is a 4 hr drive! One way! If I wanted to drive 4 hrs... I would go west and be at Disneyland!!! Oh , thats right, I have to wait till November for that!
So anyway...meds are very costly and if one doesnt work, try another costly one! There is lots of hope and new studies are going on all the time.
If life gives you lemons... just make some lemon jello shots and have a party!:rotfl: Life is still good!

Annie:flower3:

Sending you both :hug::hug: An unexpected medical diagnosis like this must be such a shock, but your attitude is inspiring. Life can certainly throw up trials and tribulations and it's how you deal with them that helps you get through. Hope you have many lemon jello shot parties ahead

Cool, I'm going to learn a few new languages on this trip!! :lmao:

Just think of all the cool international slang we can all take home with us ;)

I'm sure they are fabulous! I'm a pin trader too so its nice to know I will have something to put them on.

If no one else is going to say it, I will! Are Chip & Dale stumbling with their nuts? ...and green? Glad they're not blue. That would be sad.

(Okay...Hope that didn't offend anyone.)

:rotfl: definitely no offense here

Ok I now have the idea that there are going to be many of us vertically challenged, more 'rounded' curvy ladies on board.......:thumbsup2......we'll be like a liitle clan of our own!:rotfl::thumbsup2

Lets face it, aren't 95% of us shorted and fatter than we'd like to be? ;)

In the military, undies are called skivvies. Hubby is not sure how they came up with that word????

We call these skivvies - didn't realise it could be misinterpreted! Just shows you can't be too careful :rotfl2:

Have fun there, I have only been there once and that was 15 years ago !!.

Oh you chatty people!:lmao:

think I gave up and started reading every other page! And that still took me all day:laughing:

Welcome all newbie!:cool1: This board is special. If you cant sleep ... you always have someone to talk to and about anything... including underware!
Chip and Dale!!! Oh my... I had tears rolling down my face:lmao:

M4travels: Glendora! DH and I grew up a few miles away in La Puente. But we moved away more then 30 years ago. Im still a California girl at heart.

Su: hope you get well quickly, nothing is more irratating then dental problems.
A big MAHALO to you for all the work you have done on the t-shirts.

Erik: Another big MAHALO to you and Jason for all the work you are and have done on the lanyards!:worship:

Am I the only one who's just a little disturbed at the placement of the acorns in this picture?
:rotfl2:

Thanks for the heads up----Jason is away in NC this week for work and won't be back until Friday night. When he gets home I'll ask him what he wants to do. Maybe we'll go online and see if there are times we like and then decide if we'd rather scuba or dolphin.

Also----I'm so...."SAD" that I missed spanx talk! Although I have seen remnants of it in the form of speedo talk and images of underpants

You may even have time to scuba and do the dolphin encounter :confused3 They both sound like great activities.
Don't worry, we'll save some Spanx talk for on the ship for you. :thumbsup2

The thought of many "tried" Spanx being returned is a little disturbing, but having a stretched pair would be nice!

If no one else is going to say it, I will! Are Chip & Dale stumbling with their nuts? ...and green? Glad they're not blue. That would be sad.

(Okay...Hope that didn't offend anyone.)

Eeewwwww!
It takes a lot more than a couple of nut chasers to offend me!

....the lanyards ARRIVED at my house on Tuesday!

Oooh, My first lanyard! It's very exciting, they sound very cool. Gay guys taste is always impeccable (not stereotyping at all, lol, GWOK's!), So I'm sure they are FANTASTIC!

We bought it years ago - I want to say probably Cruise 4 in '05 on the cruise. I haven't seen them since, but I will be more than happy to show you. If you are going on the Dream, they might sell them then. I knew I had to have it when I saw it. It was because of Capt. Tom that we went on the TA in '07. We were on the Mother's Day cruise in '06 and my husband was talking to Capt. Tom about having cruises with more sea days, he said that we should definitely go on the '07 and my husband booked that day! I wish he listened to me like he does Capt. Tom!!!

I'm going to have a talk to our WBTA captain, and get him to recommend a Dream Cruise to my husband........Can't hurt trying? :cool1:

Speaking of RV, we leave today for a week in Oregon. It has been WAY too long since we have taken it out on the road. So, I will likely be hundreds of pages behind next weekend, maybe even threads behind the way we are going. I don't think I will get online while we are gone.

Have a fantastic time, What a fabulous life you lead, Oh I can't wait to retire, OK, so I don't work now, but DH does, So I can't wait for him to retire :rotfl:

We got a cabin #! We'll be in 7126.

YAY, Room assignments have started, or have they :confused3

Maybe we can make pins special for this cruise?

Connie

Great idea? Anyone know where to start?

This will be our sixth cruise, so our first gold cruise.
I'm (Andrea) traveling with DH (Michael), DS12 (Zachary) and DS10 (Adam). We are in room 5012. We are taking DCL air, so don't know our flight plans yet. Unfortunately, DH can't take any more days off work than he already is, so we plan on being a bit tired on 9/18 after what I'm sure will be a long day/night of travel. I think the excitement will help us out, though.
:welcome:

I'll be one of the few men with you doing laundry...
You will get to check out all the ladies Spanx! :rotfl2:

Jason and I will be doing laundry, too----and we're technically men (those of you who remember the tigger and tinker bell conversation of a couple weeks ago should get a chuckle out of that! . We'll probably be playing games in the laundry room (or nearby) while we wait for our loads to get done!

And we can check out your girlie knickers, I'm sure Tinkerbell has green frilly ones, :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I am also height challenged and now the shortest family member. But my DGD (age 12) now calls me "fun size".

I love it, Fun Size :lmao:

He actually blamed it on people getting off at every port, and not making it back until right at dinner seatings. So, no one at the pool = less tips. From what he said on facebook, he misses the magic. I wonder if he will move to the dream next contract... If you do see him, he is AWESOME!!!

That makes sense, I bet you'd get great service on port days at the pool though :thumbsup2

This weekend i'm off to Paris(disneyland). Hopefully i don't have to take a day off to read all the messages on this board.

Connie
Have a great day! :woohoo:

Oh now what I would say is we got stopped for playing cards for Gold Fish Crackers on DCL once so you may get people stopping you if they think you are betting but it sounds like a cool idea. Wish I knew how to play poker.

My DD Bella loves original goldfish, we can't get them here, Can she play? :lmao:

I'm off to Disneyland Paris in a couple of weeks time for 4 days .... maybe i should just admit defeat now,

after taking 4 days away i'll miss about 50 pages and countless underwear themed conversation.

SW

Have fun, We'll save the push up / booster bra conversation for you. :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Anyone seen the great new links at the bottom left of the post box, you can FB, tweet or e-mail a post to those who are away!

I send important posts to myself all the time and then copy and paste into my cruise journal.

Pj

Didn't know you could do that, Thanks :thumbsup2

Very Well done. I think these will be a great building block for school projects.
Pj
Very cool - I will see if I can find some far oiut facts and make some pages as well!

My DD's will only be 8 and 9 at the time we travel, So obviously you'll want something more in depth for older kids. My kids are allowed the time off school as long as they keep a journal, I also have one for our time in WDW that I got from another Dis'er and customised to suit us. ;)

That is fantastic, Good onya :thumbsup2

$2,136.60 is the total cost for 2 adults at the Military rates including taxes, but excluding insurance or transfers. ($999/adult for Cat 6 plus taxes.) The non-discounted cost for a Cat 6 on the DCL site tonight is $5,056.60, so that's a savings of $2,920 or a 58% discount!

WOW, Great saving, Hopefully there are more of you who can take advantage of this offer.

Ok... so Ive been missing for awhile. Life goes on and on, and things change in a hurry. Dh and I spent a few days in Phoenix. Had some great dinners. (Ok.. we dont have big name eateries here, 1 Chile's.)

As much I really do feel your pain right now, Thank-you for this post. Let me explain......I have 6 gallbladder tumours and am having some troubles with them and gallbladder sludge at the moment. I had a bad attack last week and the doctor wants me to have it taken out. I haven't had any major problems for 6 months, but I was eating bad. :sad2: Anyway, I chose NOT to have it taken out right now, as If I eat well and look after myself (I see a naturopath) I am mostly pain free. I have read so much about people having just as much pain, loose bowel movements and nausea after the surgery, So why would I undergo surgery if nothing is going to change? I don't have stones so there minimal chances of the tumours dislodging, Otherwise I would probably have it taken out.
I truly hope you get some relief soon, My naturopath put me onto a website that has some great info, Especially about Diet, There are definitely foods that set me off (coffee, more than 3 alcoholic drinks, excessive dairy, nuts!), It may be worth looking at. If you think the surgery is worth it, please give me you opinion, TIA.

Thanks Noel. The GP believes it to be ongoing pain from the Acute Pancreatitis attack I had in December. It can take a long time to subside apparently. He was really lovely. Told me to up my stronger tablets for now and see how it goes. I asked about bile duct problems but he believes the pain i am describing is more pancreatic in origin, though he doesn't believe I have Chronic Pancreatitis as the pain is not all the time. good result i think.
I do have bowel problems since the operation, though it seems to be improving. I don't eat a long of red meat and am still on a low fat diet. I'm thinking I would have more problems if I added those into my diet!!!

Lets face it, aren't 95% of us shorted and fatter than we'd like to be? ;)

We all just need stretching, then we would be ok!!!!!:rotfl2:

Good wishes from me today. I hope that they do something about the pain you are having.

Thanks Jan, thanks for the wishes. More painkillers for now as I posted above.

Thank you for posting. I really didn't have al the normal gallbladder problems, rather a nasty acute pancreatitis attack possibly caused by gallstones. That is why they took it out to prevent having another pancreatitis attack as they can be fatal.
However, I had read of Post cholecystectomy Syndrome and wondered if this was that. My GP thinks not if you read my posts above. I can't say whether in general it is better to have it removed. I rather think i still would if I was having so many attacks, but only you can decide that and what other treatment you could try. It is sometimes worth giving alternative treatment a go anyway.
What I would say is that gallbladder sludge is a major cause of Acute Pancreatitis, and you really wouldn't want that, honestly. I had what is called a 'mild' case - 9 days in hospital, very poorly, on morphine, drip, oxygen, catheter etc. and very careful monitoring for deterioration. 'Severe' can be weeks or even many months in hospital, in ITU and High Dependency, and is often fatal. Sometimes it can lead to Chronic Pancreatitis, and you really, really would not want to go anywhere near that.:sad2:

OK, now let's get back to the fun!!!!!!;)

Pancreatitis is a far worse condition than I have, and I can understand why you would take out the gallbladder to possibly save your life. Your time in hospital sounds horrible. Very scary!
I have only had 3 major attacks in the past 2 years, I do have mild pain, and some nausea if I eat bad, but generally I am fighting fit and healthy. :) I think I will continue with my naturopath until I have no other option. We are going to try and get rid of the sludge naturally, It isn't very bad.....apparently :confused3
I hope you get some relief soon, and upping your meds helps.
Thanks for being so open with me, I like to hear other stories, It is helpful for me to make a decision about what to do. :flower3:

I hope that you too manage to steer clear of another gallbladder attack. It is pretty horrid I know. Try with the low fat diet too. all the best. I don't blame you for going down that route!!!

I'm pleased you managed to get your problem diagnosed Marilyn and I hope the meds work. :wizard:

I have been to the fracture clinic and have basically been told to behave myself and rest my right hand for the next 2 weeks at least. Otherwise it will become a chronic condition. :scared1::scared1: and since a working right hand is essential in my midwifery practice then thats not a good thing to have a chronic condition with .... so back to slow left-handed typing and not much else :sad2: I can't even get on with FE gifts as they need 2 hands :sad2:

Any suggestions as to what I can do to pass the time for the next 2 weeks?

Oh, I'm sorry about that, but do take their advice!! Of course there is the tennis and football, but that wouldn't do it for me. Or you could shop online, not much typing there;)!!! Hopefully the weather will stay nice and you can sit out or get out and about. Go get a nice coffee and sit outside and people watch.

watching sport doesn't do it for me either ... may go to the cinema again.
Shopping on line ... definitely an option :thumbsup2 I plan to do lots of walking too.

I like the shopping online idea! :thumbsup2
You could get into the whole Farmville thing? :confused3
Maybe you could learn to paint with your feet.....sounds more fun than Farmville.........better duck for cover, I know there are lots of farmers here :rotfl:
Other than that, you can eat :yay::yay::yay:

Sorry to go of subject for a moment I know there is a whole board dedicated to Disneyland Paris, but well this cruise starts in europe ... and Paris is in europe.... OK tenuious link, Just humour me :)

Yes the train is the way to go, a little over 2 hours from leaving London you’re pulling into the Disney Resort, or the centre of Paris. I know a few people are put off by the thought of the tunnel but it really is a breeze. You are only in it for 22 minutes or so, on the way back I normally sleep through it.

Paris is beautiful, for all you DISers who have grown up with a romanticised view of the city, due to TV and Films, I can confirm it really IS like that. It’s full of amazing little discoveries hidden courtyards, squares with wonderful fountains and quaint back streets with little cafes and bars.

The Disneyland Paris Resort is a gem too. The Disneyland Park is the most beautiful Magic Kingdom of them all, the attention to details and theming is just unreal, and, due to the benefit of more than 30 years experience and a huge budget, their versions of the classic Disney rides like Big Thunder Mountain, and Pirates are the best.

The neighbouring Walt Disney Studios park was built on a more “modest” scale and budget, and suffers from a lack of size, questionable layout, and depth of theming but it still has a few wonderful attractions and is a worthy, and more relaxing, day.

The resort is perfect for a short break with 3 or 4 nights you can comfortably see the best of Disney and maybe even a day in the city. The 6 themed Disney hotels are all located a short walk from the 2 theme parks which themselves are just a few hundred yards apart. meaning you can walk everywhere.

If you are on a tighter budget several good neighbour hotels offer more affordable lodging and are still very close to the parks making commuting easy.

It certainly is a different experience than the American Parks, but one that offers Europeans the chance to experience a flavour of Disney without the investment of time and money required to visit Walt Disney World or Disneyland.

Thank you very much, that was a great review! I'll make sure dh sees this!:thumbsup2

Ok... so Ive been missing for awhile.
One way!:headache: If I wanted to drive 4 hrs... I would go west and be at Disneyland!!!:cool1: Oh , thats right, I have to wait till November for that!
So anyway...meds are very costly and if one doesnt work, try another costly one! There is lots of hope and new studies are going on all the time.
If life gives you lemons... just make some lemon jello shots and have a party! Life is still good!

Annie:flower3:

Many good wishes to you and your dh Annie  As others have said, I'm sure your positive spirit will help you get through :flower3:

CURVALICIOUS! Not well-rounded - although we are - CURVALICIOUS has a more "-ICIOUS" sound to it. :rotfl:

Technically 5'4" is considered Petite....um...vertically challenged, so based on that technicality - I qualify for the Petite Curvalicious Club! :yay:

Love it! Curvalicious is my new favourite word!:worship::cool1:

Hopefully it won't interfere with all my planning and the cruise, though it does mess up the insurance side of things.

sorry to hear this Marilyn  hope things are better soon and you're back to your cheery, planning self!:flower3:

Good morning everyone ... only 9 pages overnight .... I call that slacking !!!!

Last evening we attended our DS's "Record of Achievement" Ceremony .... it is a sort of high school graduation over here, where they go up on stage and receive a record of achievement. They all dress up to the nines and look very sophisticated and mature. Anyway, it was a very emotional evening, my youngest leaving school etc. but it was lovely seeing him all scrubbed up.

Aw, I bet he looked great and you must have been so proud! :)

I just wanted to spread a little pixiedust: for everyone experiencing a medical problem. We need everyone well for our cruise!

I have already made a few journal pages for my kids, there are a couple about the ship and a fact page on each port. I am happy to share. I will add the link to my 4shared account, It is a small file and should only take less than 30 secs to download. :thumbsup2
http://www.4shared.com/file/5A_r4AE...use a pc, and nothing wants to open the file.
