That is sad and most probably very true. The Brits aren't known for their good tipping even when within the 'rules' and the rest of Europe have different tipping 'rules' too. Some countries probably don't even tip. We always go with the guidelines for the country we are in, even though sometimes it seems very wrong, but not everyone from here does.:sad2:

I will look out for him on our PC cruise in January.

He actually blamed it on people getting off at every port, and not making it back until right at dinner seatings. So, no one at the pool = less tips. From what he said on facebook, he misses the magic. I wonder if he will move to the dream next contract... If you do see him, he is AWESOME!!!

Ah of course. The Med and Baltic cruises are both very port intensive, so that is a fair point.

We love pins as well! It will be great to be able to put them on the lanyards! Thanks, Erik!

Our ships clock is in the bedroom of our RV because it reminds us of our stateroom on the ship. :cloud9: Same color wood and that cozy feeling. :goodvibes

Speaking of RV, we leave today for a week in Oregon. It has been WAY too long since we have taken it out on the road. So, I will likely be hundreds of pages behind next weekend, maybe even threads behind the way we are going. I don't think I will get online while we are gone. :scared1::surfweb:Withdrawal!!!!

PJ, Marilyn, Noel!!! Please PM anything important that I might need to see to me. TIA!!! Things like payments, etc.
Have a great and safe trip:)
Well, I've been lurking here for a few days trying to get caught up on what is going on and I've decided that's impossible, so I'm just going to jump in and try to figure out what you have been up to in the last million posts!

This will be our sixth cruise, so our first gold cruise:cool1:.
I'm (Andrea) traveling with DH (Michael), DS12 (Zachary) and DS10 (Adam). We are in room 5012. We are taking DCL air, so don't know our flight plans yet. Unfortunately, DH can't take any more days off work than he already is, so we plan on being a bit tired on 9/18 after what I'm sure will be a long day/night of travel. I think the excitement will help us out, though.

Right now, our cruise plans are

Gibraltar--City Under Seige 9AM
Madeira--Catamaran Whale and Dolphin Watching 9:45AM
St. Maarten--nothing. beach??
Tortola--Tour to Virgin Gorda 8:30 AM
Castaway--beach time

Not sure about Madeira. DH and I couldn't find any DCL tours we were really happy with and are still not sure about what we did pick. I've been trying to figure out whether to join your tour but not sure how kid friendly it is and it sounds like a really long day. We'd like something a little shorter.

Welcome Andrea and family, were Lynne and Leonard from scotland and its fair to say were pretty excited about this cruise:dance3::dance3:

This weekend i'm off to Paris(disneyland). Hopefully i don't have to take a day off to read all the messages on this board.

Connie

Lucky Lady!! Have a wonderful time in Paris Disneyland.

We are sure a chatty bunch! I expect we will be up about 10-15 pages by then or more.....

Just my thoughts.....
:surfweb:

Lunch buffet is good but the lunch DESSERT buffet is better :rotfl:

Not sure if Australian's call them the same as they are called here - "gruds" or "grundies" - both terms make me cringe.

In the military, undies are called skivvies. Hubby is not sure how they came up with that word????

Beachwood is a nice area (if I can't be home in Decatur, GA, that is). But what does it say about me that I have bartenders at most of the local restaurants that know me by name (& drink)?? :rotfl:

5'2" ?? Wow, that's kind of tall for women in my family! :rotfl2:

OMG!! Almost forgot about that - hysterical!! (and slightly disturbing, too...)

No!! Once was enough!! :rotfl2:

LOVE the German beer, but IMHO Budweiser is a cheap beer. I'm a self-described beer snob and pretty much stick to the micro-brews. :snooty:

Am I the only one who's just a little disturbed at the placement of the acorns in this picture? :confused3:rotfl2::lmao:

Cool, I'm going to learn a few new languages on this trip!! :lmao:

I have to admit I noticed it too but didn't want to be the first to say they were playing with the nuts?????:lmao::lmao:

Have fun Connie! I've never been to DLP (so close, yet I've done WDW countless times...lol) :)

Some may remember that I posted the question about DisneyStore.com gift cards and how long it takes to receive them. I am SO happy to tell you that it arrived today...that's nearly 3 weeks! Whew. I was getting worried that a $300 GC was lost or stolen. I got the card to take to use towards OBC. I wanted to purchase it with a credit card that gave me cash back. I need to do it again, too. I didn't get a higher amount the first time because of my concern that it would be lost. I have to admit I love the selection of graphics to choose from for the card.

This weekend i'm off to Paris(disneyland)....

Connie, that sounds like a wonderful way to spend the weekend!! ENJOY!

I dunno I have a manic day in work and it all goes nuts!

That sounds like an excellent plan. You will be surprised how fast your body adapts to the exercise and then it will be easy. Maybe one day the steep incline won't trigger using your inhaler (I use one too! I've had asthma since I was a wee one but it is very, very mild now). Yay for you!

Amen sistah!

Thanks for the encouragement! I was only diagnosed with Asthma a few years back after an extremely bad chest infection due to damp in the flat I was living in. I've always had mild symtoms but only official then. Now I'm managing to control it really well - just wish I didn't have to use a spacer to use my inhalers as my mum keeps claiming it looks like something you'd use to express milk

Somebody was asking earlier about access to sites with a wheelchair or walker. I just found the following info for Gibraltar:

Easy Access Facilities for Disabled Persons in Gibraltar

Wanted to add, For anyone with Visual Impairments, St Michaels Cave is very dark in places and so a torch is a MUST! I forgot mine last time I regretted it

72 !! that does sound scary but I lost 112 lbs, and have kept it off for 4 years(well except this poxy 10 lbs) I think you have to do it bit by bit.
When I look at old photos I seriously dont recognize myself.

Thanks for the encouragement Lynne!

Broke sweat today myself. We had an employee appreciation lunch at work today. They had it catered with ymmuy barbecue, then had a basketball free throw contest (didn't participate), water balloon toss (made it to the last round and lost) and country line dancing (this is where the sweat came in, had a blast).

Now back to work. But how do they expect us to settle down after that??

LOL I'm sure it was impossible to work after that!

LAdies for them who have them, dont the spanx roll up at your thighs?
Thats why I got the tights, but they are blooming expensive if you put your finger through them after one wear:rolleyes1

Lynne - I find they stay down your thighs mostly its the stomach that rolls down! I have the same issue with tights! I do use the comfort shorts from Evans however under skirts and these give some shape too

Hi everyone! Sure trying to keep up with you all while being gone is hard. We have only a few more days gone then head home on Sunday. Our week in Chicago was great. By the way we did have Gino's East pizza. We prefer that one when we lived there. Indiana was nice seeing family. Now in Phoenix. Holy cow is it hot here! Indiana and Chicago were so humid! The dry heat here is bad. Although, we were in the pools at the resort for 3 hrs yesterday. I got so sunburnt on back! I tried my best putting on the sunscreen, but was I to ask my 3 year old to do it? (since dh is here for work and not with us in the mornings) So, today is an inside day to give my back and shoulders a rest. We took our dd to her first movie last night. It was Toy Story and she just loved it (as did we)! I totally cried! It wasn't due to the movie but thoughts of Emma and her bear that has flown all over the US, Disney cruises and Hawaii. So, guess I realized that someday "bear bear" will be one of those toys that she won't be taking to college. I know everyone keeps telling us these times being young will go by quickly, some days it's just hard to realize that. Anyways, great to catch up with everyone. Also, we did get our excursions we wanted and dinner, but no brunch. So, will try to get it once on board. Although, we have to try and get Flounders at the same time for Logan.

Glad you got most stuff sorted and enjoyed the movie! We have another month to wait over this side of the pond!

OK - I've got a few bites on the poker. I did talk to DH about it, and he said, that a tournament style game will take minimum of 4 hrs. "We'd have to schedule it on a day that's no so busy." Um, apparently, DH has forgotten we will be on the sea for 6 straight days. (or is it 5?) Um, yeah, I think we MIGHT be able to find some time on one of those days. Anyway, I'll give it a few more days for others to catch up. DH says he "could" probably run something if anyone is interested. :rolleyes1

Oh now what I would say is we got stopped for playing cards for Gold Fish Crackers on DCL once so you may get people stopping you if they think you are betting but it sounds like a cool idea. Wish I knew how to play poker.

BRUNCH

I have just been onto the Disney Cruise site, on bookings for our Cruise and saw that there were openings for Brunch (2 people). I dont know how many places, but hope that somebody might be able to take advantage of this and be able to get a booking.
I was lucky enough to get a booking on Sunday at the opening time, but I know some of you couldnt get a booking.

Missed them I guess!

Only 10-15 pages in 3 days?:rotfl::rotfl:

I'm off to Disneyland Paris in a couple of weeks time for 4 days .... maybe i should just admit defeat now,

after taking 4 days away i'll miss about 50 pages and countless underwear themed conversation. :rotfl:

SW

Jason and I will be doing laundry, too----and we're technically men ;) :lmao::lmao: (those of you who remember the tigger and tinker bell conversation of a couple weeks ago should get a chuckle out of that! :thumbsup2). We'll probably be playing games in the laundry room (or nearby) while we wait for our loads to get done!

I'll admit it, I chuckled when I read this

I think this was discussed once before many threads ago, but do we have any idea of how many kids will be on the ship. We are bringing our 2 DD's ages 6 & 7. I wasn't sure if there is going to be many kids their age on the ship.

I think someone said on the EBTA there were around 200-300 children so less than normal but I'm sure youll have other kids around those ages

Hey everyone----

I know I haven't been on the boards in a few days....my family (mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, and 11 month old niece) have been visiting me and Jason for the past week and so I haven't really been online much....but I logged on today and there are almost 50 pages of new posts!! Unfortunately there is NO WAY I can read all those and catch up (and besides while I'm trying to catch up I"m sure you'll all post another 20 pages!! :lmao::lmao:)

I know I have a handful of PM's to respond to and I'll get to those later this evening. Otherwise if you think there's been something on here in the past 4 or 5 days that I really need to know or that I missed...someone please repost it OR send me a PM!!

Welcome back Eric!

Does anyone know whether we can check our account balance before we board? I think I was offered an OBC when I booked on board, but don't remember, and don't know how much it was. I think it had something to do with being excited at the time.... :woohoo:

I've also been following some of the discussion on the fuel surcharge, and would like to know if we're getting a credit or not. The instructions say "To see if you are eligible for the onboard credit, go to My Disney Cruise on or after the determination date. Retrieve your reservation and view the Invoice Information under Reservation Details." But I can't find "Reservation Details" anywhere, and so can't check. Where do I look? :confused3

Thanks!
Richard

FSC seems to have not be refunded although a few people have seen it appear on their reservation (I think this has been DVC people mind)

John picked up his new iPhone 4 this morning. Well it was this afternoon actually after he had queued for 5 hours!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Try getting him to queue for 30 minutes for a Disney ride!!!!!:rotfl:

My God! I wouldn't have qued that long for Toy Story Mania lol!
Ok I now have the idea that there are going to be many of us vertically challenged, more 'rounded' curvy ladies on board.......:thumbsup2......we'll be like a liitle clan of our own!:rotfl::thumbsup2

LOL Ill join the "Curvy" crew although I guess at 5'6" I'm average height

This weekend i'm off to Paris(disneyland). Hopefully i don't have to take a day off to read all the messages on this board.

Connie

LOL I did last weekend! Have fun in DLP!

I missed around 70 pages I think last weekend and was away for 3 nights lol!

Welcome Andrea! Glad you and your family joined in the fun!

Sue - so sorry to hear about your tooth. I hate when things like that happen.

Erik - I talked to Doris about the luggage and she said one bag - 50 lbs. and most likely Delta, but you probably know all that.

Hope everyone up north is surviving those terrible storms.
