I see lots of dog/pet chat... funny, we just had to take our dog in to the vet this morning. She got dehydrated and has intestinal irritation or something. Vet says she'll be ok and is on meds and supervision for a day or two... but it sure had my youngest shook up this morning. (It's her dog.) Speaking of animals... Do you all board them while you're gone?

Ours usually go to a boarding kennel where they are spoiled rotten. They are usually greeted with bellows of: "The girls are here - the girls are here." On Sundays, a little birdie told me that they usually get pulled into the office and get to roam with the human girls in there. I did tell you all they are spoiled right? This time around, the older "adults" will be here so I am :scared1: to see what my house will look like after 3 weeks of non-responsible adults being at the house. LOL - they are responsible, just not about cleaning.

Many of our friends are very jealous of our European Vacation and journey on the Disney Magic. My DW, Lauren, and I would always say, jokingly, "You should come with us!"

Well, last night over dinner, a friend of ours told us that he and his wife will be arriving in Barcelona on Sept 15th and will be on the Magic. :scared1:

Thank goodness its a big ship! :lmao:

Dont worry, my mum and dad were in the room next to us and we only ever seen them at dinner:goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2:That will teach ya! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks for the reminder, I keep checking for a room number, will tell you as soon as I know
Glad I'm not the only one who keeps checking for a room number this far out!

From there I bought a clarinet at a garage sale and my 9th grade year switched to alto clarinet for concert band and did saxophone for Jazz Band. Then in my junior year I picked up bassoon.
This part cracks me up. I borrowed a friend's clarinet one summer and learned it on my own before switching to bassoon officially. And I played sax whenever we had a substitute director!

Daniel? Not that Big. However, if you keep mum about the DIS, then maybe your DIS friends can keep you "occupied." LOL - Just Kidding, I've been doing the same for years and so far haven't had anyone brave enough to take us up on the offer. At least they didn't ask you what flight you were on. :rotfl2:

I've just about decided that although my son does not deserve this trip, I should not punish myself. So since I don't have anyone I can leave him home with, looks like we both will be cruising. Could change my mind in the next few days, especially if the behavior goes south, but keeping my fingers crossed.

Also, in anticipation of keeping the cruise, I had a lengthy discussion with DCL today over the fuel surcharge. They refused to remove it so I told them to move my booking to something in 2011 and I'd be calling them back tomorrow to move it back to this cruise. They finally agreed to reprice my trip at today's rates, but without the fuel surcharge. I ended up getting a refund of $140. The surcharge was $224, so I'm still out $84, but hey $140 will buy me a lot of Drinks of the Day!

Good for you!! My TA claims we don't have the surcharge but the port fee etc. for the two of us are $696.60 and seem high to me but since I went through a TA, can't ask DCL.

I hope your son's behavior improves but if it doesn't, there are plenty of us who are willing to offer unsolicted advice!!

To funny. Hope they do not find out about the DIS or you are a cooked goose.:rotfl2:

Kimberly,

So sorry to hear about your mom but like others have said, she was with him and she was probably the last image he saw. Also, there's always rainbow bridge. I shudder at the thought of the day that I lose my rascally furkids. I get so attached but I hope that I have the strength to be there for them. Please send your mom a :grouphug: from your DIS friend. I hope she's able to smile soon. In the meantime, please don't be so hard on yourself, remember - the Serenity Prayer:

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

Well said :thumbsup2

Matt Lucas rules! He is so so funny as the Tweedle's!
Totally agree, He is hilarious! Love Little Britain! :goodvibes

OK last night I ventured out to Amazon lol and brought a new Camera as I really liked the look of this one! I ended up getting it in Red (wanted green but it was £10 more expensive)

Kodak-EasyShare-C142.jpg

Very Cool! I love the red, would have been my first choice (since there's no pink).

Well I have news. I don't know if it's the right thing or not, but it seems to be the right thing for them. I'm still at grandmother's (I can't stay at my mom's because I have respiratory allergies to cats, and they have one), and mom called last night saying they found a Bichon Frise breeder in Akron (a little more than an hour away) who has a 12 week old girl. paw: They're going to pick it up today, and she's so excited. :goodvibes She has to work a 12 hour shift, so her husband is going to pick her up, then when mom gets home tonight, she'll have a new furkid waiting to meet her.
Yay, A new furbaby will help ease the pain, how could it not? They are such beautiful little bundles.

Sue,

You need to stop working and posting at the same time, and solely focus on the important stuff, the cruise. Our new room is 8548.

Your loving hubby
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Always knew your were lurking around here Glenn!

All this talk of dogs and other pets, and seeing the Beagle Bling picture, has driven me to share a picture of my two greyhounds in their Halloween Costumes.

Very cute, I will have to post a picture of my Holly in her Mickey mouse ears!

I'm trying to lose some weight, so no dress shopping for me yet.
Speaking of animals... Do you all board them while you're gone?

Is anyone on here NOT trying to lose weight? I'm definitely choosing the Alaskan cruise next time so I don't have to worry about getting into swimwear! :rotfl2:
My furbaby Holly goes to Granny's house to play with her friend Jessie, they adore each other and she loves having doggy company.

I am having another procedure tomorrow and she is taking me. Because I will be knocked out, I have taken the rest of the day off. I will tie her to the chair and have her get the roll call done!

Hope your procedure goes well.
Good plan, tie her to the chair or put her on a leash!

Our little furry girl is also just getting over some kind of doggie intestinal stuff. My next-door-neighbor's dogs have had it too. We're fortunate that one of our daughters will be caring for her while we're gone.

Love to hear about your DD is in color guard. I did many many years of marching band and then drum corps (in fact still doing it - guess I just don't want to grow up). I am a percussionist, play almost all the woodwinds and did a little guard too. Yes, I am a band geek and proud of it.

I was a band geek myself - played flute in high school. My oldest daughter played flute and piccolo in high school and in the UCF marching band. The youngest played flute for her first year in high school and decided to switch to Color Guard full time for next year.

Glad shell be OK! What bread is she?

She's a Miniature Schnauzer. Very small one. When dd said she wanted a dog (I'm a cat person) I insisted it be a dog that WE could walk rather than one that 'walked' us. Dh is a Dobie guy so we'd had big dogs before.

Hi Anne, I would love to visit Texas one day.
I am a vet nurse, kinda like a teq in usa but we do more, minor ops, dentals and stuff, I am so so lucky, my beagles normally go to "grans" for holidays but since they have the cruise bug they go to someone at work who has beagles, well actually its really sad her beagle Poppy, was pts last week, any how they normally got to Aunty Alisons, I am very lucky, Orly is a REAL naughty noodle and not many folks I could trust to take him, glad your dog is ok, I do emergencys only, our bread and butter is vomit and diarrrhoea:confused3 so I am sure its nothing too drastic, back to normal soon I hope ...
yuk, sorry, tmi! how about your furbabies while your on hols?

She's really sweet and very loving and excited to see us, so you could sure tell she felt awful. It was a bread and butter day for our vet, for sure! lol... The bed in her crate was just ruined so we went to Petco to get her another and dd has her a 'convalescence spot' all set up for when she gets home.

Well, before the dog has always gone to board at the vet... and that is likely what we'll do this time but it just seems like such a long time to do that, ya know? Also, we have cats and birds... so we are going to have to figure out what to do with the rest of the 'furred and feathered' friends. If it were just a week, we'd load them up with food and water and they'd do fine... we've done that before... but this time we'll have to figure out something else.

Is anyone on here NOT trying to lose weight? I'm definitely choosing the Alaskan cruise next time so I don't have to worry about getting into swimwear! :rotfl2:

Good to hear! I was hoping I wasn't the only one. Really, I've been trying to lose off and on for awhile but the cruise really gives me something to shoot for since I REALLY didn't like how heavy I looked in LAST year's photos. I swear, the mirror in my bathroom and my camera are on different planes of existence. They do NOT show the SAME thing the SAME day. And I hear you on the whole swimsuit thing. Oy.

That IS fortunate! We used to live in TN and there was this high school boy who had a Pet Butler service. He'd come and 'babysit' your pets and change the food and litter and what not while you were gone, pick up your mail, change which lights were on at night etc... It was GREAT... I've REALLY missed that. Boarding is great for those weekend trips, but I sure hate doing it for the really long ones.

A great geezer geek!

:thumbsup2:):rotfl:

Daniel

:lmao: Yep, we do the same and there are 2 couples that are now saying they want to do the Alaska with us in 2011. Both are fine and we would enjoy each, but they don't know each other, not sure they will get on really well... AND we are sailing with a bunch of DIS Geek friends on that one which is where I want to put my energy. We will see..:confused3...big ship!

I hope your son's behavior improves but if it doesn't, there are plenty of us who are willing to offer unsolicted advice!!

Don't worry, your not the only one, there has been extensive conversations over the past few months on how we all are trying to move the pounds.
I am the same with the cruise being the motivation. I ended up making myself quite ill, I have gallbladder tumours to start with, they usually cause me no problems, but I went on this silly diet called the Dukan Diet, It is protein only for the first 5 - 10 days. Well, I got to about day 9 and my gallbladder chucked a major tantrum, I was pretty ill for a few days. Learnt my lesson, healthy food and exercise is they way to go. The good news is I did lose a couple of kg's! LOL!
Ew, I hate photo's. I always hide behind my kids! And as for he mirror, I avoid it at all costs! :rotfl2:

Kimberly, I want to see pictures of the new puppy! I love puppies!!!

I thought for sure that since the gas prices have been going down, we would be ok with the fuel surcharge...guess I was wrong... :sad2:

Thank you to all of you for your kind words for my sister. She went into school this morning, mentioned that she had a doctor's note that said she shouldn't be in school and they promptly sent her home! :lmao: She can't go in tomorrow but she'll be there on Thursday for the last day of school for the kids.

Today I changed my driver's license over to my married last name...now I know why I waited so long - the DMV was CRAZY!!!!!!!! I waited for over an hour and a half! It was insane. Then I went and applied for my passport - well, renew my passport/change my name. I had to send in my actual marriage license, which I'm not too crazy about, but at least it's on it's way. It was a crazy day! :upsidedow

Will be nice to meet you in person. Double reed players are a special breed.

Yeah! I hope he is not being too much of a ST.

I so would love to lose 20lbs. I have been walking home almost every night from work (~30-45 min) at a nice brisk pace. I got a Wii Fit and I don't like that I keeps telling me the weight is the same. I totally changed my eating habits over 2 years ago when I was seeing a trainer, so I eat much healthier than I did, but still have cheating days here and there (once and a while it is a cheating week). Since then I have been holding steady with maybe a 5 pound fluctuation. I really thought it might be fun to do the canyoning in Maderia, but I am on the cusp for the maximum weight allowed and that is with lightweight clothes and not my walking/hiking shoes on. Plus I will have 15 days of vacation under my belt by the time we get there. However, I do think I tend to lose weight on vacation. I think that I am going over 14 hours a day usually (and not sitting on my butt like I do at work) and use the stairs 95% of the time.

Kimberly - so glad to hear about the new member of the family. It may seem quick but I did the same thing when the kids were little and it really did help with the grief of losing Buffy. We still missed her a lot but it helped to have a new puppy to love. And it really sounds like your mom needs her.

Amy - YEAH!!! So you were able to get your passport renewal/change submitted!!!! Now hopefully you'll be sent in a couple if weeks!

Fuel charge - don't get me started!!! I still don't see how they can legally charge SOME of us for it. Are there any lawyers out there???? I mean I know that it's in the contract but how can they only charge some if the passengers and not all of them? Can someone explain it? Maybe all the cruisers stuck paying where it's not across the board can start a class action??!! See - I told you not to get me started! :rotfl2:

Getting excited that we can finally book this weekend!!! Just have to get through thus week. We have a big corporate audit happening at work! AND, five birthdays and two high school graduations in a span of 1-1/2 weeks!! By the time we celebrate the last birthday on Sunday we've all had enough of seeing each other for a bit!!!

Oh I used to hate going to DMV in CA and OR when we lived there. Here we have maybe a 20 min wait on a bad day when they are having computer problems. :surfweb: We changed DGS's plates to MT a few weeks ago and did not even have time to sit down before they called us to the counter. :goodvibes We get DL at regular DMV office, but renew auto registrations and such at the Treasurer's Office at the Court House. Maybe splitting the activity into two places helps. :confused3 Or maybe it is because there are less then a million people in the entire state. :thumbsup2 We need to go to the court house in the next few days to get license and registration on our RV. Other than the $$ involved I am not dreading it.

Glad you got it done though, even with the frustrations.

Ok you chatters... took me 2 days to get thru 21 pages!!!:lmao:

Talks of computers and cameras... heres a suggestion: on the room tour we get to display our camera gear and computers!:rotfl2: We could add pics of our furbabies too.. just to save some time:cool1::rotfl::lmao:

Band geeks... my DH has to be the biggest one. When he was 13 his band came in 2nd place in a L.A. county fair.. and he has played the french horn and the drums. In the Navy he played in the Drum and Bugle Corps while in boot camp, before being assigned his regular assignment on an aircraft carrier.
I guess I could be considered a geek too... I play a mean Ipod!!!:rotfl2:

Kimberly... so sorry for your parents loss of their dog, and very happy that they are finding a special place in their heart for the new puppy.

Welcome Nacho Mama!!! Cant wait to meet you in September.
Im Ann and DH is Howard, this will be our 14th Disney cruise, and celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary.

And I just noticed... we now have 3 Anns!:dance3:

Ann aka... Annie:flower3:
