We have moved to a cat 3 - room 8524, and we are still willing to to be a part of the tour...

Happy Monday, everyone. It's been a long time since I've posted here. I've just had all kinds of problems w/logging on and being able to access threads (I'm talking hundreds of error messages after clicking on threads). Could be my computer, but I can't tell you how frustrated I've been! As a result, I haven't even been able to keep up w/the threads (#6!) 'cause I couldn't access them, but we are paid up and we are going on this cruise :thumbsup2

Welcome aboard!!

I have terrible news for our family to pass along, and if you're a pet lover, you will understand...snipped...Please send good thoughts in the wind for my mom....she needs them. Thank you!

Hugs to you, your mom and dad too! So sorry to read of your loss.

birkner, tweety0227, HallsofVA, and anyone interested:

Here's a response I received from Sharon regarding the 4-hour private Barcelona tours with a pickup and drop-off at a place(s) of your choice. Unfortunately she must have overlooked my last email regarding inquiry about doing a tour for 11.

birkner, tweety0227, HallsofVA: I will PM you with more info.

When are you guys touring? We land on the 16th at 9am. I am not sure what time we can drop luggage at the Praktik, so we may be looing to tour...

Welcome!! I have a 13 year old that is also homeschooled so Abby is excited to hear that more kids are on board her age! Where is home??

Kimberly - don't feel bad telling us - we are "family". We are having a huge thunderstorm and my 100 lb. Rotti jumped and she is sitting on my feet. I just love it. What would we do without them?

Also - Sarah - YEAH on the scrapbooking - you are on the list!:cool1:

LOL - I was even sad last night and did some online shopping for scrapbook stuff!

Has anyone else been watching the fuel prices? Unless there's a sudden drop in the next 2 days, we are not getting a credit for the fuel surcharge. It closed on Monday right around $75 per barrel and we have to close under $70 to get the credit.

I'm going to run the numbers and see if I would save anything by canceling and rebooking.

I was going to ask about this as have a note in my caledar RE FSC. It doesn't effect me as managed to reshop before final payment - mind you my price went up from $999 per person to $1069 per person but it was cheaper than with the FSC. It may work out the same for others!

I have terrible news for our family to pass along, and if you're a pet lover, you will understand.

I was so sorry and saddened to hear the news about your pet ... it is so devastating when you lose a 4-legged friend as they are part of your family. Your poor Mum must be in a state of shock. Sending :hug::hug::hug:

Hey Sarah - remember this is NOT a whole page, just an embellishment - diecut, stickers, borders, fun thing that you made, etc. It would be hard for me to bring an entire page and not get it wrinkled or crinkled in my luggage. What I am making, I am putting in a zip lock bag for everyone. We would love to have you!!!

We would LOVE to have anything you can find from a craft shop. No, it doesn't have to be DCL. Just think of Princess Night, games you might play. music you might here, shows - Villians, etc. It will be fun and easy and just think of the cool stuff you will get in return!

I am thinking about joining in with this too ... though like Sarah I am a bit worried that my scrapbooking skills suck. I don't have a die cut so I will just have to shop around.

Hello all! I just checked in on another thread and Gizmo (and someone else) answered and invited me over here...

We are doing the Westbound Transatlantic in September. Dh and I and our four daughters ages almost 18, almost 15, 13 and 12. We are homeschoolers and do school pretty much year round so we can do stuff like this at odd times! We've got flights to Barcelona, hotel, and are working on excursion decisions now. I still need to get tickets from Orlando back to home when the cruise is over... so will do that soon....

What else should I have in an intro? lol OH OH, I know, this is our second Disney (or any other kind of) Cruise.

Hi and welcome ... we are Sarah ( another one ) and Tony from North Wales and it is our 2nd cruise too. We are so excited.

For the same amount of money, a PC will actually be faster than a Mac.

Ease of use is definitely a personal issue. It's mainly what you're accustomed to. Personally, I find PCs much easier to use. I was at my youngest DD's high school Color Guard organizational meeting last month where they were using a Mac to give the presentation - six people gathered around and they couldn't figure it out! My oldest DD is a computer graphics specialist, working in marketing for a large home builder; she uses a PC and runs circles around her colleagues with Macs.

Macs DO get viruses - just not nearly the number as PCs; the low life, scumbag ne'er-do-wells (maybe I'm prejudiced) who create viruses want to go after the largest target population they can, which is obviously PCs.

Bottom line is that you need to look at your budget, what you're comfortable with, what your intended uses are, the applications available to support those uses, and what support is available. (DW is lucky I'm there - I have to clean and optimize her PC regularly, and sometimes wipe the disk and start over :confused3)

Anyone who wants to talk geek, I'm here! ;)

Thanks Mike. I was thinking PC because I can get a better spec for a lot less dosh.

Okay I am back ....trip to Phoenix was somber ....

Anyway I had to chime in on the PC vs MAC thing ...

Its very simple ,

PC cheaper yes ...no doubt about it ...

Mac easier to use ...without question

If your typical use for a computer is everyday things like browsing the net , email and bills and such the Mac is the best choice ...Now of course Mac can do many things ...

The thing I never liked about a PC is every time you get one , you get a ton of crap you dont use nor want , which in some cases leads to pops ups every time you turn on the computer , Free trail this and free trail that ... With Mac you get what you need , nothing more , nothing less ...If you want to add software you do ...period .. I mean, why is the Ipad sold out everywhere ?? Because it provides everyday people with a simple and easy to use computing experience ...

Now I agree ...I am sure PC's for the same price are faster and maybe have things like blue ray and so forth , but if your looking for a computer for the everyday world , then to be honest as far as quality and the long lasting ability that apple has over other PCs , the choice is clear ..Mac

I was a PC , and got tired of crashes , viruses and endless BS ...So I went to Mac , and converted all of our business computers along with our personal ones , and to be honest after almost three years I have not had ONE issue ...not a one ...Customer service is above and beyond anything I have experienced with PC ... I will never go back to PC even if it were given to me ...

There is a learning curve to Mac , but its "Duh Things" Like wow thats the way it should be ... being on windows made you over think ...Mac brings simplicity in soo many ways ....those that have switched to mac will agree ..

Thats my 2cents ...I know everyone has their own opinion ..... I love my Imac , my Macbook Pro and soon to be iPhone 4 ...:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh no ..... now I am confused again. :confused3:confused3:confused3

Hi and welcome. Just my husband John and me, Marilyn. Three grown up children and 8 grandchildren will be at home, so we can have FUN!!!!

To be perfectly honest with you, I never truly thought about it that way! I always thought we looked different, especially if we're talking face to fact. When we were little, we REALLY looked alike - so much so that I'm not even sure who I am on pictures! Now that we're grown, we sometimes look alike, sometimes we don't. What makes being identical twins interesting is when somebody who knows my sister sees me and thinks I'm her and I have no idea who they are! That actually happened with my sister's boss the one time! I didn't know her (I knew her name but not what she looked like) and I felt so badly after it was over. What can you do though? :)

Right now, my sister has a hurt back from teaching - her one students throws himself on the floor and she has to pick him back up. He's not a little boy either, from what I've been told. Anyway, she went to the doctor today and he wants her to stay home from school until Thursday - well, there's no way my sister's staying away from her kids during the last couple of days of school...so she's going in tomorrow. Hopefully she'll make it through the who day.

:)

I imagine how you felt looking at your twin is quite normal I suppose, but how funny you can't recognise yourself in early photos!!! I once said a loud cheerful hello to a friend who looked at me a little vague, then later I 2 of my friend. :lmao: I had just met the other one.;) I never knew my friend was a twin. Not a close friend I hasten to add. I felt very daft!

Sorry to hear about your sister. I hope her back holds up. What a lovely caring teacher she is to go in to work in pain, for the love of her pupils.

isn't it wonderful? I'm still watching it, its really getting me in the mood for our cruise! Like you I wish my filming was half as good as Phil's!:thumbsup2

All the best with the Dissertation, and all the other work you are doing too. You will be ready for this cruise.

Lyn all the best getting that dissertation done!

At the moment I am trying to buy a computer .... am torn between MAC and PC, but I could only stretch to the cheap end of the MAC scale .... the 21" monitor one. I could get a much higher spec PC with a 24" monitor for £200 less .... so I am not sure.
There seem to be a lot of MAC users on here ... so can you tell me why should I buy a MAC over a PC when the PC would be a lot higher spec.
Thanks :thumbsup2

Putting my hand up for Geek status here. My job title is System Architect which basically at my job makes me one of the senior technical staff (see girls can be IT geeks and thats probably why I didn't date until I left school LOL). Anyway, for my job, I design, install, implement and support computer networks - Windows networks, Windows desktops and pretty much all Microsoft apps apart from specialised software for our clients.

Anyways, I'm a Windows girl since Windows 3.1 (that pre Windows 95) and last year I bought (shock, horror) a Macbook Pro for home. I decided that I needed to try something new. My last two laptops had been Acer and Dell both running XP. Well lets just say that I'm totally hooked on my Macbook and would never go back to Windows at home. At work I need to use Windows but for a home user, why would you bother with Windows?

I did have a few wee "what the heck?" moments for the first hour or so until I found a video on the Apple site for "Windows users" which took all of 5 minutes and answered all my questions.

I for one will be glad when Windows has a bit more competition in the business arena.

Oh and I use Open Office instead of Microsoft Office and Thunderbird for my email - I don't run any "pay for" applications at home (and no, no pirated software either!).

Room Tour

Sarah/Paula........... who wants to do the room tour, I suppose we have to narrow it down to 1 from each cat?? or will we have 2 from some cat.

Stateroom numbers and map/route will be available nearer the time.

I will print maps and bring them or e-mail them to you so you can print them.

We are in 6641 and happy to have the tour come through but easily happy to be dropped from the list if another room works better (we won't be offended).

I have terrible news for our family to pass along, and if you're a pet lover, you will understand. About 15 minutes before I was suppose to have arrived at my mom's Sunday morning, I called her to let her know that I was running late and was just about to leave home. It takes about 70 minutes to get to her place.

This is so sad :sad2: Hugs for your family. These furkids sure do steal your heart.

LOL well each have to bring a random gift from Farmville!

Not sure how I can get a cow in my suitcase though ;)

I am sure you will do well on your dissertation. Look forward to meeting you both on the cruise.

:wave2: WOW! Left you all back on page 50. Guess that's what I get for letting "life" get in the way. Anywho, just wanted to drop by and see how far behind I was. As it turns out - A LOT.

OH! And I just finished watching Alice and one of the most handsome man in the world give Stephen King's "IT" a run for his money. All in all, I was entertained and at the end of the day, I did laugh out loud in a few places. So all is good in Disney land for me. :)

...If I had been at her place on time, she wouldn't have had time to go the ATM with Sidney, and it never would have happened. It's just not easy to stay away from the "what ifs".

Please send good thoughts in the wind for my mom....she needs them. Thank you! :)

Kimberly,

So sorry to hear about your mom but like others have said, she was with him and she was probably the last image he saw. Also, there's always rainbow bridge. I shudder at the thought of the day that I lose my rascally furkids. I get so attached but I hope that I have the strength to be there for them. Please send your mom a :grouphug: from your DIS friend. I hope she's able to smile soon. In the meantime, please don't be so hard on yourself, remember - the Serenity Prayer:

God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

I have to admit I liked Alice! Johnny was great!

Hmmm....

Frugal is such a funny sounding word....

I prefer to think of it as "maximizing my resources"! :rotfl:

I've been regulated to "maximizing my resources" lately and DH hates it because all of a sudden, I'm finding "maximizing sales" up the wazoo! :lmao: Now, if I could somehow find a way to maximize that DCL Dooney and Bourke! ;):rotfl2::lmao:

Let's review the facts:

Does he have a girlfriend? No.
Any children? No.
Confirmed adult bachelor living alone? Yes
Does he seem to talk with a lisp some of the time? Yes.
Is it his mantra that he's one of a kind and "different"? Yes.
Is he bouncy trouncy flouncy pouncy fun fun fun fun FUN (as most of us gays are ;))? Yes.

I rest my case :lmao::lmao:

OMG Erik - you are hilarious, I am going to have to seek you out and follow you around just to keep in a good mood. Thanks for flipping the coin and making me laugh. :rotfl2:

I have to admit I liked Alice! Johnny was great!

I was leery after watching Willy Wonka but the costumes were awesome and so was JD as long as I didn't stare into his eyes too long. Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. :rotfl:

What about Eyeore .... he can't be gay .... he may be male and live alone, but he's way too miserable :sad2:

Ah Man - Eeyore is just a poor pitiful excuse for a..........ok - whatever he is - like my oldest DD says - ugly _____ deserve love too.

Just curious who the camera people are ?? What I mean is , whos bringing the gear ??? LOL

Ill be bringing my Nikon D-90 that I got specifically for this trip , but actually got it early cause I went to the Philippines in Dec ....

I will be bringing all three of my lenses' ... 18/270 tele - my wide angle and the macro lens ....

So any others out there ?????:confused3

pirate:

 YES.........did somebody call me? ;)

You know Laura and I will be bringing our cameras......we will be the ones with them attached to us almost permanently!!!:lmao:

I have a Canon Rebel and a small Olympus that I will be bringing. Not sure what Laura has this year :confused3

Actually, the last two trips to Europe I had to lug my own gear (school trip) so I learned pretty quickly to travel camera light (after the first year). I've consolidated my 3 lenses (when I'm traveling) to one Tamron 28 - 300 VC (think IS) which if it isn't back from fixing - will turn into my Canon 18-200 IS lens. And my Canon G10 which is my point and shoot and I ABSOLUTELY  and adore. So much in fact that I am seriously debating on dumping my 50D and going solo. In Peru, my 50D lasted only about 5 days into the trip and then I relied solely on the G10. Course, all the climbing seriously impacted my decision to leave it behind in the safe.

ARgggggHHhhhhhhh...Hear you...but some of us are Canon people :lovestruck

And we have loads of gear also !

Another kindred spirit! :wave2:

I will be bringing my Canon XSi with my 18-55 lens, 70 to 300 lens, my nifty 50 and my macro lens. i never travel without all my lenses and have the lowepro 200 backpack that makes them easy to carry.

:wave2: You should have seen me on the PC cruise. I have lenses and camera everywhere and that Canal wasn't very nice to them. But this time, I may have DH with me so I could take them all.

RIGHT>>>>>>>>> now all my disney duties are finished for the morning I can take the beagly weagles for a walk, they have been pushing up against my legs for 20 mins now trying to give me the hint.
