That is the name of the menu (if I recall correctly) for the formal night (when they do Twice Charmed).

OK well that is the night we were planning on wearing our Princess garb anyway so that will work out perfectly!

Before taking 3-1 Purex sheets on this cruise, you might want to read product reviews or try them at home.

On the EBTA, people tried them at home and found stains on dark clothing. YMMV.

Woody

Really? Jason and I have these 3in1 sheets and we think they work really well. We discovered them after our last long cruise and bought them and used them here at home and thought they were alright and now we take them with us to DVC resorts when we go (because we hate powdered detergent) and have never had problems so we were really banking on them working out on the cruise ship, too! hmmmmmm :confused3

oh now that's fabulous news! Jason and I were wondering if they would do a Hawaii trip...and the article mentions possible Asia trips, too! guess now we'll definitely need dummy dates for 2012! ;) (although we already have our next 3 cruises booked in 2011 and so we were planning on seeing about rebooking those onboard to get the OBC and a discount)

OH!!! :woohoo::dance3:

Glenn saw this and it got me thinking... But, I fear that the airfare combined with the special cruise fare would put a DCL Hawaii cruise out of reach for us... Shame, as I am positive it would be a Wonderful trip... Although it is 2012... If we didn't take a huge vacation in 2011... We will have to look into it while onboard in September. I hope thathtey are announced by then so we can see the rates... Ofcourse, if not Hawaii maybe the Fantasy... :thumbsup2

Dummy date, like Erik and Jason! :thumbsup2 Then if the price is too much just move the dummy to another cruise that you do want to do.

Hi Sue,

We are confirmred for both the Kiwi & Coconut group-have been PIF for some time now, but still haven't been assigned a room # yet (I check at least once a day!)

That's a pretty stying cast that Becca has, so glad it hasn't put her off gymnastics.

Janice

Hello all. Its been several MONTHS since I've been on the boards (I know that's horrible...), but we are in the middle of transitioning jobs and moving from WI to IN. I checked in here for a minute to see what was new, and see a lot of posts about the FE groups and possibly removing people from them... I'm worried I might be one of the non-responders. I signed up a long time ago and gave my room number, but don't remember hearing anything since... Should I have? How do I know if I'm confirmed?

Thanks!

Hello all Disney Cruisers, I am finally signing on. WE are down to the TWO digits and can start getting my mind ready.. DH has been pushing me to get ready but sometimes I am slow. DH and I are renewing our vows while out to see and DSIS has all the details aligned. YES for those of you who do not know she is the family organizer. My DD and her DH are comming as well. This is her graduation present from the family. Cannot wait to go and have the countdown in my head and heart. Hope to sign on a few times a week and get to know some of you for myself, DSis keeps me posted and updated. :cheer2:

I am certain you could sign in daily and post, but that would mean a little less farmville, cafe world and every other game you place on facebook:rotfl2:

Oh and so folks are clear, this is my Dsis! Shame her into coming here more often and being part of this group!;)

I was trying to get the FE groups set, and confirmed so that people who were making things could finish up and not worry about things changing. This is why I was asking for confirmations a couple of weeks ago, and to be honest I am not getting as far as I wanted. As I know not everyone can hang out here like some of us do, and that we are a hard group to keep up with, I have also sent PM's and am not getting replies.

My feeling is if they aren't replying to PMs and emails that they aren't interested and are unlikely to participate with their end of the exchange. I think maybe put those that haven't replied into a tentative status in each group maybe and see if they resurface?

OMG that is exciting - Hawaii is only 8 hours from us and its totally gorgeous, where do I sign up? ;)

Also Asian would be great too - Singapore/Hong Kong/Shanghai/Tokyo are about the same distance from here as LA but I've never been to one of the Asian parks (yet).

We have a friend with identical twins who had looked into these things and she said even though our girls had separate placentas instead of the one that identical twins have, it depends on when the egg actually splits, meaning identical twins might have separate placentas. So in fact they could be officially identical.

I have cousins (girls) that are identical twins - separate placenta but as they said, they have moles in the same spots. They are very alike, one of them also had identical twin boys on the same birthday - it actually made headlines in the papers in the UK (about 18 years ago). My cousin that doesn't have the twin boys has a son only a few months difference, and people think the boys are triplets. My cousins kids actually have trouble telling their Mum from their Aunt and no one can tell the boys apart - even their parents struggle with it.

I am certain you could sign in daily and post, but that would mean a little less farmville, cafe world and every other game you place on facebook:rotfl2:

Oh and so folks are clear, this is my Dsis! Shame her into coming here more often and being part of this group!;)

Your Dsis should add me to her Facebook friends - I play all those games too. :rotfl:

Hey all...a little info needed....we will be flying out of JFK on Friday evening before the cruise....will have 2 checked bags and 2 carry ons....how is luggage handled when we reach Barcelona....do we get the checked luggage or does Disney handle that like in Orlando....since we probably have to go through customs in Barcelona I would imagine we need to retrieve the luggage.....what do you guys think?
Tom

We were going to meet her and the other couple at the airport on the 16th as we arrive on Sept 15 and will be staying at the Renaissance.

Do you think you will be up to touring for most of the day?

Just my thoughts....
:surfweb:

We're coming in on the 16th but also staying at the Renaissance. I'm hoping we can go drop our luggage off there even if our rooms aren't ready.

Awe! You're so sweet! I *really* appreciate you offering! Right now, we do have 5 people, and I'm waiting for a quote for us (tweety0227 and birnker). I'll pass along the quote to you as well in case you want to do the tour with the same company! I will pass along a request to see if they have an 11 passenger van or not, just in case you want to hang with us, too! I *THINK* they stick to 6 people per van because of luggage, but I'll ask.

BTW, I'm really looking forward to our flight! We have quite a crowd of DISers just in that small cabin area! :woohoo:

The flight should be fun! I know several of us are seated in the same section together.

birkner, tweety0227, and HallsofVA: I did sent (another) email to Sharon asking if they have a vehicle for 11 people plus approx 18 pieces of luggage and carry-on. (Whew!) So at this point, a quote request for 5 and 11 people has been submitted.

Their tour is four hours, so will be finished before 2:00 pm local time. Isn't that official siesta start time?

Thanks for letting me know what the quotes come out to be. It will be nice to know what your quote is, and if there is a significant per person discount for the larger group. We'll probably end up doing our own thing, since we have the kids to consider.

We will already be checked into the Renaissance. I am sure they will let you check the bags with the bellman. Worse comes to worse, you can drop them in our room. :thumbsup2

Just got back from a couple of nights on the boat, it was a bit chilly in the wind, but beautiful in the sun. We had a few friends come out and have a drink and a fish, the kids caught more fish on their pink Barbie rods than anyone else!

I was thinking myself that I'll pack a black cashmere wrap
(it's lightweight), and I just might have to buy a sweatshirt on-board for late night strolls instead of packing one. Yep. Treasure's Ketch is indeed where you'll find me on the first night for Dooney and sweatshirts.

Cashmere wrap is always on my packing list!;)

Just had a drink with mickey ice cubes in it......lol...it's the little things that please me.....:goodvibes

A little bit of Disney everyday is always welcome. I love using my mickey cutting board!:thumbsup2

Well, we are off in the morning to Walt Disney World! Our daughter starts her professional internship with the Mouse next week. We're sad she's leaving us, and excited for her all at the same time! We don't usually visit the World at this hot, crowded time of year, but it should be fun nonetheless!
Have fun, very jealous!

My Zazzle order arrived today! I really like the MMC t-shirt, but moreover, I'm so pleased with the social business cards!

(Note that for posting on the boards, I blocked out my last name. So if you noticed the inconsistent coloring, that's why

IMGP0889NameBlocked.jpg

Love your cards, Very cool! :thumbsup2

Have to work in the morning then off to celebrate. My DGD is having her birthday tomorrow. She is 4 going on 40.:scared1: After that we are having the grandkids over for the night. DH told his son we would watch their 9 yr old and 2 yr old for the night. I told my son I would watch his 13 r old, 4 yr old and 1 yr old for the night. Do you think that DH and I had a conversation prior to the planning. NOPE! Now we have 5 granchildren for the night

I am pleased to share that my son has come to his senses and has moved back home. The grandchildren are happier. I realize it takes two and feel certain the DDil has come to her senses as well. Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes and pixie dust. I will now go have stiches put in my lips from biting them when I wanted to speak!

Wow, I don't know whether to say Good Luck, Have Fun or OMG, get yourself a valium!
I'm so glad to hear about your DS, maybe that pixie dust really works!

Leaving for Disneyland in about 6 hours! Can't wait!!! I'm going to see the new World of Color (via the dining package) and Fantasmic (via dessert package). I'm sure there will be about 100 pages when I return home. I hope everyone has a good weekend!!!!
I watched the live stream of World of Color a couple of days ago, WOW! It looks fantastic, Have a wonderful time!

Since it's now the 12th, it's officially my dance recital day! This is my 27th year dancing at the same studio. I do a duo with my twin sister...this year we're doing a Broadway jazz routine to "Don't Rain On My Parade" as performed on "Glee" (Shocking, I know, me selecting something from Glee!). I used to REALLY be into dancing when I was younger - well, three ACL reconstructions ago! I do miss the old days when I didn't have to wear two bulky knee braces, but if it's the only way I can dance, that's what I'll do. We had dress rehersal tonight. Last year we couldn't perform in the recital because I had just had my ACL done in January (it's a 9 month recovery period) so it was WONDERFUL to be back on that stage tonight. When I'm dancing, I forget about the pain of the knee surgeries and I just enjoy being up there and performing.

Break a leg!

Ive skim read all the posts, sorry for not replying to you all, I really miss you guys but been rerally busy...... Happy Saturday eveybody, HOW excited will we be 14 weeks at this moment, probably had lunch by now, been up to lots this week, train, walks, boating, treasure hunts, barbys, bla, bla speak soon and stay well everybody.....
Don't apologise, we all know it's a full-time job to keep up here, sometime life gets in the way! Sounds like you've been hectic lately, we'll be here when you've got time.
Also, sorry about the drama's with your niece, I'm sure it will blow over quickly, we're all only human, nobody's perfect......Well except me, :lmao:

Is anyone doing tiaras for formal night? Becca wants one, and I am trying to get her to reuse the one from BBB...

hadn't thought of it, but we will now! :thumbsup2

By the way, I hope I didn't offend anyone by my enthusiastic showing of the England flag!? Wasn't intended...just some fun as I'm so excited to watch the World Cup!

It takes a lot more than a flag to offend me! Pride for your country is never offensive, even if it is the UK! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Anyway, here's a link to my photo's. They aren't great but it was a hard show to get good pic's of...

Chasity

Thank-you so much, just loved your photo's, especially the very last one with the park in the background, magic! :goodvibes

I didn't realize there was a prince and princess night...what night is that? Jason and I have very fancy Disney Princesses tuxedo sets and/or if it's not a formal night we have Disney Princess neckties, of course, so we'll be done up in our princess regalia for sure!!

I just can't wait to check out all your ties and tux sets! :thumbsup2

DS and DIL are heading out that way for the first part of their honeymoon this summer. They are both CMs at WDW. (well he is. she is seasonal, now) and they are going to Australia for their honeymoon. All flights to Australia from NY go through LAX, so they decided to spend a few days at DL. He was there 2 years ago. She's never been.
Where in Australia are they going? We are on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

When we did the repo in 2007 we did not really buy anything (or at least I do not remember it). DN was trying to plan and budget for spending. Does anyone have any idea what is special in Barcelona, Gibralter, Tortola or Maderia that we should budget for? St Maareteen I have under control. There is a jeweler there that we like to frequent who has some nice bobbles.;) Not to mention that yummy drink they have there in St Maarteen.

I too would like to know what are some traditional or special purchases in each port, Things like jewels, traditional handicrafts, foods, ect.....
Does anybody know?
Oh, and share the 'bobble' shop, please!

Two of our granddaughters ran the Race for Life this morning. They ran the 3 miles in 34 minutes and their mum had a hard time keeping up with them.

28977_402372224500_807164500_408169.jpg

They are adorable, Good on them!

You've been added!
We haven't added our name as we have 34 hours of travel with 2 children to get to Barcelona, so we're not sure whether we will make it, But we would love to try. I'm not sure whether you are giving HRC numbers or not? Can we add ourselves, but apologise in advance if we don't make it?

FE questions...

Also - has anyone that was GTY been assigned to a cabin? Maybe the people I am looking for will come out of the woodwork once cabin assignments start?
Sue, this is os much work for you, Thank-you so much!
I'm not sure whether we were meant to confirm anything, but you know we're in! And NO! We haven't get a room assignment yet.

At some point, you must remove those persons who don't respond either here, on FB, or by PM. If they don't respond and we don't have a cabin number, how would we deliver our FE gifts?
Noel, I agree, If they don't reply now, they won't reply with cabin numbers, we won't be able to deliver them! :confused3

I do agree there. We should have all paid in full by now, so barring disasters should know if we are going, so really people should be letting Sue know.
Yep!

After the recital was over, we had two different complete strangers tell us how well we did. I have to admit, after 27 years of dancing that made me feel really good! :goodvibes

I was SOOOOO tired till everything was said and done but it was a great night! :)
I'm so glad everything went well! :thumbsup2

You should PM Su_Kraft straight away, she's hard at work trying to organise the FE and would appreciate hearing from you! :goodvibes

A few times a week, DIS is addictive and everyone is so friendly you'll find yourself checking in daily, at least!

Hi everybody - I hope you had a great weekend! Granmaz - Loved the picture and what a great charity your granddaughters ran for. Very impressive!

Sue - I am still GTY but have my FE's made already and have paid for the cruise so unless something horrible happens - I AM THERE!!!! I agree with the 60-day cut off that someone recommended. The only people on my list that I have not heard from are:CarsFans and CruzDirectorKaren, but I think she has been on here lately, but CarsFans nothing.

Also, for the Scrapbook FE list I have:

Buckeye Gal
1DisneyQueen
Bareacuda
MagicMe
Hoagie Pie

I love it, will keep the list and post something a little later. I think DCL is having a scrapbook class too. I don't know how great it is, but I thought it would be fun to give a little "DCL" to each other for a fun memory that we can use in our scrapbooks. If anybody else wants to be added, just PM me or tell me here!!

Have a great Monday!! Thanks Ann for the beautiful pictures of the Magic in Dover!

Really? Jason and I have these 3in1 sheets and we think they work really well. Erik,

As mentioned, YMMV. I'm glad the 3-in-1 sheets work for you.

On the EBTA thread, people had mixed reviews. I won't burden this thread by quoting them, but here are some links: Post 381, Post 398.

My suggestion was simply to first try them at home.

Again, YMMV.

DH's family are originally from the county of Norfolk where they were either ship builders or farmers. DH's family moved to Southampton when DH was 16 or 17. My family pretty much comes from an area that is in modern day Poland. 3 quarters of my grandparents settled in Frankfurt during or after the Second World War. Only my maternal grandmother was born in Frankfurt, but her family again came from an area that is now Poland.

Corinna
Corinna, I was thinking about you yest, where have you been?
While everyone has paid in full by now, the cancellation penalty does not kick in until next week, so cancellations can still happen. I know because I am still uncertain about whether or not I will make it on the cruise but I have to decide by next weekend.
Fingers crossed you make it.

For those who don't know, Race for Life is run each year at various venues up and down the country to raise money for Cancer Research. Run by women, they typically dress in pink, many with photos or tributes to family members or friends who have died of cancer. Many survivors take part too!!! It is a great fun event and you can run, walk or crawl. I'm sure there is something similar in the US.

Thats a lovely photo Marilyn and well done to your girls for doing the Race for Life in such a fast time .... I did it last week and they beat my time of 46 minutes :rotfl:

FE questions...

So, I guess I just need to know how to proceed. Am I being overly anal?:rotfl: If so, I am sure I can find something else to obsess about for the next 94 days!! :rotfl2:

Also - has anyone that was GTY been assigned to a cabin? Maybe the people I am looking for will come out of the woodwork once cabin assignments start?:confused3

No cabin assignment here as yet .... can't wait for it to come in and I will let you know as soon as it does.

While everyone has paid in full by now, the cancellation penalty does not kick in until next week, so cancellations can still happen. I know because I am still uncertain about whether or not I will make it on the cruise but I have to decide by next weekend.

Hoping you can make it Monica :wizard:

My family were booksellers in London during early 1800's. Some of the family were in the Royal Navy during both 1800's-1900's. Grandfather Chappell retired with his wife's family (Wright) to Southhampton area. My family in Germany have an unusual last name and they are only about 8 of them. Our family was also from an area that is now Poland.

DH's father's family is from Erlangen and Nuremburg. Several family members were professors at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg.

I love family history ... I have traced some of my family back to the early 1800s and we had one couple who went to Australia about that time, had a couple of kids out there and returned back to the UK eventually. The ship they sailed on was wrecked on it's next voyage, so they were lucky really. More recently in the mid 1900s a few relatives emigrated to USA ( Ohio ) and to Australia and we now have more relatives in Australia than in the UK.

The recital went wonderfully! My sister and I ushered before the show and I ended up seeing somebody from high school. I wasn't friends with her, however her father died in the World Trade Center on 9/11. I always think about her and her family around that time of the year. I told myself that if I ever saw her, I would let her know that - so I had the chance to tell her that last night. She said she appreciated that I thought about her every year and I was very happy to let her know that.

I enjoyed the recital - the little kids were so cute! We didn't dance until the second act so we were really able to enjoy the entire first act. During intermission we changed and went backstage. Mind you, we both have to wear ACL braces on our knees so it took a good ten minutes for us to get our braces in the right place! LOL!

When we walked onto the stage, so many people were cheering - I was so taken back. The dance went wonderfully and I LOVED being on stage! I loved the dance and I didn't even think about my knees at all.

After the recital was over, we had two different complete strangers tell us how well we did. I have to admit, after 27 years of dancing that made me feel really good! :goodvibes

I was SOOOOO tired till everything was said and done but it was a great night! :)

Sounds wonderful .... so pleased it went well and you enjoyed it so much. My DDs show went well too.

OMG, my Dh is a direct descendant of the Mayflower as well. He is related to Stephen Hopkins, who had the only child to be born of the Voyage named Oceana. Small world that our DH's would both have ancestors on the Mayflower.:goodvibes

Isn't it ever? John is a descendant of Richard Warren.

Richard Warren married Elizabeth
Nathaniel Warren married Sarah Walker
Alice Warren married Thomas Gibbs
Abigail Gibbs married Jireh Swift
Jabez Swift married Abigail Pope
Elisha Swift married Mary Ransom
Phyle (Phile) Swift married Silas Hart
Julia Maria Hart married William Milner
Samantha Milner married James R. Criss
Mary Abigail Criss married Frank Beckwith
James Marvin Beckwith married Hattie Mae Keener
Helen Marie Beckwwith married Donald Pomroy Greene
Mary Elaine Greene married John Martin Birkner Jr.
