I've lost track of all the posts about chocolate - has anyone considered going to the chocolate museum (museu de la xocolata) in Barcelona?

http://www.pastisseria.cat/en/PortadaMuseu

I went there in 2007 and had a fantastic time. We arranged a group tour in English. We were shown around the exhibits (many of which were Disney creations in chocolate) then had a mini seminar in which they taught us the difference between milk, dark and white chocolate and had us taste each in a melted form and solid form. So yummy. They even handed out extras for us to take with us. As much as I enjoyed it, I don't think I'd do it on my own. There is not a lot to do except walk around and look at all the sculptures made of chocolate. The addition of the seminar is what made it special.

After years of wearing the typical brown, bronze color glasses, I finally broke down and got the burgundy colored glasses three years ago. Then this year, I got the new blue ones. I figured at my age, I needed to be a cool grandma or Omi as the kids call me.:goodvibes

glasses-1.jpg

Ohhhhhh very nice!

As far as bathing suits to suit your shape goes, I need everything put together in one suit. You know, petite, fuller figure, top heavy, fat around the midrift, tummy control......get the picture? :scared1: Probably better you don't!!:rotfl2:
.

What about a burkini? :rotfl: I believe they are an australian invention designed for the young islamic women so they can keep covered and modest but also enjoy the beach with their friends.

As for money in the UK, are you staying in London? If so bring double what you need. London is expensive compared to most of the UK

Mum is going to be staying near Croydon - with my Uncle so its just incidental costs luckily.

Can someone send ice???
My A/C went out last night it was 97 at 11pm and 81 inside by midnight:scared1: So here I sit with the outside is a whopping 96 at 10am. The A/C guy due "any time between 9 and noon!" Thank goodness I made a ton of popcycles for the grandkids...something cold to enjoy. And the fur babies like them too:rotfl:

Oh we had plenty of ice here yesterday too - you would have had to collect it off the lawn after it hailed though ;)

Today was lovely, freezing cold but at least the sun came out.

Captain, are you going to link with the early dining group? I have not gotten a PM from you yet? We can request the rotation that puts us in PC for Pirates if everyone is up for that.

I'm assuming you are arranging the linked dining in that case and will send you a PM as I don't recall if I already sent you a message about it :)

Re time keeping. For those of you with Windows Vista, dont forget Windows Sidebar has an add in function for event count downs!
Mine is staring at me as I write. 94 days till we pick Jon and Candida up from Birmingham Airport for the UK portion of their trip:cool1::thumbsup2 .and 102 days till the 4 of us board the Magic in Barcelona! :cool1::thumbsup2

PS Dont forget I am on BST time in UK, so clocks wont exactly synch with all of yous lovely people lol!!!

Lyn

OK seriously! I have to learn how to use my PC!!!

OK - one last time... Just in from Autumn... :) At least there is consensus now... Rotations are also listed below! Happy planning!! :yay::yay:

Sue
Hi Sue,

I truly apologize for the conflicting information. I have confirmed once again with Dining the information provided below:

Formal Night:
Night 3 – Gibraltar
Night 8 – At Sea

Semi-Formal Night:
Night 13 – At Sea

Pirate Night:
Night 9 – At Sea

Theme Night:
Night 7 – At Sea

14 Night Transatlantic Westbound
Rotation 1 - 6:00 / 8:30 - LAPLAPLAPLAPLA
Rotation 2 - 6:00 / 8:30 - APLAPLAPLAPLAP
Rotation 3 - 6:00 / 8:30 - PLAPLAPLAPLAPL

Thanks Sue! At least we are all getting the same answer

Okay, I realize that their days when I may not have all synapses firing. Today was clearly one of those days. I just realized there are two Sarahs on this board. I was so confused for a minute,:confused3 them embarrassed thinking I was calling the other Sarah by the wrong name. I am good now:thumbsup2

FORMAL NIGHT PLAN I have just decided I am going to wear a gown every night and that way I will always be prepared. I will wear a patch for pirate night, pearls for semi formal and a tiara for the "official" formal night. Maybe I can find the light weight crinkle kind so that packing will be a breeze:thumbsup2 Problem solved!:woohoo:

I'm afraid there are definitely 2 of us ..... and I think there are more but they don't seem to post very often.

Love your formal night plan :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I'm a bad boy and you can all feel free to point and laugh at me on-board! :)

Because I just logged in for the first time in 5 days and there was something like 900 pages  (well Maybe in exaggerating just a little) to catch up on….. so I admit it I skipped 40 or so….. There we go, I feel better for coming clean and admitting it.

I’m now so far out of the loop I can no longer even see the loop!!!

Sorry if I missed anything important.

but i'm back....

Oh and in case you're wondering i've been at Alton Towers. (thats a large roller coaster park for all of you who have never heard of it)

SW

It is difficult to keep up ..... especially first thing in the morning UK time when our friends in the US have been busy chatting while we've been tucked up in bed. :surfweb::surfweb:

If I have room in the luggage - you will see a package in your FE!:cool1: I know I will have room, so expect one in your FE - how is that!!:thumbsup2

ooooooohhhhh ........ I'll be looking forward to that

I LOVE coconut anything, they had a limited edition yonken or whatever it is coconut yohgurt, mmmmmmm

Do you remember the ice cream .... Carte d'or Coconut ..... it was divine :thumbsup2

For anyone else who's lazy like myself and doesn't want to count days on paper, here's the site I depend on:

http://www.timeanddate.com/date/duration.html

Thanks for that Kimberly .... very useful :thumbsup2

I love alton towers, where did you stay, weve stayed on site once, it was great, a long time ago now though!

I love oblivion "dont look down":scared1:......... as if:lmao:

I feel scared just standing next to that ride ..... :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Love this :thumbsup2

That is about asbad the latest prescription that my doctor put me on. If it was not for insurance the bill would have be for $896.70 for thirty pills. That is $29.89 a pill. That for 15 days. $1793.40 a month

Also for good news. My pain is a lot less and I have not taking any pain pills today. I still have some pain, but it not that bad most of the time. Some time its still painfull. Also today was my first full day of normal work in 47 days. I clear to do most of my job except moving heavy copiers around. Be careful around of elevators.

Pleased to hear that things are improving. Those pills are very expensive :scared1:

OK ... so now we seem to have a concensus on dining locations, how will this affect the cruisers who want to link. I imagine we will all have to request the same rotation.

So for late diners who want to link ....... which rotation should we be requesting?

OK - one last time... Just in from Autumn... :) At least there is consensus now... Rotations are also listed below! Happy planning!! :yay::yay:

Well that is the same as the last notification we got, so I'm thinking this will be it!(Till next time anyway!!:rotfl2:) Thanks.

We're with you on Animator's - it's like sitting in my parents' kitchen back in the 60s. We always try to schedule ourselves in Lumiere's for formal night, so APL works for the first formal (according to the latest schedule!) but also for Pirate night. There just doesn't seem to be a really good choice. Palo every night? :rolleyes1

One thing I have noticed is that when you have a great table of friends, the actual restaurant on a particular night is not that important!:thumbsup2

Also for good news. My pain is a lot less and I have not taking any pain pills today. I still have some pain, but it not that bad most of the time. Some time its still painfull. Good news.:thumbsup2

Just a heads up for those who aren't doing the dining plan and not necessarily eating at all Disney restaurants while staying at WDW (I know, oh, the horror of it all!)

Restaurant.com has some restaurants from the Swan and Dolphin as part of their program now. I made reservations last week for Shula's (heard it was great and we didn't have a tasty experience at Yachtsman last year) and today I saw that Shula's along with bluezoo and Il Mulino have $25 certificates for $10 each (there's another one but I don't remember the name right now). Add the coupon SAVE when checking out and that $10 becomes $2! Yup, an 80% savings on the cert! Hope someone else can use it!

Michael

Thanks Michael. I know quite a few Brits get these vouchers so it is good that the Swan and Dolphin are included. I have heard Shula's is excellent, and Blue Zoo always gets top reviews.

It is difficult to keep up ..... especially first thing in the morning UK time when our friends in the US have been busy chatting while we've been tucked up in bed. :surfweb::surfweb:

Do you remember the ice cream .... Carte d'or Coconut ..... it was divine :thumbsup2

Yes, have to quickly read through before the Dis goes down for 15 minutes or so just after 9am!! On our 2008 PC thread there would be 20 pages to get through some mornings!! They were an even more chatty bunch. Used to come back to hundreds of pages after a holiday!!!:lmao:

I loved that coconut ice cream. I think I only just found it when they stopped doing it. I have looked all over for it to no avail. It was so refreshing.

Oh yes the system is different in the UK! DD now has a graduate degree - hers is a Bsc (hons) in Optometry. About 20% of the students on her course were from Canada for some reason? Anyhow the next stage for her is 18 months of pre registration training she will be an optometrist - should it all go to plan.

Looking forward to the CC walk :thumbsup2

Oh fab! I found there were lots of Canadians over here when I was at Uni too. Very odd

Hello all....does anyone know what time they start boarding the ship in Barcelona? My DW and I will be flying the red-eye into Barcelona on Saturday and taking DCL transportation to the port for the Magic....we probably gonna be wiped out since neither of us sleep well on a plane....
Thanks!
Tom & Marilou

They started boarding at 12 last time. They didn't open the rooms up unitil 3 I think it was

Oh I wish I lived in the US! This is fab! We were thinking of doing Blue Zoo and also noticed House of Blues on there!

Man, focus on work for a day and it takes all night to catch up!

I'm another one who likes to be in Parrot Cay on Pirate Night (or AP, but not Lumieres), and doesn't like to be there on Formal Night. It's just not the sort of restaurant I want to be in wearing a fancy dress (those chairs always ruin what I wear anyway). Unfortunately, each of the rotations has something that I don't really like and there seems to be no way to avoid PC on a formal or semi-formal night.

So, I'm leaning toward having no opinion on rotations, and taking whatever comes (or whatever the group decides if we end up linking for early dining.) Of the 5 special nights, the LAP and PLA rotations both work okay for 4 of those nights, while the APL rotation only covers 3 of those. So if I had to give a preference, it would be for one of those two, though I might lean toward the PLA because P only lands on semi-formal and Theme night, and not on an actual formal night.

I'm with you! I'm not giving a preference!

C'est moi! We are heading to the Toronto area to check out our DD's new house!

Wow, the exchange rates that were posted on that website were spectacular. I can't find rates that good in the US.
(But I am a newbie at foreign exchange rates)

I tried calling Travelex here last month and they quoted me 14% over interbank rates plus a $7.95 fee to exchange $200 to euros. :scared1:

My bank was only charging 5.8% over interbank rates. I think that that is close to what DCL charged on the EBTA. I wonder if the DCL rates are floating or they were the same for all summer? If they are the same they will be far higher than 5.8%.

Hey now! Nestle is OK. Palmer chocolates are horrible! I bought a Palmer chocolate bunny when they were 75% off at Target. Only chocolate I ever threw out. I must admit that I probably wouldn't have thrown it out if I had paid full price! :rotfl:

Ok, another place to eat when we are in Canada! And there is one just around the corner from DD's house!

So no new glasses for me! RX hasn't changed enough to justify new glasses this year.

Guess I will just have to use that glasses money toward a new iPhone! :woohoo:

That is a huge charge! Luckily over here we don't get that charge added!

My eyes actually hadn't changed much but with my HSA insurance I pay into each month I get £100 back for my glasses so always end up getting them anyway. I think I'm not 7.5 and 6.5!

Thanks for the ice!:cool1:

A/C guy was here by 1pm and done by 3! Grand total to fix the stupid fan and motor.... $950.00 :scared1:
Well... we paid nothing, we had the all wonderful warrenty:banana: cost : $O.oo Now for that good nights sleep

Lynn... we just have to meet up and see if we could wear the same size shoe! :worship: Next hand bags!

Ann:cool2:

so glad you have it fixed.....and din't have to pay that price either!:thumbsup2

We requested rotation 2. Fits part of what we want, but not all of it. I am not a fan of Parrot Cay - except for Pirate night - and I like Lumiere's for formal night... I also wanted to do Theme night at Animators... So, for us, 2 was it... Yikes - Hayley - I hope this is OK!!! Forgot to ask you guys!! (Sorry - we can change the request...)

that would be my idea too....:thumbsup2

Also for good news. My pain is a lot less and I have not taking any pain pills today. I still have some pain, but it not that bad most of the time. Some time its still painfull. Also today was my first full day of normal work in 47 days. I clear to do most of my job except moving heavy copiers around. Be careful around of elevators.

Glad you're feeling better, hope you recover fully soon:)

:woohoo:

Thank you. We felt very fortunate to have the kids go to that school. No more than 10 in a classroom. Only 60 in the graduating class, so you knew everyone.

wow that was a small class!:)

our preference would be rotation 2 or 3 as we would prefer not to be in PC for formal night...just my opinion.....:confused3

That is so true!:)

Oh I wish I lived in the US! This is fab! We were thinking of doing Blue Zoo and also noticed House of Blues on there!

Love both of those...must take a look too!:cool1:

OMG, I've had a busy couple of days and I come back to a million pages, OK, small exaggeration.....

So I am going to try and bring my walker so I can go on the Madrid whale watching. It is book as a gift for hubby.
I think whale watching is worth bringing your walker, I hope you have a wonderful time, and see lots of whales!

and there will be an incentive ........ a frozen strawberry daquiri at the Heads Up bar is what I am aiming for when I finish the power walk.
Tell you what, I'll pass on the walk, but meet you for the frozen strawberry daquari, Cool? JJ, Can I join the walk if I feel like it or do I need to commit now?

No they are not related---but you're right they do look very much alike! I've said that about Lea Michele (who plays Rachel) forever! Both actresses are broadway stars----Lea originated the female lead role in "Spring Awakening" and Idina Menzel (who plays her mother and director of "Vocal Adrenaline") is a Tony Award Winning Broadway actress----she originated the role of Maureen in "Rent" (the lesbian character who sings the cow song) and played the character in the film version of the show and she was also the original Elphaba in "Wicked" (which she won the Tony for) and originated the role in the London production, as well. She's also married to Taye Diggs (who is also an original "Rent" cast member and who is from Rochester, NY!)

You are a fountain of knowlege, aren't you just!?!

:cool1::cool1:
Just did a count: 86 days until we leave Canada to begin our vacation. That means 42 more scheduled working days
Jon
That makes it sound even better, Hang on, I don't work so It's 0 more days at work for me until we leave!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

14-Night Transatlantic Westbound Cruise
*Nights 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14: cruise casual
*Nights 3 & 8: "formal night" - formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit;
for women: gown or dress
*Night 7: "theme night"
*Night 9: pirate night with deck party - cruise casual or bring your
best pirate outfit!
*Night 13: "semi-formal night" - semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket;
for women: dress or pantsuit.

Thanks, I'll reset my iCal.........again!:thumbsup2

I like Hershey chocolate with peanuts and love M & M's. Has anyone tried the coconut M & M's. It is the best!
We only have regular, peanut and crispy. I used to love them but the chocolate taste seems to have changed lately and they don't taste as good?

Can someone send ice???
My A/C went out last night it was 97 at 11pm and 81 inside by midnight:scared1: So here I sit with the outside is a whopping 96 at 10am. The A/C guy due "any time between 9 and noon!" Thank goodness I made a ton of popcycles for the grandkids...something cold to enjoy. And the fur babies like them too

Haha, that's a normal day in summer here. A hot day is 107 plus! :goodvibes

I will have to agree with your DH here. The minute I get on the plane - I am on vacation!!! At least he is excited
Us too, on the plane, too bad if we've forgotten something, too bad if there's an emergency at work, too bad if I'm on a diet, WE ARE ON HOLIDAY!:cool1:

they are such naughty noodles!!
That's an understatement, Last night she got one of the kids bags of craft glitter, Sat on my bed and shook the hell out of it everywhere. No amount of vacuuming can get all that glitter up! My DH went to training this morning and his trainer said "Why do you have glitter on your face?". DH was very unimpressed!

The pretzel M & M's are really good too!!
They sound different? Are they like the crispy ones?

FORMAL NIGHT PLAN I have just decided I am going to wear a gown every night and that way I will always be prepared. I will wear a patch for pirate night, pearls for semi formal and a tiara for the "official" formal night. Maybe I can find the light weight crinkle kind so that packing will be a breeze Problem solved!

Sounds like you've got a plan :thumbsup2

I'm a bad boy and you can all feel free to point and laugh at me on-board!

SW

Naughty, Naughty, Naughty boy! pirate: Are you scared now? I'm pretty scary! :rotfl2:

Yes, Taye Diggs lived in Rochester for part of his childhood and all of his adolescence (although he wasn't born here). He is a graduate of "School of the Arts" which is a public high school in the Rochester City School District with a fine arts focus.....you can think of it kind of as Rochester's version of the school in the musical/movie/tv-show "Fame"-----the school is open to all students grades 6 through 8 (I think) but beginning in their 9th grade year they all have to be accepted to a fine arts focus like acting, singing, dancing, an instrument, etc. I work with lots of kids through my LGBTQ youth group who are students there and it's a pretty wonderful school (also only about 8 blocks from my house and office)! He also went to college in upstate New York at Syracuse University I think. He comes back now and then for benefits and shows and things to support the school---and I actually was in a production here locally with one of his vocal coaches from high school, too---but, sadly, to date he has never brought Idina with him. (I'm infatuated big time with Idina...LOL...I simply adore her. I saw her in Wicked on Broadway 8 times before she left the run----I've seen the show itself 19 times total----and I own every CD she's ever recorded, as well!)

OK, Nobody else is gonna say it, And I mean this with all the love in the world, But.......You really are gay, huh?

After years of wearing the typical brown, bronze color glasses, I finally broke down and got the burgundy colored glasses three years ago. Then this year, I got the new blue ones. I figured at my age, I needed to be a cool grandma or Omi as the kids call me.

I like the burgundy ones! :thumbsup2

oh and i'm going on this amazing cruise in September that's soaking up all my spare cash ;) so we decided to save a bit on this trip.

SW

Soaking, more like sucking and slurping! :lmao:

OK - one last time... Just in from Autumn... At least there is consensus now... Rotations are also listed below! Happy planning!!

Sue
Hi Sue,

I truly apologize for the conflicting information. I have confirmed once again with Dining the information provided below:

Formal Night:
Night 3 – Gibraltar
Night 8 – At Sea

Semi-Formal Night:
Night 13 – At Sea

Pirate Night:
Night 9 – At Sea

Theme Night:
Night 7 – At Sea

14 Night Transatlantic Westbound

Rotation 3 - 6:00 / 8:30 - PLAPLAPLAPLAPL

YAY, looks like we have it right now! ;)

We are recovering nicely, Stephen is blistered all over, but it isn't slowing him down any. He is attending Counselor in Leadership Camp this summer and was able to keep up with the 7 and 8 year olds...

I am not as puffy as I was yesterday, so all :woohoo:And, yes, the hives from not seeing Mickey are going away as well...
:rotfl:

We requested rotation 2. Fits part of what we want, but not all of it. I am not a fan of Parrot Cay - except for Pirate night - and I like Lumiere's for formal night... I hope you and Stephen are feeling better now, Did you try cotton pads soaked in tea, then cooled in the fridge. Works for me.

Was just about to PM you to tell you to choose, I'm easy, OK, so I'm not easy, :rotfl2: But We don't mind either way! :thumbsup2

Today was a busy one in our house. We are definitely stimulating the economy. Let me preface this with the fact that our house is 46 years old. Today 3 original sliding glass doors with storm doors from 1964 were replaced with double pane, low e, argon gas doors. We remodeled the kitchen 20 years ago and today they installed new granite countertops. We got a great deal of $29 a square foot when they opened a new Home Depot by us on May 1. They are installing the new laminate floor next week. It has been busy with all the installers in our house, but we are loving how it is coming together. People around here are so hungry for work we are getting some great deals. Next thing is to paint the interior, but we will do that ourselves and it will be after the cruise. Nothing like updating your house to sell it in about five years when I retire. At least we will get to enjoy it for a while.

Donna

Sounds fantastic, Photos?

OK - so we totally changed our minds... Autumn is going to think I am batty... We have changed to rotation1. That puts in Parrott for the first formal night, Lumieres for Theme and semi formal and Annimators for the second formal. Most important, we will be in Parrott for PIRATE night... Gets us most of what we want...
Cool :thumbsup2

ARRRG Captain! That be rotation 1 that ye be looking fer. There is plenty o rum there, and if yours fer the askin!

OK, I really need to work on my Pirate lingo before I meet the captain, since that seems to be the only way to communicate with him! :rotfl2:

What about a burkini? I believe they are an australian invention designed for the young islamic women so they can keep covered and modest but also enjoy the beach with their friends.

burkini230607mos-468x810.jpg

Love it, have you seen Sex and The City yet, The Birkini makes an appearance!

My eyes actually hadn't changed much but with my HSA insurance I pay into each month I get £100 back for my glasses so always end up getting them anyway. I think I'm not 7.5 and 6.5!

Is that myopic or hyperopic? Near sighted or Far sighted? - or + ?
I'm assuming myopic, either way, that's a pretty hefty Rx! No wonder you like to get new ones, Good to have a spare pair!!

:wave2: Just dropping by and realized I was off for 1 1/2 days and 17 pages were put on. Yup! Its getting closer. I hven't even bothered to look at the DDD countdown, someone just tell me when to leave and where to go and I'll be there. :rotfl2:

I think is the -ive one. I can see very very close up so I'm long sighted I think. I can barely see without them so definately need spare ones and getting them every year keeps me at least 1 spare just in case! Touch wood I've only once broken my glasses but you never know! I do have the lenses thinned slightly so they aren't quite as heavy on my nose lol!
