I am petrified of getting sea sick! We boat most weekends, but not very often off shore. I have been sea sick once and it was the worst, I would rather be in labour! I can deal with pain, but not sick!
Anyone have any remedies that work? Ginger tablets? :confused3

In October 2007 we followed a TS down to St. Thomas and followed a hurricane back up to Castaway, which became Nassau on the Magic. I tried the green apple and ginger-ale, remedy and I did o.k. I was wobbly but not sick.

Goofy's always has green apples. If Goofy's is closed but the topsider is open for dinner just ask the host at the stand if you can have a couple of green apples from over at Goofy's. They were very eager to assist when I asked.

Our DD and her family are visiting from Oregon for a few days. We took a trip up to Glacier National Park today. It is a 3 hr drive due north of us. It is beautiful! But we were only able to drive 14 miles into Thursday Dennis and I drove to Helena, MT which is 2.5 hours northeast of us. (he had an appt at the VA hospital over there) That drive was amazing also. We live in such a beautiful area. :cloud9: Today I said a prayer of thanks, while looking across McDonald Lake, that I was given this Montana man in my life who would bring me here to live.

You two make me mushy,

LOL Oh my God I have to admit I read this as "Goofy" always carries apples around. I was trying to work out whether I'd ever soon Goofy with apples and where he would put them! Took me a few minutes to work out you meant the food place Goofys not the character!

Sarah, I read too fast sometimes too, lol.

Joe, good luck!

As for calling, while in port you may be able to but check with Verizon that your phone is compatible. At sea you wont be able to at all! That's what we found anyway!

I have to say that was not our experience about the phone not working at sea. My regular Verizon phone (non GSM) was able to be used most of the time while at sea through the Cellular at Sea program. There were times it would not work - but those were the times the internet on the ship did not work either - so I assume it had something to do with the satelite.

Now they turn Cellular at Sea off when at port so my non GSM phone did not work at port but my DH's GSM phone did work at all the ports and on board (most of the time - like mine)

We had really great luck with the phone service.

Wednesday? Isn't it Saturday we get to book from? Very confused?

Oops...sorry! You know what I had on my mind was Wednesday, Sept 15 when there will be a group of us flying out of Philly. I guess I blended my stories together. Sad part is that I wasn't even drinking! :rotfl2:

Hi everyone!
I'm gonna try to catch up on this thread a bit... what a lotta posts lately! LOL

We got our excursions booked- all except St Maarten.
We want to do a discovery scuba dive there (all of us but youngest- only DH is certified so it has to be discovery dive) but not sure what company to go to. Waiting to hear from TA to see if they have someone they'd recommend.
Has anyone else ever done a discovery dive in St Maarten? I figure that's a long shot- but can't hurt to ask!

Keeping busy here now that summer is starting.... kids stuff mostly. LOL

Hope everyone is doing well!

Have you checked out this site? http://stmaartencruiseexcursions.com/StMaartenScubaDiving.htm

Hello everyone! Joe, good luck on sewing, you are brave. I just pass everything to Goofy Granny and she takes good care of me!

kcashner - congrats to your DD on the school - that is some accomplishment!

The bear shirt is adorable and I want one for Abby's baby for the cruise. Where did you buy?

Stephen - OUCH! You really need that MRI. Keep us posted.

Ginger tabs work great! I bought them for Hadley when they were going on the cruise here in the states. She swears by them. I know the patch has made my dad act "weird" and out-of-it on the cruise.

When he had bad weather during the TA in '07, I was actually on deck, all bundled up reading. It is quiet, nobody on deck, you have the run of everything, but it is raining. The worst place to be is in your room - makes you more sick. Get out, be with people, even if it is the Promenade Lounge. Laughing sometimes is the best medicine.

I am going to work on my FE's. It is a beautiful day in Florida!

Krisann - I sent you an e-mail regarding the phone!

Or it could have been my gutteral Spanish. LOL - By the way, we going to the beach again Pam? :rotfl: If we do, may I suggest we NOT take the men with us? :rotfl2:

Yes....leave men on the ship. I do not care to hear about the sights at the beach for the rest of the trip!!!:rotfl:

That's ok - "those" things just caused major conflict in our DIS schedule. SO......maybe THIS time I REALLY can get into the pool. Pam - maybe you can just drag me there again. ;)

I have lost about 15lbs since you saw me last and working on more!! So if I am "swimsuit" ready then I will be dragging you with me!
:lmao:

Anyway, I hesitate to ask but is anyone doing anything like shots around the ship or Portugal, or Tortola or....well, y'all get the idea? (And NO!, I'm not volunteering.....I'll show up but since I'm not a big drinker I would not be a good person to host that) I would however, love to spend time with fellow minded DIS-sers - last time it seemed we ended up in Diversions a lot. OH! I'm getting excited.

I am in.....let me know when and where

I agree. On one of the crossings, DH and I sat at a table of 8 but only 6 showed up. One couple completely ignored me and spoke only with DH. I felt so left out. (I am rather shy at first - BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!) and so I requested to move. Turns out that the family we ended up hooking up with turned out to be an amazing family and they ended up at my house for lunch upon disembarkation. I sorta felt bad for Steve as he enjoyed the first couple but really, I WOULD NOT have had fun. And if it comes down to it - I'm going to have fun - cruising is my thing....Dh is just along for the ride.

I absolutely loved the people I sat with on my very first cruise....been friends with them ever since and cruise almost every September with them!!! :grouphug:

DH is exactly like Steve.....I just tell him where to be and when. I really think that they are from the same family tree....one day we will figure it out!!:rotfl2:

My MIL had a bad experience with the patch. She was so "out of it" we had her take it off and use Non-Drowsy Dramamine.

We start my DH on Non-Drowsy Dramamine 24 hours before we leave, and then he takes once a day on the ship. This works well for him.

Hello everyone! Is there room for 4 more in this group? Traveling will be my DH, myself, my sister and her husband. (DH and myself will be doing the last Med cruise as well.) We've been on 12 Disney cruises, and did the WBTA in 2007 so we know what a great time this cruise will be. DH and myself are retired and live in FL so we get a lot of company and we travel when we can. DS and DBIL are working folks who live in MD. Our traveling and company visits will be wrapping up soon so we'll have some time to dedicate to getting ready to join you in Barcelona. This is going to be so much fun!
Welcome, we are Lynne and Leonard from scotland, my mum and dad are joining us too.

Sort of like a very light airy deep fried sweet pastry/doughnut thing!!! Someone else could describe them better I know. Full of air so they can't be fattening!!!! Coated heavily in icing sugar.

POFQ food court sell them and they are yummy!!!!!

Is it like a funnel cake batter only a different shape ? I am not a big fan of funnel cake so if it's like that I will avoid it :confused3
You would be as well taking the funnel cake and just sticking t to your butt:rotfl:they are rather yummy.
Well, this vacation has just become a day longer! Flights back to Mexico were less expensive on the 8th of October so I called and booked another night at Boardwalk Villas. They didn't have a one-bedroom available so we're downgrading to a studio for the last night, but all laundry should be done by then, right?!

Now to find somewhere else to dine on the 7th!

On the Mexico front.....we just contracted with the mover and customs broker and they're meeting us here in L.A. and we're moving south on July 3. Garage sales and packing up will start with a vengeance this coming week!!

After a bit of work today Marc and I are heading down to D'land for the last weekend of the Food and Wine Festival. Tonight is their version of Party of the Senses (called "Taste" out here). We've enjoyed it so much the past few years and we're looking forward to catching up with some of our favorite CMs who work the festival. A short nap in the evening (it definitely won't be a full night's sleep!) and we'll head back home early Sunday morning. We're usually up by 4:00a.m. and can be home by 5.

Another whirlwind weekend coming up!

Good weekend to everyone!

Michael
Hope the weekend went gd.
It look like it will be 11 of us at philly airport. We can have a mini meet in the airport at Chickies and Petes and have a cheese steak.

Now an update on my arm. My arm is swelling up a lot and having some pain. I was at the physical therapist on Friday and she said my arm is getting worst. She made my a custom made split so a can not rotate my arm over. She also give me a list of orthopedic surgeons in the area and said start doing my research. This is not looking good. I'm still hoping for good news on Thursday after my MRI.

Stephen
That sucks, I will be thinkinga bout you thursday.
We had a similar letter, and we were actually at the drill!!!! I was so MAD. Made me feel sooooooo guilty! The guy kept calling out our cabin number and I kept shouting and waving. The other folk sitting close by were laughing at usand our attempts to be noticed. It was so noisy in there.:headache: I even told one of the crew members on our way back to our rooms that we were there and would she check we were marked!!! We wrote a slightly terse reply straight away I can tell you.:)

I take a Bonine around sailaway time for that first night, but it does make me drowsy the next day. I thought I had bought 'Non drowsy' bonine, but it appears the best you can get is 'Less drowsy'!!!!:rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 It must be a stunning area Angie.

I hope Dennis is ok too.
I believe you Marilyn.;)
For all that travels west Good Morning . It a Big day for me. for I am being introduce to a piece of modern machinery, the wife sewing machine. I have accomplished the mandatory body parts inventory, all fingers -check, no holes in fingers-check.beer in refrigerator-check.:confused3

Wish me luck and a good after project inventory. For I am working on the FE.:woohoo:

Aloha
Joe

AKA TA2

Joe, I worked in a factory for 7 years sewing barbour jackets, hundreds a day, I sewed my fingers a few times, good thing was I got off work on full pay for a few days, I TRULY hated that job but had to do it so I could save up to take 3 years out and go to nursing college.

Maybe they improved it since 07 as I know we didn't have net for most of the sea days either!

Since I just read some yummy posts again about the funnel cakes and all the fattening wonderful things in life. My DH took me to Denny's today because I was still sad about this doctor thing. We ordered chocolate chip pancake dippers. It was little bits of chocolate chip pancakes, fried and served with powdered sugar and syrup! Heavenly! Has anyone had one? I thought of funnel cakes the minute it touched my mouth - unfortunately I did not do the rules from yesterday - spitting it out was NOT an option. Delicious!

I LOVE chocolate chip pancakes!! I got hooked on them when I was little(about 5 years old) traveling thru Las Vegas. I put tons on BUTTER and powdered sugar ... OMG!!! And to add a bit of Disney... make them into Mickey heads!:rotfl2:

Ann :earsboy:

I am glad you waited to book!! :)

Krista

Thanks!

not for sure when Cellular at Sea started but I know we did use it on the WBPC in 2008 with no problem. But when the internet/sattelite is down so is the Cellular at Sea! But I do have some phone bills to prove it did work some on the EBTA this year - lol - so you can plan on using it if you need to this time.

I told people to text me (only cost 5 cents to get those) and I would compose an email off line and send them back an answer or call if it was emergency - that worked great. I would only turn the phone part of my blackberry on at certain times of the day to make sure I did not have phone calls coming in all the time!

Krisann

You know I shouldn't be wishing my life away...but I am SO ready for this cruise!

They had some major satellite problems on the EBTA; at times they posted signs that the internet was not available. At other times it was very slow and totally frustrating. Some people complained and got refunds, others complained and were basically told "tough luck." I think it depended on which CM was at the desk. I didn't try cellular at sea, so don't know of the satellite problems impacted that as well.
