Just wanted to pop in and say 'HI!'.

I've been keeping up with the thread (just barely!) after an incredibly busy two weeks at work. The kids ran out of t-shirts, socks, underwear and shorts this morning - that's how busy it has been!

I tried to multi-post some replies but it didn't work and then I had to run off to work again! Our practice has had a lovely run of births and babies, all healthy, mostly home births. Busy but a wonderful two weeks. I am soon off for 6 weeks vacation so hope to post more, and participate more.

Please know that I have read your posts, and wish folks well who are undergoing tests (Nacho), congrats on kids getting into dream schools (TotallyAngelic) and other happenings.

We'd love to link up for dinner - but as 6 already would we have room? I know my mom would love to sit with other folks her age, and our kids would love to have kids their age sit with us. We are friendly but not too chatty, tolerant of just about everything and celebrate diversity, don't mind being working through language differences, and even have a Dutch background (DH and the kids). :-)

We are totally looking forward to the cruise and have been slowly getting ready. We've got our door decorations going, our Secret Mickey and FEs started, and I'm putting stuff away for the cruise. We even started using our stash of DCL shampoo and conditioner to get all senses into the mood!

Have a great day/night/sleep/morning!

Just wanted to share some good news ... my DS got accepted at college yesterday to study Media Production. He will start in September ( if he gets 5 high grade GCSE passes ). It is both my kids' dream to work in the movie industry and they would both love to work for Disney ..... nothing to do with being indoctrinated from birth I can assure you :rotfl:

Congrats to you and your son. Great way to start training.....from birth.

Feeling sorry for myself today as I am full of hayfever. Eyes are watering like mad, and my head feels full of cotton wool (mind you that's nothing new! ;)).....the down side of summer I suppose :confused3

...so instead I shall count my many blessings! :)

Happy Friday everyone!:littleangel:

Oh how awful. Hope you feel better soon!

We are totally considering an iPad. I'm thinking of getting personal hotspot/MiFi to 'tether' it to my cellphone/home network because I already have a work blackberry and an iphone. I'm not getting a third data plan!

I am looking at a 32g wifi one. Maybe the 64g. My iphone is 32g and I have so much room left on it with tons of applications and music. DH says we need the extra capacity for movies, etc. I think it will be just perfect for the cruise and keeping the kids occupied on the flight. ((and because I am a techie geek))

Hi Everyone,

Its been ages since I posted - for some reason I couldn't - every time I tried I got kicked off. I emptied the cookies etc but couldn't fix the problem and then I used my lap top instead and no problem.

Anyway I have read everything that has been going on and have laughed, teared up and shared the joys and sorrows. This thread is far more addictive than any TV show or even a good book. :happytv:

I was thinking about the powerpoint for husbands (mine could do with one too) if anyone is really tech savvy a iphone/ipad application giving day by day information would work. That way they wouldn't even have to tax their memory. :lmao:

You know I was just sitting here thinking about how lucky I feel at the moment. I have this great cruise to look forward to, with all kinds of interesting and great people from all around the world, I think I may have talked my mum into joining us and my husband is watering the lawn / kids out the back and their laughter is echoing all around. So much to be grateful for. :grouphug:

Anyway that's enough of that for now. It is great o finally be able to post again. For those of you who like traveling I will post some new photos from our recent travels to Oman and the UAE desert.

Time to feed the family now - so I'll talk to you all again soon.

:)michelle

Yes I hear that for sure. Part of the reason Jason and I get very nervous about seating with strangers is that on our first Disney cruise together (which was Jason's first cruise ever and my second cruise, but first on DCL), we got seated with two other couples without children----and somehow we got so "lucky" that we got seated with not one, but TWO couples who both had an obvious problem with be seating with a couple that was two men. One of those couples never came back to dinner after the first night. We aren't sure if they asked to switch seating or just ate on deck to avoid us. The other couple did come to dinner every night except their Palo night but they basically ignored us and made it clear they didn't want us to talk to them either-----so that was very uncomfortable for 4 nights and left us a little gunshy. On our next DCL cruise...we did get lucky and got seated with an amazing older couple who happened to have an adult son who also had a male partner so we got along with them great....and every cruise we've been on since then we've traveled with friends and/or family and been able to "stack" our tables!! :thumbsup2

Jason and I would definitely not mind linking up with folks who have late dining if we felt certain we were going to be eating with folks who were friendly and comfortable and nice----and if we were able to link with people who are also doing the B2B (like we are) that would even be a bonus!! :thumbsup2

Don't be so sure...you'll be surprised at how many kids there are in late dining. I think lots of parents find their kids enjoy the show better when they can go to the early show BEFORE dinner rather than trying to go to the late one after dinner when they may be more tired and stuff.

Those couples on your first DCL cruise missed out on a good time. You guys are great company.:)

I also have a MBP, just 15", but I want something more portable, but bigger than a iPhone, for work on the go. I switched to Apple about 2 years back, and am in the process of changing my business over, after several Windows laptops went kablooey with viruses and muck, despite our best efforts. Since then, I have had no issues. Too bad about the price of Mac, but replacing several pcs seemed no cheaper...

I was considering the larger one as well. but my IT guy talked me out if it. He said that with movies and books it is doubtful We would need anything that large. He was telling me that even if space was an issue and we had to delete a movie or book, we could upload it again free because it would be on our ITunes account. I am pleased to see that I am not the only one who thinks you should go big.

Welcome back. I agree, we all have so much to be thankful for and this cruise is certainly one of them. I am very excited about meeting folks from all over the world.

I really can't understand people who have a problem with people from other countries, cultures or with a different sexual orientation. I suppose I work in an office were we have just about as many nations represented as in the UN and for the most part, we all get on. I have also a lot of gay friends. For me there are precisely two types of people: nice people and not so nice people. Where they come from, what language they speak, whether they are black, white or purple with green spots and what their sexual orientation is simply does not matter to me.

Corinna

Very well said Corinna, I agree completely. :thumbsup2
I can't wait to be dining with fellow DISers. Plus I love to hear so many accents and maybe I'll learn to tell the difference between Australian and British accents. :duck: :lmao:

Oh, and as for the PP for DH's, I think it should be for non-planning spouses because I do all the DIS obsessing in our family. Maybe that's why things aren't very neat and organised though:confused3.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Some Brits have problems telling the difference between US and Australian accents!!!! Oh, and I know it is really a capital punishment offence, but big problems telling the difference between US and Canadian accents!:scared1::lmao:

Welcome Back Michelle - my saying about computers and how little I understand, is that cookies are best eaten!!!!

Sarah - congrats to your son. Keep us posted on his grades!!!!

Erik - from all these posts, you must see how much you are adored by all your Disfamily!!!! :grouphug:

Okay, I am back to the doctors for ANOTHER blood test and to sign papers to release my reports from my neurologist. UGH! I hate this, a long weekend and I won't be thinking about anything else. Why do doctors do this? Donna I know you understand and it just gets you unnerved. Now I am in a bad mood. Thanks for letting me vent!!

I know there was something I wanted to say about hooking reservations together to eat, but I forget right now. I will think of it.

for the latter just ask them to say about. If it sounds like "a boot" then they're canadian:rotfl2:

Hiya Michelle. Glad you're still with us

The Mini Navigator I'm making I'm hoping some nice person (Penny - PJPoohbear) is going to make it into a pdf so if you get the pdf viewer on the iphone/pad you will be able to use that and its got a day by day thingy included with all the group events and what nights what!

Madeira. Our friends booked with this company. I believe they booked the second tour(95Euros), but there seem to be plenty. They had 8 people, so i guess a mini bus????? This page is the cruise ship link. They really enjoyed it.

http://www.danielmadeirataxis.com./index.php?p=cs

This is a little posted by the lady who booked it on a thread.

In Madeira, I booked a group with Daniel, too. I was really impressed with them. I had lots of questions beforehand so, multiple emails. Eusebia was always very prompt and pleasant in answering them. The driver was very knowledgeable and took us to most of the same places DCL goes. They have very clean, newer, Mercedes (I think) vans. All of Madeira was very clean, too. They did a great job of cleaning up after the flood they had earlier this year. We did a 4-4.5 hour tour so we were back to the ship in plenty of time for dinner. They charge based on how big the van is. I think we had 8 and it ended up being 22 euros or so. I just gave 25. It was a great day!

At the very moment I started reading this, the news was making this announcement and talking about how the lines have been so ridiculously long!! It was freaky to read and hear nearly the same words at the same time. Have you gone yet?

Oh good! I look forward to checking them out!

Yes, I have been. They were obviously expecting a large amount of people wanting to buy the iPad as they had lines set up, but there seemed very little interest in buying. I did not get near enough to the tables where they had the demo iPads, but I am sure that I will get to have a proper look in a couple of weeks.

I so wish I could get the iPad right now , but it just doesnt replace my Macbook pro yet ....Once the iPad has a video cam (I skype alot ) and a little bit more then 64gigs then I am sold ...lol But without a doubt I am an apple guy ...with the MBP I also have the 24inch Imac and of course the 3GS iPhone ..Now I am waiting till June 7th for the announcement of the new iPhone which I am excited about the new design ...So for the cruise ill be bringing the MBP and me iPhone ...

pirate:

Oh, I did not even know that a new iPhone was coming out. I have to check this out. I am due an upgrade in the second half of July so that should work nicely.

Thanks for whoever suggested Sub 0 G baggage. I had a look at the time at the link and spotted that there is a stockist in the city centre. I decided to check it out today and they just happen to have a sale. So I ended up getting the carry on and the largest case. They are really so light.

"The newest Walt Disney Pictures theatrical release “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” debuts today onboard the Disney Wonder! First-run movies another Disney Cruise Line difference".

Just noticed this on FB!! Cant wait to see this movie. Any guesses as to what we might have on board? Seems a new move to have new released movies!

Just catching up on everyone's news.

I also tried to multi-quote but it didnt work! So please accept my summary thus..........

Congrats to those with good news..and hang on in there to those awaiting news/results/treatments etc.

Good luck with those at crucial planning stages..and hope we all get what we wish for as we all work hard towards our perfect cruise

And thanks so much to those who are investing so much time and energy into making our cruise such a fantastic community. It is a sure success already, so who only knows what we will end up with.......a rip roaring best cruise thread ever success to be sure!
