Eric and Jason - Funny, I went from DIS to Facebook and this is the latest update from one of my friends I was talking about.

Wishes the world would get over same sex couples being in love! Aren't there wars going on in the world killing innocent people? Bring back the old slogan 'Make Love not War!

Excellent! I just saw it! Glad you said something though because I would have blown the invite off thinking "I don't know this person who says I have a right to her opinion!" :rotfl:

I do like Stampin' Up! crafting and "stuff"! If you look on the Homemade FE Gifts thread, right there in Post #1 you'll see some familiar pirate SU! images. Actually, it might be in my "Crafty Things" photo Album on FB, too. I can't wait to see what you're crafting up!!! :goodvibes

Loved them, very similar idea to what my Dsis is doing. Thank goodness we are not in the same FE group. :thumbsup2

scottish, its so funny, we speak way to fast, I am better than the others in my family because I work in Edinburgh, If I spoke "fife" nobody would understand me.

hilarious quote from amaerican guy we met in a bar in cocoa beach.

"you guys are talking that scottish **** again":lmao::lmao:

I think we managed to understand you both ok, although you do have to concentrate a bit more. I had a good grounding as I shared a cabin with a girl from Glasgow when I worked for Princess and had to learn to understand her, which wasn't too difficult unless she was drunk or over-excited :rotfl:

;) sounds like all the different English accents and dialects we have over here too.....this will all be very interesting!:)

We will be a bit of a let down as although we are officially "Welsh" we don't have a strong Welsh accent in coastal North Wales, plus we both had mostly English parents. So I think we should be easy to understand ( correct me if you don't agree Lynne!)

So i'm going to sleep, and dream about that you all can speak dutch.:rotfl:

I love speaking with people from different cultures and will always make an effort to understand them and try and learn a few words. I am ashamed really that the English speaking nations almost expect everyone else to speak English.

Where are you from in Holland? I have visited there once when I was younger as my Grandfather is buried there in a war grave. I remember it being a beautiful country with lots of windmills and amazing scenery. We did a canal trip in Amsterdam and it was lovely.

Well, I don't know if we should sign up for linking our dining or not. We are late dining. Since we are on mountain time it's not as late for us. I thought this way I wouldn't have to change the kids schedule so much. Anyways, I doubt anyone else with little kids will be at this dining. So, not sure if anyone would want to sit with us?

There are families with children on late dining. If you want to link then send me a pm and I will add you to the list. There are also families who are happy to sit with children as you have seen.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I found out I going to have the MRI next Thursday. I hope to find out good new then, but i don't have my hopes ups.

Wishing you well for this and hope you have good news.

Yes I hear that for sure. Part of the reason Jason and I get very nervous about seating with strangers is that on our first Disney cruise together (which was Jason's first cruise ever and my second cruise, but first on DCL), we got seated with two other couples without children----and somehow we got so "lucky" that we got seated with not one, but TWO couples who both had an obvious problem with be seating with a couple that was two men. One of those couples never came back to dinner after the first night. We aren't sure if they asked to switch seating or just ate on deck to avoid us. The other couple did come to dinner every night except their Palo night but they basically ignored us and made it clear they didn't want us to talk to them either-----so that was very uncomfortable for 4 nights and left us a little gunshy. On our next DCL cruise...we did get lucky and got seated with an amazing older couple who happened to have an adult son who also had a male partner so we got along with them great....and every cruise we've been on since then we've traveled with friends and/or family and been able to "stack" our tables!! :thumbsup2

Jason and I would definitely not mind linking up with folks who have late dining if we felt certain we were going to be eating with folks who were friendly and comfortable and nice----and if we were able to link with people who are also doing the B2B (like we are) that would even be a bonus!! :thumbsup2

Some people are appalling and narrow-minded.:mad: I can't believe that in this day and age there are still idiots who behave like this. It was definitely their loss thats for sure.

I did something fun today gy tryint out one of the semi convertible Smart Carsl Even in the wind and rain, it was fun to drive. The shifting was a bit strange and I think my golf cart is bigger. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

What a cute car Noel .... I would be a bit scared to drive on a motorway in that tiny car with all the big traffic ... I am scared enough in a Zafira.:scared1:

Just wanted to share some good news ... my DS got accepted at college yesterday to study Media Production. He will start in September ( if he gets 5 high grade GCSE passes ). It is both my kids' dream to work in the movie industry and they would both love to work for Disney ..... nothing to do with being indoctrinated from birth I can assure you :rotfl:

Well done Sarah's DS!!!!! Sounds like he is well on the way to fulfilling his dream.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I found out I going to have the MRI next Thursday. I hope to find out good new then, but i don't have my hopes ups.

Well at least they are getting on to it quickly and you have lots of time for any treatment. But, I also hope the news is good!!

Squirt is for my future iPad, PS. love the nickname I think I will use it.

Ok, I made a vow to not touch an iPad until I bought my own, but my boss thought he would be a smarty pants and send me for the Apple training on the iPad, at the head office today. While they made me tap, flick, drag, slide and pick up that iPad :scared1: I headed back to the office, and he thought he was so funny. :sad2: Then at 6 pm store close, he made me do the iPad display table and the demo units set up, so I touched, flicked, swiped, and demo'ed for 2 hrs. I have been corrupted, I will not last til August. I want it now:snooty:

Pj

The iPad is finally released in the UK today. I intend to go to town later to have a look. That is of course if I can get anywhere near the Apple store. I am hoping to get one before the end of the year.

Congratulations to your son. I will keep my fingers crossed that he gets the GSCE results that he needs.

I really can't understand people who have a problem with people from other countries, cultures or with a different sexual orientation. I suppose I work in an office were we have just about as many nations represented as in the UN and for the most part, we all get on. I have also a lot of gay friends. For me there are precisely two types of people: nice people and not so nice people. Where they come from, what language they speak, whether they are black, white or purple with green spots and what their sexual orientation is simply does not matter to me.

We have fortunately always been lucky with our table mates on DCL. They have all been wonderful. The only bad experience that we had on NCL, where we were seated with very arrogant people one night. If I had to sit with them for the whole of the cruise, I would have asked to be reseated.

Corinna

Welcome back. We (as well as some others here) were on the same cruise, maybe we will all recognize each other. That way we will not be strangers.

What language do you speak?

When we took a cruise on Norweigen (it was our first and we learned quickly ;)) we had to sit with strangers. As I have said, I am shy at first. These folks were not nice at all and I barely spoke. Flash forward to the airport after the cruise. We were sitting behind them in the terminal and the woman was trash talking about me to another woman. I stood up so the friend could see I was staring and miss big mouth looked up at me and shut up. I learned quickly, that some people have no class and it is all about them. Had she not been so self absorbed, she would have seen I was either quiet or shy. I say, shame on those folks who treated you so poorly. I also believe what goes around comes around.

That's horrid!

I think its still worth linking! I'm sure there are a few with kids on the late seating aren't there?

I would actually love to meet someone who is purple with green spots, and ask them how they coordinate their wardrobe. :rotfl:

Not sure what that means? Care to translate:confused3

Oh Tut Tut is a great saying. It's basically what someone says when you are telling someone off in the UK, like when you mother might say "tut tut don't pull that face or the wind might change and youll stay that way". Its kind of a nice telling off really

Actually, so would I. This would make for an interesting conversation.

I am finally getting around to make my dinner reservations for our post cruise stay. So far I have gotten everything I wanted within 15 minutes of the time I want. So far I have booked breakfast and dinner at The Wave, breakfast at Ohana and dinner at Narcoossee's. I am also hoping for breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at Artist Point, Jiko and California Grill. I better get on with this.

Good luck for the scan, from the 'other' Reading! :)

and we are patient with the English.

Glad to hear that!:rotfl2::rotfl2::thumbsup2

Don't be so sure...you'll be surprised at how many kids there are in late dining. I think lots of parents find their kids enjoy the show better when they can go to the early show BEFORE dinner rather than trying to go to the late one after dinner when they may be more tired and stuff.

Erik & Jason, that was their loss. Sadly there are far too many ignorant people around. We look forward to meeting you both this cruise

Fantastic news Sarah, good luck for his exams!:woohoo:

Feeling sorry for myself today as I am full of hayfever. Eyes are watering like mad, and my head feels full of cotton wool (mind you that's nothing new! ;)).....the down side of summer I suppose :confused3

...so instead I shall count my many blessings! :)

Happy Friday everyone!:littleangel:

Poor you. Hayfever is not fun. Fortunately we are both having a good year so far. I react to tree pollen and DH to grass pollen, but apart from a couple of off days, we have been OK this year.

Corinna

Mandy, I posted on FB, but try one of these.

http://www.hay-band.co.uk/

I saw an article in a magazine about them. You can get them at Lloyds Pharmacy too so that would be quicker than sending for one.

Thanks!:)

I haven't been too bad til lately Corinna, but this week has been awful :(

Thanks to everyone's nice words and thoughts and encouragements.....it's always a little intimidating to "put yourself out there" to strangers in the virtual world....it's nice to see that once again we'll be cruising with such a great and friendly group of people!!

We are not on the B2B, but Joi and I would be willing to link dining with you. We have met some wonderful people that we were seated with and others that definitely had a problem. We are still friends with a family we were seated with in 2005. It is just the luck of the draw.

Donna

Erik, My husband and I would love to share a table with you and Jason as we are on the b2b. I do not know how to link dining ressies, so PM me so we can do this, it would be our pleasure to share a dining table with the both of you. Although we don't dress for dinner as well as you and Jason will, except on the formal and semiformal nights. I hope that will not have an impact on your decision to dine with us.

Nordkin & Cinderbear----we should definitely think more about linking up. I know Nordkin and her partner are only the WBTA portion, but maybe we could do a table for 4 on the Med and for 6 on the WBTA portion (and just ask that we get the same serving team for the duration as I always enjoy getting to know our servers and them getting to know us! Maybe we'll even find some others to link up with us as the cruise gets closer.

As far as HOW to link, it's easy, you just call DCL &/or your TA and give them the names of the party you want to be linked with. It's best to do it AFTER you've made your spa, palo, and excursion reservations though so it doesn't gum up the process (like if one cabin is gold and the other is silver, etc.).

And we don't care what other people wear to dinner :thumbsup2

Speaking of snazzy dressers....are you making new matching ties for these cruises, Erik?

There are a couple new ties...plus a bunch of ties you haven't seen yet because we wore them on cruises other than the Double Dip we did with you.....and there are several new formal sets, as well.

Your safe with us!
Funny story, We have some close family friends ( I kid her that bathing with me as a kid turned her Gay, :rotfl:) that got married (not legally) here a few months ago. It didn't even occur to me to explain to my 2 DD that it was 2 girls getting married. So we go to the wedding, the girls walk down the aisle and DD8 whispers to me "Mum, Is it a gay wedding", and I say "yes darling, it is", she has a little giggle and doesn't bring it up again (BTW, don't know where she'd even heard the word Gay? School!). Until....after school on Monday the teacher says to me "So, I heard you went to a wedding on the weekend, Thanks, I had to explain to the entire grade 2 class what gay was!". She's a great teacher and wasn't upset with me, just thought it was funny that my DD was so casual about her weekly Show and Tell story being a 'gay' wedding. :lmao:

that's a very cute story :lovestruc

....We are arriving on the 17th, just in case your anal like me and like to have all the little boxes filled on you beautiful spreadsheet! :thumbsup2....

How did you know?? :rotfl2:

Loved them, very similar idea to what my Dsis is doing. Thank goodness we are not in the same FE group. :thumbsup2

Thanks! If your DSis isn't on the boards, you'll have to ask her if you can post what she's made after we cruise, too! I just love seeing how creative people can get!

....I love speaking with people from different cultures and will always make an effort to understand them and try and learn a few words. I am ashamed really that the English speaking nations almost expect everyone else to speak English.....

:woohoo: You must be so proud, Sarah! Big congratulations for him!!!!

I also enjoy learning from others around the world. Sadly, I couldn't agree more that it's so shameful that English speaking nations almost expect others to speak English. Furthermore, if others don't speak English well, many criticize them, yet I haven't seen them try to learn another language and apply it to their daily life!

The iPad is finally released in the UK today. I intend to go to town later to have a look. That is of course if I can get anywhere near the Apple store. I am hoping to get one before the end of the year.....

At the very moment I started reading this, the news was making this announcement and talking about how the lines have been so ridiculously long!! It was freaky to read and hear nearly the same words at the same time. Have you gone yet?

....There are a couple new ties...plus a bunch of ties you haven't seen yet because we wore them on cruises other than the Double Dip we did with you.....and there are several new formal sets, as well.....

Oh good! I look forward to checking them out!
