I know you all have probably already discussed this, but how far in advance do you think we will find out about the number of formal nights? It looked like the EBTA folks had 2 formal and 3 semi-formal. Will it be about the same for us?

--Lynn

What we had depends on which publication you read. The cruise overview had 2 formal and 3 semi, but the navigator had 2 formal and 2 semi. People were VERY confused!

DCL told me 2 formal and 2 semi in advance, and that's how most people dressed--by the Navigator rather than the cruise overview. I got my info from a CM at the 120 day point.

And yes, it was definitely cold on the EBTA this year. Supposedly warmer than last year, but if you need to wrap in a blanket in the Cove Cafe, that's cold in my book! I spent a lot of time in the rainforest on those days!

Hi there!:thumbsup2 welcome aboard! Mark and I will be sailing too, we're from Reading in the UK.

Everytime you post you are from Reading, I am like you live nearby. As I live in Reading, Berks County, PA.;)

:worship:one bag?!! I'd never manage that! I'm stressing already about what clothes to pack...and we have months yet!:rotfl2:

We are each doing 1 bag and a carry on. We made it work for the Panama Canal cruise and since we are taking the train from airport to hotel, it will be necessary.

I will be married 41 years in June. My 5th grandson will be born in July. :goodvibes Thankfully my DH lets me have my love of Disney and doesn't complain when I go on vacation with Stepanie. My goal is to get him on a Disney cruise to Alaska next year. ;)

How did I miss that you are going to have another Grandson?? :confused3 Seriously proves how busy and out of it I am.

I hope you are all doing Wonderful.

Becky, I didn't post about until I was really sure since it will be Howie & Heather's third and giving her age, they were just a little concerned. Also since Guenna had had her fourth miscarriage, I didn't want to jinx them. Also when Steve married his bride, she had a little one who is just adorable and I do consider him as another grandson.

Three more posts...

Oh, we want to join the PIF club!! :woohoo:

-Lynn
:welcome: to the club!!!:goodvibes

Me also!! I have already had that celebration though, March 10

I think several of us are getting a lot of celebration mileage out of this one. We are celebrating our 43rd anniversary which is not until Oct 6, so we will celebrate again at Epcot after we disembark!

Oh and you might want to meet up with us Geezers and Geezers In Training (no acronym for our Brit friends!!)at the Cove Cafe at the end of the evenings. There should be some of us there most every night.
I love being a geezer. :goodvibes:goodvibesWe have designated walkers also, to help those of us who are doing loads of tastings. And the general drink-o-day. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Hi Becky!! And her son is sooo cute, he looks just like the other boys. Plus now Terry will have more grandkids than me. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I am extra excited now. Now I need to figure out how many bags I'm going to take.

And if I need an iPad now that I have a netbook. It is 2.75 pounds. An iPad is 1.5 pound. My iPhone is .5 pound, and it fits in my pocket. I go nowhere without it.

Okay, so what should I do??? iPad, just my netbook and iPhone or iPad and netbook???

Has anyone skyped from the ship??? The netbook does have a webcam..popcorn::

Good morning ..... my last shift in work today before the weekend ..... and meeting Lynne and Len ...... we are so excited. :yay: Although a bit worried about DS Dan ( the one with glandular fever) as he seems a bit under the weather again :sad2:

We're joining you all for this cruise! We're arriving in Barcelona Thursday before the cruise, and staying at Le Meridien. Looking forward to the cruise and meeting all of you!

:welcome: aboard. We are Sarah and Tony from Wales .... looking forward to our second cruise :yay:

My John would be delighted with restrictions!!! We have to do this cruise with 4 x 23 kg. I am sure I can do it as we will have not heavier winter clothes, and lots of lighter clothes. However, once I know a bag is under the weight limit, I look for something else to pop in, just in case!!!:lmao:

We are having to make do with 1 bag of 20kg each for our outbound flight to Barcelona ..... with Easyjet. You can only buy extra kg for excess baggage, and maybe we will end up having to do that. I will be looking to mix and match outfits and looking for very lightweight dresses for semi formal and formal.

Oh i'm torn to pay off just before the election... or wait till final payment day in the hope there's another surge in exchange rate...

But what if there's a hung parliment as many papers are suggesting how will that affect the ££££???

Gosh i wish i understood politics :rotfl:

SW

Me too ... I don't know whether to PIF before the election or after. Whatever I decide will end up being the "wrong" decision I'm sure. :confused3

Hi everyone

Just doing my twice weekly (or so!) catch up!
Hope everyone is ok

Great to see some pre cruise meets happening :thumbsup2 Anyone else near the UK Midlands??

Am getting a little concerned now that its getting closer :yay: woo hoo 143 days! and all of a sudden there seems such a lot to do in preparation for this cruise. Especially in relation to the packing within the airline weight limits issue and what to do when in the Ports. better get reading...:surfweb:!

Lyn

Lucky devil! I'm off most of next week as doing a mini cruise (Cardiff to Southampton) with my Mum & Sister so can't wait! Then 2 days in work and 2 weeks off to study for my exams! Oh joy!
Sounds nice Sarah.

That should be a very nice couple of days. enjoy it.
4 x 23 !! lucky devil
Im living in hope the hung parliment wont be as bad as they are predicting! Fingers crossed!
Nothing is ever as bad as they predict. Dollar went down o/n, I am obsesive currancy watcher. I have a card that I load with dollars when its good.
I read this thread at least twice a day and I`m sorry for being such an infrequent poster - but as I`ve nothing useful to add......
Anyway excellent news for us this evening - we have got our flights booked :worship:

This next bit is boring so you may want to skip it.
I`ve been checking my emails every 15 minutes or so today as I requested a quote from DU about the Baltic cruises. DD22 will have her final exam results in June - so good or bad she is thinking of travelling to Cuba to explore for a few weeks. Though she was also thinking of the cruise. I know which I`d prefer her to do! I would do the Baltic cruise with her ;)
Anyway I noticed an email from Virgin Atlantic with a rewards seat sale, after an hour or so either on the phone or on the internet buying extra miles, we have our seats booked for less than £300 for two of us  I am so chuffed.

I`ll slink back to lurkdom for awhile :goodvibes
Good luck with baltic cruise.
What else can I tell you all about us? Our oldest daughter, who went through the Disney College Program awhile back, just got an advanced internship with Disney. We're very excited for her! Usually, we vacation with the children (DD25, DS20, and DD13), but it's more difficult now that they are older. And since we've developed a love of cruising, we go alone now! So, it is just me and DH this trip!

We'd like to sign up for all the tastings!

-Lynn

Us too, we usually have dn with us but this time I cant wait to try serenity bay:cloud9:

Angel sarah, we too have poor baggage allowance, we are going to use our hand luggage to the limit, were allowed 10kgs both way and 20 in suitcase, so we are taking liitle carry on suitcases and we will transfer the contents into the big cases and fill with wine for cruise:rolleyes1

I am planning to use disney shampoo and stuff, are you buying suntan lotion to take or buying it in spain.
What about you guys?
For you transatlantic experts......... Do you think they will run out of shampoo and stuff or will they have plenty.

Marilyn - prices have dropped big style since booking day!

I don't think the verandah staterooms have been reduced. I would have panic attacks in an inside room.:scared1:

Glandular fever can be such an ongoing debilitating illness at just the wrong time of life. I hope he recovers soon.

Mix and match is the way to go. Capsule wardrobe and all that!!!! I would love to go out with an empty credit card and buy a whole load of matching clothes all at once as I am terrible for just getting something that actually fits and looks ok, but doesn't match anything!!!:lmao:

From Mrs Gumdrop on the April 10 2010 Disney Magic EBTA "Bound for Barcelona" thread:

To all our beloved WB lurkers....

Here is the general schedule we were given at the begining of the cruise. Some of the attire requirements and times shifted a bit, but I hope this is helpful.

See the link here https://doc-0g-9s-docs.googleuserco...QtMWM2Zi00NTNjLTk1ZDEtZTJjODFjMWE2N2M4?e=open

I will do a more general post on the main thread when we gather some more media from this trip.

Thanks, getting excited! :thumbsup2

OK I am feeling so behind everyone! Waiting until after Election day to pay off the cruise! Holding out as long as possible!

Doesn't matter when you pay, as long as you get on the ship!!! :cool1:

I'm flying to BRC with BA too.

Do you mind me asking how much that extra bag allowance is costing you?

I think i might need to add one too.

SW

we're flying with BA too, When is everyone flying in? We are Friday morning. ;)

:worship:one bag?!! I'd never manage that! I'm stressing already about what clothes to pack...and we have months yet!

Stressing is an understatement!!! I can't buy summer stuff here now as we are going into WInter. And I don't know what I'm taking......whatever will fit in the suitcase I suppose! :confused3

Sign us up for the PIF club!! Feels so good to have it done! So the only things left to do are decide on excursions and book them and then PACK!!!

Wohoo!!!

YAY, Welcome!!! Hey Sue, Looks like it was a good idea to wait for the FE until PIF date as we have a steady stream of newbies lately, :thumbsup2

That is all true of course. I had forgotten those 5 days between the warm Med and the hot Caribbean!!!

I'm going to layer. I can't face the thought of taking a fleece.:lmao:

Def, Layer upon layer upon layer if need be, no fleece for me, too bulky! :goodvibes

Hey, I never have anything interesting or intelligent to add, but I put my 2 cent worth in anyway, It part of the fun leading up to the cruise, Join in!;)

We booked this cruise as well the first day it came out. I think at one point the cost was going to be £9000 for three in an inside stateroom :lmao:
The £ dropped against the $ and DH said I was barking to even consider it. So it was cancelled.
Anyway I read of the latest price drop and DD suggested we do it - so I`m off to book. $3,370 with $325 on board credit. It would be rude not to :rotfl2:

It would have been practically illegal to not go!!!:rotfl:

We will be celebrating my DH's 50th birthday on this cruise! Don't tell him I told you! It's not until December, but I have to get mileage out of an expenditure like this one!

--Lynn

Good on you, we are celebrating DD's 8th birthday, it is a couple of days before we set sail! :thumbsup2

I love being a geezer. :goodvibes:goodvibesWe have designated walkers also, to help those of us who are doing loads of tastings. And the general drink-o-day. :goodvibes:goodvibes
As a 33 year old non-drinker (well, maybe a couple of cocktails), I qualify as a Geezer in trainer and a designated walker! ;)

I think we can email DCL about a month in advance. On the 2007 TAs we had less than this (1 formal and 2 semi on the one and 2 formal 1 semi on the other)

I would mention, net access on the TA's in 2007 was atrocious! My sister tried to email her hubby most nights and got no where

Sarah - have a fab time! Wish I was coming but what with the mini cruise next week and work I just couldn't justify it (and £100 on trian seemed mad)! Im sure it will be fab though and I want all the gossip when you get home.

Im definately doing the Disney shampoo and haven't told Dan yet but were sharing Deodrant lol!

They did not run out of any shampoo things onboard! In fact our stateroom host gave us new shampoo 3 times a day!

Were flying on the 7:10pm flight on the Friday as Dan doesn't have much leave so trying to limit how much we need.

And as you can all tell from my multiple posts I still have no multipost button! Yesterday the button appeared when in work but didn't work at all and today all I have is the quote button or Post Reply! I'm so confused lol
