Hello everyone

New to the Dis board! Have booked today for the transatlantic cruise from Barcelona. Me - Sarah and Mum Liz:banana: got a great price and we are so looking forward to it.

Second cruise, first Disney last June/July 7 nights on the Magic in the Caribbean to celebrate Mum's 60th Birthday with my sister.

We arrive in barcelona on the Friday and plan to take a bus tour in the afternoon so we see something of the city.

See you all there:yay:

Woo...more Brits :wave2:
I was born in Manchester, lived there until 17 yrs and still have rels there. Welcome and nice to meet you!

Well, we finally took the plunge today and booked trans flights home on Sat 9th Oct. We are using Aer Lingus via Dublin, but it will mean we get home to Birmingham, so less travel costs onwards to home than if we had flown to Manchester or London. Hopefully DS will pick us up! Its ok if our car is left at airport, but this one way trip is a little more awkward to sort. We got the flights for £374:75 each in the end, which I am happy with. Even if any of the other airlines have a sale, it will likely not be Birmingham. Virgin only fly to London/Manchester. I tried all combinations via New york, via everywhere. But this direct to Dublin and then to BHX seems best option for us.
Not sure re Aer Lingus..but hey...it cant be any worse than some of the charter flights to Sanford we endured in the early years of Disney visits.

Very cool. Some of the girls (Lynne and Sarah) are going to Mousemeets in May in Manchester - its a conference thingy for Disney fans. I was meant to go but have had to cancel due to costs of getting from here.

On the last TA's there weren't many brits at all. We've got a fair few on this one.

Whats this Mousemeet in Manchester?
Lyn

PS, how do you do the multiple quote thingy? I cant seem to sort it out?

Hey there everyone! Sorry I've been gone from the boards for about two weeks. It's been more hectic than normal lately, which isn't saying much, but it is hectic. For instance, as I type, for the second time this week, people are here taking care of the sewage back-up in my basement. UGH! If it's not one thing, it's another!

Sooooo....with that said, I will make it my mission this week to catch up and get an update Barcelona Hotel/Apartment Roll Call List up on Post #4. I promise! :)

Welcome to all the new cruisers! I'm so happy you're joining us!!

Awhile ago, I was reading through today's newspaper, and I saw a sad picture from Octavio Passos/Associated Press of a man being pulled from the flash flooding in Funchal, Madeira yesterday. The caption states that 32 have died. :sad1:

On a lighter note, I took some "vacation" time and went to Cincinnati, Ohio Thursday and Friday to spend some time with a friend. I had never been to the Newport (KY) Aquarium, so I decided to check that out. It was okay....not worth the cost of admission IMO, but I'm glad I experienced it.

Additionally, I went to Jungle Jim's International Market. I had seen it featured on the Food Network years ago, so I thought "What the heck....I have nothing better to do!" Portions of it are kind of corny, but WOW do they ever have a variety of international food and produce (and delicious baklava)! There were so many countries represented there with imported foods. Was it Paula who had previously spoken of Tim Tams? Well I saw those in various flavors and thought of all of you since we had chatted about them!! We have a lot of ethnic grocers here in Columbus, so the frozen and canned foods weren't too unusual to me, but I was AMAZED at the foreign produce! Many interesting vegetables and fruits! At the time, I was too intimated to try any! I regret not buying some now.

Make it a great week everyone!

PS: MOUSE UPDATE: The mouse must have left the car on his own will because there's been no more evidence of the critter...thank God! :rotfl2:

OMG Kimberly! I've always wanted to go to Jungle Jim's as does Dave!!! I'm so jealous!

Well, we finally took the plunge today and booked trans flights home on Sat 9th Oct.

Do we count as adopted Brits since Canada still considers it's head of state to be the Queen? ;)

Guess we better get our flights to the UK figured out:) Come on seat sales.

PS, how do you do the multiple quote thingy? I cant seem to sort it out?

In the bottom corner of the posts should be another button beside the quote button. If you click on it then it should change from a "+" to a "-". This means that you have added that post as a quote and you can select more posts to quote. When you select the last post you want to quote, click on the "quote" button as you would normally.

But, by doing this we reduce our chances of getting to Part 5 :lmao:

hi,

thanks for the heads up re the room rates at the marriott, i have rebooked for the two cruises we are doing and saved €50 total - not bad! I know they do transfers to the port, but not managed to work out how to do that - i did mail the hotel but no response.

There seem to be lots of cabins left for the Sept.8th Med Cruise... just checked the cost of both the WB and Med - the costs now are now less than what I booked for on the first day... Have other people rebooked? We do have the $100 OBC for the Med. - but don't think we were sent the OBC for the WB.

PS: MOUSE UPDATE: The mouse must have left the car on his own will because there's been no more evidence of the critter...thank God! :rotfl2:

Hey Kimberly - Glad that you are well and were just on vacation! Also glad to hear that the mouse didn't stick around.

Hows the job search going?

Sue

He needs to get a life. We've done several long disney cruises and must admit that you hardly ever see the kids as they are having so much fun in their clubs.

I am certain that my kids will have fun. Stephen will live in Ocen Quest, or at the pool. Rebecca will hopefully make a friend in the club and have more fun than this last cruise. That sounds bad - she did have fun, she is just so shy that the clubs were hard for her. The counselors were great though and they spent as much one on one time with her as possible. Once she kinds someone to hang with, she is good to go. We are hoping that she is better this next cruise, especially with kindergarten under her belt... :) That way Mom and Dad can have some quiet cove time... She swears she will go to the clubs, so we shall see...

As for my new boss... Well, he reports to my old boss (we did some re organizing) so I still have an in... And, yes, he is a jerk that needs to get a life...

Hey everyone! As you know we are struggling with the website still... Poor Glenn is going to have to endure a long call with them tonight to get it all sorted out... :surfweb:

Once that is done I will get the latest update in the FE exchange, and see if we have enough to get some of the groupings put together.

I will get an update posted later this week!

Do you show Annette(acourtwdw) and I on the list. If not will you please add us. It is just the two of us and we love doing the exchange. On our last cruise we had 69 people with 25 rooms.

Has anyone thought of doing a group rate for the one way to BCN. I know when we first booked the cruise some were talking about it out of new york, with aer lingus you just need 7 people. I was pricing airfare today and i thing it has jumped considerably. When we were pricing it last fall it was about 300pp now i cant find it for less than 400 pp
cant wait to meet everyone

Got my letter today! Had already been told I was getting the OBC, but nice to have the confirmation letter.
So for those of you who are trying to work it out (good luck!) -
We booked and paid in full on Oct 20th 2009, we are in cat 10GTY, there are 4 of us (2A and 2C), we live in Australia, It is our first cruise. Hope that helps!
Sending out pixie dust for more letters pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Kids??? You mean there are kids on the ship??? Where??? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Amanda that is a great idea about group rate flights....we are still looking for ways to cut costs since we have 4 tickets to buy! Cannot wait to cruise with you guys again!!!!!

Okay, it is snowing again......this trip cannot come fast enough! And I am so excited about the upgrades being done to Castaway Cay, cannot wait for the slide. Should be fine after a few buckets of beer! LOL!:rotfl:

Flying out of JFK on 16th, anyone else doing the same day interested in booking group on Aer Lingus, I have been looking at the flight that arrives at 10:10am.

I checked the pricing for a group and there is no savings per person.

Thats a great price .... better than what we got, and ours are non-refundable so we're stuck with them  I was so desperate to book after the Globespan mess but really I shoud have waited.

Whats this Mousemeet in Manchester?
Lyn

Its a Disney convention ... the first of it's kind in the UK .... being organised by www.disneybrit.com and there is a website www.mousemeets.com.

The original batch of tickets sold out like wildfire, but I think there are more available now, with some people not being able to go and they released some charity tickets. It is on the 1st (evening only) and 2nd May in the Crowne Plaza in Manchester.

Do we count as adopted Brits since Canada still considers it's head of state to be the Queen? ;)

Jon

Are you sure you REALLY sure want to be associated with us Brits ..... :rotfl:

Will find the info on Mousemeets when I get home I promise
