Ok, this will sound weird... But... Do any of you EU folks shop at ASDA? They are one of our customers and people from the states that have gone to our Stokenchurch office rave about them. They are the UK counterpart of Walmart. I am curious what there is to rave about and if I need to try and find one on the trip.

Funny, I am interested in seeing their stores (we do their warehouse management and labour) and have no desire to meet with the PepsiCo people that are in Barcelona... Of course, If I can turn part of the trip into business I think I can get a rebate on my airfare and hotel... Hmmm.... MIGHT be worth considering...

I live about 4 minutes walk from my local ASDA. All its TV ad's in the UK focus on how it's the lowest price of the big 4 brands. Recently it's also been also been advertising it's clothing which now comes with a 100 day quality guarantee.

Well the campaign must be working as i'm going to the BIG one on the other side of town tomorrow to check out the clothing range. I've bought clothing there before but for low cost clothing in the UK the mighty PRIMARK rules supreme!

hhhhmmmm .... I figure that might happen. There are quite a few Disney Hotels I fancy staying at ... most of them in fact :goodvibes This could be the point of no return :rotfl:

Yes, I am far from through my list of places I want to stay and I am just limiting myself to DVC resorts. I think Wilderness Lodge would be next, but then again I absolutely loved Animal Kingdom Lodge and would love to stay their longer. Boardwalk and Beach Club also really appeal. The only one that I am not really interested in is Saratoga Springs.

Next year we are having a break from Orlando and are heading for the West Coast. We are really hoping to stay at the DVC resort at the Grand Californian for at least for some of our time on dry land. Of course, we have a date with the Wonder as well

Since we're talking about hotels after the cruise, we'll be headed to BWV for one night after the cruise... off to enjoy the Food & Wine. I hate wishing the summer away, but I really want to be cruising right this minute...:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I know Saratoga Springs gets a bad rap sometimes, but we really enjoy it there. Very relaxing and just a short walk to DTD. For longer stays where you aren't running to parks everyday it really is great. Quiet, peaceful.

And the Grand Californian is really nice!! Loved it in the villas much more than in the hotel.

This is really kind of you. I did send you a PM, but then checked the rules and you can only use one per month per party, so I would assume that is based on your address. So if you are uing one after the cruise I don't think it would work for anyone else. I may have it wrong though :confused3

There doesn't seem to be a limit on purchasing, only redeeming. We live in Orlando, so we won't be headed to WDW after the cruise anyway.

The discount expires on 3/22, so if anyone else is interested, let me know this weekend.

If you'd like to sign up for the candy bar swap, PM me or post - I try to read all messages.

I'm thinking that most people sound to be interested in chocolate bars rather than other candy so any thoughts on whether we allow both or go with just chocolate?

I have noted the following people that maybe interested in this (some may have just said it sounded like fun though rather than actually wanting to participate) - please let me know if you are a definite yes or no - also the number of people participating in your group.

I'm thinking that if each person/group brings say a dozen small candy bars to swap? I guess it may depend on numbers of people interested - I'm open to ideas. We can either have a meet to swap or a FE drop (assuming everyone has a FE?).

a few weeks ago the question was asked about a fond memory about WDW. This is a long post but it shows a first visit and how it turned me into a complete Disney lover.

My thanks to Mario and his magic with a simple watch band

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On Sunday September 25, 2005 My friend Steffy and I started out second day with a wonderful breakfast at Chef Mickeys. We did the napkin twirl. Took pictures of our food, the characters and bought the Special Picture package. Then we went to Epcot and out front saw characters and got pictures. We then headed to ride Soaring. I am a mush and cry all the time. The ride was so intense I cried the whole time. We immediately got fast passes and went on my crusade for a watch strap.

I have had this Tinkerbell watch that my children bought me for my 50th birthday. I have worn it every day. I even wore it to oldest DS's and DD's weddings. After 5 years, the band was getting very worn and I was afraid I would lose it during our trip.

We went into Mouse Gears and I went up to Cast Member Mario and asked him if he had any watch bands. I explained my problem and that I had spent about 4 months looking for a band with no luck. He at first was not sure he could help me. I told him that I would take any band, even with gold closures instead of silver.

He went in the back and came out with a box of old watches, bands and other things you would find in a local jewelry store. After looking at the bands, SURPRISE he found a black one and it really looked like it would fit. Then he goes in the back again and came out with a box of tools and I swear he brought out a jewelers light. He proceeded to take it apart, sometimes having trouble because of 5 years of my wearing it every day, it had a mind of its own.

By time he was done, I was crying because I was so very happy. I asked him if his manager was there so I could tell him about what had happened. We went in search of Brad and found him and as I was starting to tell him about Mario's kindness, of course I was crying again. Brad and Kristen were very moved by my story and then they noticed our birthday pins. We were given birthday wishes and even received a Birthday Call from Goofy We asked Brad about finding a backpack with a pocket for our cell phone. He said not with Tinkerbell but when he showed me the one with Mickey, I decided to buy it. We had a few other purchases and asked if they could be delivered to our resort along with our Chef Mickey pictures. We thanked everyone again and went off to ride Test Track and Soaring again. This time I didn't cry but really enjoyed all the things I missed the first time I rode it.

Fast forward two days and after a very loooonnnng day, we picked up our purchases and took them back to the room. I was getting things ready to go do laundry and we noticed the bag was a little heavier and looked in it and saw that they had put our Chef Mickey pictures in frames. Well, the tears flowed again and I finally went to do the laundry. Ten minutes later my cell phone rang and it was Steffy asking what I was doing. I told her I was waiting to put in the fabric softener. Next thing I know she is there with a card, two kleenex and she told me that she could not cry alone. Brad, Kristen and Mario had signed a birthday card, given us Tinkerbell birthday pins and on the back of his business card he wrote, "Hope you will not mind that we put your pictures in frames to really remember your day."

After crying some more, we really took the time to look at the pins, frames and the card. I made sure that I wrote an email to Brad thanking him for everyone's kindness. That was the best pixie dust one could ever receive.

Thanks Terry & Stephanie
Wheres my tissues? Another reason we all love disney.

For anyone who planned to stay at the Praktik Rambla but hasn't booked yet, double twin rooms are now sold out. Looks like I'll be back to the drawing board in my search for a Barcelona hotel! :sad2:
We got our hotel on priceline $100 for Avenida Palace it is a 4star hotel.

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

We have just made a decision (finally) and booked one night at Port Orleans French Quarter for our one night in Orlando after the cruise. This will be our first time staying on property at WDW and we are so excited.

:dance3::dance3::dance3:
We've staayed here and loved it.

DVC!! :thumbsup2

We like ssr for long stays at the parks and we just need down time. Our favorite is bcv becuase we spend alot of time at epcot

Also add us to the stateroom tour- were in a gty cat 6

Thanks to everyone for the welcome! We are staying at the Marriott Airport beforehand. We had points so our night is free. Has anyone planned or thought about excursions yet? Since we have little ones just trying to see what we can do with them.

Hi there, and welcome! I missed the post about how young your little ones are. We'll have DD3 and DS6 with us and are staying at the airport Marriott (Renaissance) as well the 2 nights before the cruise.

We have a DD who will have just turned 4 by the cruise and a DS who will be 21 months. People think we are crazy for taking them this young. This is Emma's 2nd cruise. She loved the first one soo much! We fly in at 9am on Friday morning. Are you all staying in one room there?

Are you a member of the DVC Corinna? I am really going to have to start looking into this to see if it is worth it for us. I am hoping to go to the West Coast in 2012 .... it will be our 10th Wedding Anniversary and I would love to do the ABD Backstage Magic Tour.

Since we're talking about hotels after the cruise, we'll be headed to BWV for one night after the cruise... off to enjoy the Food & Wine. I hate wishing the summer away, but I really want to be cruising right this minute...:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I must admit I debated long and hard about Epcot for Food and Wine or Magic Kingdom, and at the moment we are still leaning towards Magic Kingdom and still hoping for MNSSHP on the Saturday night :wizard: As much as I would love strolling around the World Showcase and having a relaxing evening, I know I would feel cheated if I went to WDW and didn't visit my favourite park .... Magic Kingdom. So many parks, so little time. Not to worry, we hope to be back to WDW in 2011.

I think this may be our future :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks such a lot for doing this. I have been checkin out the House of Blues menu and it looks very promising. has anyone ever eaten there?

Is that the renaissance? Theres a few of us staying there too.

I did not really rate the Tequilla tasting. The Tequilla was nice, but the guy who did it nearly sent us to sleep. I loved the Martini tasting though, which was both educational and great fun. I am planning to do this again on my Med cruise

The tequilla was horrible.

Yep...I do my weekly grocery shopping there. Love it.

That might work but some cabins would fight over the candy - I know we would :) ITS MINE, ALL MINE!

Oh the stress of organising these events :rotfl:

Gotcha on the list too.

Maybe if it's done like a FE, each person in the cabin that wants to participate should sign up, therefore recieving a choc each, and all giving choc too, does that make sense? The we can break into groups of 25 people, or whatever?

Yep count me in. I'm all for a general candy exchange, because some people may have some interesting non chocolate candy that isn't available everywhere. Why not :confused3

The UK has some yummy strawberry bon bon ball things, they are covered in a sherbet kind of sugary coating, so good! We have a hard time finding them here! And the USA has those fruit things in the box, is it juju fruits, yum! I'd be in for both, either way! ;)

I like the idea of non-chocolate being included only because although I do eat chocolate I like normal sweeties too.

I also eat anything bad for me, only on holiday, everyone know holiday food doesn't contain any calories!:lmao:

We are staying here, will be brand new and clean, and is pretty good price -

Sarah, you will love it. Make sure you have the beignets, they are so good! And the MNSSHP is great fun, fingers crossed it's on the Saturday night for you. We went back in 2008 and had a blast. :goodvibes
