Well, my day has gone from bad to worse. It all started when I got to work and found out that our call recording software has yet again gone up the creek. This is the last month of the quarter as far as the quarterly bonus is concerned, which will be paid out in October. We have until October 7th to hand this in for our teams, but of course I will be at Cozumel that day. So I agreed with my boss that I will hand it in on September 29th and just use data up to September 28th. A large part of the scheme is call quality and I have to monitor 10 calls for each of my 15 team members. For that I get 2 days each month (or that's the plan anyway). In July, I had my days of the floor and the system that we use was down. Not a problem, I had to do some one to ones anyway and there were a number of meetings that I had to schedule. In August my days were re-scheduled due to staff shortages and the new dates were in September. So I finally had my days off the floor and 3 out of 4 days were taken up for the most part with One to Ones, appraisals and meetings. I finally had a whole day to do my call monitoring only to be told half way through that our quality officer had not realised that I was down to monitor calls that day and the engineer was in to fix some bugs on the call recording system. They had to take it down. Unfortunately it still has not come back up. Somehow I managed to do all but the calls of one team member. Eternal optimist that I am, I figured: No problem, I still have two hours off the floor on Tuesday. I do life call monitoring then for the last few calls. Then I read my emails and the person in question had a family emergency and had to go back home on very short notice and won't be back until I am already on vacation
The rest of the day ticked along quite nicely and I was looking forward to getting home, have a Pear Cider, put Angels and Demons on and work on my FE gifts. All seemed to go well until one of my new staff picked a call up with 30 minutes to go where a customer was upset that their seating had been changed. They somehow managed to allocate themselves bassinet positions even though they have no infant and then got upset because they were moved when the seating was needed for a family with infants. Once I realized that my team member had a hard time with the customer and it was home time, I took over the call. The customers argued with me for a further hour. We don't get paid overtime either.
I had forgotten my cellphone at home and DH is away on business. When I got home, I was just about to ring him when I saw that he had texted me 15 minutes earlier that he was heading for bed. So I did not want to risk waking him up.
So instead I head on here and realize that the Panama Canal Cruise that we had set our heart on is just more expensive then what we are willing to pay. Not only that, but the other possible cruises are silly prices as well apart from the Transatlantics, but after doing two of those in 2010, I don't think we need to do another one in 2011. Where is that banging your head against the wall smiley when you need it?
Not all was bad though. DH's embarkation t shirt arrived today in record time. I suddenly got a text at 1:00 am from DH that he cannot sleep. As I am in the same position, I gave him a call back straight away. We both decided that the Panama Canal Cruise is really not an option, but we are now considering doing a back to back Caribbean Cruise over our 13th anniversary in 2011. We should have enough DVC points to pay for one cruise on points and will pay for the other. DH has also promised me that if we are on the Magic on our 13th anniversary (we got married on a Friday 13th), we will renew our wedding vows. That is definitely something to look forward to. So I suppose all is well that ends well.
