Tony has the idea of getting up to watch the Disney Magic arrive in port - so a hotel very close to the port would be ideal for us - whether this idea is feasible remains to be seen, as I have no idea what time she is likely to arrive.

Another question - is the port itself close to the city of Barcelona?

Yes it is within walking distance (say 5 mins) of Las Rambles to the entrance to the port but the stop it pulls into is further back from the port.

Also although the Magic is overnighting in Barcelona it may pull out at night and park up (not 100% sure) in the water around Barcelona

Not a 3/ 4 night split and not on DCL either, but we did a back to back cruise on NCL in May combining a 5 night and a 2 night. Unfortunately our cruises on DCL last year do not quite qualify as back to back as we had one night on dry land in between. We did the 5 night special cruise on the Magic, spent one night at the Radisson by the Port and then got on the Wonder for a 4 nighter the next day.

That is really horrible. At least I knew everybody who attended. With us it was more that there were a lot of people of whom I know that they couldn't care less about me and the feeling is kind of mutual. In my case, my parents paid for the reception so I had to humour them. My sister is paying for everything herself so I am not sure why she is putting up with having the guest list dictated to her.

That's a good point. We were lucky enough to stay at a hotel right by the port when we cheated on the Mouse Boats in May. Our room overlooked the berth where our ship docked. There is a certain danger with that though. ;) Neither of us slept much for most of the night. It was only once the ship at arrived and we had our first glimpse of it that we then slept like logs.

Sounds fab

Hi all!

Our wedding planning is going well - I can't imagine planning for 200 people though! I found a decent wine at a very good price right now and I am trying to convince DP that buying our wine 4.5 months in advance at 20-30% off is a good idea. We don't see a lot of wine sales with discounts that deep very often. DP feels at a loss because he doesn't know a lot about wines and he doesn't want to get crap. Anyone out there savvy about Ontario wines that can help?

We are on the waitlist for the prestays too (whether we end up booking that way or not, who knows). The DCL rep said to expect more slots to open up. I think they book just a small amount at first, then negotiate for more later if the demand warrants, otherwise they could be holding many more rooms than they need at a financial loss.

Wishing I was on the cruise now (and 20 lbs lighter and rich!),

Have a great time Karen but i am probably too late, I dont do camping either unless I have the closest hilton on my speed dial.[/QUOTE

I am on there with you Lynne about the hotel and no more camping. Some how my daughter convinced me to go with her and DH.

Well the man survives death 6 to 8 times a day but can't even go camping for 24 hours without having to get 9 stitches. Here is how he puts it:

Thank you all for the good wishes.
I am quickly on the mend, Turns out, we went camping in the mountains of SLC and had a great night about 11 am the next morning, Kenzie and I went for a walk around the site, she took her Razor scooter, and I walked alongside, we came to a section that was a little down hill and before going there, I made sure kenzie knew how to use the brakes, and that they were working good.
well we go down the street, and kenzie just starts haulin *** down this not very steep hill, Im running full speed to keep up with her yelling brakes! brakes! brakes!, which she did not use at all!.
all of a sudden she starts to wobble and I can tell she's about to eat it so I reached out and grabbed her shoulder just as she starts to go down,
down we both tumble at full running speed as I tried to roll and take the brunt of the hit. we skid to a stop and she's yelling owie , owie owie.
I get up totally freaked out and start checking her over, she had a little scratch on the chin and that's all I could see.
As im looking her over to make sure she's ok, she said to me,
"daddy, you're bleeding!" and points at my lower leg, which has about a 1 inch c shaped gash with skin hanging off of it, Funny, I hadn't even noticed, or felt it, in my rush to make sure she was ok.
so as blood is running down my leg, I very calmly tell her, Kenzie, Daddy needs a doctor, and we start hobbling down the 300 or so yards back to the campsite.
once we get there , I head straight for the first aid kit and tell kenzie.
"tell mom to come here please"
turns out she dove full speed into the tent yelling, "mommy mommy, daddy's hurt and he's gonna die!" (it did look kinda gnarly)
as im putting on a bandage and getting the car ready for the trip down the mountain, Karen comes running up to see whats going on, I opened the bandage to show her and she turned an all together, different kinda white.
"mind if you drive?" is all I could get out.
She did a heck of a good job getting us all safely, but quickly down the mountain and into the ER. I did have to tell her to slow down a couple of times as our Isuzu Rodeo has the Handling capabilities of the titanic.
I remember asking her to please not wreck the car on the way to the ER.
When we finally got there, Karen did an awesome job of checking me in while I tried to calm Kenzie down, she was pretty spooked, but a little trooper.
2 hours later I was the proud owner of the first 9 stitches IN MY LIFE.
so naturally, my next thought was, "who's hungry?".. It was after all, well past lunchtime.
There was a Red Lobster right down the street and I got to choose it!
as we were all there looking at the menu trying to calm down from our very exiting day it came to me in a flash, and I promptly announced.
"new family tradition! any day you get stitches, you get to order a whole lobster dinner!."
and there you have the lobster after stitches pictures.
I am feeling better and my 2 girls are taking really good care of me.
Kenzie even got one of grandpa's canes so I could walk easier.
At the moment I am walking a little like my father in law.
so, that's the jist of it, the things we do for our kids.
At the end of the day, I thanked the good lord above for keeping my kid safe and realized I would do it all again in a heartbeat if it meant keeping her safe.

Im sure you would do the same.
goodnite.
Alex

We only got to stay one night at the campground. After getting him home and settled, taking DD to my mom's house, sitting in on a girl scout meeting that i wasn't going to because of camping, then going back up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the spruces campground by myself to break the down the campsite and drive home. I got home at 9pm EXHAUSTED!! Emotional, mental and physically...

DH did return to work today minus the cane. he is doing fine and the wound check appointment went well. now we go back around the 24th to get the stitches removed. I wasn't happy about going in the first place and see what happens.....

We are home till next week. DD and I are going to California to Knott's Berry Farm. DD's best friend wants to go there for her birthday instead of DL. Go figure... Also my godson is going to get baptized on the 22nd.

OK Just realized that I am blabbing. I do deeply apologize. I will start now! Have a good evening! Karen

My sister actually brought back some alcohol from the cruise she was just on for our wedding...she saved us a bunch of money! :)

Sunday was my surprise Cinderella themed bridal shower! My DF did a great job getting me there on time (even though I didn't know that) and it was just wonderful! One of my bridesmaids (who lived in MD) was there with her little girl (who is also my flower girl) so it was such a wonderful surprise to see her! It was a great day! Here are a few pictures from it.

The Presents! I couldn't believe how many there were!

Glad things are going well.

I think you're right about the booking thing. Also a lot of European hotels only book rooms 1 year in advance so I'm guessing that's an issue too.

And yes I agree wish I was on a cruise, at least 20 lbs lighter and a lot richer lol

Oh it sounds and looks beautiful!

OK has anyone ever stayed in an Elite room at a Marriot with access to the Club Cloud lounge? Can anyone tell me what you get and times its available? We are looking at flying in late the night before and I don't know whether the whirlpool tub and lounge access is worth it? What do people think?

Oh, I think I have to look into this. We are probably taking a morning flight the day before we are due to set sail and would get our money's worth out of this. We normally stay at hotels belonging to the Intercontinental Hotels Group, but to my surprise, there is neither a Crowne Plaza nor a Holiday Inn in Barcelona. There are three Holiday Inn Express, but that particular brand is often a bit off the beaten track or in locations that are not all that desirable.

Corina, if you ever get the chance go to the intercontinental hotel in warsaw, I think it might be the best hotel Ive ever been to.

I'm done opening the presents...as a matter of fact most of them are near me right now! I have to start writing the thank you notes very soon - probably tomorrow. Tonight I'm trying to figure out directions to the reception hall/ceremony site since we have the invitations in hand now! :yay:

Ahh, yes the invitations... that took us couple of nights of doing after we got home from work.... The ones we thought won't come, like people from other countries or from back east, they all showed up!!! Don't forget to use your Walt Font on them all!!! :lmao:

The reason I put :lmao: him at the end with the reference to the Walt font was because for us it would of been easier to use the Walt font then for me to calligraphy each one. You are bringing back some good memories for us and things we could of done differently if we could. Maybe we will have to renew our vows to have it done our way? Hmmm are you listening DH!!! aka rufustee........

Can anyone explain to me how the Facebook application works with our thread? I just don't get. Am I too old for that kind of stuff? I am on Facebook but still a novice. Thank you in advance! Karen

LOL!!!! I found the most Disney-like font I could get from the company where I ordered them from! It's a really nice font...not sure what it is called though! LOL!

My twin had knee surgery on Tuesday so I keep threatening to take away her crutches and make her address all of the invitations! :lmao:

I think a vow renewal would be fun!!!!!!! Hint hint hint to rufustee! :)
