Just an FYI for anyone thinking about getting into Barcelona a day or two early...I just booked 3 nights at Le Meridien (a DCL prefered Hotel) for 179 Euros per night...less then half of what Disney was gonna charge...and they could only get 2 nights!

I am in full tilt planning mode now!

We stayed at Le Meridian for five nights (on Starwood points) before the 2007 WBTA. It is a beautiful hotel, and that sounds like a good price for it. And it's location on Las Ramblas is perfect!

I'm going to look into booking there again for a few days before this cruise....

Oh well done! Sounds like you got a fantastic deal!

Yes! We waited over 3 hours to get into the Disney 3D panel because it was before the New Moon panel!! He only came out for a few minutes and didn't really say much but it was a nice few minutes! :cloud9:
Here's the link to our pictures if you want to check them out...my camera was acting up so I didn't get any of JD.

:yay::yay::yay:welcome aboard
nearly only a year now, this time next year i will have only 3 days to work.
Shame about the year in between.

Just a note if others missed it the castway rewards is working. I am gold so if you have taken 5 cruises you are gold. Since we were not sure if you had to have taken 6 since it was 6-11. Nope it is 5 finished cruises.

Woot early booking. But lets see if I even get on the ship since still no news on a handicapped room. I did email yesterday today I will call.

We thought of getting an apartment too.

From what I have heard from people who have been to Barcelona, you want to stay at the "top" of La Rambla...as is gets a bit "seedy" towards the bottom (on the way to the docks.)

There is a nice hotel (more like a B&B with only 25 rooms), called Casa Camper. You can get a room with a "lounge" area and free hot breakfast and snacks 24 hours. We booked a delux room there for 229 euros a night...and also a room at Le Meridien for 179 euros a night......we haven't made up our minds yet which one we like better. They are ALOT different......Casa Camper seems more unique and Barcelona like....Le Meridien seems like a high priced hotel like you can find in any city.

Another update. Still no answer but Roy at DCL is working on it still. Right now checking to make sure all that have a handicapped room need one. The message on my answering machine got cut off after that. So still up in the air but still continuing to believe in the magic of disney. Hubby not so sure. I am the disney addict. But have never had anything extra special done or a magical moment. But that is ok because I just love the message of Disney. If you can dream then you can do it.

He just figures we will not be going. I have not lost hope yet.

That place sounds nice,I think that is what i am after, just so we can make coffe(and store our wine in fridge:rotfl:) like you say, some of the hotels could be any city.
I am going to check it out, it is just with the 4 adults it will be cheaper/can get a really nice place if we put our money together and go for an apartment.
Location. that is a interesting point, glad you mentioned it as I was trying to get nearer to the port.

The suspense must be killing you! Are handicap rooms more expensive?
I mean would someone book one for... I dont know, just incase or the extra space?
I suppose also when the balances are due to be be SOMEONE is going to back out, but thats a long way off. you want it sorted before that!

I have been looking at places close to the port too - with the idea that it might be nice to be able to see the Disney Magic from the bedroom window! If you stay at the Disney recommended hotel *Le Meridien* do you think they would take your baggage to the port from there or is that only if you actually book via Disney?

Hopefully there will be some good news soon

NO they are the same price. But they are big rooms. So people who do not need them do booked them. And if no other person with a disability needs them, then they get to keep the room.

My best guess is there is a handicapped room available in a higher level but before he can do anything he needs to find out if all the 11's are for people that really need them. And I am sure that since I booked asap. Meaning I put in a request while on the ship. I was near the front of the line.

When they announce new itineries if you are lucky enough to be on the Wonder or Magic You can fill out a form. Of where and when you want to go. This still allows you to get the 10% discount and the on board credit.

This form puts you a head of others booking on the day allowed. The only other people that would be in front of me would be people who put in a request on the last transatlantic and maybe anytime before. So it means that anyone that needed a handicapped and was booking the cruise on the day it opened would be behind my request.

And I paid the the deposit that day.

Like today when they announce the new itineries anyone on the ships now will get first dibs. Not sure how the new tier system will work now for new itinaries. So might be different.

There are only 4 handicapped rooms in the 11 category. My hope is when the new ships come out there wil be alot more.

So all Roy had to do was track backwards and see yes we only requested a handicapped room. When we paid and know they messed up.

And he did say we are sorry for not being able to hold your handicapped room. Which ot me is an acknowledgement of yes I did have one but someone imputed the wrong info.

Since I was told yes I had a handicapped room but they could not tell me which one. So somehow it went to gty 11 which should have been GTY handicapped. But I did not know any different. Just that we did not know our room number so when I saw they gty I thought nothing about it.

Right on my reservation is says requires handicapped room. From the very beginning it was there.

I know it is a long way off. But my hubby wanted to pay half of it now while our dollar in high.

So we continue to wait and see. Just makes me very leary booking like this again.

The stress is not so bad now I am over the shock. NOt knowing is kind of discouraging. But I continue to believe I will be on this cruise.

We also booked flights with them so now have to be nervous of are they taking into account my scooter? Well I will sure be on them for that to make sure it works well.

As for Barcelona I think someone mentioned they spoke to DCL and lifeboat drill is at 4pm which is why this is on as departure time but we aren't leaving until 9pm? Not sure how true this is though.
I remember this from the last time..as we boarded on Saturday but did not leave until Sunday - but the life boat drill was at 4 so u needed to be on the ship - you could still leave the ship after the drill.....which I am sure u can do this time as well.

I thought I would stop by and say hello. It has been a long time since I was on and posted. I was hoping to reconnect with some old cruising companions. I am no longer "FaireyGod Mother" (could not remember my passwrod and changed emails) as some may remember me.

I was hoping to find some activities to join into, but am not really a pirate. Where would I go to see if there are any other "plain folks" planning activities?
Dee, is this you?
How is DH and Win and Christine????
How are the bunnies??? ;)

If this is you, I will drop u a PM...looking forward to seeing you all again

I am surprised u could book this early??? I know with Marriott Hotels it is usually 330 days out - thanks for the heads up.

Hi Sarah, this was what i was wondering, I posted several qs re it a few pages ago, i think(please correct if I am wrong) someone said that they paid for transfers but only sent there luggage.
Maybe you should e-mail disney and ask.Let me know how you got on, but i think we are going to go for an apartment now.

HI fellow cruisers, been a while since I posted but I have been still reading them all. Welcome to all the recent new folks, seems there will be a lot of Disers on board.
Well this weekend we are going to be packing ready for this years pilgramage to WDW.
We leave on 15th for 2 weeks at SSR on our first trip as DVC members, looking forward to it so much. Finished work at lunchtime today and dont go back until 4th Oct, I need this break after a very busy year at work but not complaining as it gets us over to Florida every year
Hope you all have a good weekend....
Michael and Trish (hotfudgesundae).
