Well all I move tomorrow so probably wont be on for the next few days. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Just checking in. We have gotten very busy because our son has changed his wedding date from June 5, 2010 to August 15, 2009. I was lucky enough to be able to use our DVC points to get a week at Animal Kingdom savanah view on such short notice for their honeymoon. Things are getting busy quickly with dress shopping and rehersal dinner planning, reception planning, and everything else. I think the hardest thing is getting him to sit down and figure out who he wants to invite. We are looking forward to adding a daughter-in-law and love her dearly.

Howdy all,
headed back to moms to continue packing up her things so we can sell her place. I'll be back late sunday.
So have a great weekend everyone, the sun is shinning here and NO rain all weekend:cool1:

One queston for those of you who have cruised the TA before.

Do they have a currency exchange on the ship ?
I know we can use our credit card for souvenirs but I often just see a little cheap thing for a couple bucks and dont want to use a CC for that. So we will need some cash.
Do they exchange for us on board ? or do some places accept american money?

Thanks for your help everyone,

Kathy

Congratulations on adding a daughter-in-law. We already have one and will be getting a second one on July 25, 2010.

We are also planning a wedding our daughter:bride: is getting married Dec 19th They were going to get married also in 2010 and changed their date. Things are starting to get busy here also.

Lots of weddings! How exciting.

Kathy, I think most if not all the countries use Euros, so if we can change once it will likely be good for all. If there's not one on the ship, money exchanges are pretty they're basically a storefront operation.

Hi everyone: It has been a while since I posted. I have been trying to read all the previous posts (and not getting very far). Slow reader i guess.

We are getting ready to take my 2 DGDs on the Magic in June, it will be their first time on a ship. Bethanie is 14 and Caitlin is 9 and they are the light of my life. I decided to take them on a cruise because last year when we went to WDW in December they just didn't seam to have as much fun as they had in the past. They missed their mother too much. Its been 2 years now since my daughter died and I am hoping that they will be able to enjoy themselves more.

I never thought I would be able to aford a TA cruise but the rates were very reasonable, the flights are costing almost as much as the cruise. We are hoping to bring Bethanie along on this cruise, if we can get it aproved by ther school. Her 16th birthday will be Sept 20, 2010. It would make a great birthday present. Of course that will mean that I have to plan a special cruise for Caitlin for her 16th birthday in Oct of 2015. I guess that is the kind of thing that Grandmothers are for.

I am so looking foward to this cruise, and getting to meet the people who have been posting on these boards for over a year for a cruise that is still more than a year away. I probably will not post very often, I am not very good on the computer, my daughter is the expert. I will be lurking and keeping up with everything that is going on. Michelle will be getting us on the roll call list soon, she promised, with her help I did get on the map. Maybe this post will get us to the end of this thead, sepecialy since it is taking me so long to compose it.

That's all for now Magie

Best of luck with getting the wedding together. My DF and I are getting married in October and I never realized how much work went into planning a wedding! It's exciting but crazy at the same time!!!!

Here is a picture I took of Remy the mouse tonight. He/She is 13 days old today. His/Her eyes are finally open and he/she is really starting to explore the cage! It's very exciting to come home from work to see him/her! I can't wait to find out if Remy is a he or a she so I don't have to typle he/she or him/her anymore! LOL!!!

Hello transatlantic cruisers!!

I haven't posted a note yet on this thread, although it was this thread that got me interested enough to book this cruise. I kept seeing the date of my 60th birthday and then I told my best friend forever, Terry and then we found out the cruise would be in St. Marteen on her birthday and next thing you know, we're booked!

Terry, aka my BFF aka tinker1bell has posted here and shared that we will indeed be on this cruise. To say I'm excited is an understatement. I have not gone back and read every post from both threads (although Terry did!), but I figured it was time for me to drop in and say hi! Especially since Terry is hellbent on sending in a photo...

So, here I am, the other half of the spa twins. Excited to get to know everyone in the coming year. :yay::dance3::yay::banana:

I see no reason why Guest Services shouldn't be able to help you out here. As someone said earlier, you could always buy some euro's before you go. You will get a better rate of exchange, rather than what exchange rate Disney decides on the day.

Here's a hidden Mickey from the botanical garden in Phoenix.
Mickey hides in the funniest places:rotfl:
Ok... everyone tilt your head to the right:rotfl2:

Too funny!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Welcome!!! :cheer2:

Kathy, We will be in Orlando for the entire month of June, following DH's back surgery at Mayo Clinic. We will be staying at Cypress Harbour, a Marriott timeshare which is very close to Disney. We couldn't think of a better place than Orlando, and Disney, for post-op recovery. If you get back to Florida before the end of June, let me know. It would be great to get together! My sister is coming on this cruise also, and will be with us for part of the June stay - I know she would like to meet you also.

We will also be at Disney - at Bay Lake Towers and Kidani Village - for four weeks for the Food and Wine Festival until mid-October. Anyone else going for that this year? Then we will be back in December for our Christmas "Disney fix" following a Wonder cruise that starts on December 10th (the $99 bounceback!). Certainly, we can get together during one of those times!

Marilyn

We will be there in June and October! :thumbsup2

We have gotten some great specials on hotels, airfares, etc!

Oh, I think I might see the makings of a Dis mini meet. We are flying to Orlando on September 30th. We have not made any concrete plans for the first 3 nights, but will either stay near the airport and do the Florida Mall and Seaworld or head out towards the gulf coast for a couple of nights.
We will be on the Magic from October 3rd and then we will be at WDW from October 11th to 19th. We are doing a split stay and will spend 4 nights in a Savannah view studio at AKV Jambo House followed by 5 nights at OKW. I would definitely be up for a meet.

ATTENTION!! ATTENTION ON DECK !!

Okay all you Pirates,Princesses,Wenches,Swabbies and just you regular folk , I just got done talking to my T shirt printer (He does all the uniforms and Tees for my 6 Football teams) and He has cleared our design for the Cruise Embarkation T shirt - These will be silk screened and will look wonderful ... We will only be doing White as it will be Hot Hot Hot when we leave Barcelona , ( I was going to do Black but we opted against it)

So , below is the design for the Front and Back of the Official TransAtlantic Pirates Embarkation T-Shirt - We will not take orders till May of 2010 - Cost should be around 10.00 to 12.00 dollars per shirt , maybe less plus shipping charge .... We will probably take order for about a month to allow enough time for shipping to everyone .... So without further ado , Here is the Design

Piratesshirt-1.jpg

That is all , now back to your daily duties ...

I love the t shirt and we will definitely want two.

Well all I move tomorrow so probably wont be on for the next few days. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good luck with the move.

Lots of action on the boards - I love it! Welcome Steffy and how exciting with all the weddings. Nordkin - you sound so excited to have an "extra" member of the family. Congrats!

Remy is adorable! I love animals so I am excited to see him with his eyes open.

The money exchange is available on board - usually long lines if you wait and they are VERY slow. I was told, when we landed in Gibraltor that I could use my credit card - every place takes credit card. Well, that is not true, our restaurant didn't and as my husband and daughter sat in the Pub, I ran all over town. I encountered a bank that could not do the exchange. Another bank that their "machine was down" and if you buy by debit card, they do NOT give cash back. I tried every option. The only one we had was my husband running back to the ship and we sit at the Pub. I was very upset. I ran back to tell him and there was the sweetest woman that overheard us, let us borrow the money and return it to her cabin. I still believe to this day that she was an angel because I had NEVER seen her before on our cruise. I slipped the money under the cabin door and that was that. She was a lifesaver so next time I am definitely take Euros!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, that was my story - sorry!

Thanks everyone for answering my question about money exchange.
After reading your story i think we will get our Euros ahead of time;)

Hi Steffy, welcome aboard:goodvibes

Off to moms for a few days.

I will catch up with everyone when i return.

Have a good weekend everyone,

Kathy

We plan on flying into Barcelona on Friday. There would be a place to exchange our money at the airport, right? I know the rate would suck, but it would be easier that trying to find a bank...

Have a great weekend :)

It was much easier to get our Euros before we left last time ...Save yourself the headache and do it before you leave ...
