I was telling people that this was a "Mediterribbean" cruise! Mediterranean + Caribbean! LOL :lmao: :beach:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Ann:wave2:

Glad you liked it! LOL

Oh I absolutely LOVE that!!! How creative!!!

Hmm....don't be surprised if the word "Mediterribbean" finds its way, even as an inside joke, onto the lanyards or name badges....or even onto a Tshirt! :thumbsup2

we should hop over onto the EASTbound thread and tell them that they're doing a "Caribberranean" cruise! lol

Thanks, I thought it was pretty funny too! :upsidedow Maybe we can be the "Pirates of the Mediterribbean"! pirate: :beach:

It would be great to be linked together for dinner.:grouphug: WOW 10th Wedding Anniversary!!!! Congrats!

I am leaving on the 16th at night and arriving in Barcelona on the morning of the 17th. What hotel are you staying at? I just checked my hotel and we are staying at the same, AB Skipper. I have heard a lot of good things abut this hotel. I just can't get over the price. I am letting Disney handle everything for me on this trip. I just want to relax!!!!

Karen

That is our plan as well, Karen. Even when we've cruised out of Florida I like arriving the day before. I'd hate to miss the boat! :scared: lol

I love this word! So going to try and slip it in in conversation at some point today!

Oh I like the idea of putting it on the Lanyard!

Oh decisions, decisions! We had originally planned to do our vow renewal on this cruise. Well, I should say that me had most recently planned this. The original plan was to have it for or 10th anniversary at Crystal Cathedral in California, but then DVC happened and two cruises happened and we put those plans on hold and decided to have a vow renewal on the Magic instead.

Fast forward and I am getting some extra annual leave as of next month due to long service and we had a look at the one way airfares (working for an airline has its advantages as I can check the fare structures for any significant airline about two years in advance) and going one way non stop is more than twice as expensive as a twelve month return ticket of we want to fly direct. So we are now seriously considering doing both transatlantic cruises. This would mean to postpone our vow renewal yet again. The plus side is that we will spend nearly a month on my favourite ship in 2010 and I am sure we will have many more wonderful and magical memories from a 14 night cruise rather than a 30 minute ceremony. We have enough DVC points to pay for one of us with points. So I have to find out what the cash rate is through DVC.

Sarah, I think you did both cruises last time round? Would you recommend doing both or were you bored during the Westbound at you had done a lot of the ports and activities on the Eastbound? Was there any issue with immigration on arrival in the USA?

Corinna

Yep I did both. I actually found the Westbound was a lot more relaxing. Trouble was I also compared things which meant that some things weren't as good on the second one. For example on the first the one night we had candles in Lumieres at dinner time (little battery powered ones) and on the return journey we had none of this. It was a little sad but then I still found it amazing so it didn't really matter. The activities were similar but didn't run out of new ones either as I found on the Eastbound I missed a lot. There was no issues with immigration at all! Oh and on the Westbound we skipped some ports mainly Cadiz and Tenerife as we had done these extensively already on the Eastbound but got off in Gibralter again and did have a look around Barcelona on the stop over there. It was nice to get a bit of a change seeing things on different days too as on the East bound we went to Cadiz on Sunday and I think Gibralter on a week day so getting a second trip was great. Also meant on the first trip we did organised tours and on the second one we went and explored! It was nice because we saw both sides of the countries so to speak. Personally I would gladly do both again this time but money wise I can't justify it especially when I want a few days in Disney after the cruise but it worked very well!

Can't wait to her Sarah's reply on this.....'cause I'm still noodling around with this option. It would take up all my vacation days (and I always like having one or two just lying around), but you sure get a lot of Disney Bang For Your Buck! :thumbsup2

Hope it helps. If you have any specific questions give me a shout and Ill try and answer them but I think I covered alot above.

LOL don't worry I haven't even looked at hotels in Barcelona either so you're not the only one!!!

Thanks for your input. We have pretty much made up our minds to do this. The question is just how and when we book this. We have a number of options: staff rates through a travel industry travel club, through DVC using points for one person and cash for the second or through DCL direct.

Karen: How do you know what time your flight will be leaving? Or are you guessing it will be at night? Or, is that how all of the overseas flights work, they leave at night so you fly all night?? That would be good, at least I'd try and sleep on the plane. LOL

Hey, American friends???
What are jet Blue like??
They are pretty cheap I know that much!

We're flown on JetBlue several times, Boston to Orlando, and always had a good experience with them. They offer decent rates and good flight times.

Thankyou, I think i am going to book, they have great deals on hotels too.
120 dollars for 2 people burbank to Las Vegas cant be bad??!! It would be better if it was 2 bucks to the pound, but never mind:)

I love the Mediterribbean! On the lanyards it would look great! I haven't even looked at Barcelona hotels and won't until next year this time. You are not the only one so don't feel bad. I haven't used Jet Blue before, but I am going to look right now on Flights from Orlando to Boston. Thanks for the tip!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks! :) At first I wasn't going to post about my "Mediterribbean" dream because it sounded strange, but my DH said to me "Hey, if anyone's going to appreciate that kind of humor, it's the DIS cruisers on the thread!" Hehehe...he was right! LOL :lmao:

Seaspray - I just booked my tickets on JetBlue! THANK YOU! I was going back and forth of what we were going to do. If I took USAir, I would have to stop in Charlotte and if I took Southwest, I fly into Providence and rent a car for a few days - which is more money. Anyway, THANKS!

Also, on the Orlando radio station this morning they said that Disney was offering "buyout packages" to some employees for early retirement and Universal had a big lay off. I know things will get better, but I have no patience.:scared:

Yes so have I !!!!!!
Viva las vegas, we also got an amazing price for the stratosphere,

Barry Manilow here we come :lmao:

hoagie and orlando: Enjoy your flights! JetBlue has the entertainment screens in the backs of every seat, so that makes the flight seem to go by quicker. :)

:thumbsup2 Thanks for the info, I am sure we can do a hour and half no bother after the marathon flight from edinburgh to LA. I am excited now:banana:  :yay: :yay:

Should I pay extra for the "extra" room seats? I was confused and thought you would be the best person to ask!

I think they started that last year right before our trip in May. I don't remember how much extra those seats are, but we didn't choose them then, and I probably wouldn't choose to pay extra for a little more space now, either. I guess if you have really long legs it might be worth it.
