My hubby hates large groups too, so I missed it :( guess I will have to photoshop us in rofl.

Does anyoen have any good pics pf the PJ breakfast group shot, and Champaign ladies. Doing our annual christmas DVD and missing some photos.
Or any photos you may have taken of Myself or Glenn.

I posted a bunch of photos on the shared flickr site. Just in case you want to have a look :)

Thanks for your help.

I am feeling much better! The meds must be working because I felt well enough to brave the grocery store today!

I start work on Black Friday at 4am so that means I'll have to be up by 2:15ish in order to leave by 3am to make it to the mall before 4am. The Disney Store opens at midnight tomorrow night so it will be busy by the time I arrive. I'm just hoping parking isn't too horrible since it's going to rain. I'm glad to be working so early though - it's fun on Black Friday! I just drink lots and lots of coffee and Coke Zero and I'm fine! LOL!!!!

For all of my cruise friends who aren't from the US, when is your official start of the holiday season? Thanksgiving is truly the kick off for Christmas in the states and Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year. Are there any big shopping days where you live? I love learning about things like this!

Glad you are feeling better. Sounds like you will have a very busy day at the store!!

I woke up at 6:00 AM this morning as I am used to getting up early on Thanksgiving to start the turkey!! John is still sleeping!!

This year we are going to the Fairmont to celebrate as it is DD Samantha's 25th birthday today. Other DD Jennifer is celebrating with her MIL Liz and SIL Pete's side of the family today. We will pick up GK's tomorrow and Jen and Pete will come down on Saturday to celebrate a belated Thanksgiving.

My Black Friday shopping began yesterday online. For those of you who don't know the Black Friday Ads for many stores are online here at BFads.

Happy Thanksgiving

to all of our friends from the USA.

Hope you all have a wonderful day and keep safe :hug:

Pleased to hear you are feeling better Amy. I don't know when the "official" start to the holiday season would be in the Uk. Personally I don't think about it until December starts, then we decorate the hosue and put up a tree round about 12 days before Christmas. This year Tony and I are working all over Christmas ... we only have the 29th off together over the whole 2 weeks. On Christmas day we will have about 3 hours together.

We don't have a "Black Friday" although I wish we did as I love bargain shopping. Our official sales mostly start on Boxing Day but these days some retailers have sales before Christmas. I think it all depends on how sales are going in the run-up to Christmas really. Do you have lots of bargains in the Disney Store ... does the Black Friday thing apply to on-line shoppping as well or do you all have to physically brave the stores, and are the stores all mega mega busy. I am like you ... I love hearing about what goes on in other countries.

Almost all the stores here are filled with Xmas decorations this week which drives me nuts. When I was younger, the Xmas decorations did not go up until at least after Thanksgiving. Each year the decorations go up earlier and earlier. I guess merchants feel they don't make much money with Thanksgiving so they want to get a jump on the shopping season.

I try to shop all year so I don't hit the stores on Black Friday. However with the advent of Black Friday online, I am taking advantage of some of the sales. Since both our microwave and garage refrigerator went out, I was able to buy new appliances online at Black Friday prices. John picked up the microwave yesterday and the new refrigerator will be delivered on Friday. We are moving the house refrigerator outside and getting a new inside refrigerator.

Are you having a big clear out? I keep doing bags and taking them down to one of the many charity shops in Harrogate. As our lovely neighbour has terminal bowel cancer(and is not good at the moment), the cancer ones are our choice right now.:sad2:

Not so much a big clear out, more a demonstration of the King Canute principle, no matter how much you try you cannot resist the incoming tide :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

Our local hospice does a great job, but is constantly struggling for funds to keep going.

Felt a need to make a few cupcakes this afternoon as there were some spare eggs lying around -

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving from sunny Florida.

At last I've had time to catch up with all the comings and goings since the cruise. Hope everyone is well with :grouphug:'s and pixiedust: to everyone who needs it.

:woohoo: to Corrina on getting the job, don't imagine you'll be at a UK meet next year now! If life doesn't get too hetic before you go it'd be great to get a coffee in Manchester to wish you well on your travels.

I'm totally into the Black Friday shopping tradition and will be at the prime one mall by midnight tonight then on to Florida Mall between 4am and 5am tomorrow morning for more bargains (I hope!). If this happened at home and I was working I'd never do it .

The pool is calling :rotfl2: not quite cruise standards, have to make my own bed etc. but hey we're on our holidays. :cheer2:

Just popping in to say hi and wish all of us in the US a Happy Thanksgiving. Have not been online since returning from my wonderful month off as work is getting payback (10+ hours a day and 1 day on the weekend), but thankful to have a job. It is chilly hear in SF for the holiday weekend. Hope everyone is well.

Sarah, there should be some Black Friday deals online at www.disneystore.com and you should be able to shop from there!

We had a nice Thanksgiving, but I really need to get to bed. I'm getting up at 2:25am to be at work by 4am! Long day but it's fun! :)

Same here. John loved the sunrise pictures.

I was just talking about your wonderful website on the 2011 WBTA thread. We are going to miss you guys on next years cruise.

John is thinking about doing the same type of site for the 2011 cruise but it of course, will be patterned after yours which I gave full credit!!!

We had a lot of fun with the website - we still have the site up - I was thinking of posting pictures there...

That is awful. Your poor family.

Well, I am bursting with news. Probably everybody on here knows that I went for an interview in Dubai over the weekend. I flew home yesterday afternoon and was not supposed to hear the outcome until next week. I got in the office today and I had a job offer in my inbox. They want me within the next month or so. I am both excited and scared stiff. Being in Dubai again made me realize just how much I love this place and I cried a little tear when I left. Little did I know that I would return so soon and permanently. I really thought I had blown the interview. I have a mind of my own and I am not afraid to speak it. I was not sure how this had come across. I was interviewed by somebody from HR and my future manager, who I really like. I also met some of my new colleagues and everybody who I had the chance to meet was wonderful. I am looking forward to making new friends, but I am also sad to say goodbye to my friends in the office here.

Corinna

Congratulations! How exciting! Is it a permanent position?

Fun times Amy!!! I did a Black Friday when I was with Cinnabon - all staff had to work in a retail store for Black Friday and it was always fun!! The year I did it I got in at 2:30. I didn't leave until 6pm... I got to my car, turned it on, turned on the heat and immediately fell asleep... Security woke me up about 90 minutes later... It was a little funny... :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! I hope that everyone had a happy and safe day. We have Glenns family in town - so our little house has 12 of us in it... A bit crowded but fun! We had a turkey, a turducken and all the trimmings, and are now sitting on the deck having (you will never believe it) cocktails! (Yeah, yeah I know - not me...)

Anyway - hope that everyone is having a great day/evening!!

We had a lot of fun with the website - we still have the site up - I was thinking of posting pictures there...

What a great idea!! Will you have a special section? What format could others post pictures or will just you post your own pictures? If you can host pics from photobucket, then you would not need the bandwidth for others to post pictures.

I've been away from the boards. Greetings from Maui. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

We had a lovely Thanksgiving. Hope you are having a lovely time in Maui!! John and I are off to pick up our Xmas tree in a few hours.

Our next door neighbor for our house at Lake Almanor lives there in the winter in a condo near the yacht club harbor in Lahaina. I wish it was the 80's here!!

That is a great story, Sue! I was there at 4am and worked until 4:37 pm so it was a LONG retail day! I don't know how people do 12 hour shifts on a regular basis! I thought I was going to fall over asleep at about the 11 hour mark. It was a fun day though, but I have to say I am glad that I'm at home now getting ready for bed!

Im doing the cooking again, wanting to put up more Christmas goodies but the cold wind is getting to be a problem.
Howard and I did buy ourselves an early Christmas gift.... a Wii !:cool1:
before Black Friday so if we have a problem with it we wont have to take it back on Dec 26!

cool

does anybody have some pj breakfast pics they can share or tag me on face book, I totally forgot about them?

thanks, Lynne

So nice to get a new refrigerator!
We went into town for a couple of hours to get some bargains. Didn't need alot and we did NOT brave the early crowds. We shopped only from 10-11. We got a Dyson vaccum cleaner :dance3::yay: and I got a new little hand mixer since my 40 year old one was starting to struggle. We also got a hand mixer ($3) for our grandson for Christmas. He called a few days ago and asked how one would go about making mashed 'taters, if one were going to do that. :lmao: He is 21 and just living on his own out of dorms now. I told him how to make them and he said he has no potato masher or mixer so he would try it with a fork. So we decided to get those things for him and send along with his Christmas $$.
I also got a sewing machine. Just a simple one, nothing fancy. I did not move my old, cranky one with us when we moved to MT 2 years ago. So now I am trying to find someone who need something sewed!! :confused3 I'm "thinking", just thinking at this point, about making a quilt. I made one some years ago and sewed all the seams by hand, but I'm thinking (I think that I may be thinking too much!) that I would like to sew the seams by machine and then just hand quilt one.

So for me, a mixer, sewing machine and vaccum. Yay! Merry Christmas to me!! :rotfl2::lmao:
