Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Baward,
It might be fun to go through a hurricane again. Maybe we'd get another half off trip. That's the only way it would be worth it. My dad and my husband both enjoyed it, the only time I got up was to go eat, not that I ate much when I did.

Hi Everyone, :wave2:

I was an airline employee at the time of that hurricane cruise, and since we travelled cheaper we did not receive the discount.. Oh well..THe bad part is they told us we would..Got home, and a different tune.. :cool1:

Oh well. My ds who was 8 at the time, was sick once, and that was it for my immediate family..Friends of ours however, were VERY SICK. for over 24 hours...Father, mother, and the 2 kids..My cousin also was green, and I looked after her 2 year old for half the cruise.. :sad2: Thrilled I wasn't..Oh well..Now, this time, I would qualify for the 50 % off, so ya never know... Just kidding of course...Let there be sunny skies, and calm seas throughout..

Glad to see everyone aboard...Hope you all have a great day..

I am dreaming of an upgrade.. :lovestruc

Hope the doggie gets better soon..

Just added DW's aunt from The Woodlands, TX to our merry group. Our group is now up to eight with 6 adults and two children in three cabins. The great states of Ohio, Indiana, California and Texas are now represented.

Everyone has their flights on the day before -- now I am going to try Priceline for the first time. I hope I win the Hyatt at the airport but the other three star hotels that are nearby and have shuttles are also nice. Hope to save over $ 400 using Priceline compare to paying the $ 189/night for the Hyatt times three rooms -- That $ 400 can go to our Bingo allowance.

I think you all were on the week (hurricane) prior to us. We were on the post Jeanne cruise. We had beautiful weather, calm seas....but we couldn't sail until Monday night. So we missed two and a half days. We got 30% back on that cruise (which helped with hotel) and $100 off the next cabin ($200.00 for higher catagories.). AND we went to Costa Maya and Cozumel instead of Eastern. SOOOOOOOOO I am definately doing the no hurricane dance on this one! i did hear the seas were quie rough the week before. Even the crew was sick!~Off to Vegas tomorrow! yippeeeeee!

Happy Sunday everyone....

Jenn...hope you're having FUN  in Vegas..Wish I was there..

Hi to everyone...Busy weekend, and RAIN AGAIN..I swear that it has been raining fro 10 days straight, getting downright depressing..Hopefully we will see the :sunny: soon, or I am going to look for the animals.. :teeth:

Hope you all are doing well..Let's get posting here...

Sherrie :goodvibes

Hi everyone -- I'm back. It's been crazy at work and home, so I've been off the boards for awhile. Jenn, hope you are having fun in Vegas. I go in less than two weeks for a long Girls' Weekend. yipee!

We were on the Hurricane Jeanne cruise last year too and had a great time.

KSUmom -- other than the KSU part (I'm a KU grad), you sound all right! Where in KS are you? We live in Joplin, MO but I'm from Kansas City. We took the SW flight out of KC last year on Saturday (the day of the cruise) and it worked out great. I think it was an 8am flight. We got to Orlando in plenty of time. I, too, am waiting for the SW fares to decide what we will do this year. As it works out, my DH can take Friday evening off, so we will probably go down in Friday. Esp. since one of my good friends has a condo within sight of the port. Last year the tkts were $200 per person, roundtrip. I don't know what we'll do this year. I love that non-stop flight, but KCI is 3 hours from our house, and since we don't have to go on the day of, direct isn't quite as impt. Anyway, it's a really easy flight.

So...I still haven't purchased trip insurance or REAS, but need to get busy with those soon. The weather here was awesome, but got cool again on us last week. drat. I like cruising in September for several reasons, but one is enjoying summer and knowing that ours ends a little later than everyone else's -- looking forward to the cruise as the pools close down at Labor Day, y'know? And, generally we have somewhat of a base tan so we don't get fried. AND, if we need new duds for the cruise they are ON SALE! yay!

Anyway...it's good to be back, hope all is well with everyone and hooray, hooray it's the first day of May!

Hi everyone... Karen1 checking in again. Still waiting with the rest of you for SW to start booking for our timeframe. What is taking so long?????

We just got back Saturday night from our trip to N. California to find a rental house. We were able to get a gorgeous 5 bedroom (yay, the kids don't have to share bedrooms anymore!) that is all on one level. Best part is that hubby won't have to keep up the yardwork; the owners will do that. We'll be a short 15-minute drive from Napa. Makes his drive to work a little longer, but I think it will be worth it.

Trying to reach DVC Member Services this morning on the web so I can put in for a villa a couple of nights before the cruise (my youngest turns 5 on the 15th, so we want to go down the night before).

Karen

Hello everyone!

Not much is new here in north central Ohio - except that it was sleeting yesterday! Boo hiss.

My sister, Melissa, my cruise companion, is in the process of adopting a baby girl from Guatemala. She's been put on the waiting list for a referral, and that should happen sometime in the next 1-3 months. When she gets a referral, we then wait 6-8 months to pick her up. We're very excited because this will be the first baby to join our family - my mom's first grandchild (my dad's too, of course, but he isn't quite on cloud 9 like my mom :))!

Anyways, not much else is new here. Just whiling away the time until we hear that beautiful sound... (wish I could post the sound of the whistle, but you'll just have to play it in your minds )...

Jenny

Hi guys,

I'm trying to decide if I should purchase the REAS package. Is it $200 per couple? Is it really worth it? We're going on the cruise with two other couples and they asked me to look into it...so I'm going to you, the pro's:)

Thanks,
Lisa.

:wave2: Everyone.....Sherrie from Montreal here, no snow, but bloody well cold it is.. :cold: Hope Jenn is doing well in VEgas.. :cool1:

Glad about the house, sounds nice and large, great with the kids eh..

The READ is 339$ per couple, and I am considering it as well..Time to think about it...

Even thought I am in Montreal, I am waiting to for SW, as I may fly from Albany to MCO...Seems to be taking a long time.. :sad2:
Oh well...Hope everyone is doing well...

take care.. :grouphug:

Hello all,
I am sure Jen is having a great time in Vegas since the weather is suppose to be sunny and warm for the week. I saw a weather cast yesterday that said it was in the 30's during the day in Denver. I wish I was with her. I got through my yard sale and made 160 dollars, not bad for a rainy cold weekend. It has been in the 50's and barely 60's here (Illinois). The last couple of days have been sunny but the weekend was rainy. I leave for Destin, Fl. on Saturday at about 6:30 in the morning (yuck!) but I will be so happy ten hours later when we are in beautiful sunny Florida. We ended up having to be moved from our usual condo to another one on the second floor (our usual one is on the ground floor making easy access to the beach) because the repairs from hurricane Ivan are not done yet. I was disappointed but at least we will still be there. We will just have to deal with an elevator now. Oh poor me!!! I know, shut up, Trisha! At least I'll be in Florida.
Is it usual for SW to be taking this long to get out a new flight schedule? I don't see what the hold up is. I hate having thing up in the air, especially when it involves vacation.
Jenny- How exciting for your sister and your family. I hope everything goes well.
I hope this finds all of you well and in warm weather. Talk to you again soon.

Hey everyone -- I think the holdup with Southwest is just a matter of timing. Just a couple of days...

On the REAS package -- we did it last year and it was great. A really nice breakfast in bed one day, the ability to book the couples massage in advance and the ability to make Palo's dinner and brunch reservations in advance. The gift basket is nice, but I could take it or leave it. The big advantage was making those reservations in advance especially since we flew in the day of the cruise and so didn't have to feel rushed trying to get those reservations. WE are probably flying down the night before this time, but I think I will sign up again just for the ease of pre-arranging. Hope this helps.

Wendy

Trisha, you got that right, you will at least be in FLORIDA..No, kidding, enjoy it, and soak up the sun.. :sunny:

What are the chances Jenn won the megabucks, and is never coming back.. :rotfl: Hope you had are having fun Jenn..

I will try to stay up to check out Southwest fares... :earboy2:

Have a good day all... :goodvibes

Thanks so much Wendy! About the massage...my husband doesn't like them. I know he's crazy. He's actually super ticklish! Is there something he could substitute in the massage's place? Or do you think I could have a friend take his massage appt.?

I can't wait for the trip...are you guys pre-tanning before the cruise so you don't burn?

Lisa.

Hello all,

Just a few more days and Trisha, the boys and I will be headed for Florida, white sands and hopefully plenty of warm and sunny weather. If Jen hits it big in Vegas she is buying the drinks on the cruise or at least bottles of wine during dinner. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Did you all notice my "avatar". I put in my company logo (I am assuming that it worked and you (we) can By the way where in the world did they come up with the word avatar for the little picture under our names. In the dictionary the word avatar is defined as "the incarnation of a god; any physical phenomenon" :confused3 :confused3 Maybe I just have an old dictionary???

I know Jen, I am getting to technical and should just mellow out, I can here you saying it now. So here have a

Everyone have a great day and God bless.

Hi everyone,
Just thought I would check in. Has everyone seen the new DCL website? Greatly improved, check it out when you get a chance. You can now make Palo, spa, & children's club reservations online. Not sure how far in advance though, 90 days, I think. Concierge guests can make them 120 days in advance. Can't wait to see all of you in September! Can we go yet?

Oh, by the way, "Happy Happiest Celebration on Earth Day". Let the party begin!!! :wizard:

Hey! Back from Vegas. We had a great time!!! The weather was Beautiful! Of course I burned the first day so it made laying out the other days hard but it eventually tanned up real nice (so the cellulite on my legs is not QUITE so obvious...the girls out there will know what i am talking about :rotfl: ). It was so relaxing. We got up every day around 10, went to the pool for a while, went upstairs and vegged, read, showered etc, then went to a show or movie and dinner. We didn't gamble a lot because we NEVER win anything! We lost $40.00 (thanks Denver Nuggets) and then won $30.00 back on two hands...then there was the $10.00 or so I lost in the blackjack machines. Not real gamblers (although I would be if I could ever win anything!) It was great and thank goodness the sun is shining here now. I know what mammasita is talking about. It rained here forever! Bring on the summer!!!
Steve,
""""""the word avatar is defined as "the incarnation of a god; any physical phenomenon" """""
You aren't by any chance comparing yourself to a god....are you. "Cuz I'm just sayin'...... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Jenny, Congrats to your family. How exciting. I have a friend who adopted a baby from China and I have to say, she is the cutest thing I have ever seen (and I'm not a real baby person). They must only adopt the reeeaaalllly cute ones!
About the REAS. It seems to me, and what do I know, that the only thing worth justifying the cost is if you would have massages anyway. The early reservations are great but it is expensive. Breakfast in bed is nice but room service is free. If your hubby doesn't like massages, to me, it wouldn't be worth it. BUT.....as I have never done it, I probably wouldn't listen to a word I say :) .
Trisha and Steve, Have a great time in Destin. I just got back from vacation and I am still green :bounce: with envy! I hope it is fantastic!!!! I know it will be. Tell those boys to behave. I keep telling my kids "There are two kinds of parents. Those that take there kids on vacation and those that vacation to get away from there kids. Which kind do you want us to be?" Our only rule is.....don't make me miserable!!!!! Have a great time!
Glad to read all your posts! It was fun! Have a great day. I hae to go get my poooooorrrr pooch who has been in a 3x3 cage for the past week (kennel). It just breaks my heart :sad2: :sad2:
  BYE!
