Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Twelve inches in the back yard and supposed to start tapering off at 3am (14 hours from now) and stop sometime tomorrow morning. It is snow at least an inch an hour where I am. We are supposed to get between 16 and 24 inches. My husband (the accountant) is at work and thinks he will stay there all night. My children are home with me Just a note to say HELP ME!!!!! They're coming to take me away haha heehee hoho!!! To the funny farm where life is beautiful all the time.......

Crazy. I heard it's suppose to continue through the morning. eek. I hope your husband can make it home from work.

It finally seems to be stopping!!!! We have about 17 inches on the back porch...it is partially covered so I don't know how accurate that is but it is also blocked from the wind gusts. I am not going out to the yard to get a better measurement tonight...for sure~!!! School is cancelled tomorrow. I feel a little cabin fever, even though it has only been a day!!! Lisa, Can you believe how heavy the snow is! My husband made it home fine about 6:30. Said the mafor roads were clear, just not the side ones. I hope it is not too icy tomorrow morning. Trisha, did you get the nice weather I sent you? Enjoy it while it lasts...I am already ready to send this weather packing!!
Jenny, So glad you are posting and not lurking. It is fun when a lot of people post and let's face it...lurking is just down right creepy
KD, It must have been so hard to move away from your family. There goes all that free babysitting , I would miss my parents sooo much.

Hi everyone-
Jen, I thought you were kidding until I saw the news. How crazy is that!!! We have had snow flurries in May before but never an actual snow storm! The bright side is the weather channel said it should be gone by Wednesday and in the 60's and 70's. Another bright side is you'll be in Vegas in a few weeks and I will be in Florida. We had an absolutly gorgeous weekend, I even got a little sunburn. Today we are suppose to have storms although all I have seen is clouds.

KD- I am glad everything is starting to settle down now and you can get back to the fun stuff- vacation planning. I will be in Destin, Fl. in 4 weeks and I hope the weather is good. I can't wait.

How's everyone else doing? If you are lurking, at least pop in and say hello so we know how many to expect for a cruise meet. It's always nice to hear from ya!

I'm looking for some email buddies for my 13 & 11 yr old daughters. Especially the 11 year old, she'll be in a different group from her sister & cousin. They're in 7th and 5th grades here in Kansas. My 13 year old is into Anime, computers and her gameboy/X-Box games. My 11 year old is more into girly stuff like makeup, jewlry, being grown up and that type of things.

Looking forward to making them some new friends!!

Trisha - have fun in Destin FL (not sure where it is or what there is to do there). I am new to this FL thing.

Jennat - I miss the free babysitting but I have to say I miss my mom more than anything. I always thought I was a daddy's little girl but I am missing her much more right now.

My relief will be my sister - she lives about 3 hrs from me and is coming this weekend. It will be nice to have her around for a few days. My husband jokes and says he moved to get away from family so why is it my sister has to visit when we have been down here only 2 weeks. When I painted the picture of "GOLF" for him he seemed to forget she was coming and is making his mental plans for his "private time" this weekend. I had to remind him of "what's in it for him". He is happy now.

KD, I am definately a momma's girl. I don't know what I would do if there was a move. She goes on vacation and it puts a crimp in my style. Hang tough . Have fun with your sister. Your husband is taking the kids golfing with him right??? I don't think they allow kids at the spa !

KD, Destin is in the Florida panhandle, a little island? on the gulf. Beautiful, soft beaches....yea so I hear, I have never been there. Trisha goes quite often. It will be dreamy to hear the details.

Just watched After the Sunset with Pierce Brosnan(sp). It is filmed in Nassau and has a cruise ship in it. Puts me in the mood. I can't wait!

I'm nervously waiting for Southwest to open up those dates, I'm hoping airfare won't be outrageous! My sister, her family & my mom in Ohio all bought their airfare this past week. Southwest is the only nonstop flight from Kansas City so I hope I don't goof up by waiting and wind up paying for it!

Hey all!!! We are still here hanging out in Ohio waiting for Southwest to publish the fares for our week as well. We have been holding out for them because a friend in the industry has told us they are the most financially solid airline around. I am such a worrier I do actually worry when I buy airline tickets........."what if they go out of business...". If I could only get the voices in my head to quiet down once in a while.

KSUMOM........I have a daughter that is in the 6th grade (12 now) and I would love to hook her up with one of your daughters to email. In fact she just ask me today if I had found anyone on the cruise for her to write with. I will send you a PM with my email. I would also love to find an email buddy for my son who will be 10.5 at cruise time.

I will send a PM to put in all of our family info as well for the spreadsheet. My husband is not much of a meet kinda guy...but I will drag my sister with me, we are always in for more people...more fun!

Hi everyone-

I am also waiting for Southwest to open our dates. I signed up for their e-mail updates and also on travelocity's fare watcher so we shall see. Most of the deals I have found are only good through August, if that far out.

KD- As Jen said, Destin is in the panhandle midway between Panama City and Pensicola. We usually drive down and it takes us about 10 hours (limited potty breaks). It is a great family vacation place with some of the most beautiful beaches I have seen in all my travels. They have alot of stuff for families to do but we mostly just sit on the beach and veg for the week. We rent a condo so we don't even have to leave the premise to eat if we don't want to. Our first day there is going to be Mother's day so guess where my behind is going to be planted!

Jen- We got the storm front that you all did but fortunatley it came in the form of thunderstorms and not snowstorms. I was talking to a school bus driver the other day and he said one of the worst snow storms this area has seen came on April 14th.....Wait .....That's today ......Ok, I just looked outside and it is sunny out so I think we are alright. Anyway, it was rainy and cloudy for a few days but today it is beautiful again.

So has anyone figured out what our count is so far for the number of people in our roll call? There are several people from the first few pages that we haven't heard from since but I bet the number is pretty big. Now that it is getting warmer and the number of days til our cruise is getting smaller I am getting more and more excited. I just can't wait!!!!

Hey all, thought I would post to bump us up off the second page. It is a gorgeous day here. Must be 70+ LOVIN' IT! Tax season is OVER . I have a hubby again. Spent yesterday having a garage sail. Told my kids they could have the money for whatever they sold...so go trid of some of the thousands of toys. Actually, with them getting older it is finally getting better (toy wise). We have a babysitter coming in an hour and are going to dinner and a movie with friends! I'm soooo happy to have my life back (and the sunshine back). I have decided not to send (sun) on....sorry Trisha, it's just soooo nice so I can't share. You can come out and visit it though. When is your Destin trip....First week in May???

Congratulate me, everyone! I hit the magic #75, so I'm a real, live Mouseketeer (okay, in the world of DIS, anyway).

The weather here in Ohio has been LOV-E-LY this week. It makes the wait more bearable.

Last night was my sister's birthday. We went to a Japanese Steakhouse in Columbus (about 90 minutes away) with some family and had a delicious meal and good times.

Sorry to everyone who has NOT had lovely weather lately. Just think - 5 months until beautiful, balmy, non-bad weather on board our favorite ship of magic and eternal youth.

Hi y'all... Karen #1 checking in. We closed on our old house and are now in temporary quarters until we leave Nebraska for California at the end of May. The 6 of us (plus dog) are in a 3BR furnished apartment (dropping from 3400 sq. ft. to just under 1300 sq. ft.) and the next 6-7 weeks can't go fast enough! We are on the second floor and found out tonight that beneath us lives a young couple with 2 small children ages 2 and 3.... who go to bed at 7pm every night. Oh, and my kids don't go to bed for another 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Lovely......

I'm in the same boat with the rest of you, waiting for Southwest to open up booking for our time frame. We're hoping to go down a couple of days early, since my 4yo will have his 5th birthday on the 15th. Hopefully we could use some of our DVC points for the first time.

Hang in there... Sept. will be here before we know it!

Karen, Oh my!!! Nothing like a little stress! I remember staying in a hotel and the second floor and spending the whole time Shushing my kids and even getting on them for walking to loudly. I just knew the people below us would come up freakin"! At least your four year old NEVER jumps off beds and things, right . As far as the square footage, ouch. It is probably going to be smaller in Calif than your old house because it costs so ridiculously much, right, so this way it will still seem BIG! I know here, a lot of people's houses are 1500 sq feet and noones houses are 3400 unless they pay a couple million.....(not counting the basements). It is so expensive to buy them (although it seems to be slowing down). It must have been a big shock moving from Nebraska to Calif.

It is gorgeous here in Montreal, spring is here early...Hope it stay.s 80 degrees and sunny all weekend..

Mamasita, Glad you are posting again. Please jump in often. Even if you have to cancel we still will have made a new friend. If you have booked why do you think you still might not go? Just not sure, on a personal level? We would love it....once again I have the same ages, same sex kids...and the more the merrier! Just post...we will forgive if you cancel . Hot and gorgeous here, too. I am trying to teach my dd to ride a bike and have been sprinting with her all day. She rides for 6 seconds and then needs to be stablized. My muscles are mush but it has to be great exercise.
