Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Hi all-
It is freezing here today but at least the sun is shining and it is beautiful. I have all the blinds in my house up letting it shine in and warm the house.
Jen C. just saved us 180$ each.... by switching to Geico (just kidding, couldn't resist...hehehe!). No really, she got a quote from Dreams Unlimited for 180$ less than the price we already booked with All Seasons Travel. So she called them asked them to match the price and they did!!!!!!! Isn't that cool!!!!????? That's just one of the many reasons I call her a friend. Now I still need to find a way to speed up time til our cruise.

We did the same thing with Allseasons price matching DU. The only reason we did not just switch to DU is because we already had our cabins that we wanted and did not want to risk losing them, as well as we had already mailed our 25% off vouchers. They matched the quote, however did not match for someone else we know.........I was also told to please not share this information with others by the agent at allseasons:grouphug: . Not sure why..........

It is very cold here as well, and we have all the blinds shut so the cold air stays out! I think its around 8 degrees.

I was soooo excited to get the $180.00 off. It was better than if we had gotten that price in the first place....Christmas come early!
Wendy? if we can figure out what the (patters, navigator..etc) is, we should be able to search under that to find out the schedule. Maybe we can ask someone on a cruise before ours to post back. Although, we are so far out it may change. Tell us about your day sail in St Thomas. Was there any problem leaving the kiddo? What if they had needed you, did they just deal unless it was an emergency? Mine are 6 and 9 so I am not terribly worried but would love to hear your experience.
Jen C

Hi everyone-
I was just checking in to see how everyone is doing. We have been lucky here with the weather the last few days. Today it is 55 degrees and sunny. I am trying to get the kids to go outside and play. I wish it would stay this way until Spring but I know that won't happen. In fact, tomorrow it is suppose to get cold again and have snow flurries and sleet. Oh well, only a couple more months until Spring.
Did I mention that I can't wait until our cruise :Pinkbounc !!!!!!!

So neat to see all these people from MO!! :cool1: My dh and I are both from there originally. I was born and raised down in Sikeston (any of you go to Lambert's??) and he grew up in Florissant... still has a brother there and parents and sister in St. Peters.

We are watching airfares as well. We found out a little while ago that we're moving in June, so we will be flying in from the left coast (Sacramento) instead of the middle of the country. The best fare I've found so far is $250 and I don't think it's going to get much better. Too bad teleportation hasn't been invented yet! :teleport:

Yes, my name is Wendy. It was over 60 deg. today in Joplin, MO. Just great because earlier this week it was high of 24 or something. OK, St. Thomas excursion, we did the Champagne Catamaran Snorkel and Sail b/c the Passporter rated it a 10, and it lived up to it. I think they still have that excursion but it's called something else? The ship was named the Allura. A young couple owns and sails it. The guy and his two brothers built it in the Carolinas and sailed it to St. John. They met us right at the ship and we walked on board and sailed over to St. John. It was a great trip. The lunch was great, too. The waves were just starting to come in from Hurricane Jeanne, and the guy kept calling his buddies to go surfing later. Only one person got sea sick on the boat. Phoebe, our daughter, was fine in Oceaneer's Club. They open early on excursion days for people with early excursions like we had. I don't know what they would have done in case of an emergency? I do know it was fine and she had a great day with her "counselors". I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I just don't know what excursions to do this time. I definitely want one beach day for her sake and don't know whether to do that on St. Maartan or St. Thomas. Anyway, I found it great to do one excursion just with my husband. A mini-vacations for us. And then we were just excited to get back to the ship and to her, so it was a win-win. I love that abt the Disney cruise, too. We were able to get our own time here and there, while she's having the time of her life, and also to share so much of the magic with her. We loved the matinee shows in the Walt Disney theater. The late shows were too late for her as we had early dinner. Anyway, I'm excited to do it all again. Yipee!

Karen-
Of course I go to Lamberts! We usually try to eat there when we go down for the Rodeo. Haven't been for a couple of years though. It is about an hour and fifteen minutes from where I live in Illinois. I live in Herrin which is about 12 miles from Carbondale, home of Southern Illinois University (go Dawgs!). I grew up in the neighborhood behind the Midrivers Mall (or whatever they call it now). It was just a dirt field when I was a kid.

I haven't been back to Sikeston in a while, either.. probably 3-4 years. I kinda miss the annual rodeo. (And hey... Norm wouldn't be caught dead calling those rolls "thrown"... that would be too proper!! His rolls were "throwed!")

Karen

Ah! We have a Lambert's in Southwest Missouri, too, just south of Springfield on the way to Branson. Yummy! As a kid I used to visit my Great Aunt in Murphysboro, IL -- very close to Carbondale. We would go in late summer and pick peaches to take back home to Missouri. So much fun!

Karen,
$250.00 coast to coast doesn't sound bad! It can't get a whole lot better than that. Do you think it is to early to book? I found a great airfare from Denver $165.00) but wondered if the way things are with the airlines, if it wasn't risky? What do you think?
Trisha.....70s/no humidity here in Denver....sorry but it is Beautiful....I'm sure it won't last but as long as it does :cool1: :cool1: OH Yeah!
Chime in people, let us know what is going on!
We miss ya!
Jen C

Wendy... Yes, I had heard Norm opened up a couple new locations. I was going to Lambert's when it was a little cafe with a counter and bar stools and would only hold 50 or so people. Nothing like it is now!

JenC... We are waiting to hear back from the woman who will be my husband's new boss/coworker in CA before we buy plane tickets. We need to see just how much time he can take off. We'd like to go a few days early for my youngest's 5th birthday and use our DVC points. I'm thinking $250 isn't too bad.

Karen

Alright..........

Here we are in central Ohio........In yet again another winter storm! The kids are so bummed it has fallen on the weekend(can't miss school) and I am so thrilled it has fallen on the weekend :crazy2: . It is beautiful and cold, hopefully warm enough for anyone classified as a child to play outside this afternoon. I secretly (until he reads this) think my husband likes being the hero and clearing every driveway in sight!

Have a good one all,
Missy

Missyoh, if your hubby would like to travel up to Cleveland I have a driveway waiting for him. This has been one crazy winter! I think we need to go cruising! Can't wait!

If you were here he would.......after getting off work this a.m. (24 hour shift) he stopped and did his parents and 2 of their neighbors and then came home to work on ours and our neighbors!

The next round should be comming in soon I believe so he will be out again later this p.m. The older ladies across the street made him a chocolate cake the other day for doing the snow........little did they know......they have now created a monster! :guilty:

Good luck ragdoll.......I think we might get more snow than you with this one. Good news is our 10 year old has been outside since 9:30 this morning!

See ya,
Missy

teaforwendy,
Trisha and I and our hubbies are doing a daysail in St Thomas. They can accomodate 6 adults (no kids). You (or anyone who wants to) are welcome to join in, if it is something that interests you.
70 degrees and amazing here...it won't last, but while it does :jumping4: :cool1: :jumping2: :flower1:

It is VERY exciting to see so many from MO on the cruise! Some of us may end up doing a "mini-meet" on the flight to Orlando!! LOL

TeaForWendy- you said midship deck 2...what's your stateroom? We have 2058. So we'll probably be neighbors...

And 4kidsandadog...I have a REALLY funny story about Lamberts! (involving a hot roll "throwed" right to the eye!! :earboy2: )

Sheesh...I don't know how I'm gonna make it through today...let alone almost 8 more months of waiting!!!!!!! :jumping3:

ok ........how does everyone else get to the port. Friday or Saturday? DCL bus or rental or limo??

Has anyone gotten air tickets yet??

Just curious................

Missy (in OH not MO) lol

Last time we went to the port on Friday night by limo. I'm not sure what we'll do this time. We may use some of our DVC points a few days before the cruise. If we do that, we probably won't go to the port until Saturday. I imagine we'll do a limo again. Works out just as cheaply as transfers when you're talking about 6 of us.

We are getting to Orlando on Wed so don't know when we will head down...prob Sat early. We are renting a car. It is a lot cheaper than transfers. There is a code w810011 that gives you 25% off on several (Hertz I know). allearsnet.com has several codes.
Trisha, are you alive?? haven't seen you around on the boards.
