Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

We cruised the 9/18/04 Eastern Magic last year and had such a great time despite missing Castaway Cay. Disney was wonderful IMO, putting us up at the Dolphin on our last night so the ship could get away from Hurricane Jeanne. So...we are doing it again, me, DH and DD (who will be 4). Already stocking up on Princess dresses for her. All the time she talks about missing her "counselors" from Oceaneer's Club. Anyway, we can't wait. I read these boards a TON before our cruise last year, but never registered. Anyway, they were a huge help and wonderful source of information. Can't wait to join you all!

We will be there. DW and I, DD(9) & DS (4). We too were on the 9/18/04 Magic cruise. Looking forward to cruisin' again. The countdown is on!!!!! :boat:

I'm a bit nervous abt hurricanes shortening our trip again, but mostly very very excited. I will pack A LOT less this time. It's very icy here (SW Missouri) now. Thinking abt the sunshine is good.

Hooray for September 17th 2005 Magic Cruisers -- Thanks to ChrizJen for telling me about this Meet Board. My wife and I will be travelling with our DD (10) and DD (6). I discovered the Disboards during Hurricane Frances and the
information and support of fellow Disney cruisers was tremendously helpful.
This will be our fourth Disney cruise (all during Hurricane seasons) and looking forward to meeting & sharing our trip with all of you. After we booked on
Dec 31st, the rest of the family is now going. Mom (Indiana), Sister (Indianapolis), Brother (LA) and Mother-in-law (Cincinnati) will be joining
the festivities.

"It's Time to Remember the Magic"

Will try to get my other family members hooked on disboards and join in on the activities. I can't believe first seating is already filled up -- hope the
waiting list comes thru. Just wanted to get our cruise on the first page to
get more activity.

Hey guys! So glad this roll call is up and running. It makes the "waiting" so much more fun. My family will be on board with you. It is my DH, Michael and me, Jen, (37/39yo) and my DS, Trenton 9 and DD, Natalie 6. We are being joined by a couple we met on a roll call board and then on the ship two years ago. Trisha and Steve (?younger than me ) and Braiden and Reese (I probably slaughtered their name spelling), 6 ish and 3 ish (I'm not sure!). We were on the Sept 25th (27th) cruise last year also, but aboard Princess (there is a story). I will be glad to be with Disney this year. Hopefully, we won't run into hurricane problems! :earseek: We were on Disney in 2001, aboard this ship and my kids loved it. Looking forward to getting to know you. I know Trisha will pop in and introduce herself soon!
Jen C (is there another Jen? Chrizjen?)

Ms. Karen,
I am Jen C's son Trenton and I will be 9 on our cruise. Just wanted to say hi. What is your name (and anyone else that is my age)? :cool1:
Trenton :rockband:

Hi Trenton,

My son Noah just turned 9 a couple of weeks ago. He likes Yu-Gi-Oh, football, PlayStation and GameCube, and bowling. Maybe the 2 of you will be able to hang out at the Oceaneer's Lab together!

Karen

Hello all,
We are the couple that is going with Jen C. I am Trisha and my DH is Steve. Our sons, Rease and Braden (close, Jen!) will be 7 and 4, respectively, on the cruise. I am so excited to (1)get to see Jen and Mike again, (2) take my kids on their first cruise, and (3) be going eastern for the first time. Don't worry, we are going to have great weather. Remember, positive thoughts bring positive actions! It sounds good anyway.
Christal- Congrats on your upcoming graduation. My Dh is an architect. Good luck with your career. If you are near the S. Illinois area he would be glad to help you out if he can.
I am the most impatiant person but the boards help the time pass easier. Come on September!!!!! :jumping4:

Trisha

DH and I will be joining you all. We too were on the 9/18/04 Magic cruise. Had a wonderful time! Really enjoyed our short stay at the Dolphin. Can't wait to meet you all!

Wow we are getting quite a group now! Anyone with a son 10 (almost 11 at cruise time) or a daughter 12 that would like to get them together emailing please let me know. My son had a disboard friend on our last cruise and they had a ball together!

We were also hurricane Jeanne cruisers on the Magic last year and would love to hear how another line handeled it. Don't think for one minute DCL was without issues! It was pretty bad at some points..........however we know DCL and will give it another try with our discount  .

Please do make sure you all get insurance, it saved us a lot of money in the long run and made the whole trip easier to enjoy!

Have a good one,
missyoh8

Missy,
Princess didn't do a bang up job handling it. We got 30% and $100.00 toward next cruise (went up with catagories.) to use in a year. The problem was they kept saying the cruise is on, until we finally flew in and then surprise. No big deal, we drove over to Marco Island (loved it) and had a great time. I really wanted to do Eastern as I have done western 4 years in a row, but...mother nature. What I didn't like was that we got famously bad service and we had to work to have a good time in spite of it(we suceeded!) When we returned I was surprised to see a lot of people in our roll call experienced similar problems (eyes rolling, cursing, rude behavior). I wrot e Princess and they didn't care at all, so....no more Princess. I am sure it was an exception to their normally good service but it was my only experience with them.
It's all good now.....Disney here I come! We are so excited also to be taking our kids. They went in 2001, but not since then and I think they are getting old enough that we will truely enjoy being with them and they will make the vacation better for being there (atleast I hope).

Karen,
I think you are describing my child! They should get along great. He will be excited. They are a little trepidatious about being seperated by age. I keep telling them it won't be an issue, but knowing someone will be there, that likes what he likes should really help!

Does anyone know how to get the countdown thingies?

Hi all!
I forgot to mention before that we will be celebrating my husband's b-day while on board. That should be fun. :cake: :bday:
I have seen a few posts about a character breakfast. What exactly is that?
I know it is early but has anybody made any plans for St. Thomas and St. Martin yet?
Has anybody found a contructive way to pass the time til our cruise?! :bored:
Trisha

It's so exciting to see more names on here! :Pinkbounc

"(is there another Jen? Chrizjen?)"
-Yes, JenC! We'll just call her "Jen A" :D

And thanks, Trisha! I'm in St. Louis now, so not too far from southern IL. But after I graduate, we'll move wherever I can find work. So I may look you and your DH up in the future! LOL
Oh, and your DH's birthday on the ship should be lots of fun. There was a birthday at dinner on our last cruise, and they had lots of fun with it. The servers make it fun!

Anyway, let's keep 'em coming here! The more people we get here, the more exciting it gets! Can't wait for September!!! :Pinkbounc :jumping3: :bounce:

ChrizJen- I was born and raised in St. Peters, Mo. I still have family in the area. Are you from St. Louis or just going to school there? We usually fly out of St. Louis unless the rates are better from Nashville. So if you see any good rates, please let me know.
The wait until Sept. is going to drive me wild! :badpc:
Trisha

Thanks Christal, Let's see if it works! I put in the time we are leaving for Orlando because I thought it would be more accurate for us. So it is a little different than some of them. Welcome to ragdoll and all the others that popped in to say hello. Where are you from. We are out here in Highlands Ranch, CO (right outside of Denver).

Trisha-
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Dogtown to be exact. (in the city near clayton and richmond heights.) And now we live in south city. It's so exciting to meet people who are from around here. :cheer2:
I'll definitely be watching for good rates on flights. I haven't found anything great yet. I'll keep you posted.
-Christal

We are from Joplin, MO, me, DH & DD(3). Last year we flew out of Kansas City direct on Southwest and it worked out great, although the flight attendants told us we were the last flight out of Orlando before they closed the airport. DH and I will be celebrating our anniversary on 9/20 (#6). I hope we aren't the jinx. We were suppossed to get married on 9/18/99 in Indialantic, FL (just off Melbourne) but Hurricane Floyd ruined those plans and we flew off to Hawaii and got married there instead. Our friends couldn't believe we booked a cruise in hurricane season last year after our wedding experience, but as I mentioned before we thought the cruise last year was great and staying at the Dolphin, already being in Orlando, worked out great, I thought. Of course, we were very lucky and didn't get seasick like some. We took the patch last year and will again this year. Luckily DD didn't seem affected by it at all, but got sick one time in the car on the way home. Sea to land readjustment?? Also, we were midship on deck 2 (Cat. 9) and that seemed beneficial for the nighttime rocking, so we booked the same this year. I can't wait for the towel animals and chocolates on my pillow every night. We booked in December and early seating was gone, but last year we got it anyway when we arrived at the port. I've heard that is Disney "magic". Hope it works out this year, too. We did REAS last year and were pleased. Nice to make Palo reservations in advance, but we missed the pirate party night. Does anyone know how we can figure out what night is what activity so we can book Palo accordingly? Also, I was disappointed in the Spa. The only negative for me because of the hard sell they do on the products. I found it very UNRELAXING. We did the Allura catamaran sail and snorkel to St. John for our St. Thomas excursion last year and it was wonderful. I think we will try something different this year, but I certainly recommend that excursion. St. Martaan is new (Antigua last year) and we missed CC, so we'll have to see. Not a lot of excursions for 4yo's (DD will be 4 this summer) but we did leave her in Oceaneer's Club for the St. Thomas excursion last year and it was fine. She was just fine with that. Can't wait to meet everyone. I have a friend who just booked her family on a Disney cruise next month. She has never been. We're going to dinner tonight so I can give her all the scoop. I'm jealous that she's going so soon, but the anticipation is great too.
