Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Jenny, it reminds me of a story Phoebe and I read in one of her books abt a small child who goes on a walk looking for an angel and at the end of the story he realizes the angel is his mom. It's very sweet and your story shows how true it can be.

Then do you guys find time to read?? I am lucky to find time to watch an hour of TV a week!

Jenny...sorry about your care...but you are lucky to have such a wonderful sister:)

Lisa -- it takes me months to get through even one book, usually. And I don't watch TV. So, if I have down time alone -- it's a book or magazine. I'm hoping for a lot of that on the cruise. I need it.

I don't go to bed until about midnight and usually read from about 10-12 everynight. I read about 2 books a week. I love reading and that time to myself. The kids get older and things get easier, too.

Lisa - the shirt is free since it didn't cost me anything (I paid for one golf shirt and I got three by the time I ended up with the right size). Just think about returning the favor by passing on your now unused T-shirt to someone else on the board.

H*******e update. Ophelia seems to have listened to all of you on where to go! I just loved Brad's little song. Tracks are looking good - spaghetti model looks good - the loop-de-loop is still happening, just further north. Much further north. Disney seems prepared to sail from Port Canaveral tomorrow so all looks good! :wizard: is working!

I'm really excited! But I have 8 days left, not 7. Jenny - you and I will be the last people on this board Friday night saying ONE MORE DAY!

Packing is the plan for the weekend. FINALLY! DD4 is going off with her Dad for the weekend so I only have myself to blame if I'm not done by Sunday. Now if I can just stay away from this boards, I might actually get something done!

I'm also a reader - or at least I was before DD was born. I keep telling DNana that all I want is my chair on the verandah, a glass of wine and a good book. And NO stress! She thinks I'm nuts and should be busy, busy, busy going to a, b and c. Nope. Just want that little quiet, de-stressing downtime - with an "easy read" to keep me happy! I've booked DNana for a massage first thing Sunday morning so she will R-E-L-A-X (she's gives new meaning to type-A personality - but only in the morning because she's one of those extremely chipper EARLY morning people (think 5am)).

Sweet Sue

MSWWINT-- LOL!!! :rotfl:

As for reading...I'm trying to decide which books to pick up for the trip. I have a couple in mind...I think I've just about got all the rest of my running around done.

Jen -- There's this great place called chocolate soup...It's a children's clothing boutique over where I live off of Hampden...It is having a killer sale right now if there's anything you still need to pick up for your kids for the trip. I just picked up my four year old a few things. The summer stuff is 70percent off. And the clothes are soooo cute.

So glad to hear that Ophelia is moving on...

Lisa.

Oh my goodness, I miss a few days and there's a million pages to catch up on. Ok maybe not exactly a million, but pretty close! It's going to take days for me to get it all done. Hopefully I didn't miss too much fun! :cool1:

It looks like there are some new names on the board, so welcome to all the newcomers!

This week has been a crazy one and i'm sooooooooo :) it's finally over! On a good note, only 6 more days before we head to Karen D's!!!!
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Go away Ophilia!!!!!!!!!!! No Hurricanes allowed this time!!!!!!! :wizard:

Lisa, I know where Chocolate soup is Tiffany Plaza, right? Is it good for a 6yr old and a 9yr old or are they for younger kids? I have never shopped there.

Sue, That's what is great about cruising, something for everyone. Dance to the beat of your own drummer! :cool1: Dnana and I will get on fine ;) :rotfl2: I am not type A but I tend toward the "social" side.

Jen -- It's great for little girls of all ages...However, boys are more difficult. They have few things for boys, and even with that, just for small boys, probably 4 and younger, with occasional stuff for older boys.

I can't believe we only have 1 week to go!!!!! :cheer2:

I love books...but with a 1 yr old and working full time don't read like I did before. I do books on CD and with my long commute I get through a couple of those a week...next best thing! I do have my new Andy Andrews book to take on the cruise with me and hope it is as good as The Traveler's Gift...We'll see if I get time to read it!

We packed a few things last weekend...things like swimsuite etc. that we would not be needing. Wish more of my clothes fit so I could pack my outfits now!!!!! It is really sad when you are only packing for four days (laundry plan) and still can't do it too early!

Sunny Skies come our way!

I am also with the fly out early Sat AM group, so Jenny, you will not be alone. I doubt I will have much DIS board time on Friday, but I will be here in spirit...smile. We fly out on Saturday around 6:00 AM! I am tired just thinking about it!!!! But I'm sure when I see Mickey I will feel a second wind!!!

See you all in about a week!!!! WHOOOOO HOOOOOOO

Just hoppin in to say HI.... and ..... 7 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEA!!!!

Congrats on the docs/book Jenny... sorry about the car. But you won't need it in a week!! You'll be CRUISIN!!!!

Sue...ACK!!!! DNana is the kind of person I hiss at in the AM!!! :scared1:
No, I really can be a PEACH...just don't expect it until after 10AM! That's about when I start coming around. Even when I was a kid, my dear AM-loving Mother had to almost DRAG me out from under the cover to get up for school. And I am SOOOOO with you on the relaxation thing. That's my one and only goal for the trip. (I have a few excursions planned, and I may plan more on board) But all I need is a deck 4 longer and a good book. :goodvibes That is my idea of the perfect vacation! Just lazy me, the sun, the ocean, and a good book! (and I may be SO lazy that I bring my iPod and LISTEN to my books! Then I don't even have to open my eyes!!!) (this just keeps getting better!)

Jenny...sorry about the car headache. It's times like this that make you wonder how you would ever get by without your family! :grouphug:

OK, so what's the chain of command for next week? I'm assuming that whoever has internet access/updated weather channel-type info/contact with DCL will just call the next person in line, etc? (Here's :wizard: that we won't need it, and everything will be perfect and on schedule!) But just in case...
And Jen...check your PM in a few. I'm gonna have you put an alternate cell # on the list for us, if you can. (in case I'm not getting signal or whatever)

Have a GREAT weekend, all!
-Christal

One hour 'til the weekend. Having dinner with two of my friends tonight. Then, probably house-bound for the rest of the weekend -- playing and packing and playing and packing and...

I hope NOT to come up with any extra errands, but if I do, I think I'll make a list and give to DH b/c he's off all next week. 'Course he's trying to claim my car for the week. I've threatened to get personalized license plates that say "Momma" so he doesn't look so cool in it. I guess I should give him a break. He does drive the minivan. It was funny to hear him and our friend Brooks (a man) raving about minivans last weekend. Amy (Brooks' wife) is still in the minivan denial stage. Brooks had gone to Honda to look at Pilot's for her (they just had child #2) and he got into an Odyssey and was sold! You should have heard the table talk. "Minivans are awesome." "Once you get one you'll always want to have one." And on and on. Who would have guessed we would be talking like that?? Those who went before, I suppose. I love our Venture. I can't imagine what kind of heaven I'd be in if we had an Odyssey! OK, enough non-cruise rambling....Sorry. Need to refocus on my lipstick crisis. :flower1: :flower1:

Wendy, if you had an Odyssey, you'd really be fighting your husband for the van! I love mine... the XM radio is awesome. And it's so comfortable!!

Hoping to start packing this weekend. We leave home late Tuesday afternoon. Dh is packing his stuff on Monday because he can't leave work early Tuesday. We're flying out of San Jose early Wednesday morning.

Karen

Ok...I have a busy life, so I never post (although not as busy as Missy). But I have been pretty excited about going on this cruise this week so I have been reading your posts this week.

First of all, Missy introduced me to "HIM" last month. I really like “HIM", but just not in the morning. It seems as though I can't get enough of "HIM" at night and then he repulses me in the morning.

Second of all, Missy and I look like twins, so when you see her in her string bikini and think it might be MaryOh8, just remember, her bathing suit is silver and mine is gold.

Looking forward to next week.

Mary

Lets see, 2 swimsuits, one t-shirt(FFC shirt) and a pair of sandles.

Okay, I am packed and ready to go.

Do I Read?

I read alot!

Everyday I have about three pages of posts to read to catch up with you all..... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay, I am mailing out the last FFC list this weekend....so if you want one, send me your e-mail by Sunday, if you want to update or include a phone number, send it to me by Sunday. Christal, I got your PM.

Michelle, I will send yours out right now. I can't believe you are leaving soon.

I just watched the weather channel and it looks like Ophelia is headed between the Georgia border and North Carolina....sure hope no one is in her path. She has been upgraded to a hurricane again but not a bad one yet. Trisha (my little hurricane slave) still plan on bringing the knee pads for feet kissing but it looks like you may not need to use them :cool1:
Steve, Might want to throw in some deoderant....we are right next door...and some cards!

I have a question for you non-Steve types. I mean people like me that actually pack a SUITCASE on a trip vs. a kid's backpack worth of clothes.

WHAT do you do with the long dresses? (Yes Steve, we know you look adorable in them - but really, I want to chat with the girls now). I saw a "gown" garment bag on the internet but don't know if I should pay the extra $ to get the thing shipped. Ideas?

Sweet Sue (who has now spent 1 hour on the internet trying to find the cheapest "garment gown bag" - hating to spend even one more cent on this formalwear thing... especially to get expedited delivery since I waited too long)
