Sept 17 2005 Magic - am i alone on the ship?

Well just got back from Wal-Mart..working on the list thing. Between all the childrens meds and adult small items needed...WHEW!!! Could have bought a tank of gas But I go along with Jen's DH we're going to go and have a WONDERFUL time, we're not going to make money a big issue either. DH surprised me tonight when he purchased me a digital camera...YEAH!!! Different one than the one I had asked for seems he was doing some secret looking on his own. got a good comparison and went for it!! All this time I've been calling him a pirate and he came through for me he's the best He told the kids to get anything they needed...WOW!!! Someone has invaded my husbands body and sent in Mr. Big Spender!!!! When they come to reclaim this unknown being from his body I'm not going to let him leave!!

We're staying at the Radission on Friday night, we'll arrive around 3-4 as soon as DS walks in from his college class we're out of here and on vacation!! If anyone is staying there we'll be the crazy group at the pool with an excited (almost) 4 year old. There are six of us total so you can't miss us. Cannot wait

Gas here is still at $2.99..can't believe it held at that for 24 hours

My DD wants to go to New Orleans and offer her assistance, I believe in December she will go with others to do that very thing. She just can't stand it, these people are at their rock bottom, their world is a living hell right now. They are in our prayers everyday. She's not allowed to go right now till they allow foot volunteers inside the area. When DD graduates she wants to work in the pediatric cancer center.

I called DS(15)'s school today to find out what I need to do about him being absent for vacation. They sent a form home...said it really needed to have 10 days advance notice...but since they just started Tuesday, they did not give me a hard time about it. Anyways, our school district allows each student one approved trip of 10 school days or less per year without loss of academic standing. I was kind of worried when I read the threads of others on the cruise regarding taking children out of school...but dosen't look like we have anything to worry about.

Part of me is thinking, don't post about the hurricane. It's depressing. However, it is a part of the world at present, so I think it makes that we all have a place to come here and vent. I will say that what I know (and all I know, without comment on other looting) is that it makes absolutely zero sense to steal a big screen tv. Walmart's gun section was wiped out before the food was. People who are shooting the national guardsmen. Women are being raped. What? I just don't think that makes any sense and I don't see how that's bettering the situation for anyone.

Tammy, how kind of your DD. Sounds like she's got a big heart.

Sue, I'm glad you're okay. The reminders are for the DIS signs, so I'll put you down for one. And how fun to see a category 4! Woo hoo!

Lisa (10...), so glad to see you back! Keep up that resolution!

I don't have much else to report. Busy weekend. I am supposed to go to a friend's reception in Ft Wayne, Indiana. It's a 3.5 hour drive there. I just feel so torn. I rarely get to see my friend (she lives in Lincoln, NE), but gosh.

I am looking forward to the cruise. Am I the only one left to dance? I've always been one to enjoy the spotlight.

ETA: Tammy, how fun for the camera! What a nice surprise.
Lisa (in columbus), I'm glad your kids won't be in trouble or get bad treatment for missing school. It will be so nice to vacation as a family, I'm sure.

There was no gas available here today. Sure hope that changes soon. Luckily I have about 3/4 tank in my car and a full tank in my dh's truck so I could last for awhile but it just makes you nervous that there isn't any for sale. I agree Jenny, I don't understand how shooting at relief workers is going to better the situation. Tragedy brings out the best and unfortunately the worst in people. I also think the lack of communication is one of the biggest problems because none of the victims has any idea that the destruction is so widespread. Each area believes they are being abandoned. -Donna

I can't imagine not having access to gas. In my little bubble.....well I hope it doesn't burst I hope you get gas soon. Does it have to do with what Jenny was talking about, the pipelines? Or just not enough gas? I have also heard they may use cruise ships to house people. Our cruise ship? I hope not....so as long as the airport is open, there is no h****** and the ship is still there.....ONLY 2 MORE WEEKS!
We are giving ourselves permission on this board to be selfishly excited about our upcoming trip (even though we know there are people suffering)

The New Orleans thing really has me upset. Yuck, I clean our basement rec room tonight -- have friends coming on Sat to spend the night and hang out. They have a 2 year old and a 4 month old, so our DD will think she's quite the big girl at 4! I've got my menus all planned and groceries purchased. This is a big deal for me b/c I'm not much of a cook (cereal and milk is my ideal of a full meal), but all of a sudden in the past few months, I've been getting excited abt cooking and planning menus out, so we'll see how I do...

Donna, congrats on your docs. Jenny, they're coming, they're coming. Paul, you must be really excited to see DW. This is a reunion trip for both you and Donna. Yay!

DH has been dying to see Ladder 49 -- we missed it at the theatres -- so I hope it is still playing for our cruise. We didn't watch one movie last year. Too much to do during the day and we all went to bed pretty early. I considered staying up to see King Arthur for a midnight showing one night, but fell asleep, never made it out of my room. Don't know if we'll do it this year either. Just wait and peruse the Navigators I suppose.

You are right Jen. I need this vacation and so does DH. We have both been just cranky and snappy with each other and it's b/c we've both got so much on our plates. Anyway, we need this cruise just to unwind, not make decisions, and enjoy each other and our precious DD without the pressures of day to day life. We need to learn from the Europeans and take more vacations! More vacations! More vacations!

Good morning everyone! It is offically two weeks from today until we head to Orlando! I am getting so excited

DH was telling me more about the New Orleans floods last night. I am not much of a news watcher...it depresses me too much. I would just rather not know! I watched it one night this week...but not since then. I just want to know when it is all over and done with...I hope that does not make me a bad person

DS(1&3) and I went to the pool last night after work. It was really nice out! We are going again today DS(15) is going to the HS football game and tailgate party.

Boy did I have it out with Verizon last night! DH, DS and I got new cell phones and apparently there is this thing called Get It Now where you can download ring tones...I had no idea what it was! Anyways, we knew that you get charged for the downloads...but Verizon never explained that you get charged airtime for browsing and looking for the downloads! To make a long story short...we went over out minutes by 150 due to this Get It Now crap The lady really made me mad when she said we should have been downloading the stuff during 'off-peak' I told her if we would have known...we would have In the end they gave me a $75 credit on my bill OK enough venting!

Good morning all. Today is my brothers birthday. My family (Jim, Jessica and Christopher and I) are taking him to the Canadian National Exibition. It is a yearly fair, open the last two weeks in August. Lots of fun.

Donna - congrats on the docs - aren't you with allseas. I am, and still no docs. I will blame it on the extra travel distance to Canada.

Lisa M. - My husband is a teacher. He teaches high school.

I am booked for the Disney Magic for Sept 17, 2005, today is Fri. Sept 2, 2005 and I have to start unpacking my bags . I recieved all my documents Wed. August 31 of 2005, I packed my bags early to make sure I had everything. I believe I took that everything a little to far so now I have to unpack my bags to take out clothes to wear for the next 15 days. At least I packed a new tooth brush and I was going to continue to use the old one while home, I know a lot of you'll are happy about that . I hope everyone got a little smile and or laughter out of this post. I look forward to seeing you all on the Disney Magic Sept. 17, 2005. As far as my packing again I'll repack the day before the cruise and make sure I am dressed when I do so,,,, Oh and I'll also remember to leave clothes out for ( the next day) tomorrow.
