Sept. 11th, 2004!!! Roll Call!

4Sedgs,

Yes, the ship offers pin trading several times throughout the cruise. Just check your Navigator or ask at Guest Services once on board!

Lopezgang,

I agree with ThreeSmiths...your daughter's dress sounds just perfect for formal night. Your entire family will look great.

Well, I'm off to exercise. It recently occured to me that I should "shape up before I ship out!" I can't believe we'll be sailing in just over two weeks! :earsgirl:

Does anyone have any details on the new themed evening, Pirates Night?pirate: Does it replace Mexicali, or is it in addition to it. I've read conflicting reports.

Everyone sounds like they're pretty busy from now until we set sail. I am leaving tomorrow for a 'girl's weekend' with my 3 sisters (first time hubby will be home alone overnight with my son!!!) until Sunday evening and then leave again Tuesday to go camping until Tuesday the 7th! No, I haven't packed and probably won't do so until the 8th or 9th. I think I know what I'm bringing, but we'll see if I need to do some last-minute shopping once the time comes to put everything in a suitcase.

I spent about 20 minutes this morning copying our Birth Certificates, my passport, our photo IDs and credit cards. I figured I should have a copy of everything, just in case.

I can't believe how many people from the boards are going on the same excursion! That should be fun. We decided instead of booking an excursion, to explore the ports on our own since Hunter is so young. We figured it would make it easier on us if he decides he's hungry or tired-no commitments means we can return to the ship at any time.

Anyway, I can't wait to see y'all on the boat! Have a great weekend!

Sarah

I just wanted to add...I don't think your daughter will stand out in a pure white dress....My girls will also be wearing white dresses for formal night...also left over from a wedding they were in. ;) ..I just had to send them out to the dry cleaners...to get them freshend up....Now if I only knew how to transport the dresses to the ship...Any Ideas??? I know I have seen people cary items such as dresses and things onto the plane...becauses they have someplace they can hang them...but would this count as your carry on? Or what?? Any one know??

OMG!!!! I just checked out our countdown clock!!! Were down to single digits!!! I can't beleive how fast it is going....and I still have SOOOOO much work to do. AHHHHH where to start!!!

:earseek:

Oh...anyone know what night "pirate" night is?pirate:

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
The UPS man just came!!!! We have our documents!!!! I filled out everything that we need to so now we are ready to go!!! Do you think it would be wierd to sit by the door till it was time to go? ::yes::
Has anyone heard about any bad weather comming?? I've been trying to keep on top of the storms and I think we are good to go.....

I CAN"T WAIT!!!!

-nat :earsgirl: & baby :cloud9:

Lopezgang, my DD is wearing an all white dress for formal night too. I was worried about the same thing, she would look like she is in a wedding, but like ThreeSmiths said, it is formal night and when else would she be able to wear it. Sounds very pretty!

Ok, I think we are the only ones going on the early stingray excursion. I contemplated the 10:00 excursion, but my DH really wanted to go early and then this gives me a little more time to shop! I was not sure about doing the dune buggy excursion, I too thought it was too much money, but DS, DD and DH were too excited about this - so we decided to book it. I just hope it is as fun as it sounds.

I have started putting things together and buying anything we might still need, so I am off to a start - a very slow start, but at least it is something.

Yes, Jimmy Buffett is going to be a wonderful way to get us in the mood for this vacation! It looks like the weather is going to be beautiful for the concert!:teeth: I cannot wait!! This and the cruise are the two things I have been looking forward to all summer and now they are both here. Yeah!!!

Well, I better stop chatting and get some more packing done.

See you all in two weeks

:jumping1:

Okay...tell me is anyone else overwhelmed with this packing thing?? I realy don't know where to start. I don't want to have things packed up to soon...for fear of wrinkling to much....also how in the world do we get our formal outfits there??? Anyone have ballpark figures $$$ on steaming and/or pressing on the ship?? I'm thinking of a plan... I'm going to start packing one person at a time...little steps and I'll get there.:p I just have to keep telling myself that. Little steps...one at a time...

You guys are all so good. I try to start packing and then I just stand there thinking, what if I need that. About the only things I have packed are lanyards and snorkle gear. I really need to get on the ball. My husband found out he needed to be in Miami on Sep 8th for business so he changed his ticket and is just going to meet us in Orlando on the 10th. Then yesterday he was informed that he has to be in Dallas on the 7th so he changed his ticket again. Now he goes to Dallas on the 7th, Miami late on the 8th and finally meets us in Orlando on the 10th. I should feel sorry for him but I'm already stressed about how I'm going to help the kids with all their homework (especially math since I'm pretty sure Ive long since forgotten the math my 13 DD is doing) and how he is going to get everything packed that early. I always end up putting lots of extra stuff in his suitcase because he packs so light. I guess he may get to take the snorkel gear with him, or my daughter my use his large suitecase and he can take a smaller one. Too many decisions!

scrapperjill- from what I've heard sending your clothes for pressing is not very expensive. On another thread I think someone said they sent all of their clothes for $40. There is also an iron and ironing board in the laundry rooms and I bring my own travel steamer. Hopefully you won't have too many problems. Downy Wrinkle Releaser works great too on things that don't need a sharp crease. We travelled across country in May with my daughter's flower girl dress (so glad it's going to work) and my son's tux in a regular garment bag and they were both just fine.

Still no documents!

Can't wait to see you all soon!

Lopezgang...When you travled with your kids items in the garmet bag...did you check those or carry them on the plane in the garmet bag?? And if you carried them on did they count as your "carry on".

Just trying to find out some options. Thanks.

We checked them. We also had my bridesmaid dress and my DH's suit. Everything travelled well. The only thing that we ironed was my DH's shirt. We have the garment bag that folds over in the middle and then zips all around. We've never had a problem with it. I bought it for our last cruise at one of the luggage places in the mall for about $50. We use it often now so it was a good investment.
Hope that helps.

I just found the following info, as I was wondering the same thing:

Dry Cleaning:

Pants $4.25
Jackets $4.50
2 piece suit $7.00
Shirts $3.50
Ties $2.00
Evening Dress $8.00
Skirt $4.50
Blouses $4.00

Laundry prices:

Shirts $3.00
Pants $3.50
Short Pans $2.50

There is a "pressing only" service at 50% of dry cleaning cost.
Regular Service is next day by 5 pm

Hope this helps!

Stacy

We take a steamer travel iron with us. It has worked well each time. The irons on board weren't the best last time I cruised, but I would guess they change them out periodically.

Almost cruisin' time!!!::yes::

Ok I am also overwhelmed with the whole packing thing. I do not know what to pack and what not to. I am afraid that I will forget something, but do not want to overpack either. UGH!! I guess we will all figure something out.

Two weeks from today1:bounce: Here I am at My friend Diane's again. (DMom too) Diane plans to sit on the verandah with tea and a book. My mother plans to sit in a deck chair sleeping just like the guy in the DCL commercial!:rotfl:

As for carry ons if you take a garment bag and carry it it does count as your carry on. We use a large folding garment bag and check it through and it always comes out fine!
::yes::

Have to go. Company is almost here (they just called from the ferry.) (Diane lives on Shelter Island and you have to take an 8 minute ferry ride to get here.) Off to yard sales, craft show and fire department 'Country fair' and pig raost. This week I am not serving anything (I hope).
TTFN :smooth:

TraSee - I have not checked these sights out. They look great! I will definitely be checking them out while I pack. Thanks! Just think 2 weeks from today we will have all finally met, hopefully. :D I cannot wait. Oh well, I just wanted to check in, I need my DIS fix each day. Now it is off to get ready for Jimmy Buffett!! :fish: :drinking1 :boat:

Good Morning, Fellow Cruisers.

As we complete hurricane-preparedness procedures around here, there is Frances just waiting to pounce. Please start praying for good weather. I have a bad feeling about the weather. For everyone inclined to sea-sickness, pack extra medication. The seas will probably be bumpy.

Wet & windy in Myrtle Beach,

Chip, Joannie, Holly & Harrison

MBMom,
I hope that Gaston doesn't cause too much damage. Everyone on next week's cruise is worried about Frances. As long as we get on the ship I don't care where we go! I'm sure that the captain will find sun for us.
359 hours from now we'll be docking in Key West! (Barring any last minute tropical storms.;) )

Off to check the Key West web cam!

:smooth:

Ok, can everybody believe that the next western cruise that sets sail will have us on it? It is so close, we are almost down to single digits here. I can't believe it is so close. Well, our plans have changed a little bit, originally we were going to wait for the kids to get out of school, and for us to get out of work and leave around 5 on the 9th, then it went to noon, now, it's 10 am :-) woo hoo... for some reason, the kids didn't think they could concentrate in school knowing we were going, so, first thing that morning, I run the dog, 8 month old, 80 pound, shepherd/dane mix, by the name of Captain Jack Sparrow, and the kitty, 1 year, 15 pounds, by the name of Mitch (short for Mickey-Stitch) to the kennel, for their vacation, and we take off. Driving to Whythville, Virginia the first night, then on to Titusville, for the night before the cruise.

Can't wait to be on the Magic.

Angie

NancyDVC...you take care there as Gaston approaches. We are still trying to get over Charley here in Central Florida. :crazy2:

I feel, and I hope I am right, that the Hurricane Center will be extra cautious on this one. Not only because of its strength, but because many here in FL feel they did not give us proper warning on Charley. They're only human and you never know what Mother Nature is going to do!

So prayers go out that Frances finds a path that causes the least damage and chaos. (Zero damage would be wonderful!!)

Have a great Sunday all...Key West 2 weeks from now!:thewave:
