Sept. 11th, 2004!!! Roll Call!

Welcome MBMom!

We will be travelling with our DD 7, Kaylee, who is excited to meet friends on Mickey's Boat! We are bringing our own snorkle gear just to save $ on rentals. I've heard that there are good areas to snorkle right off some of the beaches, so why not? I hope we'll see you at Mickey's Pool at 3 pm!

Tammyh, your flight time going home is perfect. We had a 3:00 flight last time and it was hard to find stuff to do before hand. We were back to Orlando about 10:00 am. Also, we brought crayons, coloring books, game boy (although yours are probably still to little) and a computer to watch movies on the plane the last few times we flew. The kids do get bored pretty quick. If I think of anything else I will let you know. Good Luck!

TraSee, my dress was not going to be too formal, basic black floor length, but I found another dress that is dressier. I was not sure if I was going to keep it, but figured why not. I don't get to play dress up too often.

MBMom, we are bringing our own snorkel gear. My DH used Disneys last year and said that the mask was not that good. He had to keep stopping and clearing it out as it filled with water. Also, the thought of other people using the same gear? Yuk! I know they clean them, but its better to be safe.

I need to start my packing list too. I guess I better get of the computer and get started!

Kathy

TammyH,

Do you have a portable DVD? We fly every few months with our 20 month old son. We never took one along until our last trip (a few weeks ago!) What a life saver. It kept him happy for about two hours of turbulence. I wish we had started bringing it along much sooner. Live and learn. Also, how about portable Magna Doodles. He loves to draw and with a magna doodle, there is no mess. Crayola makes "messless markers" which are cool, too.

We've flown Orlando to Palm Springs through Dallas. Dallas is spread out, but offers trams between terminals. And, it is really drab and dreary. I'd much rather have to make a mad dash (which I've had to do twice) for my flight than spend hours there layed over. We had a 4 hour layover there when our son was five months old...he looked terrible after spending such a long period in that stale air! I'll keep my fingers crossed all goes well for you in Dallas.

As everyone else has noted, your departure flight time is really perfect. Debarkation with DCL is a breeze...depending whether you have early seating, you can be off the ship by 8am. The airport is a quick one hour (or less) drive.

Lastly, welcome aboard! Good luck with your pre-cruise planning and the flight out! I'm sure it will all go well...and once you are sailing, you'll know it was all worth it, anyway.:teeth:

Ok, looking at my counter, and I'm under 20 days, ok, not by much, but still at the 19 day mark...... and, then it's down to single digits.... and then..... sun and fun on the magic. We're leaving from Michigan by van, sometime on the 9th, which is 19 days away, that sounds so good, I've been packed for 2 weeks, just me, everybody else thinks I'm nuts, and I'm ready to go....

Angie

We're bringing our own snorkel equipment also. We have it and I know it fits.

I was asked yesterday to go be a roofing QA in FL to assist in recovery efforts after Charley. I had to decline since it was a 30 day assignment.

Felt a little guilty but I can't miss my cruise!

4sedgs...Living here in Florida and right in the middle of the path of Charley, I can tell you that we would have loved to have your help BUT don't feel guilty for another minute! We have a lot of people that have arrived and we have to look at the positives that came out of Charley...all of the help we are receiving and kind people like you that would have given of your time and talent if you could have. Thank you!:D

Now...push that guilt away and think of sipping margaritas on a Deck 4 chair!:sunny:

4sedgs,
Oh 12 hours in a car! Yikes, maybe we can meet after dinner. We hope to be at Grills by 5:00.

TammyH, As other folks have said Dallas is a B-I-G airport. When I flew through there to the west coast my frined and I kept seeing these golf carts go past as the drivers asked if anyone needed a lift. We thought it was a nice thing but not for us. Later as we realized how far it was to the next gate we could not find one that wasn't loaded and regreted not having taken the ride when one was available.
As for Atlanta. everytime I have to fly through there it seems as if my arrival gate is at the end of one concourse and my departure gate is at the end of a totally different concourse! That means having to walk to the center of the concourse, go downstairs and either take the 'subway' (sort of like the monorail at MCO but below ground) or walk to the proper concourse (again through this below ground passage) and then go back upstairs and walk through the proper concourse. Lots of walking no golf catrs that I recall. The concourses are only connected at the lower level.
Someday I will have the avantage of arriving at one gate and connecting to a flight at the adjacent gate!::yes:: (And both are still better than United at Dulles where there is a mid airport terminal accessible only by a special 'concourse bus'-sort of a moving terminal thing!)

I am staying at my best friend Diane's house this weekend and typing this on her computer. She has been lurking on the boards this past week because I typed in the DISboard address and it stays in the address bar. She said that these boards are very interesting and she can't believe how much information there is! But she won't join the discussion because she dosen't think she can keep up! I'll try and work on her. Maybe after she meets all of you she'll change her mind!:wave2:

Is anyone doing the dune buggy tour with Travelnotes in Cozumel? What about the 11:15 Stingray tour in CI w/ Capt Marvins? Is anyone scuba diving?
Thanks, Angela

ASROBERTS-

My DH is doing the scuba dives in GC and Cozumel. He got certified just for this trip, so he's very excited about going. It was so expensive to get him certified (buying equipment, classes and all) that I thought it best that I wait until next year to get certified.

We are doing the Capt Marvins snorkel/stingray city excursion at 1:45. Can't wait for that!:hyper:

Thanks all for easing my mind about our flight reservations. I feel much better after hearing what you have said. One last question for those with younger children.

My kids will be 2 years 11 months when we board. I understand that they are too young for the Kids Club since they must be 3. Also, they are nowhere near being potty trained! I have tried so hard but it's a no go right now.

In any case, my twins have been in full time day care since they were 10 months old and are very easy going and can handle themselves around children their own age.

I am hoping that Disney might let me visit and stay with my kids in the club each day if there is space available. We are on Deck 5 which should make it easy to visit.

Is there anything that I need to know about this?

Again, thanks everyone for you help! See you in a few weeks!

 Where did summer go??? I finaly went shopping today and couldn't find anything!!!! I'm in big trouble!!! Oh well... I'll just be the one in the same clothes every day ::yes::

O-By-The-Way I heard someone upset about having to drive 12hours..... we are driving from Chicago... It is going to take us 19-20hours... :earseek: WE WIN!!!

I can't wait!!!

ASRoberts, We just booked the dune buggy tour through cozumelhomes.com. We are also doing the stingray excursion with Captin Marvins, but we are doing the 8:30 am cruise.

Natale1980 - you do win. That is a long drive. We did it once, and although not a bad drive, it is long. Good Luck!

Scrapperjill, you and your family are in our thoughts.

Kathy

We're driving from Michigan, 24 hours to do the drive, normally straight through, although we are actually making 2 stops this year on the way down. 6 people, in a van, 24 hours, with a few breaks here and there. Ya know, I can't wait for the drive.... it just means closer to bein on the Magic :-)

:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: It feels so good to be back home. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Sydney durring her hospital stay. She remained a trooper through the whole thing. Came through her surgery on Thursday with flying colors...and was up playing around on Friday. We do have to go back to Children's right before we head out on the trip...for a check up...and we have lots of follow up apointments back here in town this week. But for now we are just glad to be back at home....not to mention our pets missed us real bad.

I have a couple questions for all you experts....how do we go about getting a fridge in the room? Sydney is going to be on a few meds that have to be kept cold. I already sent in the medical forms for her...and at that time we wern't on any special "cold" meds.

And...I was also wondering about the formal wear....I have a couple dresses...one that I'm just not sure of. I really like it and everything...but I'm just not sure...It's blue...I was looking for some thing black or dark...but found a light blue instead....So on formal night do most people dress black and white..or is there alot of color?? The dress I was going to wear for formal night is a dark burgundy, floor length evening gown. This other one (the blue one) is also floor length... but sleeveless...they both could be considered "formal"...but the blue one is a little more formal...where the burg..one is more...I don't know... elegant maybe? . I figure if I wear the blue one to formal night I can wear the burg one on semi formal night. So I'd like to here more about what everyone is wearing to those dinners. :D ...Oh and what about the guys...what are they wearing?

Sandi --

Hooray!

:cheer2:

Welcome Home! I'm sure being back at home is good medicine for all of you!

About the fridge, did you try calling your TA to see if he/she could help you with the request? Or maybe just call DCL directly. I'm sure that they will accomodate you.

This being our first cruise, I don't have personal experience about the formal wear, but my neighbor who just cruised the Magic earlier this summer said that she saw a little bit of everything on formal and semi-formal night. She wore a red cocktail dress on formal night and a tropical-print dress (a little dressier than a sundress, she said) on semi-formal night. Her DH wore a suit and tie on formal night and a shirt with tie on semi-formal night. She said that some men wear tuxes, but she thought most wore suits.

Your dresses both sound beautiful, and I'm sure that either will be appropriate for both nights!

Get packing, girl, you don't have much time left! :hyper:

(Kaylee says "Hi" to Sydney) princess:

Welcome home to Scrapperjill and Sydney! Great to have you back with good news. Did Sydney pull off all the days from her paper chain?

My formal is floor length, deep wine colored also. I also have a black dress, but didn't like it as well. I was thinking about wearing the wine color dress for formal and the black dress for semi-formal night.

My husband is wearing a dark suit. DS7 is wearing a black suit and DS12 will be wearing blue blazer and khakis. I didn't buy him anything new except dress shoes. DS7 will be wearing black tennis shoes since I don't want to waste too much money. He is spazzing that he has to wear dress clothes. He is the original T-shirt, shorts, and flip-flop kind of guy. Thank goodness we live at the beach and he doesn't look out of place. I still need to buy his black tennis shoes and a dress shirt for his suit. DS12 needs to try on his dress shirt to see if it fits. Wilmington is very casual.

We have reservations for Capt. Marvin's 10 AM snorkeling trip to Stingray City. The email says to be there about 9:15. No one wanted to do anything in Cozumel. We're going to play it by ear there. My son wants to parasail so we may go to the beach via taxi. Brad and I know Key West very well so we're going to do our own thing with the boys there.

That's the latest Sedgwick plan.

P.S. After hearing about the 24 hour trip my 12 sounds pretty good!

We're doing Capt. Marvin's at 10am also! Along with aaronamy!:sunny:

Well, I did change my mind about semi-formal night. Still wearing my simple black dress on formal night but for semi-formal, I found a cute black/brown tropical looking skirt and I had a black top to go with it! That way I can wear the same pair of shoes for both nights!

Not doing the suit thing for my DH! Would be pain to pack and not worth it, so like the last 2 cruises, he'll wear nice slacks with a long sleeve shirt and tie! He looked great last time and will again!::yes::
You'll see a bit of everything on that ship!:wave2:

Did anyone else book with Dreams Unlimited and still not receive docs? I called last week and they said they still hadn't been printed and not to worry unless I don't get them by the 30th!!! I am freaking out a little.

We are doing the full day snorkel with Capt. Marvins. Hopefully we will be able to get off the ship quick as we're supposed to be there by 8:15.

We are going to Paradise Beach in Cozumel. Just taking it nice and easy as I will be huge (5 months pregnant).

Can't wait to meet everyone. My son is looking forward to the kids club. Hopefully, he won't change his mind once he gets there.

Sounds like 10 am Captain Marvin's is THE time and place to be! I bet we're going to have a blast.

Like I said before we're thinking about just going to the beach at Cozumel - Playa Sol or Paradise.

Does anyone know if you can parasail at one of the beaches?
