Sept. 11th, 2004!!! Roll Call!

I think some that booked w/ dreams have already received their documents! Did you book last minute perhaps?

We are thinking of going to Mr. Sanchos at Cozumel. From what I've heard, they do have parasailing there! Not sure about the 2 other beaches you mentioned!

We booked with Dreams 16 months ago! Hopefully our docs will show up this week. My DH thinks I'm crazy because I organize everything and put it all in one folder and I'm going nuts because I don't have the most important information. Maybe today!

lopezgang - I don't know what the hold up is but I'm sure you'll have them very soon!

::yes::

I MUST stay off these boards and get some work done!!!

12 hrs, 19-20 hrs, 24 hrs in a car? Oh my am I glad that we are flying in.
We booked through DVC and still no docs here! The lady my friend spoke to at DVc said don't worry unless they don't show up 5 days before! 5 days before is a holiday! And they are supposed to go to my friend's house and she is leaving for my house 4 days before! Am I obsessing too much?

Welcome Home Scrapperjill and Sydney. Glad all went well.

No stingrays for us. My Mom says no way and my friend is not a water person. So we are debating about the bus tour/turtle farm thingy.

Nothing planned for Cozumel except shopping. We plan to do the Old Town Trolley in Key West (on our own so we can get on and off). And use some of the coupons Shirley sent for shopping!

As for formal wear, I look terrible in black so the outfit I have is shades of green-a pants suit with long jacket. Semi formal will be one of 2 long dresses spiffed up with accessories. Nothing really fancy. I think my Mom will out do both of us with her beige satin skirt and fancy sweater. ::yes:: Tropical shirt and slacks for Tropical/Pirate night (Pirates are in the tropics, Right?)

Less than 3 weeks to go Yippee!!!!!
:jumping1:

Scrapperjill, Sydney and family - Welcome Home! I am glad everything went well for you.

I also have two floor length dresses. One I will be wearing to formal - it is different shades of teal green and white with flowers and beading on it. It is more elegant than my other dress which is black. I will probably wear that one for semi-formal night. My DH is wearing a tux for formal (I got it on Ebay for $40.00) and a suit for semi formal.

Lopezgang & NancyDVC- I hope you get your docs soon. We booked through allseasons travel and got our docs a little over a week ago. Did you have a room assigned? Maybe that is making the difference.

I cannot believe it is less than three weeks away! I am praying for good weather!

Kathy

Scapperjill --

I was reading my Passporter Guide (again) and they say that all rooms come with a refrigerator which is small, but does the job.

Kaylee (DD) and I have booked the Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel and then Sealion swim after that. We're very excited! DH will be doing the Scuba dive instead.

I absolutely cannot wait for the Stingray City trip! Everyone I've talked to who's done it says it should not be missed!

I haven't rec'd my docs yet either...every day I check the doorstep as soon as I get home, but no dice. I booked thru a TA, and have a GTY, maybe that's the delay. I haven't pestered my TA yet, she said they'd arrive 2 to 3 weeks before departure. So I'm waiting for that 2 week mark before I call.

Time to get off the boards and go to bed :o

From the sounds of it the "fridge" in the room is a "beverage cooler" that doesn't alway keep things very cool at all...But I know you can get a actual mini fridge in the room for med purposes. I just wasn't sure what we needed to do to get it. I think I'd better call our TA and see what she can do.

We are also doing the Capt. Marvins thing at 10am...sounds like it will be a full boat.:D We had thought about doing the all day one...but decided to just do the half day.

I have so much work to do now that we are back at home....with the trip and everything. I was doing so well...but kind of lost my umph...and organization somewhere in the last two weeks. And to add to the work load...we have doctors apointments almost evey day this week and some more next week....that along with school starting....Oh My!! Where do I start.

Well I guess I'd get alot more done...if I wasn't sitting on the computer...Hee hee hee. :teeth:

:teeth:

Scrapperjill:

My TA told me about the refrigerator for my husband's insulin. I sent in his medical form with the refrigerator listed as a special need for storing his meds. My TA told me about this because it is evidently a big deal to take sharps on board. I think all you need to do is send in another med form to DCL with the new meds and the refrigerator noted on the form.

I guess we'll both find out if this works when we get to our cabin. We may both be trudging to the ice machine a couple of times a day.

Oh my Gosh! I just logged on and I can't belive there are only 17 days left, where has time gone and how am I going to get everything done! The great thing about cruising is once the ressie rush is over there is nothing to do but relax:goodvibes

Lopezgang- I booked thru Dreams and recieved my documents at least 2 weeks ago. I think I would call them again. I think mine were sent directly from DCL. That was the return address on my package anyway. Hope you get them soon!

Scrapperjill - glad Sydney is doing so well. Our cooler in our room stayed pretty cold and I hear some people take gal. baggies and fill them with ice to keep in the cooler and cool it down a little. If you don't get your fridge that would probably work.

Sounds like we'll be seeing a number of you on the 10:00 capt. marvin trip. I think we will do Mr. Sanchos beach in Cozumel and some shopping. The Dune buggys sound great but I didnt want to spend the money.:sunny:

Hi all...just back from Boston on a business trip and flew Song for the first time. Anyone else fly them before? They were great! They had tv...just like Jet Blue...with about 18 stations. They had a music trivia game that allows you to play against the other people on board. That was a blast! And they had about 15 different music channels to choose. I am certain I was the only over 40 woman listening to the Disney selections! It was a great way to relax as I thought of myself eating souffle and relaxing on those Deck 4 chairs or on my verandah!!:cloud9:

Scrapperjill and Sydney...glad to hear things went well! Just my thoughts on the "coolers" in the rooms....I don't think they get very cold. They do fine for what I need, but I wonder if they reach temps low enough to keep your medicine safe.

My DH and I will be on the Capt. Marvin's at 10am with a bunch of you...can't wait!!

Have a great week all!:sunny:

Kathy,
Yes, we have a room assigned 6098. And still no docs here:( . I keep saying "Don't freak out these things take time. You will get them soon."

Scrapperjill, I would check with your TA or DCL directly about the fridge. From what I have read on the DISabilities board you need to request a fridge for meds. The beverage coolers just won't keep things cool enough.

TraSee,
We are flying Song for this trip. A music channel that plays Disney? Wow! Another mature adult here who will be listening to Disney music. I have gotten so tired of trying to find a radio station in central FLA that I can enjoy that I decided to bring Disney tapes two years ago. There we were in our rental car with the tapes all set and guess what? It only had a CD player! The following year we took CDs and yes you guessed it only a tape player. This year I took both tapes and CDs and the car had both players!:tilt: We played Disney music all the way to Port Canaveral to see the Wonder! It just fit the mood.;)

Now I am trying to get more organized. Not packing yet but putting clothes aside to decide what to bring. Reading "all the best tips summarized" here as well as every packing list on every cruise related website. I may need 2 large steamer trunks (like the ones they always show in those very old movies when folks took a week to sail to Europe and then stayed for a month or more!);)

Take care all :sunny:

Nancy,
You will love Song! Disney is the first music choice and there are about 30 songs...everything from The Lion King to Mary Poppins.

Also, Song has a great approach to the beginning of the flight instructions. On my way to Boston, the pre-recorded audio played while the flight attendants demonstrated...normal, but the pre-recorded voice was in New Age speak. She started off by saying "Welcome aboard everyone. Please close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Exhale. Now open your eyes...etc." All in this very relaxing voice. Very cool. Then on the way home, the recorded voice had an Scottish accent and was very upbeat! Much fun!:teeth:

Have a great flight!
Tracy :sunny:

Nancy DVC, I cannot believe you have not gotten your docs with booking through DVC. I guess that is not their specialty. I hope you get them before you leave. Oh my, I would be freaking out!! We are are in room 6056. Just a little down the hall from you.

Scrapperjill, I know what you mean about getting your act together. I have a house to clean, packing to start and getting a list for things I still need. All of this and the next two weekends are going to be crazy. Saturday I have a softball game in the morning and the we are going to see Jimmy Buffett in the evening:teeth: . Then next weekend we are having my son's birthday party. Saturday with his friends and Sunday with family. Needless to say, I should not be sitting in front of the computer right now, but cannot help myself.

See you all before we know it!

Kathy

amgpmg - What a GREAT way to get ready for the cruise..A Jimmy Buffett concert!!!

:sunny: How fun!!

I'm VERY busy the next 2 weekends also! Have to go out of town even the weekend BEFORE the cruise!!!:scared1: YIKES!!! Will be using every spare moment to get ready to go I guess!:hyper:
Everytime I see the counter at the bottom of my posts, I start to freak out more!!!!:crazy2:

What a relief!

We are doing the Glass bottom boat tour in Key West, then I am going to rent a Moped and follow my mom and sis around. Sis refuses to rent a moped because on the last cruise while in Key West we were on the trolly tour and a woman on a moped ran into the trolly. She was okay and all, but i think Sis is aprehensive about spending her vacation in traction :p

In Grand Cayman we are doing the island tour and snorkle with the string rays. I can wait to go back to the Turtle Farm! If any one is planning on not going there, RECONSIDER! It is competely amazing, speaking of, has any one heard anything about Boatswains Beach? It is a Marine Theme Park at the Turtle farm, but the link on the Cayman Islands Turtle Farm sight does not work...

In Cozumel we are doing the Sail, Snorkle and Beach party. After shopping we will head to Carlos and Charle's to spot drunk cast members...

I am going to try to fill in the open time with Shopping and Snorkleing!

Anybody else on the same excursions?

I am so glad we got these made already, that means we can go straight to Palo to make Brunch and Dinner reservations!

Not long now!

femmfaerie - sounds like you booked all your excursions through DCL?
We are doing the 1/2 day stingray/snorkel but we booked direct with Capt. Marvin's!

:sunny:
We are just going to wing it at Key West and then do a beach at Cozumel!

Hurray documents have finally arrived!!!:jumping1: Of course somehow they managed to send each of us our documents separately. I had to call my mother to make certain that she doesn't fill anything out yet!

Kathy, Now I have to finish my door signs so that evryone can find me. (And we can find the cabin.) The Jimmy Buffet concert sounds like a great way to get in the mood. Last Saturday at the chicken BBQ they played some Jimmy Buffet and I was ready to leave right then!

femmfaerie, Sounds like you loved the turtle farm. My friend, Diane wants to do that tour as well. My Mom is coming with me to Diane's this weekend so that we can discuss which tours to take.
Probably the trolley in Key West on our own. Then some shopping. And the island tour and turtle farm in Grand Cayman. Then just some shopping in Cozumel.
And if the weather causes a 'mystery cruise' then we wil just wing it!

TraSee, I can't wait to listen to the Disney music on Song. Now all I have to do is find out if they have those rather obscure Disney songs that I like. You know the ones they play on Main Street from The Happiest Millionare, Summer Magic and Pollyanna. I flew Jet Blue to CA when I went to a conference and DL. I loved it. Does Song have that crazy track your flight thing with the 'plane' that takes up half the map? I can't wait to see and hear a new approach to the flight instructions.

Now what else must I do? Get things set to pack. Make sure that I don't leave anything behind. (Read thsoe packing tips again, and again.) Find out how to get an enormous steamer trunk. And then how to get it to FLA!:rotfl: :rotfl: Can't you see it now? There I am explaining that my vintage trunk must be carefully handled so that my vital personal items will arrive unscathed. Ah yes shades of the grand era of Hollywood!:rotfl:

My friend Diane has changed her mind about celebrating her birthday on board. She read somewhere that they give the birthday celebrant a pin and she wants that pin! I hope they haven't stopped doing that. But I did buy one on ebay several months ago just in case. Now if I can only find it! :hyper:

Off to do more preparation. Good luck with all your packing and preparing!::yes:: :wave2:

Will there be any pin trading or pin activities on board our cruise? DS12 is kind of into that. He's got started DS7 off with a starter kit last time we were at Magic Kingdom.

Well, still no documents! Maybe I'm getting an unexpected upgrade and they want me to be surprised. I guess I'll wait until Monday and then call DU again. We just switched to the 10:00 Capt Marvins instead of the full day. I was worried that we might not get off the ship in time to get there for the full day (8:15 check in) or get back in time. It sounds like the 10:00 is going to be the one with all of the fun people anyway.

Question for people that have cruised with DCL before: my DD9 was in a wedding this summer and has a really pretty flower girl dress that she was going to wear on formal night. It is really dressy though, and all white. Do you think it will stick out or she will be comfortable? It is a pretty modern style and no lace or anything like that, I think it would be perfectly fine if it wasn't all white. What do you think? I am wearing a full lenth purple velvet dress, my DH is wearing a black suit and my DS3 (who was also in the wedding) is wearing his tux with tails! We are so excited.

Lopezgang --

Your daughter's dress sounds gorgeous and I'm sure that she will feel (and look) like a true Princess! Isn't that what formal night is all about?

princess:

I don't have my doc's yet either....here I thought that I might be the only one! I'm going to email my TA to see if she's received them yet, and make sure they did not get lost!
