Sept. 11th, 2004!!! Roll Call!

Jungle Tour in Key West? Hhmm? Did I miss something? I will have to look into this, sounds like it might be fun. We booked our Stingray excursion through Catn Marvins and if I am not mistaken is within walking distance. I am not sure about ohter excursions though. You should be able to find more info about it on these boards though. It is filled with great info.

Kathy,

you can find out more about the Jungle Tour at jungletour.com or do a search for key west jungle tour. We did a similar excursion in Cancun and had a ball! I'm hoping that this will be just as much fun!

Welcome...threesmiths:D I'm so glad to hear of more 6yo girls..I was getting a little nervious about my 6yo not having many girls around her age...I've seen quite a lot of 6yo boys listed to be on board..but not alot of girls....Also still looking for a girl around 11 to maybe start emailing with my daughter (11).

We booked on our own (the stingray with capt. marvin also) and I also beleive they are located near the port.

Oh..and before you pack your suitecase full of towels for everyone....from what I hear they sale some nice "dcl beach" towel on board...and special ones on Castaway Cay. I know dh has towel on his list to buy....he even has the one he wants all picked out...I just hope they have "the one"....(he is wanting the one they show on the DCL video/dvd.)

Paid the credit card bill today which had the final payment for the cruise. Ouch. But, "happy" to pay as it means we are almost there! Now, where to find the money for the excursions, souveniers, tips, alcohol, (am I forgeting anything?) ? I'm going to have to start searching our couches as well as our friends couches for change :scratchin

I can't believe it's less than 2 months! I was at Home Depot this morning and saw the Alien Green Disney paint chips. What is it that we're supposed to do with them?

Marti

Marti,

I have read some people will be using them as name tags at the meet & greet, and some people will be taping them to their stateroom doors. The lime green color (ribbon, paint chip) will be a way to recognize "our group".

I am going to try to get by Home Depot today to pick some up, as I could not find any lime green ribbon last week!

Stacy

47 days and counting...:boat:

I'm confused. What are the Alien Paint Chips? Please explain....thanks!:confused3

Tracy,

Home Depot carries a line of Disney Paints in their paint section. On the Disney display are paint chips "samples of the paint colors" that are on a small square card. The sample color is in the shape of Mickey's head. The color is Alien green, or something like that. I'll try to pick up some extras (if they have them) for anyone who cannot find them. Hope this helps!:space:

How cute! I have to go by there tomorrow and will check it out. Thanks for the explanation! Hey...guess where we will be 7 weeks from now? Woohoo!!!:fish: :fish: :boat: :fish: :fish:

Wahoo! 7 weeks left! Cali4niacruisin, I know what you mean. I need to come up with the money for everything too. You would think that since I had this booked since Oct of last year I would have been stashing money all along. Never happened, oh well I had good intentions anyway.

I'll try and remember....to tuck in and pack along my extra paint chips also.....to have on hand at the dis meet.

I've been thinking lately.....I'm a new cruiser so my thinking may be way off...but after hearing how crowded the mickey pool gets....dose any one know how crowded that area will be when we are trying to have our dis meet??? And if it will be super crowded....will it be the best place to have the meet?? I could be way off on the whole thing....I'm sure someone may have some idea of the crazyness around the pool on the first day. Also....I just thought of the fact we will be heading off to the boat drill shortly sooooo the kids wouldn't have much time in the pool area before having to get out, dryed off, and changed into dry clothes before the drill time. Any one have the same thoughts? Not like I have any other idea of meeting places (except maybe the secret deck on 7...if it's open). But then again the pool may be a great spot....being the kids would have something to do. Anyone know how crazy the area is at that time??? If no one knows...maybe i'll post the question on the main board...to get an idea.

Scrapperjill, I am not sure how the pool will be at that time. I think we went to the pool before the drill last time we sailed and it did get somewhat crowded, but there are other areas right around the pool too (at least there were on the Wonder). I am not sure how it will be on the Magic after the drill. You do have good point though, it may be pretty crowded and we may not see each other. It is so hard that first day because any earlier and you have people running around to make their reservations for different things or to sign the kids up at the kids club. Then you have the sail away party, and this is pretty hard because everyone sailing is pretty much there. I think this was why we decided that this could be a somewhat casual meet just so everyone can get to meet and then maybe have a later meet somewhere on the day at sea. Thanks for the offer of bringing the paint chips, I will try to get to my Home Depot, but if not or they dont have them that will be one less thing I will have to worry about.

Kathy

I went ahead and posted the question about how busy the pool area is on that first day....prior to departing Port Canaveral. We'll see what others have to say on the topic. I realize it's just going to be an informal meet...but I also know how hard it is to socialize at all if your totally focused on where your kids are...or what they are doing...specialy in a pool. But then again..just because were by the pool does not mean we have to be in the pool. :p

I've been thinking about packing again...and about how much stuff it seems like we will need to pack. I'm overwhelmed.:earseek: I'm going to have to do some trial packing I think.

I'm wondering....(oh no not again...) If we should get travlers checks or use a debit card on the trip...any ideas. I had originaly planned on using the debit card...but then started to wonder just how many business would take a debit card after my hubby mentioned travlers checks....He was wondering how many bussiness would take the travlers checks.

For some reason I don't remember the pools to be super, super busy at that time...I could be wrong. It seems like everyone is exploring the ship, trying got get into their cabin, eating, :sunny: etc. Also, I have seen many families in bathing suits at the drill, so they must have been in the pool! (Lucky I am not a detective!) I think is will be just a goold place to meet for the first time. :sunny:
I stopped at Home Depot yesterday and they had one Alien Green Mickey paint chip left! Have all of you been to my Orlando Home Depot? Are you here just waiting to get on that cruise ship?!
See you soon!:fish: :fish: :fish:

Well so far...it looks like the pool isn't real busy on the first day.:D There have only been a few replies to my question on the main board so far....but only one of them states the pool gets busy around 3:00...others have said they were the only ones swimming...or that they just don't remember the area being to cramped. :hyper: ...So it looks like I was worrying over nothing. I also think it will be a good meeting place for the first time...I just wanted to see if others had thought of the craziness...that happens around pools. I think the whole thing got started in my mind after having a pool party for my girls. And realizing how hard it is to keep track of kids in a crowded pool. But then again I was trying to keep track of 14 kids from 5-13yo...not just my two.

Scrapperjill bless your soul! 14 kids btw 5 - 13 yrs old in a pool! Yikes!! I can relate to you though. We just installed a pool and then had a party with a bunch of boys - thankfully their parents were also there, but I still was a fanatic about how many were in the pool and where were the others. It made me crazy.

I too understand about the packing. We overpack all the time and I am stressing that if I do not want to wear something one day I cannot just run out and get something else. Shopping for clothes will be pretty limited - and I want to save my money for all that scrapbooking stuff I will need!!

TraSee - we just returned from Orlando, but no, I did not visit the home depot to get the alien chips.

Kathy

FYI- Our cruise is one that Florida Resident discount rates apply. My father-in-law lives in Florida and is sharing a cabin with us. I just saved $700.00 by e-mailing my travel agent and mentioning this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just wanted to share the info if it can help anyone else. See you all in September. Can't wait.

What a great thought! Just from past experience in travelling abroad, we usually used our bank card (debit or credit) whenever possible for the reason that the exchange rate that will be used is the bank's exchange rate, which is normally better than what you will get in a restaurant, store, or currency exchange.

I would think that any "tourist-y" area would accept either Visa/MC or travellers checks.

Hmmmm......something else to think about!
