Sept 11 3 day Wonder? Am I the only one?

Sorry that I've been MIA. I was in Orlando a couple of weeks ago to see some friends and instead of going to Epcot, wound up with food poisoning! :scared1:  :crazy2: :scared: Then I left town again the following weekend. It's just been a crazy few weeks! LOL

I can't believe we're so close to going! I can't wait!!

I'm sorry! That's awful (esp. if you're on vacation!!!!)! Are you feeling better!

Here's some PD in case you need it :wizard:

Sorry to hear about the food poisoning. I hope your a lot better.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes! :goodvibes Fortunately, I'm completely recovered, and hopefully will never be that sick again!

I have been sick a lot in my life and I must say that food poisoning is the worst!!!

So how many are we up to with the exchange? Just trying to get a good idea as to what I need...

Good question.:cool1: I have a potentially stupid question about the exchange. Do we exchange single items? Do we make up little 'gift bags' and exchange those? Do we do one per person or per stateroom? What type of things are generally exchanged?

It really is up to the individual. On my last cruise, some did one gift per family only once during the cruise, while others did little things for each member, every day. I did the latter. I'm not sure yet what Jason and I are doing, but I'm thinking that we'll do at least one gift per person for two of the days, and possibly one gift per family for the other. We haven't quite got that figured out yet! LOL

Yeah, I haven't decided what to do yet, either. I'm just trying to get dome ideas so I can go shopping....

Some things that people did on our cruise were little bags with things like ginger chews, homemade "DIS" keychains, Disney cruise cd that someone burned, pirate themed items, candy, little photo albums, journals, postcards or things from the persons hometown, and the best one (which I wish that I had thought of!) was that someone went and got each family two DCL postcards, a Disney themed pen, and 2 one dollar bills (tied with ribbon), along with some creative little note about Castaway Cay and using the postcards there to send to family members or friends. That would have been so much easier than me racking my brain trying to figure out what to get! :lmao:

OH and here is another question, since this is my first cruise, and I am not sure how this all works, How do we know what rooms we are doing and where people are? What happens if someones room changes at the last minute? Just curious.

You should have your room assignment about 30 days before cruising. On my last cruise, one of did a word document that listed the different families, how many people and ages if children, and the stateroom number. Fortunately we didn't have anyone that changed rooms, so I'm not sure how that would work. Most cruises have a DIS meet on the first day at a certain time (ours was at 3), so I guess we could find out about any changes then. :confused3

This will be my first cruise and I have not been to disney world since I was 10. I will be getting married on this cruise.

Congratulations-I got married at the Wedding Pavilion at Disney Sept 1995. Once you cruise once with Disney you'll keep going back. We love it. This will be my 7th one and we're going with the kids on the Magic Oct 11, 2008 as well.

I am currently booked in a cat 12 GTY, so my room number may not be available until the sail date, though I hope I get it before that....I may also try to upgrade at port if upgrades are available, so....who knows where I'll end up, lol. As long as I'm on the ship I'll be happy.

Well, I started my exchange shopping already. Does anyone know how many people are exchanging?

I'm not sure how many people yet, but it looks like in the high 20's.

I booked a cat 12 GTY on my last cruise and they assigned me 30 days out, as well as everyone else that were GTY's. Even if someone doesn't have their room # or upgrades, they could always leave a note in the other DISer's fish extenders to let them know what cabin they're in. I already know that we'll be in 6515, the one I was in last time. :goodvibes

Alrighty, I promise at some point that I'm going to make a tentative list of those participating in the FE exchange so that at least we have an idea or how many people/staterooms we're looking at. I've had a crazy month so far, so I'm sorry that I've been MIA! :rolleyes1

Alright, after looking back through everything, here is a tentative list. There may possibly be a few extra people, because some that are participating said that friends are joining them, but didn't say whether or not they would be taking part in the FE exchange. I just had a couple of questions for daltwalt and abfnumberten. If either of you see this post:

daltwalt- Is it you and dh? Also, you mention your boys but I'm not sure how many or their ages (some like to do age appropriate gifts :goodvibes )

abfnumberten- Will all of your friends be participating in the FE exchange as well? I know that you mentioned the couple with the 7 year old dd, and then Ginny and Bob.

Ok, on with the list (the poster will be listed, and then any additonal people in their stateroom will follow along with ages of any children)

Smilingmouse

Mdhkitten- friend Jason

Lcombs- DH, DD14, DS12, DS10, DD9

Fivepin- DH

Risnsun- DH

Daltwalt- DH, DS, DS

Abfnumberten- DH, DS6

Thanks for the list! Let the shopping begin! Do most people bring daily gifts for everyone? Do the do a gift bag for everyone in the stateroom? Both? Sigh....I can't decide what to do..

I am sorry I have not been on the boards, but I just got Ginny and Bob's reservation done tonight. I would still like to be part of the fish extenders!! I don't know about our other friends. I think they are all kind of overwhelmed with just going on their first cruise. I would like to work on special signs for their doors. But my family will definitely join you in the FE. We are in cabin 6135 right now. Also for any florida resident's I just spoke with my TA, and cat 6 is Florida resident rates now on this cruise. Life is sooo busy, only five more weeks and were cruising. Looking forward to meeting you all.

My name is Patti, and My hubby is Alex and our son is Caden( he is six)

Ok, thanks for responding! I will remove your friends from the FE exchange unless you tell me otherwise. On our last cruise, we had a cut off of a week before to join the FE exchange so that everyone would have time to get their gifts, so if you find out they're interested just let us know. :goodvibes
