All the talk about pets, just reminded me about a funny little story from last year's WBTA.
As some of you will remember, Don "Ducky" Williams, the Disney artist was onboard for the cruise with his friend George who is from the same part of Scotland as me.
We had booked for him to do a drawing for us and, of course, we had asked for Tod & Copper from Fox and the Hound. On the day, we turned up at Preludes for our slot and Tom, the Manager of the merchanise shops had said that there was a problem, as we had signed up for 2 characters technically and he would only draw one. I immediately said that I would pay double, but Tom said that it was the time slot, he only had time for one character, but said to have a word with Ducky about it when we met with him.
Immediately on meeting Ducky, who is a lovely gentleman, he recognised the Scottish accent and was chatting away about his trips to Scotland to visit George and his family. He then said to me that I would have to choose another character or just choose one of the characters, either Tod or Copper
I said to him that that wasn't possible, I couldn't choose between my boys and I would have to choose something else. He then enquired, what did I mean "choose between my boys"? Luckily I had my iphone to hand, called up the photograph of my 2 gorgeous little yorkies cuddled up on the couch together and I said to him jokingly "you choose one then". He then shouted over to Tom, asked if he was running on schedule and, to our great luck, he was running slightly ahead of schedule and said that he would happily do both boys for me
How lucky were we???
We got talking to Ducky, George and his travelling party through the rest of the cruise last year and, they were so sweet, they had heard it was Stevie & I's wedding anniversary and then all signed a card and put in in our FE, and when we got back to the room that night, they had scribbled a lovely message on our magnetic whiteboard on our room door.
Needless to say, that anniversary card is in my "special" box. He is such a lovely gentleman if anyone ever has the chance to chat to him.
