I see a lot of posts from the UK side discussing some great discounts for the cruise...does anyone know if these are available for US residents? We booked through AAA, but would love to know if there's any discounts we qualify for!

Thanks,
Connie

I don't know if they ever come out with a "US residents" discount, but there are Florida resident discounts for some cruises. The discounts usually apply to certain stateroom categories, too.

Hey, if they have "Kids Sail Free" specials, how come they never have something like a "Snoring Spouses Sail Free" offer? Now I could use one like that!! :rotfl:

Oh yes, I do qualify for that in a big way!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thanks for the information! I'll check, but even if we don't get a discount, it'll be a great cruise! It's our first DCL and our 25th Wedding Anniversary and my husband's birthday!

Us too. That is when I feel it is all really happening. BUT, the best time is when the evacuation drill is over. RELAXATION!!!!!

Definitely :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :cool1:

Make sure you tell your TA or DCL know about the special occasions, they just add that special touch to make it that bit more magical. We had our anniversary on last year's WBTA and they made a fuss over us at Palo on our anniversary and the next evening in the main dining room as they hadn't seem us the night before :)

Since you are an expert at trivia quizzes, maybe you should organize a scavenger hunt like we had on the last years WBTA.

That would be fun! I love scavenger hunts! (But no clue how to organize one.)

That's what I am thinking as well. My guess is the CM that replied was just saying something ... Still ecstatic to go!! This will be our most expensive vacation ever (even counting 3 weeks in Hawaii one summer) but from everything I have read, it should be the best! :)

Pat:

You might PM (Corinna) Dolphingirl47 and (Sarah) Totally Angelic as they did last years scavenger hunt on the 2010 WBTA. They did a bang up job and would be an excellent resource.

Unfortunately while we enjoyed preparing this it is not something I would care to organise again as it ended up with a few difficult moments with some of the people taking part which totally detracted from what it was supposed to be about which was a bit of fun and entertainment. :sad2::sad2:

However, I would happily help out anyone else who wanted to organise one by sharing what we did etc.

Sarah, I hope you do not think I was volunteering you again for this assignment. I just thought you would have great ideas.

Sorry Chris&Jeremy, I was replying on my iPhone and it wouldn't let me scroll down to reply to you...but I see Claire answered anyway.

No problem - I thought maybe this was an unlimited refill mug for one flat price. Darn!

No you don't have a time limit to use them. You don't have to use them in a row, you use them when you want them. Can't go wrong with this plan. You can purchase what ever plan you choose. Hope this helped.:)

So just confirming - clearly I am slow today and trying to catch up here. We could buy the 7 night wine plan even though it is a 14-night cruise? I saw they had 3, 4, 7 and 11 plans, so I was in the same boat not knowing if the length of plan had to match the length of cruise.

Two posts in a row regarding alcohol - clearly you see where our vacation priorities lie. :)

Yes you can buy any package regardless of the length of cruise. :thumbsup2

No not at all .... and I really wouldn't mind doing it if last time hadn't been such a negative experience.

I am so sorry that you had a negative experience as John and I had such fun doing the scavenger hunt. There were a few people on the last cruise who were a bit of a handful on my Madeira tour so I know what you mean. However for me, all in all, it was a fun experience.

Lol the same as everyone else ::yes::::yes:: we've been talking for weeks about it ... Topping up the supplies in barcelona, Gibraltar and Madeira to make sure we have enough for the trip across the big pond. I even cut down on a dress or 2 to make sure I have room for my tesco half price moet from home. Sipping champagne on deck 10 late in the afternoon in the middle of the Atlantic last year on our anniversary was fabulous :cloud9:

Most people who took part said they enjoyed it .. there was just one couple who clearly didn't and they certainly weren't keeping it to themselves. They even made the winners feel bad about winning, which was what annoyed me the most.

We definitely want to stock up on some champagne in the ports .... really loooking forward to champagne on deck in the evening, or after dinner under the stars. Last time we only did it on the night before last and it was so lovely we wished we had done it many times. I am a bit worried about flying with it in my bags though in case the bottle breaks and everything gets soaked in champagne. Do you fly in with it from home?

I am so sorry that happened to you. Since you probably don't want to to post who it was on a public forum, would you PM and let me know who it was as I am curious if was one of the same people I had difficulties with on the Madeira tour.

With the luggage restrictions on weight, we bought our wine in Barcelona and Gibraltar.

If anyone is traveling with from home or doing the cruise with breakable liquids like wine, olives, olive oil, etc, I highly recommend wine diapers which we used last year. We didn't bring wine from home put purchased some along the way as well as olives, olive oil etc. One of the bottles broke on the way home and was confined to the diaper, not damagign any of my clothing.
