It would be fab if I could prize the laptop off of DH, so that I could do multi-replies, rather than one at a time on my iPhone lol :rotfl2:

DH remembers there being lots of taxes added to the price last year for the wine package, so that might be the tax you refer to, but we didn't mind, it's such a treat choosing your bottle at the table depending on what you have ordered to eat... Indulgence lol :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the wine info. From what I see on DCL web site, you can buy this in advance, so I think that might negate any "Spanish VAT" but it does say that a 15% service charge will be added, so that may be what the "tax" is. Can't imagine the Spanish can charge VAT on preorders?? But then again...

Definitely Topsiders for us ... love eating al fresco ... it really makes me feel like I'm on vacation :woohoo::woohoo:

Us too. That is when I feel it is all really happening. BUT, the best time is when the evacuation drill is over. RELAXATION!!!!!

That's a good question.....maybe one of the peeps who did last years WBTA will know the answer. :confused3

:cool1: For the 10 posts.

Since this tax only goes into affect it appears this year, don't know about it. We bought everything online last year to be sure the cards, mug etc. would be in our stateroom when we arrived. Of course, the plus is it was all paid for prior to the cruise.

Just my thoughts....

Since DH and I only drink one glass of wine at dinner,we just poured our own in our SR and brought it to dinner. We bought all of our wine either in Barcelona or Gibraltar. The room steward brought us clean glasses every day. We always carry our own wine opener when we travel.

First up; welcome to all the newcomers! :thumbsup2 Seems like the group is growing exponentially at the moment.

Right now, it looks like either the Universal Barcelona @ 148 Euros per night or the Hotel Parallel @ 79 Euros per night. They're a short walk apart. Do those of you who have been there feel like there's 70 Euros difference between them?

JMHO, but with that difference I wouldn't hesitate and book the latter. It's just a place to sleep basically and get out early to head to the port. Saving €70 on that roof over your head, just consider what you could use that for once aboard..... For me that can get me more enjoyment that a different hotel that is more or less comparable, so would be a very easy choice for me.

Just found out a search and rescue party has been looking for me, apparently. Thanks for the pm, Marilyn. :flower3: Very much appreciated, allthough luckely not really neccessairy. Just typical same-old-same-old for me. Will probably happen again and could even happen during the cruise that I seem MIA. Just one of those periods that comes along with my health. A total lack of energy, doing a killer imitation of Sleeping Beauty in her sleepingperiod and finding a new hobby (talk about humor; I took up baking. Cakes, pies, pastries, the works. Couldn't even heat a precooked meal without burning it until recently and now I'm hooked up to my feedingtube I turn into a bakingpro. :rotfl2: Made a Parrot Cay banana bread earlier this week; yum! :lovestruc takes you back onto the Magic instantly..) I hardly ever find the time or energy to hang out on the DIS. :sad2: Sure does make time before the cruise go faster, though! :thumbsup2

For those of you that have sent me PM's about the candyswap; got them! I'll try to respond individually later this week, need to make some time for that. For the new cruisers; also see the info Karen put on page 1 :thumbsup2 . Amongst all of the possible things being organised, the candyswap is one of them. Those wanting to sign up can sent me a PM and I'll add you to the list. As we get closer to our cruisedate, I'll keep all informed about the details.

Seems like quite a lot of us are adding a WDW-stay after the cruise. Do I smell a bonus-activity here? Like taking our signature to the next level and actually doing Space Mountain together? No rollercoasters for me, but I could so see the fun in doing such a groupthing with our logo.

Mary (Todd&Copper)....we are staying at the Boardwalk also on the 24th (and also 25th). They are really nice. It's great to be able to just walk over to Epcot. We love just walking the boardwalk in the evening because there are a lot things going on to observe. There are also some nice restaurants on the boardwalk too. You will really enjoy your stay! :)

Just a reminder when you PM me about lanyards or pins, please let me know which cruise you are on as I am doing both lanyards pins for this cruise and MV of the Fantasy.

Thanks again!!

So pleased to see you back.:thumbsup2 Sorry you have been suffering fatigue. I hope you are feeling better now. I used to love baking and the funny thing was I loved it more when i was on a diet. I would make all sorts. I don't know if it is a kind of self punishment or something. Can you eat everything you bake?

I don't think I mentioned to you when I pm'd you it was for the WBTA, sorry! X

Thanks Deb,

Looking forward to it x we usually walk to the studios, as well as epcot, when we stay at the beach club, we usually beat the boat :rotfl2:

When we went to wdw after last year's WBTA, we bumped into so many people off the cruise. Chances are we will all manage space mountain lol xx

I could not agree more. We did the same thing and the savings is awesome. We would pour one glass and go to the early show. Swing by the room, re-fill and head to dinning room. It really worked for us.

Just got a call from our TA.

She's sorting out cancelling our previous WBTA ressie and transferring the deposit to the new MEO ressie I made yesterday :woohoo:

I PM'd you back before I saw this post to confirm. Now should have you on the correct list.

Thanks Noel,

Just checked and thanks for your pm. It's difficult to spot notifications and reply to pm's on the iPhone, no option to scroll down :confused3

Thanks for all you are doing for the lanyards and pins :thumbsup2

I know there is an automatic gratuity added to any alcoholic beverage order (at a bar, at dinner, etc.), so I'm thinking that's what the 15% is.

Wow, I go to work for one day, and I've got 2 1/2 pages of posts to catch up on!

You are welcome!!

Now that I'm ready to change my hotel reservation, since we now have 3, I've done went and forgotten the name of the hotel where several families are staying. Can someone please refresh my memory? It was near the Ramblas not the airport.

We're booked at the Universal, but I'm thinking about switching to something closer to (or right on) Placa de Catalunya. (I'm still optimistically hoping for Military discount, employment turn-around, or both.) The Regina and Pulitzer look interesting. I also keep getting drawn to a couple of places a little farther up (or is it west?) off Passeig de Gracia. I'm thinking about a couple of guest houses, too. I mentioned this to Dennis and said they had en suite bathrooms. He asked if that meant we share a bath, but I told him no, it means a private bath. So he said he wanted to share a bathroom! Getting adventurous is his old age! Meanwhile, I'm getting "soft" - I consider "roughing it" to be a hotel without room service. :rolleyes1

Since DH and I only drink one glass of wine at dinner,we just poured our own in our SR and brought it to dinner. We bought all of our wine either in Barcelona or Gibraltar. The room steward brought us clean glasses every day.

Hmmm... we never thought of doing that before. What a good idea!

We always carry our own wine opener when we travel.

I consider it standard survival equipment! First Aid kit, Swiss Army knife, wine opener,... peanuts, towel, Babel Fish... (let's see who gets the reference ;))

So, since this is a 14 day cruise, can we purchase the 7 day package or do we need to purchase one more in line with the number of days? Or must we just use all of them up in the first 7 days?

We really think this could be a good deal for us given the price for 7 days and we usually have wine with dinner each night (1-2 glasses). I guess we could just bring them from the room if they start to pile up?

Thanks!

Fontabel

No you don't have a time limit to use them. You don't have to use them in a row, you use them when you want them. Can't go wrong with this plan. You can purchase what ever plan you choose. Hope this helped.:)
