*Sept 10th 2011 WB Transatlantic* - From Spain to Space Mountain - Part 6

I'm a bit concerned as well. When we initally booked our flight, I never ever thought there would be any questions regarding a hurricane affecting our flight, with the far majority of hurricane's/tropical storms, if they do hit the US...9 times out of 10...usually Florida or the southern coastal areas are affected.

I never would have thought of NY being an issue in regards to hurricanes either!

Last year, I had all the DIS names printed on cardstock (in large letters, so people could see), in alphabetical order. If someone had a change, we could change the list and others could see easily the new info. Somebody then kept the list along with the white board.

And they were awesome Lynne!!! One note about the white board - I kept the white board along with my next door cabin mate and people are mean and will come by and earse it for the fun of it! I suggest putting a sticky note up if you have a change to give to - it was terrible on the EBTA last year with people doing that and we had to keep rewriting it till I put a hard copy list out on the door and sticky notes. You can still put the sticky notes onto the white board so it is in a central location. Just some suggestions from somone who has been there and done that!

i'm the same as you mandy, i can't stand the taste of wine and champagne, but will join you in looking through the door!
I will be on the outside looking in too - I was at the orginal CG event on the 2008 WBPC and am kinda sad it was already filled up before I got on this cruise - oh well - those of us outside the door can have our own little party - I will be there with a coke in hand :) We can sit in the big windows outside!

kisann, this is the magnet that lynne made for you, i've just printed it off for you, did you want me to drop it on your door first or just set it loose on the ship and it'll get back to you by the end?

Oh it is great!! just let it loose for me! did it have my cabin number on it? If not can you write it on? Thank you to Lynne for designing it and thank you karen for printing it!

I will join Mandy and Karentan in peeking in on the Champagne Girls ! I can't wait to see the pink boas--what fun :cutie:

will be there with you too!

Hey, they could change it back yet!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Ok here is my thing - one cruise we were told, multiple people, multiple times, there would be a formal night on the cruise we were on and it was xx night. Everyone was told a different night, but they assured us there would be one (it was a special cruise on the magic) - low and behold we got on the ship - NO FORMAL NIGHT!!! - so until I get on and see the actual schedule from Disney I will not make any plans that something is on a particular day!

we have 8pm on night 7, a trade would be awesome :) man the disboards are awesome!

we'll have to sort out a time to both be online at the same time so one can cancel and the other snag it as soon as it appears and the other way round. or is there an easier way to do it?
if you PM me with a time today you want to do it, i should be around 90% of the day

trade when you get on the ship - go by Palo and do it - I did this in May on the EBTA and it worked great.

That's my last Weekly Recap pre-cruise. Off to London at noon.

have fun Lynne!

I have been away for a while, and noticed today that the Dolphin encounter for Gibraltar is gone. In chasing through the threads and recaps,I noticed that there was some issues with the operators wanting to change the times and the likelihood of seeing dolphins was less than led to believe. I assume the DIS excursion is now off?

I do not know about the event but I do know about the dolphins . . .

on the WBTA in 2010 we did the dolphin excursion through DCL - saw dolphins, was nice.

On the WBTA in 2011 - know people who went on the same excursion, did not see the first dolphin, then when we were leaving the port, we saw so many dolphins beside the ship on deck 4 on our way out (we were kinda far away from the port) and saw whales also! I have video I will put up of them later. The same people who paid money were on the deck too - was glad they finally got to see dolphins! My MIL wanted to see them and boy did she!!! So for me, we are going to play it safe, hope to see them again as we leave gilbralter - no outlay of money - so if I see them wonderful, if not, it is ok too.

Well, as you say...we should know by the weekend...where this one is heading. We may have an interesting cruise as well...but once I'm on the ship...it won't matter.:yay::woohoo::dance3:

John and are continuing to work on the DIS Navigator made difficult by so many changes, no rooms numbers etc.

One thing came up that I was not sure of. What night did we decide to do the Mickey Mouse Club? I know it was the 19th at one point but it seems to have fallen off the calendar. Is everyone ok with the 19th?

For those of you doing Palo tea this cruise, I just read a tea review post w/ pictures on the Disney Food Blog: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2011/08/30/disney-cruise-review-high-tea-at-palo/

Enjoy!!

That's my last Weekly Recap pre-cruise. Off to London at noon.

:dance3:Have a wonderful time in London & we'll see you on the Magic!!!! :dance3:

DH's appendicitis-pain scare seems to have resolved into a muscle pull; he has been working out extra hard in anticipation of the excesses of the cruise and I think it caught up. Thank you for all the pixie dust!

This time next week I will be so useless for anything. Is anyone else having trouble concentrating at work?

I'm so glad that it was just a scare & not appendicitis. Whew!

So, to answer your question in a word...Y E S!
I am definitely having trouble getting into work this week. :surfweb:

That's my thought - I don't care what happens after I leave the ground on the 8th, as we'll be on the ship. I just want to get to BCN and then whatever happens happens! I'm on vaca!

Happy Birthday Karen and Dan. Hope it is Awesome!

Al Roker just stated that they are expecting a trough to deflect Katia to the south and keep her away from the US entirely. Hopefully he is right.

Lynne, have a great trip.

On the Mixology and Mojito tastings.

The official word is everything is now getting sent over to the ship. No more names can be added to either groups/lists.
Hopefully we will hear something about the dates/times very soon.

Will update as soon as I hear anything.

I suppose that is a start but blimey they are really testing our patience!!!!

So if they list has gone to the ship then I am assuming we won't be able to switch people from one group to the other if it clashes with our Palo Brunch etc?

I will be on the outside looking in too - I was at the orginal CG event on the 2008 WBPC and am kinda sad it was already filled up before I got on this cruise - oh well - those of us outside the door can have our own little party - I will be there with a coke in hand :) We can sit in the big windows outside!

Krisann

Krisann do you want to be added to the CG waitlist? I only have one other person on there currently and lots that haven't confirmed they still want to go, if they don't confirm by the weekend then I will have to drop them off the list as I need to send it to DCL.

John and are continuing to work on the DIS Navigator made difficult by so many changes, no rooms numbers etc.

I can only imagine the headache you are having with the Navigator Noel....:headache:

we'll meet you outside with a drink in hand then!
you're welcome about the door magnet, i already wrote your room number on the bottom so i'll just set it loose and hopefully it'll make its way home by the end of the cruise.

the calendar on the front page still shows the MM club night as being the 19th so assume it hasnt changed

I will keep it as the 19th!!

noel,
i've just sent you two PMs for the dis navigator :)

also - still two places available on the airport to port shuttle if anyone needs transfers

had a thought - for the farewell lunch, would anyone like to bring/buy anything for a raffle? i have something that i had done with the cruise dates on it, and thinking of giving it away on the farewell lunch day as a raffle prize?

If you have a list of stateroom numbers, by all means, send it to me so I can compare it to what have at this point.

All the numbers I have are on the spreadsheet I sent. Nothing new on the FE list as everyone is in the same boat (so to speak) with the GTY rooms.

Does DCL really think that many people will book at the last minute??

I know nothing Claire:confused3
I did ask prior to the sending of the lists that we could look over what's been offered first before committing to anything and she said that that would be fine, so I imagine we can shuffle around.

yes ... sorry. We had to cancel the idea of the dolphin watching as an DIs group excursion as the operators were being really difficult.:mad::mad: It wasn't worth the hassle. However that doesn't stop people from booking it as individuals if that is what they want to do.

I thought I would keep a list of all the birthdays on board. This is what I have so far, so if anyone is missing from the list, or you could fill in names and cabin numbers if you have them, that would be great.

MANDYGIRL - Mandy's daughter Sarah – 4th September - celebrating embarkation day ( 5th birthday)

We are cabin 2010 with a completely girlyfied FE outside the door :)

Ditto here!! We thought we were "safe" booking on the 7th, and actually starting from New York that day! Right now, I think the "safest" one in our group is my hubby who is doing the standby thing. He can go on Mon or Tues. Heck, we could all go this Friday since his last day of work is Thrusday! But I was paranoid and said the girls and I had to have real tickets for this trip.

What was I thinking........

Another storm headed our way? Ohhh my aching nerves. We still can't get around after Sunday's storm. It took me 2 1/2 hours of changing directions from flooded roads yesterday morning and over 2 hours to try and find my way home. Too bad I don't drink, I'm seriously considering taking it up. Then again, I threaten to start drinking every Thursday at work. The girls just laugh at me anymore. But I digress, I discovered roads I did not know existed. We switched our flight to fly out on the 8th. If we can't fly out I may pass out from stress. Horrible way to start a vacation you waited 3 years to take. :headache::headache:
