And my big poufy red ballgown? It's at the dressmakers, being redone! I asked her if my losing 10 pounds would help, and she said only if I could lose 10 pounds and grow 4 inches... the girl who owned this dress was incredibly long bodied! So she's putting a corset panel in the back and has rebuilt it so the sleeves aren't up by my ears - I'm due to try it on tonight and am very excited!

It's all coming together, isn't it?

That description is hilarious! I've done some alterations on prom dresses, but nothing like that. I hope she is able to make it work for you.

I just realized we leave for Orlando 3 weeks from tomorrow. I've been focusing so much on getting FE gifts finished I've neglected everything else. I've got some dress repairs (replacing missing beads, etc.), need to get my SM gift, finish our villians' masks, get the dogs' food packed up for "doggy camp," get all of our stuff together... I don't know how I'm going to finish everything! Then there are the details like paying the bills that will come due while we're away. Thank goodness for online bill paying!

I echo what some of you are feeling. My mom will be 100 in Nov. and I am concerned that something might happen while we are at sea - the other places I can get home from. My sisters and daughters tell me life is for the living and to go cruise and enjoy it, so I will hope and pray we get to have her 100th birthday celebration with her in Nov.

I am also glad that Gary got to spend time with his dad before his passing.
OMG - the three of us caballeros will leave 3 weeks from this Wednesday!!!!:cool1::banana:

Congrats to your mom. 100 is quite an achievement - and it sounds like she's a vibrant 100-year old woman, so that is even more impressive. :worship:

Our cats allow this no problem - if you can get him/her to sit on your lap and pet them it won't be a problem. (Or shouldn't be). :lmao:

This sounds like a recipe for getting scratched!! I guess I will have to do it though & hope that she has claws b/c keeping her inside just isn't a viable option for us.

I would not worry about checking for claws if she is still afraid of you, you might get scratched. Give it some more time. If she is coming out for you and letting you pet her then once you feel comfortable you can check. If you do not plan to bring her inside, it is really a moot point if she has claws or not, right? Why risk scaring her off?

If she is hiding under your porch and getting to know you she will be fine for the short term. You need to gain her trust and get her to a vet, so take your time with it, the vet can also tell you the claw situation--also if she is male or female (I assume we don't know, but just using she since we are shes? ;)) and you would consider getting her fixed so that she does not have kittens under your porch come spring!

Our cat is an inside cat and she has claws, so it is possible this cat, if from a home does. Personally, I feel de-clawing a cat is inhumane as it is super painful for the animal. Most ASPCA or shelter cats if you adopt require you to keep the claws on as part of the adoption.

Any luck with the fliers? Our cat also has a micro-chip, so again, gaining her trust and getting her to go with you to the vet is the main goal. Could take a month or so with cats, be patient.

Hope this helps.

Amanda

Thanks guys. I watched her closely as she ate yesterday and saw that she does indeed have front claws so that is a relief.

No luck finding her owners, but she is warming up to me and even walked halfway up to Lucky (my dog) this morning, so that is good. I don't know if dogs and cats can ever be friends, but if they could tolerate each other where she wouldn't hiss at him and he wouldn't chase her, that would be nice...so its a step in the right direction!

Oh, yes please! Thank you so much!

Good Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Time's getting short now! SO excited!

might make more FE gifts even though I don't need 'em, just to keep my hands busy. (Haven't got the concentration to be creative - repetitive is more like it.) I'm getting tired of trying to find things to clean or weed!

Friday is my high school class reunion. Sure seems like high school was a long time ago.

Seraphine, do you have MS word or Powerpoint? You can use wordart to make those letters.

Happy Day, all!

Are you guys talking about the Disney font? There is a website where you can download the font to use in Word or any other program. I've downloaded it with no problems. They also have lots of other fonts and graphics available.

Here is the website. The font you want is Waltograph.
http://mickeyavenue.com/fonts/waltograph/

On that page there is a download button on the right upper side part of the page.

My 7 yo son is supposed to be asleep, but as usual he gets out of bed every 10 minutes to come in and ask me some random question. Tonight he came in and asked how many days until we go on our cruise. Ten minutes later he comes in and asks "Can we go on the Disney Dream sometime?" That child is so like me - already planning the next vacation before we have even started on this one!:love:

He said he wants to go on the Aquaduck and get a room with a virtual porthole - he knows all this because we have been watching the DCL DVD and we watch ALL of it, even where they talk about the Dream. I told him it was very expensive and maybe we could do it sometime.

That's why we're taking this cruise! Our 7 year old grandson! It's amazing what these young ones have up there sleeve. Come Jan we'll get to see him in the aquaduck/human straw

Hi Linda
We got our documents this morning! We're all set, although I noticed last night that our nursery booking and our Palo booking don't quite line up (dinner is at 8pm but babysitting isn't booked til 9pm). I tried to change it and got an error message, so I've made a big note of it to change it when I get onboard.

So if this is anything like my last few holidays, I'll be fitting clients in at the last possible moment, and won't get to do my own nails until I'm actually at my destination... trying to do them in the hotel bathroom. I'll never learn! (I've actually tried booking MYSELF an appointment for MYSELF in my book... think it will work?)

It's all coming together, isn't it?
How exciting! We still don't have our docs yet :sad2: I keep looking in the mail everyday. I think I'm going to have to call our TA and see where they are since we leave in 3 weeks. Hope you have time to do your own nails. Any time you're in a field of service I feel like you're slammed right up to the last minute and then when you get back you get slammed again. Hope things don't get too crazy for you. :goodvibes

Dogs and cats CAN be friends - my dad's 80 pound chocolate lab and our 18 pound cat learned to get along very nicely. Once when Lion had been to the vet to get his teeth cleaned and came home a little groggy, Rusty sniffed him all over from stem to stern and then planted a gigantic lick right up his face.

If you'd like to put your own choice of bacKground on word art letters, this is what you do.

  • Open your document and choose 'insert word art"
  • choose a font that can be filled - not a thin script, but something chunky
  • type your word
  • Click the little paint bucket to fill the letters only instead of filling it with color, get the menu to drop down and offer you options like texture or picture
  • select picture
  • then select the picture or image you want the letters filled with.
  • click ok. Your letters should fill with the image.

You probably*won't* get it right the first time:lmao: or even the second, but eventually you *WILL* get it. I'm still trying to figure out the most recent version of PP, but it's fairly simple in earlier versions.

Here's how a pro does it

Bella, our beagle, and the two adult male cats (one is 10 and the other 4) get along pretty well. Max (the 4-yo) will lay next to her and sleep.

Though the cats were already in the house when we brought Bella home as a puppy at 8 weeks, so she pretty much grew up being around them. I'm sure that helps.

Went to Macy's and JC Penny today to shop for formal night... Spent 50 dollars on a tux kit (shirt, bow tie, cummerbund), Silver suit coat and purple shirt. Feeling like James Bond (or Michael Scarn; Threat Level Midnight for my US office fans) in my first bow tie :woohoo: I hate shopping, but I love the feeling of victory after getting a deal and looking good.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 yay you have got to love a bargain !!!
can't wait to see the outfit.....James Bond woohoo

So, I think I will definitely book a future cruise while I'm on board, as long as I can cancel it if we decide we can't afford it down the road.

:banana::banana: haven't you got to love a little man that knows what he wants:banana::banana:
And yay to booking another cruise on board:cloud9::cloud9:

Actually Lynne - I can get to see her nearly every day. She lives with my sister and her DH - helps feed the babies in my sister's daycare, sings to them... unfortunately she had a TIA this past Wed, and is having a tough time. I guess we sometimes think she is invincible to keep bouncing back.
She is very happy that I am going on this cruise, asks about it so often.

Want to find something special for her at Monserrat. Anyone have any suggestions? She has a great faith.

That's so good you get to see her so often and what an age, just thinking of the changes she's seen in her lifetime is amazing !! you must treasure every moment :thumbsup2

Had a great weekend this weekend. One thing I love about Florida is the Tax Free holiday!!! I found several pairs of shorts, shirts and even some work clothes for great prices. Even talked my DH into shopping for stuff for himself.:cool1: I think clothes wise we are just about ready for this cruise. Packing wise....well that didn't happen at all this weekend.

As for celebrations we are celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary on this cruise. I don't know who said their birthday is October 9th, mine is the 6th. Yeah for October birthdays!!

I can't wait to go shopping in florida, one of my favourite things to do:thumbsup2 I have far too many clothes for this holiday, I did try to do some packing this weekend and ended up with 20 dresses and I don't wear them that much ! that was without any other clothes :rotfl2::rotfl2: lol DH said a few choice words. And I see now I may have a bit of a problem:scared1: what's a girl to do

Congratulations on your wedding anniversary:dance3::dance3:

By the way it was me, my birthday is 9th oct and our 25th anniversary while we are on board

Keep forgetting to ask this - what is the voltage of the power adaptor I need to bring for Spain and on the ship. Do not want to blow any lights out!! :lmao:

Hi Everyone,

Just back from Disneyland. We had an awesome time. I love, love, love California. I hope to live there someday. What I love about Disneyland is that everything is right there. The hotels, parks and Downtown Disney. You can walk to everything. We did Disneyland in the moring, Downtown Disney for lunch and California Adventure in the evening.

Karen, I'm so sorry to hear about Gary's Dad. I still miss mine a lot. I wish I could say it gets easier, but you do start remembering the good times after a while.

Noel, good luck to Sam in law school.

If we don't know where/when the Champagne Girls meet is, how will we know where/when to meet?

I thought I saw something on this forum some time ago about sharing of ebooks. We just got these (the eNook reader from Barnes & Noble) and I'm trying to learn how to use it. Is there a way to share books with others on the cruise?

Thanks,
Connie

I was hoping to purchase a silver Disney cruise ship charm (made by Chamillia, similar to Pandora beads) that has the Disney Cruise Line symbol on one side. I've seen pictures of this charm on the DIS boards from other cruises but have no idea how to find out if it will be available on the TA cruise. Evidently, these charms are only available on the ships, not in stores. Any advice on whom to contact? Thanks!
