Hmmmm... A few years ago I noticed that our mail was rather erratic. I would get notices in my mailbox that they tried to deliver something and that I wasn't here on days when I had been home watching the mailman put the notice IN my mailbox- he just didn't bother to walk up to my door (my house is up a slight hill!)

After that I always thought the mailman was slightly incompetent, but a lot of people in my neighborhood just loved him and thought he was so nice - which he was. We had a little girl in our neighborhood with leukemia and he would really go out of his way to bring her little surprises, etc.

Well, it turns out he couldn't physically handle the job and was not delivering any of the "junk mail" , but instead he was keeping it in his garage or burying it in his yard. He ended up being convicted of a felony: http://www.wral.com/news/state/story/3986500/

Of course, we all felt sorry for him and everyone rallied around him - I mean, all he did was not deliver the junk mail - and it was sad to see things end like that for him.

But anyway, I'm just saying, you never know what is going on with your mailman!

Regular mail... oh my... our's is deplorable in our area. My mom mailed me something last summer, only 120 miles away, and it took two WEEKS. And sometimes they will just skip our house (or street we think). It's very weird. At least we don't leave for four weeks (from today!).

Good morning! Hope everyone is having a great big beautiful today!!!! :cool1:

Man, I give up, it's impossible to make everyone happy on here, so just going to stop trying. It's not like we're all going to get plastered anyway, so feel free to bring the kids.
Signing off for today as had enough of the dis for one day.

just wanted to say thanks for the kind messages everyone, sorry about the mini rant last night, its been a bad few days planning wise between the airport transfer, the SM and a couple of other things, and just felt a bit peeved off and overwhelmed last night.

but its the start of another week now, and less than 5 weeks til we cruise, so lets banana dance  :dancer:  :dancer:  :dancer:

Karen, you've taken on A LOT for this group and clearly that comes w/ some frustration so you deserve a rant now and then. Just know that your efforts are appreciated! :goodvibes

 Maybe your docs will arrive today too! The Fed Ex man arrived about 8am here!

Yep that's true. I read through it as it has the itinerary plus my excursions, Palo's etc then took the luggage tags out and will keep the booklet at home. :)

Claire, I also love Pascal and Maximus!!! Great new avatar :thumbsup2

I called DCL this weekend to make dining requests (we wanted our servers from the last TA - Savio and Eka) and I asked when our documents should come. They said they are being mailed this week, so we should expect them in 2 weeks.

Don't know if that was the real answer or just an answer to placate the customer, but I sure hope we get them by two weeks, that seems like a long time. :rolleyes1

Definitely! Our's looks to be in his 20s, we don't have mailtrucks so it is personal vehicles, etc. I work from home - in the front room at the end of a culdesac - so usually am there to notice when he comes by. My mom used to deliver mail as well... you never know their life story because they always seem in such a rush to finish their route. :)

I remember when this happened! Amazing, isn't it?!

Yay I've just got back in and my doc's were at my neighbours waiting for me. Just like I said:)

I'm doing the happy doc dance :woohoo:

I know I saw someone on this board that lived in NYC or traveled there often. I'm wondering if using the discount tix booth, can you get tix for "Wicked," or should you get them ahead of time if you'd like to see that show? We're planning a trip in May to NYC for our anniversary.

If you really have your heart set on Wicked, I would buy them in advance. If you go to the ticket booth in Times Square there is no garuntee what tickets will be available. If you go to broadwaybox.com sometimes you can get two for 1 tickets. We use it all the time. Good luck.

My cruise booklet came via regular mail. I wonder if DCL is saving money in the continental US by not using FedEx?

I think so...the last few I've received have ALL been snail mail. But...... I believe they FedEx them when they are not so far out though - we came home from our last cruise to a FedEx package on the front porch...of our docs! :rotfl: But we had booked on board the previous cruise, so never thought they would even send any!!

Hey everyone Been very busy last couple week with personal trainer exams and i have now qualified as a spin instructor :cool1:
.......

I have to admit......still don't know what spinning is! I'm a gym novice & when DH & I go it's before everyone else is there (small gym, everyone has keys). There is a corner with a couple stationary bikes & some tapes & headsets, I've been meaning to check out, but it's not the same when you do it alone, I bet! Anyway, congrats on your achievement & maybe I can sneak a peek at people doing this on board! :cool1:

This just happened to me the other day, on a Fri!! I was so irritated with him because the post office here isn't even open on Sat. & we had to wait until Mon. to pick up something I was really tracking in the mail!!! So now I'm wondering what secret, sneaky thing he is doing..:lmao: We do have a few stairs to our house.....but still, he could have given me a shout-out to come get it!!!

Congrats to everyone getting those docs!! I will be curious to see if any restricted GTYs get theirs now too...and if they have room numbers. It's very close to that 30-day mark now! :hippie:

I called DCL and asked when the documents would come because we will be away the rest of this week and she told me they would come by regular mail.

Karentan, thank you again for all your efforts, and I'm sorry if we made you feel unappreciated.

The childcare issue can be a sore point - it's not something we want to keep having to deal with on holiday as it's such a pain in "regular life". When I heard the date was being changed, Binkytell wasn't the only one that worried about nursery availability... I was worried about it too but she was faster than me in checking it online. If there's no availability in the nursery, well, we're out of luck. I think it was just the disappointment talking when she asked about the late changes to the date. Not to speak for her, but I know that's what I was thinking.

I'm grateful if we're able to bring our kids along if no one minds, but I can understand that a lot of folks won't really want kids along on this event. I know it's not a piss-up, but no one expects toddlers to partipate in a pub crawl.

Maybe those of us that have to bring our kids along can hang together and bring up the rear of the group?

(do you think it would be really tacky to make our 2 year old a "pub crawl" t shirt? :upsidedow )

Hello Christiana,

My wife and I was in the first list, but unfortunately we need to cancel our participation in the candy Swap because of some lugagge's space. We will do a short domestic travel before to go to Barcelona and the size/weight of our luggages will be a big issue.

Thanks,

Tiago e Helena

not wanting to burst anyone's bubble - but I don't think kids are allowed in any of the bars except Promenade lounge:confused3

I keep meaning to ask you Sarah, how is Taryn getting on? Is she still liking it or is she homesick? I love looking at Bethan's photos, she seems to be having so much fun. :)

She is ok and enjoying it lots but she is always tired .... she works long hours and only has one day off a week. She hasn't been into the parks at all since we left .... on her day off she does laundry and food shopping. I don't think she expected such long hours but she is taking it her stride ... good thing she has been to WDW so many times before, so she isn't missing out. I think Bethan must work shorter hours or be more organised with her home life, as she seems to fit in a lot of socialising. She loves the job though. I think it may well put her off doing the year long programme.

Look what just arrived!!!!!!! :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cool1:  :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:

Does DCL happen to use the sports bar (or the like) during the day for any family activities? Like trivia, board games, etc. I know on other lines we would have activities in there, and then after a certain time in the evening kiddos were not allowed. I need to look for the old Navigators. The closer we get, the more questions that keep popping in my mind! :scared1:

If you booked through Dreams Unlimited, do the docs go there first and they forward to you, or do they come direct from Disney?

Congrats to everyone getting those docs!! I will be curious to see if any restricted GTYs get theirs now too...and if they have room numbers. It's very close to that 30-day mark now! :hippie:

Got ours today, too! :cool1: Larry picks up our mail at the post office (p.o. box), so he saw the DCL envelope first. He came rushing into the house, as excited as a little boy! :goodvibes He had felt the binder through the envelope and knew exactly what it was.

We booked through an online travel agent and are in a restricted GTY, so I don't think those things make any difference. Our luggage tags still say GTY :sad2:. They are certainly making us wait...not nice, Disney!

I made myself very happy last night by booking our Orlando hotel and a rental car from the port, and buying our BCN Bus Turistic passes online. It's all coming together nicely now. :thumbsup2

KAREN....of course, everyone appreciates your efforts on this board, but it's understandable you would be overwhelmed/annoyed at times. Sounds like you were able to take a deep breath and recoup...just like a good leader would :goodvibes. Thanks for everything!

:banana::cool1::banana::cool1::banana:: I'm moving and grooving for ya! As soon as we are blessed with our documents, I'll be "two-stepping" it all around the neighborhood! Glad you got your documents!!! :thumbsup2

Darn it - Jeremy is home from work today and you know he'll open them before i get home! I want to be the one that gets to breathe in that new document smell!

I checked the back of one of last year's Navs, and it states "Bars are solely for adults 18 and older, except during scheduled family events. Adults must be 21 and older to consume alcoholic beverages." I remember several family events being held in the Promenade Lounge and some in Rockin' Bar D (I really wish they had picked a different name :confused3 but that's a different topic), but I'm not sure about the others. Yes, the whole club area (Beat Street) is off limits to the under 18's after 9pm.

I think there was a general "game time" in the sportsbar area during the day b/c we saw children there playing board games w/ their folks on a few occasions.

Aww bless her, I can imagine working in one of the main shops in DHS is a very tiring job but what a shame that she hasn't had time to go to the parks. :guilty:
