Wanted to post an FYI from LindaBabe and I - if you are planning to buy Euros before leaving for Barcelona - this might be the best time. Consider that if the debt limit issue persists into next week, our US dollar will be devalued big time.
Went to AAA today and purchased our Euros - the rate today was 1.5127%. It takes a few days for them to arrive, but you are locked into the rate on the day of purchase.
Might be something to consider. Caroline

cruise is showing up as sold out again..... will they please stop teasing us people with GTY rooms?!!?

Funny you say that. I was just looking on Travelex to buy my Euros and GBP just now. You say you can buy them at AAA locations? Can you buy them if you are not a AAA member? There is one right by where I work.

UPS tried to delivery my cruise travel documents Friday but I was not home to sign for them. Hopefully they will leave them on my porch today. I left a delivery signature. I am still showing my same cabin 7512 that we picked. Was hoping for a "pixie dust" verandah upgrade, but I am just so grateful to be actually going on the cruise this year, hopefully, I should not speak to soon, anything can happen. God forbid.

Sue - I did have to show my AAA card. Just checked the Travelex rate, and AAA's is better today. They use Wells Fargo Bank.

Hmm, nothing from UPS for us on Friday. Can't wait to see if they left a stickie when I get home tonight!

This is what we had happen at our Ape visit. They went into the giftstore and "freed" one of the "trapped" Monkeys.

AWWWWWW, that is so cute. I am a huge animal lover, 2nd to Mickey/Disney. I may have to "free" one of those monkey's myself. DH is not going to be there to say "what do you need that for" ha ha ha. :rotfl2:

Be careful with what you buy or bring up there. The monkeys also "reclaimed" a stuffed monkey from a child when we were on the rock last year. Its funny to see the monkeys playing w/ a stuffed monkey, but you wouldn't want it to happen to you!

You can also get Euros from your bank. Not every bank will do it, but we use Sun Trust and have ordered Euros in the past. They just deduct the cost of them from your account.

How exciting for you. Nothing here either. I don't expect them for a couple of weeks yet.

I had to show my card, but I don't know if you MUST be a member.

I couldn't find a bank that would do it for a non-customer.

Thank you to the poster for the information on Europa Point! I might try it on my own.

Just wondering....I checked AAA online and found there is a $12 shipping fee for any purchase under $1000, in addition to possible exchange fees. Did you have to pay this? Not sure if it makes any difference to go into your local AAA or not. We're still trying to decide how much to get and where.

I think you're right. I cannot book it anymore.
I hope we get our assignment soon. We are VGT/GTY. I only know that we get a verrandah, but which one?????

Interesting, I just looked at my AAA receipt - no extra fees were charged, but it did say Travelex Currency online! She did say it comes through Wells Fargo, but the receipt clearly says Travelex Online. When I went to their site online after getting home from AAA, the rates listed were more than AAA charged me.
I determined the amount I needed based on the number of days we'll spend in Barcelona and Madeira. Gibraltar does not use Euros.

After seeing your post I decided to go up to my bank branch (Chase). Their rate is 1.526, but when ahead and ordered mine and some British Sterling as well 1.7269 . You just don't what tomorrow will bring. Mine will come from the downtown Chicago office and I will have them in a couple of days.:jumping1:

...It seems like learning how Disney does things would be some great skills for your career!

I attended a nursing continuing education program; they were following the book, "If Disney Ran Your Hospital, 9 1/2 Things You Would Do Differently." Oh, yeah, different mindset of organization. I think they even realized that people are more concerned with a caring attitude than competency. Imagine that with both the nurse who starts your IV and the CM running your roller coaster. (I suppose they expect competency, but they want to see the caring).

My cruise documents usually come regular US mail (I think). Maybe they just magically arrive by the front door. In our neighborhood, nearly every UPS delivery is made without signatures or leave-without-signature slips.

How much GBP are you guys needing? We are only in Gib for one day; the taxi drivers for the Rock tour take both euros and pounds (sterling or Gibraltar). Morrison's will certainly take credit cards. :confused3

Personally, I am going to take about 100 GBP as I don't want to pay the credit card or debit card conversion rates.

Oh I did not get much, just enough to buy liquor:drinking: and such. Also going with the private tour group so thought I might need to pay that in GBP. If I have any left over, I have friends in London I visit.

May I ask how much of each currency you ordered and will you get charged for shipping?
I can't believe that my financial institution doesn't deal with foreign currency! At least AAA does- but I'm trying to convert without major fees.

TIA....
