LOL..."trannies"...that's funny! Is that short for Transatlantic or is this going to be a very interesting cruise?

could be the first, could be the last! :rotfl: not sure who came out with it first, but i automatically read it as being transvestites!

Hi Jacqueline! Sending you best wishes for a quick recovery! It must be frustrating enough, not feeling well. You have 45 days still tho. Don't do anything rash, one day at a time. Sometimes a few days can make a big difference. Hope you can make it:thumbsup2

So I went and looked, and the first assignments started happening about 6-7 pm, and they continued on the next day....

I just have this feeling that tomorrow will be the day!!! I will be here waiting...:surfweb:

I was checking the thread for the EBTA that sailed May 14, 2011 and it looks like people were posting on March 31, 2011 and saying they got their cabin assignment....so it could be any day now!

I'm not sure we'll even need the neck pouch, but I thought it only fair that Dennis have to carry something around, too. On all our trips to WDW, he invariably says, "Honey, can you put this in your bag," and I end up feeling like a pack mule. Since he doesn't really know what's what with this trip, and I've talked up the pickpocket thing a bit, I figure I can get away with a little payback. :rotfl:

It's always the woman who carries the load, it seems :goodvibes. That's why DH and I shared the bag last time. I've decided on a money belt for him (because I don't want to leave any money at the hotel, even in a safe) and a small Pacsafe bag for myself (gotta take the camera). Mother is taking a neck pouch...I've given her "the talk", too. DD already has a Pacsafe bag for her laptop, etc.

My only concern at this point is safely getting from the Aerobus to our hotel with our luggage, but that's another topic (it's only a block, so should be manageable).

...Here's another one. I had a snowball at my Mum's last week, do you like advocaat? That takes lemonade too, so we are sorted  ...

Didn't know what you were talking about, so looked it up

Advocaat (or advokat) is a rich and creamy liqueur made from eggs, sugar and brandy. It has a smooth, custard-like flavor. In English-speaking countries it generally contains 15% alcohol (30 proof), but in Continental Europe the typical alcohol content differs from country to country and is generally somewhere between 14% and 20% ABV. Its contents may be a blend of egg yolks, aromatic spirits, sugar or honey, brandy, vanilla and sometimes cream (or evaporated milk). Notable makers of advocaat include Warners, Bols, Dwersteg (first organic advocaat), Verpoorten, Warninks, Cooymans, Jansen and De Kuyper.

Snowball
Ingredients:

* 1 1/2 oz Advocaat
* 8-10 oz cold Lemonade
* 1 slice Lemon
* Ice cubes

Mixing instructions:

Place one ice cube in the glass and add 1 1/2 oz of Advocaat. Fill up the glass with lemonade and decorate with a slice of lemon. Serve at once.

It is just a nickname we came up with ages ago. It was a joke that kind of stuck in my head. :lmao:

Yep that's the one....commonly known as a Snowball in the UK. :thumbsup2

even in Alabama:

We had a white Christmas in 2010; that's our dogwood tree and the pool screenhouse behind:

It was still there the next day (which is unusual); puppy tracks in the snow:

And more snow in January, which stayed on the ground for at least 5 days.

Beautiful photos :thumbsup2

Yay, this was pretty too...................NOT:scared1::scared1:. In the parking lot at my place in Feb.

WOW ... thats a a lot of snow. Wouldn't like to have to dig my way out of that. We have a light covering over here and the whole country panics and comes to a complete standstill ... we are never prepared for it.

No I didn't know that Boots is a pharmacy, but that sounds like an unusual place to sell alcohol ... unless this time they actually aren't talking about alcohol. I'm so confused :confused3

Boots is a pharmacy / toiletries etc shop and doesn't sell alcohol. I think Mary was talking about decanting her alcohol ( Cassis ) into the 100mls empty toiletry bottles you can buy in Boots so she doesn't have to bring a whole bottle. Great idea :thumbsup2

ewwwwwww Advocaat .... second only to tomato juice in my list of vile concoctions .... even thinking about either of those makes me feel :sick: I used to have lots of problems when working as a bartender on cruise ships as so many people used to order drinks like Bloody Mary in the morning

I'm with you on the Tomato Juice.

Not sure why I have not thought to share this story with you lot before but just thought I would now.

Before we opened up our childminding from home I was a nanny as was Annemarie (this is how we met).
Well many moons ago I decided I would like to work on a cruise ship with the littlies, and low and behold Disney had a new ship they were getting ready for, the ship was called Magic !

So I called over to Florida and alas interviews in London had already taken place and onto round two.
Never mind I thought, but then I get a call to say we would have put you through due to your experience so be in London tomorrow.

So I went and did all the maths tests ect and waited for a call back which then consisted of a panel interview. I was offered the job and went for a briefing of the terms of the contract. Money was just not enough (I was on a very high wage due to the calibre of people I worked for) and although I could prob have dealt with this I didn't like the idea I might also have to call bingo lol.

So years later I am finally making the "magic" happen for me and wonder if they will let me take a nosy in the nursery.

Wow great story.

I have heard that if you go straight to the nursery when you get onboard then they will usually let you have a look around as there won't be any children in there. :thumbsup2

But snow can be so pretty

and so much fun

Ice storms are pretty

but not always fun

Loving all the snow pics, it is so pretty but I just don't like having to drive in it.

Ohhh, Pimms is a drink? I thought you guys were talking about these yummy goodies ...

pims.jpg

:rotfl2: Sorry, yes Pimms is an alcoholic drink. If you come & find Mary & I by the pool we will have a jug of it and you can try it. :thumbsup2

So I guess when Mary was talking about snowballs she wasn't talking about these ...

14_snowballs.jpg

ETA: whoa, didn't know picture was going to be that big!

:rotfl: Again it was alcohol......there is a theme here. ;)

See Auntlynne's post for a perfect description of Snowballs. :thumbsup2

I've heard of drinking from a slipper .. but boots?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

You really need to visit England just so you can understand what on earth we are withering on about.

Hi Claire :wave2: :wave2: :wave2: see you in 45 days

I thought of you this afternoon in Epcot when we were in the wine shop in Italy. I spotted the Rosa Regale and thought there was enough there to keep you and Mary going for about a week :lmao:

:rotfl2: Maybe we should call DCL & tell them to stock up. Have you tried it yet?

Hope your having a great time in WDW.

No I didn't know that Boots is a pharmacy, but that sounds like an unusual place to sell alcohol ... unless this time they actually aren't talking about alcohol. I'm so confused :confused3

:lmao: I'm sorry we confused you so much Karen but you've given me a good laugh this morning. ;)

Mary & I were going to share a bottle of Cassis to go with our Champagne but as you don't need lots of it Mary suggested that we buy some empty plastic travel bottles from Boots (Pharmacy) and fill them at home with cassis and take them with us in our hand luggage. I hope that explains it.....:thumbsup2

I did this many times, with no problem. CMs just want you to use a cup; how many times you fill it up is of no concern as long as you're not drinking from it as you fill!

Thank you, I really didn't want to waste too many cups. :)

I'm not sure we'll even need the neck pouch, but I thought it only fair that Dennis have to carry something around, too. :rotfl2: Pay back!!! Poor Dennis. ;)

I must be lucky as usually on holiday we carry a rucksack/backpack with our camera and lens in along with everything else, Lee always carries it as it's so heavy. :lovestruc

It's nice not to carry a bag for a change. :goodvibes

This is Pimms with Lemonade (or Sprite/7Up in the US)....

Pimms-Serve-Image.jpg

And, yes, those are sliced cucumbers in there! It just doesn't taste right without the cucumbers! It really is amazing, and a lovely summer drink.

Wow great story.

I have heard that if you go straight to the nursery when you get onboard then they will usually let you have a look around as there won't be any children in there. :thumbsup2

Good idea, but barring that, you are welcome to tag along with us sometime during drop-off if you want to get in the door for a quick peak :) I'll have a child in the nursery and in the kids' club, so there will be lots of back and forth trips.

Pretty snow pics Lynne. :thumbsup2

Evelyn I could not cope with that amount of snow!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Here are a few from Disneyland Paris in December, not much snow but it looked pretty! :cold:

Sorry I got a bit carried away.

Marilyn, maybe Disney has made the desserts smaller because that's what most people want, especially when they would like to taste more than one dessert. Ed and I have been known to share a sampler before, when we were so full that dessert wouldn't have otherwise been an option. There's only so many chocolate sauced plates of nothing you can get on one cruise  (for new cruisers pay no attention the previous statement :goodvibes)

There is that, though the dessert portions weren't big prior to that cruise. I really thought they were tiny, not just small!!!:rotfl2: A minute square of cheesecake on a large plate. Looked like what you get with the mini dessert trio. I got one of those a couple of times on that cruise and each of those were like the size of chocolate!

Desserts are important to me!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You'll have to start ordering two desserts each meal. :thumbsup2

Pickpocketing etc. They often work in pairs. One will try and distract you somehow, even just by saying a friendly hello and asking if you need help while the other gets up to mischief.

In the Dis group last year that we chatted to in Barcelons, 3 had attempts on them. 2 of those were hands in their pocket. One man we chatted to was on a bus trip to Montserrat and one of the tour group had had his wallet taken.

On one of the UK boards someone had their hand bag taken.

I don't think we have to be scared, just aware. It happens in all cities but Barcelona happens to be pretty close to the top of the list. Just don't make it easy for them and enjoy the visit to the beautiful city.

Good Morning :) Wow lots of posts to catch up on.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Unfortunately the CC reuseable mugs have a sports cap. The alcohol doesn't quite taste the same out of them :lmao::lmao:

We don't like the taste of the water in the Castaway Cay metal sipper cups. It is very strange. I prefer plastic.
No the tin ones are not nice. We have the older plastic CC cups, but they still have the sippy thing on the top of them.

but we already had our cabin, we are in cabin 6015 a sideways on deck six, very confused now lol :rotfl2:

panic over, they have cancelled an excursion we had booked for st maarten, so i think they shut our booking while they removed it from our list, sadly no pixie dust still the same cabin lol
Hopefully you will get sorted with another excursion Sue.

could be the first, could be the last! :rotfl: not sure who came out with it first, but i automatically read it as being transvestites!
That's what came to my mind when I first saw it too Karen.

All the snow photos reminds me of the horrible winter we had this year and are making me feel cold!

Polite notice to Disney Cruise Line

Please could you be nice to your loyal fans and put us out of our stinking misery. If you could be so kind as to post the room assignments in the next 5 hours before I get home from work that'd be lovely.
If you can't, maybe we'll all go over to Royal Carribean instead :rotfl:

Thanks,
Everyone on the disboards!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I think you should all "NO LONGER CARE" then maybe it will happen. ;)

Still no joy Karen?

I've just been doing a dummy booking with the MEO code - there are a few 11b's on deck 5 left and 7a GTY's only. That's all.

Hopefully it will be soon for all you GTY'ers.
