Just watched a special about the Disney cruise line on Netflix instant view - that just gets me more worked up to hurry and go - ha. This is my first cruise around the Caribbean, and they mentioned that the Flying Dutchman was placed at Castaway Cay. It was not the newest of shows so I was wondering if it was still there? And welcome to all the newcomers!
Blake ... but not the Carrington one ;)

Well, we're definitely going to ditch the October cruise in favor of a week at the parks. I may see if we can transfer the ressie - with the onboard booking discount - to another cruise, but if not, we haven't yet entered the penalty phase, so no harm done there.

I may have to call for the ressies, though. I've been trying to book online and when I plug in the dates to see what's available I seem to get the "please wait while we complete your request" in an endless loop. :headache:

Yay! You are going to have a magical week for your anniversary :lovestruc
I never seem to have any trouble w/ the reservation system - maybe I'm just lucky or I check it during slower times, I dont' know. Pat, do you want me to check some dates/times for you? Just let me know!

I'm a bit excited .... just booked a night away in London with Tony for next weekend, staying at a Holiday Inn in Bloomsbury ( virtually free using priority club points gained from our Orlando trip ). Outward train fare upgraded to first class for £4 extra each :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 and booked tickets to go see "Love Never Dies" before it finishes in August. Can't wait for next weekend now :woohoo: :woohoo:

How nice! I love little weekend trips. Does Tony know or is it a surprise?

Hi guys. Quick post, op went well but havent been able to eat or drink really anything since. Darn hosp sent me home cause protocol is home in 2 days. Was thursday afternoon, ambulanced to own hosp satmorn. Back on ivfluids and trying rebuild my feedings. At least proper care here. Not Sure when can go home.

Candyswap; sign up in my pm, but answer not coming soon, sorry! If box is full, contact me via MY facebook. Can be found on wbta facebook.

Sorry for language, phone and brain not working.

Jacqueline I am so glad to hear from you and that your surgery did happen this time. Sorry about your eating problems, its not fun to be weak - but those IV fluids really do help though don't they? Wishing a full & speedy recovery for you.

I have been away from the boards for a while so this may have already been discussed but I was wondering for those of you who have done this cruise before or something similar in length how much luggage do people tend to bring?:cheer2::cool1::rotfl2:

As much as possible without having to pay extra airline fees. But this time I think I will bring an extra bag for onboard purchases since we won't be flying back home after the cruise.

:sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:
We had a magical moment this time .... waiting in the line for Philharmagic, a little boy threw up good style and the cast members were exceptionally quick to relocate the line, deposit the child over a bucket and cover the affected area with magic sand.

Did the magic sand have pixie dust in it?

Thanks for all the well wishes for Lorelei's birthday. 2 has come really fast and I imagine it only gets faster from here.

It was so much fun and my mom made an awesome cake. I'll have to post a pic later. It was Disney junior themed... so Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Handy Manny, and Special Agent Oso.

Yes do post pics of the party. It sounds really great.

Okay, I'm back on the DISboards....

My Mother passed away last Saturday after a lengthy battle with MS & ALS...this last month was difficult for her. :sad1: So sad.... This week was a long, sad one, but it is over. I did find out that I have absolutely wonderful friends...I am so fortunate! Now back to my normal, crazy life. Looking forward to an enjoyable cruise to rejuvenate my spirit. :thumbsup2

I am deeply sorry for your loss Peggy. Losing a parent is so hard - especially to a degenerative disease. My father passed away years ago (he had MD) and while you move on and the pain lessens, I don't know if you ever completely recover.  Sending warm thoughts your way.

My name is Lisa, 47 and my daughter is JoAnna, 27. We are from Florida. I think it is our 9th Dis cruise but daughter thinks it's out 10th. :confused3 Booked into a Cat 9 GTY room. Already contacted Pat about the FE. Still trying to figure everything else out with meetups, excursions, tshirts etc. We are going to be flying into London for a few days pre cruise and then off to Barcelona for a night. BTW, if anyone else is going to London. LivingSocial has a 1/2 price 3 hours double decker bus tour for 8 pounds today, roughly $13 I believe. Here's the link they gave me if you need it. http://livingsocial.com/deals/68975?ref=conf-jp&rpi=20171237

So excited about the cruise but now we have to hurry up and book stuff, I hate that. Thank you to whoever put the London link on the first page. :worship: Very helpful. I hope to see some of the people from last year on this cruise. It was an incredible cruise!

Welcome Lisa & JoAnna. We are Liz & Joe from Florida also - but on the other coast, in Sarasota.

Yes the Dutchman is still at Castaway Cay. :thumbsup2

Sorry to say it has been gone a while...we were there in March & again in May, but no ship. :sad2:

I understand it was disintegrating in the water since it was built as a prop & not to withstand the salt water. Maybe they will retore & bring it back...we can always hope so. :thumbsup2

Very sorry for your loss. :flower3:
I'm so glad you had loving friends around for you to help you through the sadness.

Hi Y'all! :wave2::wave2::wave2:
Hope I'm on the right thread now. You guys are fast! :rotfl2: My daughter and I have finally booked. We did the last Med cruise last year and begged to be able to continued on to Cape Canaveral...no room at the Inn. :sad2: Oh well. We are doing it this time!! :cheer2::yay::banana::banana::yay::cheer2: Woohoo!!!
My name is Lisa, 47 and my daughter is JoAnna, 27. We are from Florida. I think it is our 9th Dis cruise but daughter thinks it's out 10th. :confused3 ...!

Welcome! We lose track of how many cruises sometimes too - I recently visited the CC link on the DCL site to find out! :rotfl2:
This will be cruise number 14 for me (12th on the Magic), but DH can't come this time so I'm going with friends...and even more new friends from the DIS!!

.

John and I have mentioned before that we plan to be in the Promenade Lounge by 3PM to distribute lanyards and pins.

Thanks so much. As much as I have loved keeping up with the posts it seems the closer the cruise gets the harder it is to keep up.

Looking forward to meeting you and thanks again for all of the coordination you have done to make this cruise extra special to the Dis'ers.

Not a problem!! I am always happy to help with any questions!!

Looking forward to meeting you as well. See you in September!

We did the dessert party going on 2 years ago and both loved it. Whether it is worth the $'s would be personal, and I would think you would get both answers. We thought it was as we just love desserts. Things might have changed since then of course about how they run the event etc. You had your own table which was reserved with your name on it. We also enjoyed seeing Wishes from a different perspective with Tinkerbell flying almost above. We moved over to the viewing area to watch.

There was a lot of choice of desserts and they were replenished regularly. No problems going back as often as you want.;) The chocolate covered strawberries did run out quickly so grab those first!!! Plenty of non alcoholic drinks.

I would say do it. If I could eat all those desserts now I would book again.

We LOVE  desserts, so I think it will be worth it! They have three times listed on the website (7:00, 8:00, & 9:00), and according to the calendar the MK is open til 10:00 the night I want to go. I'd like to book the 9:00 time (closer to Wishes time), but will there still be lots of desserts (like chocolate covered strawberries) at that time? If we book earlier, would we just be sitting there for a couple of hours til the fireworks go off?

Hi guys. Quick post, op went well but havent been able to eat or drink really anything since. Darn hosp sent me home cause protocol is home in 2 days. So glad your surgery went well! I hope the post op care improves and you have a speedy recovery.

We've never been to Flying Fish but a 6 course meal sounds fab, I am sure it will be special way to celebrate your anniversary.

We did the Wishes Dessert party a few years ago, it was good but we weren't that hungry so it wasn't worth the $$'s on that occasion but if you go hungry and have a very sweet tooth then I am sure you'll eat your monies worth. ;) It is nice seeing Wishes from a less crowded area but it's strange seeing how far away the fireworks are, compared to standing infront of the castle. I don't think i'd rush to do it again but i'm glad we did it once.

We always seem to end up watching Wishes from a strange angle, at a distance. Probably b/c we're not willing to park ourselves in the prime viewing places hours beforehand.

And thanks for the pics - I was almost ready to lick my laptop screen! :rotfl:

ditto, we did it a couple of years ago, liked it, but agree about the fireworks being off centre, and also it was kinda spoiled by the kid standing next to me throwing up.

Eew. I guess so.

Nice!!!

Reminds me of a magical experience we had last year, we were exiting the monorail at MK and walking down the ramp when some kid charged off of the monorail and threw up from the platform at the top all down the wall where we were walking......

Eew.

:sick::sick::sick::sick::sick:

So do you people just attract barfing kids or something? ;)

I'm so sorry for your loss. Dennis lost his father a couple of years ago, and it was very difficult for him.

Yay! You are going to have a magical week for your anniversary :lovestruc
I never seem to have any trouble w/ the reservation system - maybe I'm just lucky or I check it during slower times, I dont' know. Pat, do you want me to check some dates/times for you? Just let me know!

Thanks for the offer, but I ended up calling them. Turns out the October dates for the dessert party haven't been entered into the system yet. I'll have to keep checking regularly - sounds like it fills up fast.

I asked them about the Flying Fish Chef's dinner, but when they quoted the price, I started thinking, "We could almost do Vicky & Bert's for that." So I think I'll talk it over with Dennis and see if he wants to splurge on V&B's or just go to Cali Grill.

And it's a good thing I called, too. When the CM asked for my resort ressie number, we discovered they had it booked for November, not October!! :scared1::scared1: I almost had a heart attack! So she got me to a resort ressie CM who fixed it right away. It even came out $100 less! So it's a good thing the dining website wasn't working for me, otherwise I might not have discovered the error for a while.

Well, V&A is on your Bucket List and it's not a whole lot more + it's your anniversary... what are you waiting for? Can you get a reservation?

Peggy - I am sorry to hear of the passing of your mother. This cruise will be one of great memories and healing for you.
Hello to all you new cruisers - you have a a great group of folks here to welcome you, and catch you up on everything. :thumbsup2 Caroline

We are just about to sit and watch a movie before bed, don't know what we're watching, but it will sure feel great to just sit and relax. Yesturday and the day before we made salsa - 22 jars! That should be the last of it as we also made 22 jars in May. :jumping1:

We know how that feels. My husband makes (to quote him) "the world's most perfect salsa". And it is very hard to disagree with him. Do you make yours hot or mild or both?

My Mother passed away last Saturday after a lengthy battle with MS & ALS...

so sorry to hear of your loss, i hope she is at peace now and that you and your family are coping with the loss.

our carry-on will be full of FE gifts, and I can't wear them (well, I guess I could ask for a lot of tape and create something wearable, but it might attract a bit of attention :scared1:)!

now that's be a sight to see! :rotfl:

Thanks so much. As much as I have loved keeping up with the posts it seems the closer the cruise gets the harder it is to keep up.

auntlynne does a great weekly recap for anyone who doesn't want to go through 40-odd pages a week. the most current one is always on the front page :thumbsup2

Eew. I guess so.

welcome to all our new cruisers!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I had an uncle pass away with ALS, so we know how difficult it is.

Hi Y'all! :wave2::wave2::wave2:
Hope I'm on the right thread now. You guys are fast! :rotfl2: My daughter and I have finally booked.

Welcome! We are Leanne, DH Ken, and DD Morgan (9). We are from Alberta, Canada, but we live in Crimea, Ukraine. This is our first every cruise and we are so excited!:dance3::banana:

We know how that feels. My husband makes (to quote him) "the world's most perfect salsa". And it is very hard to disagree with him. Do you make yours hot or mild or both?

We made two batches of mild and one medium and one hot. My earlier batches were mild because it is very hard to get jalepenos here, for our medium and hot, an American friend brought me a jar of jalepenos, so it was much tastier. :cool1:

Thought you'd like to know that the correct Disney term for what you've been describing is a "protein spill." Sounds better when it comes over the radio.

Well I never knew that ... :rotfl2:

Here are a couple of our pictures from Gilbraltar, sorry never had photobucket until today. The first one is ape with my DH, I asked my husband to get closer. The one picture is of the ape taking over our van, he would not stop blowing the horn.

I don't like the look that ape is giving your DH ...very scary :scared1:

Unfortunately the Dutchman is no longer in Castaway Cay, she has had to go and pay a visit with Davy Jones :sad2: It is a shame as she used to look amazing out there in the bay

How nice! I love little weekend trips. Does Tony know or is it a surprise?

He knows .... he had to make sure he had the time off work .. so no surprise, but it should be a nice break ... even for just 2 days.

Jacqueline, glad to see that you finally got your needed op - best wishes for a super-speedy recovery!

It looks as if I am about 50 pages behind in reading....What have I missed? :rolleyes1 Guess I'll find out as I slowly catch up. Doesn't look like we have our room assignment yet - my husband is obsessively checking every day....it's actually kind of funny! ;)
Peggy I'm sorry for your loss -

Nice to see you back posting:)

Good job you called them & the $100 saved could go towards V&A's. ;)
