OMG, that is so great! I just can't believe all the great things DCL does for kids. I hope I am not expecting too much, because I really think this is going to be the best cruise EVER!

They do give the kids sashes... and they announce them as they enter the Tea Party... "Announcing Princess Sarah" etc... and everyone claps...

They're also building Prince Eric (?) castle in Fantasy land where Aeriel's grotto/ Pooh's wood used to be. Toontown was also closed, so the expabsion is going to be big.

From what I have been told, there will be a Voyage of the Little Mermaid (I sure hope they are going to change the name of the show at the Studios or that will be confusing) and "Be Our Guest" Restuarant themed of course after Beauty and the Beast, There will be a seven dwarves mine ride, Snow White's Scary Adventure will be going away and in it's place will be a Princess meet 'n' greet.

:cool1: heres your princess pat, not got pic in a princess dress yet but got one on order ready for tea

So adorable!!!
Having 2 boys I have NEVER been to the Bibbity Bobbity Boo-tique BUT I have always remembered it because of the way I first heard about it.

That is a touching story. Makes me change my mind slightly about the BBB. Not a big fan of it because of the way some of those little girls come out looking. But you are right. Disney's service is one of the best.

I have finished putting my scrapbook exchange stuff together last night I just now have to write names and room numbers on it. I also have to figure out what to hang from my fish to put my scrapbooking stuff in. One of my friends who is coming with us but is not on the Disboards was asking me about the scrapbook exchange as she has just recently started to scrapbook (like in the past month) she really wanted to sign up but I will have to let her know it's closed. I forgot it was this far into the month. You ever have where you know how long is until you leave but it still seems so far away??:confused3

On the great side, thanks to *Flower* and her wonderful DH:worship: who helped me out with the dealership I have found out that my A/C for my car should be covered under my extended warranty. No $1100 and waiting 2 months to get it fixed.:cool1::cool1: I am super excited.

:grouphug: Wow.

I do a lot of volunteer work for an organization promoting regifting life... organ donation... and come across transplant recipients regularly, especially at events. One is a two year old liver recipient, and as luck would have it, her mom grew up across the street from my parents where they moved my freshman year of college, so I knew her vaguely. Of course the anti-rejection meds may have something to do with the cancer she is now in remission for, but she is such a sweet little girl. I just saw a calendar shoot the local children's hospital is doing, and she is a fairy. So amazing seeing her pictures. That is awesome the BBB did that for that little girl in that blog. :lovestruc

They do give the kids sashes... and they announce them as they enter the Tea Party... "Announcing Princess Sarah" etc... and everyone claps...

princess: And to think that my Princess Emilie will now be able to toddle her little self  in her sash :cloud9: Breathe in, breathe out...

Ditto! :thumbsup2

Having 2 boys I have NEVER been to the Bibbity Bobbity Boo-tique BUT I have always remembered it because of the way I first heard about it.

A little girl in our neighborhood came down with leukemia when she was 3. It was horrible - one day her parents took her to the pediatrician for what they thought was a cold and the next thing they know the doctor is telling them he has called for a helicopter to airlift her to the children's hospital. It is a heartbreaking story with a happy ending - after a two year battle she beat the cancer and is now a healthy, happy, beautiful 7 yo girl. In fact, I think my son has a little crush on her as she was the only girl he listed on a long list of friends he wants to invite to his first sleepover!! :scared1:

But things were bleak there for a while and her dad kept an online journal for friends and family to keep track of what happened. And that is how I first heard of the BBB. She had been undergoing chemo and had lost all her hair. They decided to take the family to Disney for vacation. Here is an entry her father posted about their first day in Orlando for their family vacation at WDW:

There is something magical about Disney. On Saturday morning we woke up and went over to Downtown Disney to pick up our tickets for the parks and take a quick look around. Kinda ease the kids into it a bit.
We ended up in the Disney Princess store, basically where the sell all the girly stuff. As we were walking around, we noticed that there is a ‘little girl spa’ in the back called Bibbity Bobbity Boutique. It is a place where young girls go and get their hair, makeup, nails etc done and dress up like one of the Disney Princesses. I guess in the under 10 demographic, it is a pretty important place.
So… alone, I walk up to the girl at the ‘completely overrun with young girls and their family’ front desk and ask if they have just nail polish services. She says no, they only do full packages of hair, nails, makeup. I explain to her that Haidyn has no hair. She replies that they can work with fine or thin hair. So I point over to Haidyn, the girl looks, and then… the Magic begins…..
She looks at the girl next to her and says “I need room for a special one.” Then she waves to Haidyn and brings us back into the fancy salon area.
This place is packed with young girls in various stage of princess-ification. Two of the Fairy Godmothers instantly sweep up Haidyn and she is now the star of the whole place. (I feel a little bad for the other little girls - everyone that works there wants to be part of Haidyn’s experience. I counted 5 beauticians and 2 photographers elbowing their way in.)
With her salon cape on, she selects her nail polish, all kinds of makeup, and of course jewelry. (I’ll post a video when we get back) After a good 30-40 minutes of princess-ification they apply her sash, a fair amount of pixie dust to her head and spin her towards the mirror to show her the results.
Of the 30 or so people in the spa, there wasn’t anyone with a dry eye. In all her glory – Haidyn is now officially a Princess. They had taken a girl with no hair and made her the fairest princess of them all.
We had been in Orlando 12 hours and the Magic was already in full swing. Of course there is more, but we are off to dinner so I’ll try to catch up later.

What a wonderful story. My DSIL is a pediatric oncologist and told us a story of a little girl with leukemia. she had never had her hair cut, and that day they (the staff at Arnold Palmer) were cutting her hair to have a wig made. He sat with her and held her hand thru the whole thing. Mom and Dad said having her own hair back would make such a difference. We never heard the outcome, but Disney magic spreads far and wide.

That was the most beautiful story and I am thrilled to hear that she has done so well.
My late dh felt that the magic surrounded him - every time he would get out of the hospital, we would try to head to WDW, even for a few days, since it seemed to revive his spirits. If you do believe, as we did/do, real magic is in the heart of the beholder.
Thank you for sharing!!!

I think (correct me if I'm wrong, Christina) you only give to the "repeaters" once. So if you're on list 1 you only need to give to "new" people on lists 2-4.

That's correct:) You only have to give the repeaters once.
It was just necessary to make groups with repeats to fulfill peoples request regarding number off cabins.

Good morning everyone .... I am just logging on to wish you all a happy weekend. We are away for the weekend to Nottingham in England for the WBTA 2011 Reunion Get-together, with Warren and Abby, Jan and Carl and Julie from the 2011 WBTA. Hope to take a few photos :thumbsup2 When we get back it will be less than 3 weeks to go :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Such an amazing story, I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes, however it doesn't surprise me, Disney just goes the extra mile : ))))

Oh, I'm just sobbing here! (Must be those darn seasonal allergies.)

I'm beyond sobbing and am down right blubbering! How lovely they were able to make her feel so special. Having only a boy I've been a bit crusty I supposed about BBB. Now I have a new attitude.

I'd be happy to include her in my scrapbook stuff. Considering I haven't even started :scared1: it's not a problem to include one more. Do you know which character is her favorite?

OK, now I must get back to work. I have 2 grants due in 12 hours (4 p.m. today). It's my last bit of work before the cruise. Beginning tomorrow I turn all my efforts toward getting Andrew and I all ready to go. EEEK!

Keri

Disney has not forgotten the guys. The BBB also turns out "Cool Dudes" and knights. They are certainly in the minority, but I've seen some very happy young gents with swords in hand.

My current favorite tee shirt is "REAL MEN WEAR MOUSE EARS"--so you know where I'm coming from. As mom to two sons, I think guys need the magic too.

OK, my dear sweet retired Larry is spending way too much time reading these boards :surfweb:....one of the first things he said to me when I got home from work today (before I even sat down!) was "Well, PFlamingo quit her job." :woohoo:I had to laugh! You'd think we all actually know each other.

I love that! It made me LOL. :rotfl2:

Hi Larry - we know your reading.

I felt that way last year, only to discover that most people don't give very large or homemade gifts. I think I overdid it a bit, but it was a learning experience. This year, I'm making (actually, more like assembling) something small for each cabin, with a little something extra for the kids. I'm still concerned people won't like them, but....oh, well. I'm lugging them in my carry-on bags on the plane, along with candy for the swap, so I'm hoping TSA won't give me a problem ;). I'll have an explanation ready (I'm going to a wedding and I'm in charge of the favors.....:rolleyes1)

I am sure your FE gifts will be fine, it really is just some fun so don't stress over it.

That's another example of 'open mouth-insert foot'. I'm really really good at that. Also of not reading my replies before I post them. I can be your comedy relief anytime - just whistle. Jean

:rotfl2: It gave me a little chuckle this morning. That's the sort of thing my mum says all the time. :)

Such a wonderful experience for the family I am a blubbering wreck right now!

Thanks for sharing.

Your friend is more than welcome to come along to the scrapbook coffee & chat meet at Cove Cafe. :) We still don't have a time & day as i'm waiting for DCL to confirm all the other tastings etc so we can choose a time that doesn't clash with everything else.

Get news on your car! :cool1:

I'm sure she would be welcome to join in the Scrapbook meet at the Cove Cafe.

Have a fab weekend Sarah, i'm looking forward to seeing your pics. :)

I'm sure she would be welcome to join in the Scrapbook meet at the Cove Cafe.

That is a great idea. I will let her know about that. Any ideas she can get would be helpful.

I'd be happy to include her in my scrapbook stuff. Considering I haven't even started :scared1: it's not a problem to include one more. Do you know which character is her favorite?

Awww that would be sweet. She has been resisting scrapbook indoctrinization for years (although she is a very crafty type person). :lmao:What started her was when her husband bought her a Mediterranian scrapbook so she could scrap their Med cruise from last year. After about two get togethers she told me this is a bit time consuming but it is fun. That's when I knew I had her. :rotfl: BTW her favorite characters are Beauty and the Beast.

My husband asked me today what the countdown was. And not including today we have 12 days of work left:scared1::cool1::banana: I can almost smell the Chocolate Souffle from here:love:

Hi everyone,

I have a favor to ask. Right now I'm a disorganized mess! Can you please email me your screen name, stateroom number and favorite character so that I can get my projects done? I thought I had created a spreadsheet with this information, but alas, it is nowhere to be found (guess I only thought about doing it.....).

My email is msklcassidy at hotmail dot com. Sorry to spell it out, but it does avoid those who fish to fill my inbox with spam!

Thanks,

Karen

Thanks so much for the clarification!!!!! :thumbsup2 Wow. Would have so messed that one up!

So I need to keep a lookout for:
~ Character Breakfast (based on dining time/rotation)
~ Alice's Tea Party (sign up at Guest Services I assume)
~ Prince/Princess Tea (RSVP at gift shop)

And I am hoping there is the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique onboard as well. Just to let Sarah get pampered a little. (Her poor, poor Daddy when she becomes a teenager....)

I'll be looking out for those things as well.:yay:

Morgan has been asking me every few days about the Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, I keep telling her we'll have to wait until we are onboard. I wish it was something we could pre-book, that would make her life much more stable!:rotfl:

I wonder if all you moms could get together and do a little BBB time with your little girls, and boys if they want something. Take some sparkly spray, hair pins, tiaras, kiddie make up and have a little party. I haven't noticed anything onboard before like BBB but there again I am not normally looking.;)

I said, "Well, I've got a lot to do before this trip, so I might as well give you this now," and handed him my bagger badge.

He looked a bit surprised, but said, "Okay." And that was it. I gave the Assistant Head Bagger a big hug and told her how much I enjoyed working for her, and walked out.
You handled that so well! glad to hear you got it all sorted out :thumbsup2
