Karen, if we end up with only 12 people for the bus, I'm sure the other 10 of us would be happy to chip in to cover the extra cost. You shouldn't have to pay it--especially since you did all the work to organize it. Hopefully, the ones you haven't heard from are just away for a bit of vacation. It seems only fair that you open it up to others if you don't hear back from them.

Wow, this thread is certainly moving along.

First, belated happy returns for your 50th Pat. I finally made it to DisneyWorld for my 50th, with all my nephews and niece to help celebrate my special day, and have never looked back. Only thing I missed that year was a Disney cruise, which I managed to book when we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary 2 years later.

Welcome to all new cruisers, hope you are getting excited, the countdown is on.

Looks like Australia and England are having the same sort of weather at the moment; I really need some sun.....

Looking back on the posts I see some of you have bought from ebay, need some advice regarding delivery of items bought, I have seen a dress that I would like for the cruise, source of the item is China, do you think I would get delivery before I leave on the 1st September. Never used ebay before so unsure of the whole concept.

Make sure you check their feedback .. they should also state delivery times and in the feedback in may say whether they achieve these .. .. also it shouldn't take as long to come to Australia really as to Uk and it usually takes 2 - 3 weeks to come here from China / Hong Kong.

Perhaps you could meet some people at the hotel who are going on the cruise who AREN'T Dis'ers who you could get to come along with you last minute.

Important info re: airport transfer

so far we've had confirmation (and payment greatfully received) from 12 people out of the maximum of 16. still waiting for confirmation from lionessa and thepicketts (hasnt been online since june which i'm concerned about and hasnt responded to a facebook PM). i'm very reluctant about leaving the booking any longer in case they get fully booked up.

i've gone ahead and requested the booking for 16 people. if i havent heard from the other two groups within the next week, i'll have no option but to take them off the list and open it up again for other people to join in. worse case scenario and we end up with 12 people in a 16 capacity coach, i'll just take the hit on the extra charge, but i hope to be able to fill their spaces back up if needed.

will keep everyone updated as soon as i hear back from them and get confirmation of the booking.

we're going straight from the airport to the cruise terminal, i'm sure we'll either hear back from the others eventually, or we'll get more people.
either that or i could get hold of the company closer to the time and try and downgrade to a smaller coach. i just wanted to get the large bus booked and paid for so i know we're sorted in advance

jill, i've just added the scuba excursions to the calendar :)

Thank you... we are booked up for the Tortola dive but we do have a few spaces left for the Shark dive at St Maarten's. if any one is interested please PM me....

I have been toying with the idea of joining the candy swap. I looked around for some "local" candy I could bring that was individually wrapped and wasn't chocolate (which I think will melt in my baggage). I also wanted it to be small enough to pack and bring. I couldn't find anything.

I think my kids would love doing this - almost like trick or treating, but in reverse - you bring candy to others cabins, then they bring it to you! But I'm not even sure if I can bring candy overseas and through customs, what would travel well, and how much space I would have for it.

Is it acceptable etiquette to just buy something in Barcelona as opposed to trying to bring something that represents your area? I know the deadline for the candy swap is approaching...

Then I went shopping and had a shoe moment with a gorgeous pair of lime green wedges and even though in all honesty I don't need any more wedges, I do have a bit of a thing for lime green, and so the shoes had to come home with me.

Then in another store I found a white top, ideal for throwing on over swimwear, or wearing with shorts etc, in Marks and Spencers for £2.99, reduced from £39.99 - I actually thought it was a mistake, but when I went to pay it was indeed £2.99.

All in all a successful shopping trip :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Yay Sarah. There's nothing better than a successful shopping trip. :thumbsup2

i dont think the candy swap HAS to be something local, it can be whatever you want as far as i know. come join in, the more the merrier....

What a fabulous day!

First, my mom and dad called to wish me a happy birthday and we caught up on all the family gossip of the last week.

Then I won a beautiful beaded dress on eBay for next to nothing (which I hope will fit as I've bought several that haven't), perfect for a formal night (anyone know where I might find a place to wear it?).

Later I went to lunch and shopping with a dear friend from my teaching days, who I haven't been able to connect up with for months, and her daughter (who will be able to use some of the aforementioned non-fitting dresses for homecoming, prom, etc). We had a great time and found some really cute shoes to go with the beaded dress.

After that we went to Sam's to pick up the lobster tails and while we were there, some lovely steaks called out to me, so we're now having surf-and-turf for dinner. I also found a fabulous torte (fudge cake, marscapone cheesecake, & chocolate mousse) that just begged to be my birthday cake, and spared me the trouble of baking my own. There were also some yummy little chocolate
covered frozen banana slices that jumped into my cart, and my friend and I had to sample them on the way back to her house (her daughter bailed on us after lunch) to make sure they weren't spoiled or anything.

Dennis gave me a beautiful orchid (I told him about the clear pot thing, Claire), and at the moment we are sitting around drinking champagne (yes, actual champagne, from France) after eating a delicious appetizer of portabello mushroom caps stuffed with crab and shrimp that he picked up on his way home from work. We're about to fire up the grill to cook the steak and lobster. The dogs are all cuddling up with us on the couch. Does it get any better than this? :goodvibes

To paraphrase (sort of) Sam in "Casablanca," "This champagne sure takes the sting out of turning 50." ;)

Glad to hear that you had a wonderful day :thumbsup2

Well I had a successful day yesterday shopping for cruise items ..... I won a maxi dress on Ebay which will be ideal for Parrot Cay, very tropical, and when it arrived it actually fitted me and I actually feel good in it :thumbsup

Wow, what a bargain, particularly for M&S :thumbsup2. Shoes have been calling to me lately too...4 pairs purchased in the past month. With only being a size 3 (UK),size 5 (US) I now always purchase shoes that I like and actually fit when I see them :), but perhaps I should stop looking in the shoe sections for a bit now :rolleyes1

Airport to port transfer

Due to two people dropping out we currently have two spaces free, cost is 10 euros per person, please PM me if you're interested

Good Morning! At least here in Texas its morning! Going to be another HOT day! They are calling for 100 degrees AGAIN and 108 with the heat index, and absolutely NO RAIN IN SIGHT!!! :scared1: UK AND AUSTRALIA, PLEASE SEND US SOME RAIN!!!
Sounds like yesterday was a good shopping day for lots of dissers! DD 15 and I went shopping also. She always finds cute clothes and got a few new tops and jeans for school. I had the dreaded task of finding a new bathing suit.
Well, I tried on one of those miracle suits and wow! I was impressed! They are pricey, but Macy's had them on sale, and I had a $100 gift card that I only paid $85 for (thru my gym) so the gift card took care of it!
We also went to Michaels (an arts and crafts strore) and they have several 9/11 items in case anyone is interested - tshirts for $12, black wrist bracelets for $2.99, also yellow ribbons and tattos. Just thought I would share, I'm sure other stores will carry items too to remember the day so be on the lookout.
Then we went to pick up carry out Chinese food and while waiting, we ran over to Target and in the course of 15 minutes, I purchased 2 more bathing suits and DD a cute pair of shorts! We have become very efficient shoppers these days! Must be all the practice! :rotfl2: I couldn't justify the purchase till my DD reminded me that I do water aerobics every day and I need new ones. The ones I wear now are so faded and stretched out, and really pathetic so I was long overdue.
Today, DS 14 comes home from Rinkaby, Sweden after almost 2 weeks at the World Scout Jamboree. Can't wait to hear all of his stories. He's a long winded story teller.:) A bit disappointed that we got NO emails from him despite the fact they had an internet cafe there. I'm all ready for his excuse - "mom, I didn't know your email address". Its my name.

I wonder how Jacqueline is doing? I hope things have got better for her and she pops in and lets us know how she is.

Thanks Sarah, have managed to contact supplier by email, delivery date is 30th August. Looked at positive feedback of seller and it is at 98.6%, so hopefully they wont let me down. I have backup dress in case this doesn't get delivered on time and as hubby says I will have it ready for the B2B cruises we have booked for next August out of NY.

My own fault for leaving it this late, but as I had never used ebay before I was a bit apprehensive.

In that case, I'm 112.

I'm not going to be easily consoled about this, you know. I want to look like I did when I was 25 ('cause I was really cute, though I didn't know it), but be as smart as I am now ('cause I was really dumb back then; I sometimes marvel at the fact that I'm still alive, and not in the nut-house).

LOL Pat. I don't think I take aging very well either - I just hope that I will get to that point where I'm more appreciative of my wisdom & experience and less concerned about what wisdom & experience look like!

I'm so glad you had a lovely day. It sounds like the perfect birthday. :cloud9:

Good Morning everyone
It's a typical english summer day.... it looks like rain! but I do hope not as we are just off for the weekend to celebrate DH birthday tomorrow and some very last minute cruise shopping....maybe:cool1: lol I'm sure DH is really looking to that !!
So when we get back tomorrow I expect there will be lots and lots of posts to read

margaret

Happy birthday to your DH!!!

We have never been to Florida in the winter but I think it would be perfect temperatures for me .... July was just way too hot. I have been in April and October and that was a lot better.

Oh yes, winter is the BEST time to visit. The temperatures are just about perfect. The early weeks of December and also the early weeks of November are good times to visit wdw.

I have a question about the Secret Mickey that I don't think has been asked yet, how do we leave it for our recipients? Do we need to find the stateroom host & ask them to put it in the cabin for us?

Claire, you can either find the stateroom host, put it in the FE if there is one, or leave it with guest services.
Thanks, I was wondering about this too.

So funny, we did shopping yesterday too.....er, well I did shopping and Joe held shopping bags. ;) I went to the outlets and was looking for shoes but found a lovely bathing suit (which I have been looking for but gave up) at BCBG - my favorite!!!! - and then found 2 pairs of shoes at the Nine West store for only $60total so I felt pretty good about my bargain and the shoes are beautiful so that doesn't hurt either! Joe was really patient and good about the whole thing - I think I'll keep him. :upsidedow

The only problem is that at BCBG, there were gobs of colorful summery dresses and I really want one! Now I have to find a way to get back there and nab one of those dresses........:rolleyes1

Also did some shopping online yesterday....bought two leather money belts for DH on ebay, one brown/one black, for $12 (both, not each). Even if they only hold up for the trip, I think it was a great deal! :thumbsup2 Now, if I can only find some comfortable walking shoes....

i need some comfortable flats for formal night...
