**Mixology & Mojito Tastings**

I have a few names on standby lists for the above tastings. I have been in touch with the lady from DCL and she said that we could have 2 groups.

Now the only thing is I wouldn't be taking part in another group and the tastings would be a different time, different day to group 1.
At the moment I have 10 people on standby for the Mixology - minimum is 25 & 3 for the Mojito.

We could also wait and see what dates they offer us and split the groups up into who prefers what date if this would work.

I would be more than willing to keep going with the upkeep of the groups for the tastings, but would just be attending the one.

Thoughts?

Was sad to see that the one port adventure that DW was truly excited about- Sea Trek Helmet Dive in St. Maarten- was already booked. I have a feeling I'll be stalking the reservation site just in case.

When I did my onlin check-in I read, that there shall be 2 mobile phones in the staterooms. Does anybody know, if they are on the Magic too or only on the new ships? Last year they were not there. It would be great, because I hope, we can use them as a babymonitor.

My husband was looking over the check-in information and it did mention about having 2 mobile phones in stateroom on the Magic.

The best bet would be to see what dates work best for everyone and try to split the groups up evenly. Of course, I could make the ultimate sacrifice, and go to both, it would be rough but I'd take one for the team for sure :thumbsup2

Personally I think that's best too.

It's a tough choice William :goodvibes

I've started compiling a list of clothes that I would like to take on the cruise and I've noticed I have a lot of white items I've been putting down. My question is (and I'm sure it's a southern regional thing)...do a lot of women wear white on the WBTA? I'm not talking about white shirts.....but sandals, pants, skirts, etc. In the south, you grew up with the tradition of not wearing white shoes before Memorial Day (end of May) and not wearing them after Labor Day (first week-end of Sept.). I figure going on a cruise would be different, but then I'm not sure of what the temperature is like crossing the Atlantic during the middle of Sept. Just an idle thought and thought some of you experienced "cruise fashionistas" could shed light on this for me! :confused3:confused3 Still going to wear white but maybe not as much depending on the temperatures. Thanks for your help on this "earth shattering" issue! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Liesbeth; Nook is the ereader made by Barns&Nobles (US chainstore), it's basically the "rival" of the Kindle, sold by Amazon. As you're experiencing with the iPad; that simply isn't made for digital reading and thus problems with sun, the screen etc. Readers like the Kindle are made for it, so no problem in even the brigthest sun. What I like best of it though; the screen is SO much more relaxing on the eyes than any other screen not designed for ereading. For me personally, it's a more relaxing way of reading that reading an actual book. My eyes can't handle reading a regular book for longer than 15 minutes, but digital I can read for a lot longer.

If you do end up looking into buying an ereader; do it in the US! Prices are dropping here, but still are not really cheaper than in the US and to be honest, I don't like the options and quality of the brands we've got on our market. The Kindle can now be shipped to NL, but that is A LOT more expensive than buying it in the US and having it shipped to your resort. With you staying a week at CBR, you can easily have them ship it overnight to the resort and pick it up at the front desk. Which basically can be done for anything you want to order online. Works like a charm as long as it's not USPS doing the deliveries. (has a hard time finding resorts, I've read on the DIS) I do this all the time. Buy all kinds of stuff on Amazon and have it delivered to me while at WDW. I've found amazing bargains that way that even US stores couldn't come close to matching and I like to get the "must haves" out of the way. Actually, last year I bought my dad his Kindle this way.

Nook also gets good raves, prices are pretty comparable and bonus; you could buy it in their store if you'ld prefer that. The readers that are also on our market also tend to be cheaper in the $-market. Whatever way you go, you can't go wrong there. Don't know about Nook and other brands obviously, but with the Kindle it's no biggie if you run into any problems. My first basically died on me. Called Amazon and literally within 30 hours I had a new one in my hands and was told to ship back the old one at their expense.

As far as customs (doaune) goes; don't sweat it! You need the ESTA-print before you can board the Magic. Even if you've got approval, DCL will make you re-apply if you haven't got the print with you. Disembarking can be done at your own pace, allthough they'll try to kick you off if it gets "later" in the morning. Busses are running nonstop, so you can simply grab one when you "feel" like it, no need to get there at like 8.30 or otherwise no bus at 9.00. Customs has seperate rows for US-citizens and those of us non-citizens. You use the second row, obviously. These folks are a lot more relaxed and easygoing than the regular customs-worker at any airport. They tend to chitchat a bit, are not as grumpy and not as... thourough as at the airports. At the airport the standard is an eyescan and fingerprints (which always gets me a grumpy scene as they somehow are not used to dealing with people with only 9 fingers, ah well) etc. Nothing of that was the case for us at the ports. Just a few short questions what you are doing in the US, where you are going, that's it.

After that, you hit the busstop, inform the CM working the front where you are going and they'll tell you which bus to board. As soon as the bus is full/full enough it will take off. Esp. earlier in the morning that can be very quickly after boarding. Be prepared that they tend to combine resorts, so you might drop off guests at 2 or 3 other resorts first before hitting CBR. At CBR; have them take care of your luggage, you do NOT want to walk with that yourself as custom house (building you check into) is quite a distance from the rooms. Think Centerparcs overhere. You can catch a ride with a CM if it's not too busy, or hop on the internal bus to your room. Walking isn't that bad depending on location but with luggage it gets bad soon. After check in, you don't need to hit custom house anymore, all other things can be done at the desk they've got set up in Old Port Royal (main building with the foodcourt etc.). Gosh this does bring back good memories, I just love CBR.

But really; don't sweat it for both at the port and airport. You'll do fine. If you have any questions or some things aren't clear because of the english, just sent me a PM and I'll help you out in Dutch.

I wear white, but being from the UK I had never heard of this 'rule' until last year I think. I saw loads of white on last year's WBTA as it is a great cruise and summer colour. I have white crops, shorts, skirt, sandals and quite a few tops and a cardigan or two.

Weatherwise, last year was hot hot hot, but I hardly dare hope for the same this time.

Thanks Marilyn! You have put my mind at ease.......I'll keep right on compiling my list (keeping in my whites! lol) ;)

I would love the hot, hot, hot...just so long as we don't get hurricane, hurricane, hurricane!!!!

I know!!!! The Captain and crew work hard keeping away from rain and hurricanes. Last year there was one coming up from Africa so we went slow for a while to let it pass before we got there. I do believe it came to nothing much though. We had some strong swell from a reasonably bad one that went up the US east coast and landed in Newfoundland I think. The swell came all the way down from there to us and lasted a few days!!!:confused3 It was so strange because it looked as calm as anything, but we were going up and down if you fixed your eyes on the front of the ship. A few folk did feel sick with it. I couldn't really tell unless I looked at the front or back of the ship.

A crew friend told us that we had weaved about quite a bit getting out of the way of rain.

I don't dare wear white. The first thing I do is spill something on it. Not enough Tide to go pens in the world to justify me wearing white.

When we went on the Med. cruise last year, we only had one evening where you could feel the boat just "a rockin' & a rollin'" I remember after the dinner show, I thought I would leave a few minutes early to beat the crowd out. I was down at the front and I started walking up the steps. Anybody looking at me must have thought I was drunk...I was stumbling from one side to the other because of the ship rolling. I just prayed the whole time that I wouldn't fall into someone's lap (it was that BAD!). I was so happy to reach the top of the stairs!!!! :worship::worship: So I considered us very lucky to have only had one night of bad weather. Hope we will be that lucky this time!!! lol

Guys I really don't want to start a panic here....but...

DH has just got off the phone with Morrison's again and this is what he said.

Ok just off the phone with Morrisons head office about store opening times. It is not looking good. Gibraltar National Day falls on the 10th September which is a Saturday. So if falls on a weekend it is observed on the following Monday 12th September. Morrisons are still saying that they are open.

He also found this from 2009:

I am so cheesed off with the conflicting stories we are getting from Morrisons and I would just hate to leave all the shopping for drinks etc till we get to Gibraltar and find it's not open:(

Is that a misprint? They take off a whole month for National Day (10/09/09 - 11/09/09)? I would like a holiday like that! lol ;)

LOL's that would be nice Deb...Here we write our dates like that, the day/date first then the month. Not month first

Just on the phone with the Gibraltar Morrison's now and they have confirmed they are closed..

It's funny how little things like that from different countries cause confusion! :confused3 lol That stinks that they are closed!!!! :headache::headache: I just sent an e-mail inquiring about this, but you were much quicker! All those lonely suitcases won't be going out for a little tour of their own! Crap! :sad2:

I am still waiting for a reply from an email I sent them :(

If anybody would like to ring the store directly and see if they get another story..this is the number: 0035020041114

This sounds like the best way Michelle.....providing it's not too much hassle for you to sort out. :)

White is very acceptable here in the UK, although I don't wear it as often as i'd like as I always spill something down me.

I've been deliberating about a dress for formal night. I don't have a very big picture of it, but it's a red ballgown on Ebay and I keep coming back to it... is it too much for a cruise?

I keep thinking how I just love dressing up, and get so few chances during the year to do it. I've been thinking about it all week, and am pretty sure of the fit (I don't mind having it altered if needed).

So, yea or nea... too much, or seeing as it's Disney it would be fine?

I absolutely love the dress!! Can't wait to see you on formal night!
